Clarissa "Tissa" Hunt
Memorial Services to celebrate the life of Clarissa C. “Tissa” Hunt 86, Davenport, will be 12 noon Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St. Davenport. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Rabbi Henry J. Karp of Temple Emanuel will be officiating.
Private family burial will take place prior to the funeral service at Oakdale Memorial Gardens.
Tissa died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Manor Care, Utica Ridge Rd. Davenport.
Clarissa Jane Craton was born icon December 8, 1923, in Davenport, the daughter of James H. and Catherine (Sears) Craton. Tissa graduated from St. Katherine’s High School, Davenport.
She was united in marriage to Frederick B. Hunt Jr. July 19, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Mn. He preceded her in death February 11, 2006.
Tissa was a member of St. Luke’s Hospital Befriender’s (Genesis Medical Center) and St. Luke’s Auxiliary. She also belonged to Colonial Dames, Mayflower Society, and Scott County Master Gardeners. She was a member of Temple Emanuel and Temple Emanuel Sisterhood. Tissa was a former member of Trinity Cathedral and the Altar Guild.
Tissa was very proud of her rose and wild flower gardens. She was also a devoted animal lover.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scott County Humane Society, 2802 West Central Park Ave, Davenport; Temple Emanuel, 1115 Mississippi Ave, Davenport; the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 736 Federal St. Davenport or the charity of your choice.
Survivors include her children and their spouses; Catherine (Dr. Stephen) Weiss, Davenport, Jamie (Alex) Vance, Naples, FL, and Leigh (Charlie) Butler, Bettendorf; daughter-in-law, Donna E. Hunt, Evergreen, AZ; grandchildren, Katy Wilkins, Dr. Stephen Weiss, Clarissa Weiss, Melissa Anderson, James Vance, Sgt. Jessica Pederson, Heather Hunt, David Kirkland, Eric Kirkland and Alissa Butler; cousins I. W. Sears, Davenport and Dr. Lou Sears, Bettendorf; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Tissa was preceded in death by her husband Frederick B. Hunt, Jr., a son, S. Sgt. Frederick B. Hunt III and cousins, Betty Sears Carver and Arthur Sears.

Mary T. Duggleby
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary T. Duggleby, 98, a resident of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 918 E. Rusholme, Davenport. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of service Thursday in the gathering space at church. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Duggleby died March 1, 2010 at the Kahl Home for the Aged.
Mary T. Sacco was born icon on November 23, 1911 in Des Moines, IA, a daughter of Charles and Teresa (Falcone) Sacco. She was united in marriage to Norman “Pat” Duggleby in 1940 in Des Moines, IA, he preceded her in death on December 3, 1980.
Mary was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Her faith was very important to her, and an active part of her everyday life.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle or the Kahl Home.
She is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her four brothers, Frank, Fiore, Gary, and Louie Sacco. May they rest in peace.

Richard Paul Brown
Richard P. Brown, 45, and a resident of Davenport died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 surrounded by his family.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 516 Fillmore Street, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL with military honors provided by the Vietnam Vets Post 299. Visitation is Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. The family invites you to join them at 4:00 p.m. for a prayer service to begin the visitation. Honoring Richard’s wish, cremation will take place following visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to either the family for an education fund or to Melanoma Research.
Richard Paul Brown was born icon November 25, 1964 in Davenport to Edwin and Marjorie (Marriott) Brown. Richard proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Erin McGinnis on November 22, 1997 at Progressive Baptist Church in Davenport.
In everything he did and everything he offered, Richard embodied loyalty, kindness, joy, and celebration. His love showed up in a random drop-off of cupcakes, cookies, or a pot of something spicy, straight from his kitchen and directly from his heart. Empathy and generosity emanated from his soul, his being, his pores. Richard expressed the most authentic gestures of kindness and selflessness to friends, family, even people he didn’t know. Richard knew no strangers. If you had five minutes to get to know him, he considered you a friend for life. Children met a kindred soul in Rich. All kids who knew him loved him. He placed all others at the center of his heart. People and relationships were always front and center - pure light and pure joy. Richard had a sense of humor and wit so outrageous, we couldn’t help but laugh with him. He always encouraged that we laugh at him at times, too! Richard "I'll do it!" Brown. "Go Hawks!". Survivors include his wife Erin; and their children, Timothy, Tiah, Alexia, and Devon; his two grandchildren, Malikai and Rya Lynn; his father, Ed; his 10 siblings and their spouses, Mike (Barb), Patrick (Robin), Mary (Samuel), Theresa, Sheila (Chris), Roger (Maria), Steve (Mandy), Ann Marie (Bruce), Thomas (Gisele), David (Maggie); numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie on November 11, 2009.

