Mary S. Lynch

Age 70, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2008 at Christiana Hospital.

Mary was the daughter of the late Leonard Himelwright and Helen (Daniels) Semiclose and was born and raised in Coatesville, PA. A cook, she worked at various Howard Johnson Restaurants. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Lynch in 1977 and her children, Mary Sue Holman and Curtis Freeman.

She is survived by her children, Theresa Buckingham of Felton, DE, Carrie Lynch of New Castle, and Frederick J. Lynch and his wife Deborah of New Castle; two brothers, Andrew Spanakos of Wilmington and William Spanakos of Christiana, PA; her sister, Jeannette Nunn of Cochranville, PA; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Everett, Margaret S

Margaret S. Everett, 86, Sudlersville Road, Clayton, passed away Monday April 28, 2008 at her home with family.

She was born on December 28, 1921 in Dover, DE to the late Harry and Mary Wright Scotton.

Mrs. Everett was a homemaker and worked the family farm with her late husband James L. Everett for 65 years. She loved cooking and baking and had a loving heart. She will be missed by all who know her. She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Everett, brothers, Carl, Kenneth, Rawlins, Spencer Scotton, sister, Becky Hershberger.

She is survived by Sister, Kathryn Bush of Downes Chapel, DE. Brother, Harry Scotton of Felton, DE. Sister, Marry Ann Helmer of Mary Del, DE. Sister and her husband, Audrey L. and Lee Severson of Downes Chapel, DE. Cousin, Mary Louise Jones of Downes Chapel, DE Nephew, David R. Hengst of Downes Chapel, DE Nieces, Donna Fowler of AZ, Pamela Severson of Smyrna, DE Great Niece, Megan R. Hengst of Downes Chapel, DE

Graveside Services and Burial will be held Friday 05/02/2008 02:00 PM at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover, DE

Sills, Norma H.

Norma Hollis Sills, age 86, of Milford, DE died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Milford Center in Milford, DE.

Mrs. Sills was born in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of the late Thaddeus W. and Sara (Harrington) Hollis.

She spent most of her life in Milford.

She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1939, and the University of Delaware, Class of April, 1943, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education.

She taught General Science and Biology in Milford School district for three years, and also taught three years of Home Economics in Glen Burnie High School in Maryland.

She was a dedicated and longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Milford, enjoying teaching in the Sunday school and serving in various positions in the Women's Association. She was a Trustee of the church for six years and an Elder serving on the Session for six years.

She also assisted her husband, Dr. David N. Sills, Jr., who passed away on August 6, 2007, with office record keeping during his thirty-three years of practice in General Surgery at Milford Memorial Hospital.

Dr. and Mrs. Sills greatly enjoyed extensive travel in this country and abroad.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her young sister, Ida Ann Hollis Emory, and her older brother, Thaddeus W. Hollis, Jr.

She is survived by twelve nieces and nephews, Donna Rayne and her husband Frank, of Homosassa, FL., Carole Downs of Acworth, GA, Susan Miller and her husband Carroll, of Seaford, DE, Jo Ann Lord and her husband, J.B. IV, of Seaford, DE., James Hollis and his wife, Terry, of Georgetown, DE., Thomas Hollis and his wife, Diane, of Felton, DE., Tina and Alicia Hollis, of Milford, DE., David Sills IV and his wife, Denise, of Bear, DE., Andrew Sills and his wife, Lisa, of Roswell, GA., Winifred Brantner and her husband, Jim, of Jonesboro, TN., and Nancy Ross and her husband, Steven, of Alpharetta, GA., one brother-in-law, Nelson Sills and his wife, Nancy, of Houston, DE and one sister-in-law, Winifred Leitheiser of Dover, DE.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church, 101 South Walnut St., Milford, DE.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 172, Milford, DE. 19963.

Bryan, M.D., E. D.

DOVER E.D. "Dave" Bryan, M.D. died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. He was 71.

He was born in Lewes, Delaware, son of the late Everett D. and Gertrude D. Bryan. He graduated from Dover High School and Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA., received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, and served in the U.S. Public Health Service in Philadelphia before returning to Dover to begin his thirty years in the general practice of medicine, retiring in 1996.

Dr. Bryan was a member of the Medical Society of Delaware, Kent Co. Medical Society, and a life member of the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Bryan was known for his historical research, articles, displays, and lectures on the early mercantile history of Delaware, including his peach slide show "The Fuzzy Phenomenon" and his sweet sorghum pressing demonstrations at the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village. His hobby was collecting and researching antique Delaware pottery, bottles and cans. He donated the latter two collections to the Delaware State Museums. A portion of these can be seen at the museum of Small Town Life in Dover.

Upon retirement he wrote a local history book, now out of print, called "Ho! For Collins' Beach!" documenting an 1800's resort northeast of Smyrna, DE. He was interested in the Confederate raider "Alabama, " on which a relative served, and spoke on the subject for various organizations. He performed musically on saxophone, guitar, and novelty musical instruments in various settings including many years in a nursing home ministry with his wife and granddaughter Theresa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a step grandson Justin Christmas.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose, two daughters and their husbands, Mary L. and Donald Christmas, and Laura R. and Robert Kaehler; a brother Terry A. Bryan, D.M.D. and his wife Margaret; six grandchildren, Theresa Kaehler, Robert Kaehler, Michael Kaehler, Moriah Kaehler, Kamilia Kaehler and Alexander Kaehler, a step granddaughter Shannon Brenner and husband Michael and two step great grandchildren Jonathan Brenner and Timothy Brenner.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 113 Lotus Street, Dover.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Pitts, Francis "Frank"

FRANCIS “FRANK” PITTS, of Dover died April 4, 2001 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 9 just north of Little Creek. He was 30.

Mr. Pitts was born October 4, 1970 in Wilmington, Delaware.

He worked at the Air Base Carpet Mart on S. Little Creek Road, Dover for 9 years where he sold and installed carpets.

He was a member of the Little Creek Volunteer Fire Co., Little Creek.

He also enjoyed playing billiards, was an avid Eagles fan, and played softball.

He is survived by his mother: Deborah Miller, of Dover; grandfather: Ropey Hand; Stepfather and his wife: James & Donna Miller of Dover; 3 sisters: Virginia Chapman and her husband James of Dover, Debbie Richardson and her husband Tony of Dover; Jammie Miller of Dover; a brother: Thomas Miller of Middletown; 4 nephews, 3 nieces; numerous friends from Little Creek and the Fire Dept.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Monday, April 9, 2001 in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Blansfield, Rodney Alfred

Rodney Alfred Blansfield Born March 18, 1922 in Newark, DE and died February 18, 2001 at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, PA.

Mr. Blansfield served 2 years in the US Navy from 1944-1946 and then worked as a carpenter during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Hindman Blansfield, 2 sons, Rodney James of Elkton, MD and Robin Alfred of Newark, a daughter and son-n-law, Jean Ann and Harry J. Lee of Rising Sun, MD, two grandsons, Edward O. Lewis, Jr. of Selbyville, DE and Rodney W. Blansfield of Elkton, MD, a granddaughter, Kimberly M. Lewis of Selbyville, DE, and his sister and brother-n-law, Virginia and James Villermaux of Wilmington, DE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Etta Mae Blansfield.

A graveside service will be held 11am, Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at the Newark Cemetery, Newark, DE with the Reverend George Reynolds officiating.

Visitation will be held 10am, February 21, at the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in c/o the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
