Hutchison, Mary Jane

Mary Jane Hutchison of Clayton, Delaware, passed away Thursday May 22, 2008 in the Silver Lake Center, Dover, Delaware.

She was 52.

Mrs. Hutchison was born July 6, 1955 in Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter of William and Helen (Vincent) Coleman of Odessa, Delaware.

She had worked as a salesperson for Hallmark in Dover.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sons, Robert Unruh, Bryan L. Hutchison of Dover and Christopher D. Hutchison of Newark, Delaware; three brothers, Billy and Mark Coleman both of Smyrna, Delaware and Don Coleman of Middletown, Delaware; a sister, Lee Cooling of Townsend, Delaware and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Thursday May 29, 2008 at 1p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery Odessa, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road Suite 1217 Newark, DE 19713.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Fields, Ruby Lee Staton

Ruby Lee Staton Fields, 65, of Laurel, Delaware, died Thursday, November 9, 2000 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital of cancer. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late George Elmer Staton and Florence Mae Banks Staton.

She is survived by her husband, John Mark Fields of Laurel; two sons, Keith Allen Fields and Kevin Mark Fields both of Laurel; two brothers: Rev. Lawrence Elmer Staton of Salisbury and George Washington Staton of Ocean City; one sister, Edith Frances Rainford of Edison, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Beulah Marie Brumbley and Pauline Emma Cantwell, and a brother, Lloyd William Staton.

Mrs. Fields was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Salisbury. She attended the former Peoples’ Missionary Church in Fruitland and the Church of the Nazarene in Laurel. She loved the Lord. She was a Sunday school and children’s church teacher and enjoyed singing in her church. In addition to singing in St. Andrew’s Church, she sang on the WBOC radio show, “Try Out Time” and the television program, “Way of the Cross.” She was a graduate of the class of 1954 from Wicomico Senior High School. Through the years, she was employed with Delmarva News, Commercial Credit, and Shoreland Freezers. She was a devoted mother and a homemaker.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 13, 2000, at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene, 100 Walnut St, Laurel, Delaware. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Holloway Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Timothy Smith, the Rev. Joe Schiren, and the Rev. Lawrence Staton will officiate. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army, 400 Elmwood St., Salisbury, MD 21804 or the Church of the Nazarene, 100 Walnut St., Laurel, DE 19956.

Gilbert, Sadie

Sadie Gilbert, 84, GreenHill Ave., DOVER, DE passed away Monday September 11, 2000 at K.G.H. BAY HEALTH DOVER, DE Dover.

She was born on August 19, 1916 in Ridgley to Arthur and Emily (Boots) Biddle, Sr..

She was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed driving her husband "Nick" to and from work and spending time with him at the movies as he worked there as the projectionist. She is the last of nine Biddle children..

She is survived by her Husband of 58 years, Francis "Nick" Gilbert of Dover, DE. Sister in Law, Frances Biddle of Felton, DE. BEST FRIEND FOREVE, Lillian Oldham of Dover, DE., Several Neices & Nephews.

Remembrance Services will be held Thursday 09/14/2000 01:00 PM at TRADER FUNERAL HOME in DOVER, DE 19901 with the Rev. Ron WUEST officiating. Burial will be at the SHARON HILL MEMORIAL PARK Dover, DE.

Friends may call one hour before the time of the services.

Evans, John P.

John P. Evans of Dover died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in his home, He was 45. Mr. Evans was born Aug. 6, 1955, in Jersey City, N.J. He had served his country in the U.S. Marines. He had worked as a maintenance supervisor of several apartment complexes, including Country Village in Dover, Drummond Hill in Newark and May Fair Apartments in Rodney Village, Dover. Mr. Evans enjoyed fishing in Lewes and Bowers Beach, vegetable gardening and traveling. He was a loving and giving person. He touched the hearts and lives of everyone who knew him. He was always there if you needed his help. He was the type of person that would give you his last dollar even if he had no food for himself. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. In not so many words, he meant the world to a world of people. We love you and will miss you always. He is survived by his wife, Verna Evans of Dover; two daughters, Desiree Evans and Destiny Evans, both of Lewes; two stepsons, Charles Tucker of Smyrna and Christopher Tucker of Felton; two stepdaughters, Stacy Walsh of Camden and Tiffany Hernandez of Milton; his parents, Thomas and Eleanor Miller of Swarthmore, Pa., and Hannah Jane Evans of Springfield, Pa.; a brother, Jerry Liddel of Swarthmore; a sister, Margaret Mayo of Swarthmore; and nine grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road in Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Painter, Don Wilson