Daniel Richlen II
A celebration of the life of Daniel E. Richlen II, 53, a resident of Muscatine, will start at 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Walcott Coliseum, 116 E. Bryant Street, Walcott. Keeping with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Dan died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus.
Daniel Edward Richlen II was born icon on February 19, 1957 in Davenport, a son of Daniel and Betty (Burton) Richlen, Sr. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, serving from 1977 – 1981.
Dan served on the Davenport Police Department, and was the Chief of Police in Walcott, retiring from both jobs in 1994, serving 17 years with the DPD, 7 of those years with the SWAT team.
He is survived by his son and daughter –in-law, Joshua and Regina Richlen; grandchildren, Calista Richlen, and Joshua Richlen II; his siblings, Cindy Stranger, Colona, IL, Sheila Daniels, Davenport, and Denise McDonald, Cleveland, IL; his significant other, Sue Thorton, Muscatine, and his canine companions, Cocoa and Heidi.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cindi Simmons
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Cindi L. Simmons, 55, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10: 00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Cindi died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus following a brief illness.
Cindi Louise Voltz was born icon on July 30, 1954 in Davenport, a daughter of Rick Voltz and Patsy (Spitzmiller) Keehner. She had been faithfully married to Jim Simmons for over 30 years.
Cindi worked for the government for over 36 years. Her first 23 years were in the Army Industrial Operations Command with her remaining 13 years supporting the Information Management Directorate at the Army Joint Munitions Command located on the Rock Island Arsenal. Over the span of her career she held many positions to include her support to Information Assurance and Records Management, just to name a few. Always wanting to do what she could to support the soldier, she deployed three times oversees and was in the process of preparing for a fourth deployment. This was very important to her and she was extremely proud of being able to do her part. For these and many other contributions she made over her career, her efforts were recognized by numerous performance awards and letters of appreciation, but to Cindi, none compared to the satisfaction she received from working with her customers in the field. For her personal sacrifice and dedication to the soldiers in the field, she was awarded a framed commendation, along with her picture displayed on JMC's Wall of Fame.
Cindi was a hard worker, her attention to detail was next to none, she
gave her best to whatever she was assigned to do and was always willing to contribute whenever she could. Because of this and so much more, she will be sorely missed by all of those she came in contact with over her career. Cindi enjoyed working with several charitable organizations over the years including her annual commitment to Toys for Tots, but her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children, especially her grandson, Keegan.
Memorials may be made to the Red Cross or the American Cancer Society.
Cindi is survived by her daughter Stephanie Simmons (Justin Forsyth), Bettendorf, a son, Brad Simmons, Davenport, a grandson, Keegan Forsyth; her mother, Patsy Keehner, sisters, Sheri (Tom) Carnahan, Davenport and Lori (E.J. Renfro) Zubroski, Arizona; a brother, Marc (Cia) Voltz, Fairfax, VA, as well as numerous extended family.

Rosalie Kadavy
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Rosalie C. Kadavy, 76, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. to begin the visitation. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the service in the gathering space at the church. Rosalie died peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at her residence in Davenport.
Rosalie Clare Jaacks was born icon on August 7, 1933, in Denison, Iowa, a daughter of John R. and Mary Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Jaacks. Rosalie graduated from Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Waterloo, Iowa, in May 1955. She was united in marriage to Henry D. Kadavy on October 8, 1955, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa.
Rosalie was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and a former member of the Catholic Service Board. She was active in volunteer organizations at St. Paul the Apostle School and Assumption High School.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to be directed to Assumption High School, St. Paul the Apostle School Scholarship Fund or Genesis Visiting Nurses Association.
Rosalie is survived by her husband of more than 54 years, Henry; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Jay Garner, Davenport, and Clare and Ralph Martens, Bettendorf; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Julie Kadavy, Bellevue, Wash., John and Rita Kadavy, Greeley, Colo., Jim and Michele Kadavy, Davenport, and David Kadavy, Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Annie, Alison, John, and Lauren Kadavy, Ryan, Kyle, Kole, and Paige Kadavy, Kevan, Elizabeth, Kathleen, and Grace Kadavy, Emma and Ellen Garner, and Maggie and Joe Martens; sisters, Eileen Herzog, Independence, Iowa, Rosemary Zummak, Jesup, Iowa, and Cathy Baker, Des Moines, Iowa; and brothers, Kevan Cortright, Waterloo, Iowa, and Steve Cortright, San Diego, Calif.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen in infancy, a son, Joseph Michael in infancy, and brothers, Daniel and Michael Cortright. May they rest in peace.

