Walter H. Johnson, 76

LEWES - Walter H. Johnson, of Lewes, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in Beebee Medical Center, Lewes. He was 76. He is survived by his son, Walter Wright and his companion Eleanor; daughter, Annette Wright and her husband Al; brother, Winston Johnson; two grandchildren, Ashley and Walter Wright; and his beloved feline friend, his cat "Baby Duck." Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends my call one hour prior. The Rev. Timothy Duffield will officiate. Burial will be in Israel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lewes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Tunnell Cancer Center, c/o Beebe Hospital 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro.

Margaret McCaffery Steele (Midge)

Age 91, died peacefully on Mon., Dec. 22, 2008, at Millcroft Nursing Home.

Margaret was a lifelong resident of Old New Castle as well as a lifelong member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Margaret was the valedictorian of the first graduating class of St. Peter High School.

Margaret retired from the former Getty Oil Company in Delaware City, and was a member of the Women's Club of Wilmington Elks club, St. Peter's Social Club, and Fraim's Senior Center. After her retirement from Getty, Margaret volunteered many hours at the Delaware Association of Retarded Citizens. She and her husband enjoyed their winters in Florida, senior trips to Wildwood, and travel throughout the United States and Ireland.

Margaret was devoted to her family and was always there for them. She is survived by her children James, and his wife, Dorothy, William, and his wife, Georgann, and Mary Ann Brzoska, and her husband, Robert. Grand-children were the light of her life. She is survived by her 12 grandchildren, Jim, John, Joe, Jennifer, Mary Kate, Robin, Kevin, Ashlinn, Jason, Danielle, Blake, and Sean. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Millcroft for the care they provided to Margaret during her illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Road, Garfield Park, New Castle, on Sat., Dec. 27, at 11:00am. Relatives and friends may call at Holy Spirit Church after 10:00 am Saturday morning.

Interment will be St. Peter Church Cemetery, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Peter's Church Restoration, 521 Harmony Streets, New Castle, DE 19720.

Michael J. Bilinski

Age 67, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 23, 2008.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Michael was the son of the late Michael and Olga (Sagan) Bilinski. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was part of the blockade of the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard the USS Casa Grande. A pipe fitter, he worked for the DuPont Company for 34 years until his retirement. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed the Outer Banks, the Delaware Bay and the Chesapeake Bay. Michael was a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan. His greatest joy was being a devoted grandfather to his granddaughter, Sara.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Barbara A. (Mattson) Bilinski; his daughter, Kelley Bilinski and his granddaughter Sara of Wilmington; his son, Craig Bilinski and his wife Wanida of Wilmington; his mother, Olga Bilinski of Hockessin; his brother, Stephen Bilinski and his wife Geri of Newark; his sister, Carol Purse and her husband Wayne of Newark; two nieces and two nephews; four great nieces and 2 great nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday, December 28th between 3 and 5 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington where funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.

Natalie L. Stephens

Dover, Delaware

26 November 1966 - 22 December 2008

Natalie Louise Stephens was born November 26, 1966 to Paul and Ramona Pilant. She went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2008 at the tender age of 42. Natalie was a child of God, first and foremost devoted to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and equally devoted to her husband, Wayne Stephens and her two sons, Drew and Kyle. She was a homemaker and free lance writer, whose recent works was published in Romantic Homes magazine. Preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her parents, stepfather Ed Spence, husband, two sons, brother, Paul Pilant and two sisters, Cherie Barnett, Tammy Trauger. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, Delaware at 11 AM on December 29, 2008. Friends may call one hour before the time of the service. Interment will be at 1 PM at the Delaware Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

Mell, Ambert Nicole

Amber Nicole Mell of Milford passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 18.

Amber was born on October 11, 1989 in Dover, Delaware.

She was a 2007 graduate of Milford High School. She was a cheerleader and a member of the FFA and will be remembered as an excellent student. Amber was adventurous and enjoyed life.

Amber is survived by her mother Tammy Meredith and her husband Jeff of Milford, her father John Alan Mell of Ithaca, NY, two brothers Joey Prouse of home and Dustin Gondeck of Smyrna, a sister Shelby Meredith of home, maternal grandparents Roger and Rhonda Martin of Felton, paternal grandfather John A. Mell, Sr. of Wilmington, NC, paternal grandmother Jonatha Brogan of Felton and several aunts, uncles, cousins and an extended family of friends.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Wednesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Although flowers are appreciated the family suggests contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses.

Amy Bendfeldt, 23

LEWES - Amy Bendfeldt, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was 23.

She was born on Long Island, N.Y., to Ken Bendfeldt and Jill Lardner.

Amy went to the Middle Country School District and graduated from the Middle Country High School in Selden, N.Y.

She was a college student and was attending the Beebe School of Nursing.

To put herself through college, Amy cleaned houses to earn tuition money.

She maintained high grades and had a 3.8 GPA.

Amy was very outgoing and friendly, made lots of friends and never knew a stranger.

She loved to spend time at the beach.

Amy will be remembered as a loving mother, whose daughter meant everything to her. She loved her daughter more than life itself.

She is survived by her daughter, Taylor Rose Bendfeldt of Lewes; father, Ken Bendfeldt and his fiance Bettina Roloff of Harrington; mother, Jill Lardner of Wading River, N.Y.; brother, Andrew Bendfeldt of Hernando, Fla.; sisters, Julie Bendfeldt of Conway, S.C., Dana Lardner of Wading River and Heather Lardner of Wading River; and grandparents, Henry and Joan Bendfeldt of Lewes.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Interment will be in Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE.

Marjorie L. Adkins

(Wright)

Age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 23, 2008 surrounded by her family.

Born in Columbus, OH, Mrs. Adkins was the daughter of the late Roy and Etta Wright. She worked as a meat wrapper for 18 years at A&P; and SuperFresh Markets, retiring in 1988.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 57 years, Roy L. Adkins; her sons, Steven D. and his wife, Patricia, of Elkton, MD, and Michael E.; two grandsons, Steven L. and David L.; and a great granddaughter, Amber.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29th at 12 noon at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 11 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Odyssey Healthcare, 1407 Foulk Road #200, Wilmington, DE 19803.
