George, Levi William

Cemetery: Spring Grove Cemetery - Covington

Levi William George, infant son of William and Angela Dunker George went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2010. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW with Pastor Ken Koske of Twin Pines Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery near Covington. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Levi is survived by his parents, maternal grandparents Todd and Elena Dunker of Keystone and Ken and Shelly Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids, paternal grandparents Terresa and Robert Krahmer of Fairfax and Mark George of Fairfax; maternal great – grandparents Elaine Dunker of Cedar Rapids, Larry and Loretta Lemons of Fruitland, Idaho, Alice Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids and Joe and Mickey Granados of Venice, Florida; paternal great – grandparents Kate George of Fairfax and Ginny Wilson of Cedar Rapids; maternal great – great grandmother Elfrieda Dunker of Keystone and Jerome and Helen Stoddard of Watkins; paternal great – great grandmother Elizabeth Wilson of Solon as well aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jehle, George "Corky"

George “Corky” Jehle, 63 of Redlands, California, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2010. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids in is handling arrangements.

George was born icon on January 23, 1947 in Iowa City, the son of Esther and Robert Jehle, Sr. He graduated from City High School in 1967 and entered the Air Force making it his career. He served in Vietnam and later at Norton AFB, California under Military Airlift Command.

George is survived by two sons, Nicholas and Matthew, both of California; two brothers, Robert (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, and Donald of Iowa City; two nieces, a nephew, an aunt, Marguerite Teague, and sisters-in-law Karen Jehle and Joan Jehle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Jehle.

George was deeply loved and will remain forever in our hearts.

Crawford, Charles B.

Charles B. Crawford, 87 of Atkins, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Charles was born icon January 20, 1923 in Sheridan, Wyoming, the son of Charles Bert and Gladys (Olsen) Crawford.

Charles is survived by his children, Charlene (Jerry) Magstadt of California, Marcelene (Larry) Olson of Iowa, and Broch (Teresa) Crawford of Arizona; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his brother, Bill Crawford of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jamerson, Timothy Robert

Cemetery: Cedar Memorial Cemetery

Timothy Robert Jamerson, 51 of Phoenix, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, January 22 in his home. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 31 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with a Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m. Private family inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Tim was born icon September 23, 1958 in Waterloo, the son of Robert and Glennes Burger Jamerson. He graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo. He married June Burkholder on March 8, 1980 in Cedar Falls at St. Patricks Catholic Church. He attended the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Education. While at UNI he was very active in Track and Field. He was an All-American Pole Vaulter in 1979. Tim worked at Allen Motor Company and for Ar-Jay Center both in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Phoenix in 2006 and worked as a respite care provider for United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona providing care for his nephew Nicholas Jamerson.

Tim is survived by his daughters Sarah (Justin) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids and Stephanie (Derc) Albrecht of Ankeny; a grandson Jordan Zimmerman; his parents Bob and Glennes Jamerson, sisters Susan (Jack) Thayer, Kris (Jim) Wahl, and Lori (Roger) Keegan; brothers Craig (Peggy) Jamerson and Paul Jamerson; ten nieces and nephews and one great-nephew all of the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Tim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harold and Bernice Jamerson and maternal grandparents Burton and Norma Burger as well as his brother Robert Jamerson.

Memorials may be directed in Tim’s name to either United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona as well as the UNI Track & Field Department and can be sent to PO Box 10542 Cedar Rapids, IA 52410-0542.

Pospishil, Joyce Ann

Cemetery: Czech National Cemetery

Joyce Ann Pospishil, 78, of LaFeria, Texas formerly of Cedar Rapids died August 26, 2005 at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids with Rev. Steven Rempfer, officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids.

Joyce was born icon on August 20, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Stella (Dusek) Ceynar. She married James Pospishil on December 4, 1958 in Iowa City. Joyce worked for the People’s Bank and US Bank in Cedar Rapids. In her retirement she enjoyed her grapefruit orchard, upholstery work, and traveling across the country.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years James of LaFeria, Texas; brother Earl (Lois) Ceynar of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law Don Pospishil of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law Elaine Pospishil of Phoenix, Arizona; nephews, Joe Pospishil, Chris Ceynar, Allan Speidel and nieces, Darlene Speidel and Annie Pospishil

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 29390 Orange Grove Road, Laferia, Texas 78559-6083.

Machovec, Rose

Cemetery: Czech National

Rose Machovec, 93, of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday night, August 10, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2005 at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids with Reverend Will Jackson, officiating. Interment will follow at Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include a daughter Geraldine (Jack) Little of Delray Beach, Florida; a son Donald Machovec of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren Jay Little, Mark Little, Karen Morrison, and Randy Machovec; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James on June 15, 1982, and two sisters Bessie Strachota and Libbie Navratil.

Rose Strachota was born icon on January 29, 1912 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Fred and Josephine (Pesina) Strachota. On September 24, 1932 she married James Machovec in Cedar Rapids. Rose was a homemaker, caring for her home and family. She loved all types of flowers. She also enjoyed gardening. It was an important social event for Rose to have people purchase the vegetables she had grown in her garden. In younger days James and Rose enjoyed going to dances and having card parties in their home. She was a member of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Turecek, Irene M.

Cemetery: Shueyville

Irene M. Turecek, 94, formerly of Springville, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids with Reverend George Bishop, officiating. Interment will follow at Shueyville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include a daughter Shirley (Vernon) Horak of Springville; a son Donald (Shirley) Turecek of Anamosa; sisters Ruth (Eugene) Kloubec, Helen Whiting, and Marian Edwards; sister-in-law, Wilma Bowersox; six grandchildren Russell (Becky) Horak, Diane (Steve) Jensen, Shari (Chris) Engel, Doug (Lesa) Turecek, Judy (Scott) Minzenmeyer, and Darcy Turecek; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great grandchild. Irene is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband Frank in 1971, brothers Howard Bowersox and Robert Bowersox, and sisters Lois Novotny, Grace Novotny, and Lucille Bys.

Irene was born icon on December 4, 1910 near Shueyville to James R. and Theo Bowersox. She was a graduate of Shueyville High School. She married Frank Turecek on April 6, 1929. She was a long-time member of the Springville Presbyterian Church. She retired from Bohemian Savings and Loan shortly after she and Frank moved to Springville in 1970.

A memorial fund has been established for Springville Presbyterian Church.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Linn Manor Care Center and Hospice of Mercy for the loving care given to Irene.