Lila Deierling
Lila Jeanne (Tade) Deierling, 81, of Buffalo, Iowa was born icon July 18th, 1928 to Klon Noah and Iris Letha Tade in Worthington, Mo. She died on March 3, 2010 at the Park Place LTCU in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Lila attended elementary school at Worthington, Mo. and high school at Unionville, Mo.
She married Frank Lester Deierling on June 1, 1945 at Queen City, Mo. This June Frank and Lila would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They moved to Buffalo, Iowa in 1952 where they have lived for 57 years.
Lila is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Micheal Deierling (Monica); and daughters Judith Ann Deierling White (Dennis); Debra Jeanne Deierling Savage (Alfred); and Pamela Sue Deierling Geeding (James).
Judith and Dennis have two daughters; Amanda and Alecia. Alecia and her husband Joshua Sharback have a son Noah.
Mike has three children; April, Levi and Frank by a previous marriage and he and Monica have a son Jeremy. April has a son Luke and a daughter Makennah. Frank and Danelle have a daughter Emily and a son Dakotah.
Debra and Alfred have two children; a daughter Andria and a son David. Andria has a son Milo and a daughter Iris. David and his wife Sarah are expecting a girl baby with the arrival date on Lila’s birthday, July 18th.
Pam and her husband Jim have two children. Tade Spencer Geeding, deceased, and a daughter Alaine.
She is also survived by three sisters; Deannie Smith, Ann Petersen and Linda Davis. Two life long friends, Betty Ledford and Ruth Sprague, and childhood friend, Rose Lee Trammel, also survive. Many nieces and nephews will remember that special bond they shared with their Aunt Lila.
Lila was preceeded in death by her parents, two sisters, Arvella and Margery, one brother Donavan Tade and a beloved grandson, Tade Spencer Geeding.
Lila was a member of the Buffalo Friends Church and was very active in the USFW Missionary Society of the Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends. She and her friend, Ruth Sprague, were responsible for countless church bazaars, Mother-Daughter banquets and church dinners--always competing to provide the best rolls, desserts or casseroles. Church 4th of July floats and Halloween parties at the church provided a great opportunity for Lila to exhibit her love of theatre. Along with this love of food and great cooking, Lila and Ruth Sprague spent many hours operating the Buffalo food pantry.
Lila was a very generous and colorful person with many talents. She loved crocheting and was an avid reader. Each thing she undertook she did with perfectionism. She was an over 50-year lifetime member of the Davenport Eastern Star Chapter 178. Lila was a Cub Scout den leader for several years. When her children were in school, she enjoyed participating in the PTA and has always encouraged her family in their education.
Her greatest love was her family, friends, and cooking. There was no recipe she could not conquer and improve. She decorated many wedding cakes for friends and family in the community and improved many a home with her decorating abilities.
Visitation for Lila will be from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport, Iowa with the funeral service also being held there at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, Iowa immediately following the service.
Memorials have been established to the Buffalo Public Library, Buffalo, Iowa. A memorial is also established for Park Place LTCU, 401 SouthVan Buren, Mount Pleasant, Iowa to provide birdfeeders and an outdoor park bench.
Lila leaves behind many accomplishments and a rich legacy. Most importantly she leaves behind family and friends who have been blessed to know her. No family could ask for more than the love she gave us. Our hearts are heavy with loss but we are left with beautiful memories and traditions. Until we meet again!

William Schadt
The Lord called home one of his most precious souls on Saturday, March 6, 2010, as he was surrounded by his loving family at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for William F. “Bill” Schadt, Jr., 75, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal where the Q.C. Vietnam Veterans, post #299, will conduct Graveside Military Rites. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport, where a prayer service will be offered at 7:00 p.m.
William Fredrick Schadt was born icon May 7, 1934 in Davenport the son of William F. and Gladys (Lohf) Schadt. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Ambrose and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. Bill then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal becoming a journeyman machinist, working his way to supervisor of many departments. He wed Janet (Thompson) Kelley on November 23, 1957 they had three children together.
Later in life he married Nancy Wiese on July 10, 1982. They were childhood friends and were reunited March 17, 1981. They spent many hours reminiscing over memories of their childhood and the time they spent as buddies. They were true soul mates and enjoyed their life together. Bill was a loving and gentle husband, a true gentleman. Bill’s children and grandchildren were the pride of his life. His face would light up whenever they called and stopped over. For many years he took part in the organizing of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Blue Grass Parade and different jobs with the Bix festival. Bill loved a party! Another of Bill’s passions was golf. He loved being on the course with friends and his buddy Leon, who helped him with some golf strategies.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Those left honor his memory include his wife, Nancy and daughters, Renee (Rich) Wingerter, Ronda (Dave) Smith and a son, Roger; two sisters, Elaine (Royal) Benjamin and Edith (Rob) Horn; a stepson, Robert (Rebecca) Dugas Jr.; his loving grandchildren, Bobbie and Bailey Wingerter, Brandon and Brent Schadt, Brandi Smith and Eli Burmeister; his great grand children are Diego and Isabel Martinez; and his sister-in-law Joanne Schadt. He also dearly loved his numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful companion, his little dog Annie. His parents a brother, Robert and a stepdaughter Michelle Burmeister, preceded him in death.