Don Wilson Painter of Dover died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 72. Mr. Painter was born March 18, 1929, in Three Springs, Pa., son of the late William and Onetta Painter. He moved to Dover in 1959 while being stationed at the Dover Air Force Base. Mr. Painter was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant and flight engineer after serving his country for 22 years. After retiring from the service, he worked for the state of Delaware as a lieutenant on the night shift at the Delaware Correctional Center in Smyrna and also drove for the Dover Post. The love of his life was his family and flying. Mr. Painter was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover, the F.O.P. Lodge in Kitts Hummock, and the Wilderness Sportsman Club. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annie Lois Painter of Dover; four sons, Wyman Eugene Painter and his wife, Nancy of Clayton, Stanley Earle Painter of Dover, Donnie William Painter and his fiancée, Jitka of Dover; and David Wilson Painter and his wife, Carol of Seaford; a brother, James Arthur Painter of Alexandria, Pa.; four granddaughters and a great-grandson. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Pickering, Florence Elva
Florence Elva Pickering of Dover died Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 90. Mrs. Pickering was born July 31, 1910, in Henderson, Md., daughter of the late Lillyiard and Mary E. Tomlinson Jones. She moved to Delaware as a teenager and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School. After graduating she worked as a law secretary in Dover and later at Carroll's Sale. Most of her life was spent helping on the family farm with her husband. She was very proud when the farm was awarded Century Farm status. She was very much interested in her family history and the history of Delaware. Mrs. Pickering was a member of the Kent County Archeology Society, the Delaware Farm Bureau and Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Camden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, W. Thomas Pickering, Sr., in July 1993. She is survived by a son, Bill Pickering, and his wife, Peggy, of Dover; three sisters, Elizabeth Ennis and Jeannette Virdin, both of Dover, and Myrtle Dixon of Kenton; four grandchildren, Jeff Pickering, Steve Pickering and Jill Harrington, all of Dover, and Amy Ellison of Virginia Beach, Va.; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary and Abigail Harrington and Sarah and Caroline Ellison. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

MYRTLE FRANCES MOREA

Age 89, of Wilmington, DE, died Friday morning, July 20, 2001 at the Christiana Hospital.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Joseph Morea. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marcella and James Willson of Hockessin, DE; her son Thomas F. Morea of Palm Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Major Thomas Morea of SC, and John Morea of FL; her great granddaughter Sabrina Morea.

The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 23rd, at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere. Friends may call at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.

Kohout, Jr., Frank J.

Frank Kohout Jr. of Hartly died March 22, 2006 on the farm he was born on. He was 78.

Mr. Kohout was born July 5, 1927 to the late Francis Kohout, Sr. and Hilda Boudle Kohout. He was raised by his late grandmother Agnes Kohout, who he took care of in her later years, and his late aunt Mary Churchman.

Mr. Kohout was a dairy farmer, and a live stock dealer. For 50 years he owned and operated an animal removal service in Hartly. He was a proud man that worked hard all his life. He enjoyed the beach, dancing, camping and going out to eat. Mr. Kohout loved his dogs and animals. He was a member of the Camden/Wyoming Moose Lodge, and Delaware Farm Bureau.

He was preceded by his sister, Margaret Kohout Taylor, and his adopted son, Carlton Kohout.

Mr. Kohout is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence Shahan Kohout of Hartly; his son, John Kohout and his wife Rebecca of Hartly; his daughter, Carolyn Downes and her husband Steve of Hartly; two brothers, George "Sonny" Kohout, Charles "Jimmy" Kohout; 6 grandchildren, Stacy Sylvester and her husband Troy of Harrington, Jason Kohout and fiancé Erica Webb of Dover, Shawn Downes of Hartly and special friend Rachael Epps and her son Carson of Woodside and Shane Downes of Hartly, Steven and Janet Kohout of Dover; two great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Sierra; his cousin, Marie Austin of Camden and a host of brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Monday March 27, 2006 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7-9PM. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Star M. Williamson

Age 58, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Star was born in Milford, DE and moved to Elsmere when she was seven years old.

She worked for Bell Telephone, George H. Burns, Inc., and was a fabulous bartender at Tonik's and Borelli's Taverns.

Michael would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Steven Paulus, Angela DiMarcello, Mom Mom-Wo, and Delaware Hospice.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Michael Williamson, Sr.; two stepchildren, Michael Williamson, Jr. and Marci Tucker; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Thursday May 1st at 12 noon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening April 30th. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
