Harvey Reinke, 87, of Larchwood died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Tuff Memorial Home, Hills, Minn.
Funeral mass was Thursday, Oct. 7, at St. Mary Church, Larchwood, with interment in Larchwood cemetery .
Mr. Reinke was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Larchwood, the son of Edward and Edith (Tracy) Reinke. He grew up near Larchwood and attended St. Mary's School in Larchwood, graduating in 1935. He helped his father on the farmily farm.
On April 30, 1940, he married
Mary Richarz at Larchwood. They lived on the Reinke family farm until 1944 when they moved into town. In 1951, they returned to the farm. In 1982, he retired from farming and they moved into Larchwood. On March 3, 2003, he moved to Tuff Memorial Home.
He served as a usher at St. Mary Church over 40 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge #503 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Thomas and Donald "Ty", both of Larchwood and Jerry of Omaha, Neb.; three daughters, Elaine Reinke and Mrs. Keith (Nancy) Bierle, both of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. John (Judy) Anderson of Hudson, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one sister, Jean DeBaere of Rock Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Delores Sehr.

Vertis Garnmeister, 87, of George died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Iowa Medical and Classification Center, Oakdale.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, rural George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn cemetery .
Bernice Kahl, 80
Santa Monica, Calif.

Bernice Kahl, 80, of Santa Monica, Calif., died Sept. 17, 2004, at Kaiser-Hollywood Hospital, Los Angeles, Calif.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids.
Bernice Kahl was born June 17, 1924, the daughter of August and Martha Kahl. She attended country school eight years and graduated from Rock Rapids High School. She worked in Washington, D.C., and Newton, Iowa, before moving to Santa Monica where she was a legal secretary for a law firm over 40 years.
She was a member of the Santa Monica Bay Women's Club, Beta Sigma Phi, PEO and Sierra, holding elected positions in each organization.
Survivors include one brother, Virgil Kahl of Milford, and one sister, Nina Finegan of Anchorage, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Ronald Cadman, 70
Spencer, Iowa

Ronald Cadman, 70, of Spencer died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services were Monday, Oct. 11, at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview cemetery .
Mr. Cadman was born June 17, 1934, at Boone, the son of Clarence and Pearl (Zunkel) Cadman. He grew up near Madrid and graduated from Madrid High School. He served during the Korean Conflict from January 1955 until April 1957.
On December 27, 1965, he married
Alice Meyers at Iowa City. They lived in Tipton where he worked as a farm hand. He lived and worked in several parts of Iowa. He was active in Alcoholics Anonymous and served as a counselor for Northwest Iowa Alcohol and Drug Treatment Unit. They lived in northwest Iowa until he retired and they moved to Arizona. They later returned to Iowa.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Chris of Harris; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (ReNae) Leuthold of Ellsworth, Minn.; four grandchildren and one brother, Robert of Sun City, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth.
Berniece Dykstra, 90

Berniece Dykstra, 90, of Mesa, Ariz., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Extended Family Care Facility.
Services were pending with Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids.
Frank Clark, 92
Union City, New Jersey

Frank Clark, 92, of Union City, N.J., died Nov. 6, 2004.
After serving in the navy during World War II, he conducted a camp for underprivileged city youth on the McGuire farm southeast of Rock Rapids. He later served the Union City school system for many years as an athletic coach and school principal.
He was married
to the former Marjorie McGuire, a native of Rock Rapids.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Patrick and James; two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Kathleen) Garabed and Mrs. Clark (Ann) Mercado, and six grandchildren.
Joan Durband, 76
Mesa, Arizona

Joan Durband, 76, formerly of Hull, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Mesa, Ariz.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa.
Joan Vande Kop was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Rock Valley, the daughter of Stephen and Jennie Vande Kop. She grew up on a farm near Rock Rapids. She taught school in the Rock Rapids area and later in Hull. She graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City in 1976, with a degree in social science, and earned a master's degree in library science at Western Michigan University in 1982.
On July 2, 1952, she married
James Durband. They farmed near Larchwood and later lived in Hull. She moved to Holland, Mich., in 1977, where she worked as a science librarian at Hope College. In 1993, Joan moved to Mesa.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis of Gilbert, Ariz., Randy of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Donovan of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters Stephanie Doeschot of Lake Saint Louis, Mo, and Nancy Van Huis of Chandler, Ariz.; five grandsons and one brother, Herbert of Rock Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Bill and George, and one sister Marie Vande Kop.
