Feckley, Virginia
Cemetery: Cedar Memorial Cemetery
Virginia Feckley, 83 of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Hiawatha Care Center after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Eden United Church of Christ with Rev. Glenn Hunt presiding. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Virginia was born
November 11, 1924 in Millersburg, the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Lohmann) Faas. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1942, and attended the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport. Virginia married Kenneth Feckley on January 1, 1944 in Marengo.
Virginia is survived by an older sister Marjorie Fiser of Yuma, AZ; her children: Kathry (Wayne) Vogt of Rochester, MN, Jeanne (Don) Rae of Allen, TX, Ed Feckley of Cedar Rapids, and Barb (Rich) Wagner of Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Anna, and her husband Kenneth on November 14, 1982.
Memorials may be directed to Eden United Church of Christ, and/or to the family to be used toward researching a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Peyton, Lacey Zhenli
Cemetery: Cedar Memorial Cemetery
Lacey Zhenli Peyton, 2 year old daughter of Bart and Kris Peyton, went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 18, 2008. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at First Assembly of God with Pastor Rick Gail presiding. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Lacey was born
May 23, 2005 in Gao Shao City, China. Lacey was a precious gift from God and a joy to everyone who met her. She is survived by her parents Bart and Kris Peyton; brothers Chaz and Vaughn Peyton all of Marion; paternal grandparents Ron and Helen Peyton of Hampton; maternal grandparents Terry Phillips and Dale Bangasser of Waterloo; and her godmother Alicia LaKose of Marion.

Werner, Robert Roy
Cemetery: Oakland Cemetery
Robert Roy Werner, 90 of Solon died Saturday, February 23 at his home from a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, at the Solon United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Meador presiding. Full military rites will be conducted by the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460. Burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.
Robert was born
June 23, 1917 in Winfield, the son of Benelius F. and Margaret Maye McCullough Werner. Robert was raised on the family farm with his brothers and sisters. He served in the U.S. Navy with the 6th Seabees in the Pacific Islands during World War II. On December 19, 1945 he married Bernice Burmeister in Iowa City. Roy worked as a crane operator and built many highway bridges in Iowa, the last one being the City Park Bridge in Iowa City. In 1961, he built the first permanent house in Twin View Heights. He worked at Penick & Ford for fourteen years and retired from Midland Forge. He enjoyed working on his brother in laws farms, building projects, hunting pheasants with his sons, floating on Lake McBride with his family and wintering in Yuma, Arizona the last twelve years.
Robert is survived by his wife of over 62 years Bernice, sons Thomas Robert Werner of Solon and Scott Roy Werner of Stillwater, Minnesota; three grandchildren Laura (Chris) Powers of Akeley, Minnesota, Shane Werner of Rockford, Illinois, and Rebecca Werner of Akeley, Minnesota; and a great-granddaughter Miranda Powers of Akeley, Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and seven sisters.

Buresh, Lenora Lillian
Cemetery: Buresh Cemetery
Lenora Lillian Buresh, 88 of Ely died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center from a brief illness. Funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Buresh Cemetery, near Ely. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids where there will be a 6 p.m. vigil.
Lenora was born
January 18, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Louis and Libbie (Buresh) Barta. She married Wesley Buresh on April 12, 1939 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Lenora enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a devoted mother, farm and housewife.
Lenora is survived by her daughter Sharon (Don) Pfab of Coggon; sons Glenn (Frances) Buresh, Ben (Ranae) Buresh and Wes (Margie) Buresh all of Ely; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wesley on September 25, 2007; granddaughter Debbie Buresh; sisters Agnes Kiberger and Clara Cerveny; and a brother Louis Barta Jr.

McLaughlin, Francis "Sonny" Eugene
Francis “Sonny” McLaughlin, 77 of 1318 18th Avenue SW, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center from a brief illness. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Edgewood Family Fellowship, formerly Edgewood Baptist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Sonny was born
June 30, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Velma (Hall) McLaughlin. He married Mary Sansone in Tampa, Florida. He worked for over 40 years for Hennesseys, and as an over the road truck driver until his retirement. He earned the 4 Million Miles Award for safe driving during his career. He was a 50 year member of the Operators Engineers #234. Sonny was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman.
Sonny is survived by his wife Mary; their cat Queenie; sister Sharon Lindroth of Cedar Rapids; brother Jack (Sharon) McLaughlin of Swisher; sister-in-law Angela (John) Seary of Hot Springs, AK; brother-in-law Glenn Cumberland of Urbana, and O.J. Monday of Alaska; and a special brother-in-law Tony Sansone of Waterloo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William McLaughlin and Velma Brick; sister Georgia Cumberland; brothers-in-law Scott Lindroth, Bill Sansone, and Bob Sansone; and sisters in law JoAnne (Jerry) Parsons and Anthinette “Toni” Monday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff on 4th Floor at Mercy, especially Gretchen, Nicole and Dr. Ghosh for their special care of Sonny.
Benish, Edwin
Cemetery: Czech National Cemetery
Edwin Benish, 96 of 8508 Walford Road, Fairfax, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 from a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Edwin was born
March 20, 1912 in rural Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank and Callie Pirkl Benish. He married Wilma Schlueter on August 27, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. Edwin and Wilma farmed together for many years in rural Fairfax. They enjoyed going on trips that took them many places. Edwin enjoyed fishing at their cabin every summer, hunting in his younger day, wood working (especially scroll work made for his family), playing cards with his family and many friends, and gardening (especially raising hosta). Edwin was a member of C.S.A., WFLA Lodge #400 for over fifty years, Linn County Farm Bureau; and Fairfax Senior Citizens.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Wilma of 73 years; 3 daughters: Donna Berger of rural Amana, Bonnie (Jerry) Becicka of rural Swisher, and Judy (Wayne) Slezak of rural Swisher; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leona Mihal of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leonard and Robert; his son, Donald and his son-in-law Dean Berger.
A memorial fund has been established in Edwin’s memory.
Beranek, Yvonne Ellen
Cemetery: Cedar Memorial Cemetery
Yvonne Ellen Beranek, 73 of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, April 05, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital after battling a long courageous battle with COPD. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids located at 1028 3rd Street SE, with Rev. Tom Carver presiding. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Yvonne was born
April 7, 1934, in Iowa City, the daughter of Orval and Pearl (Dunlap) Kruse. Yvonne graduated from Wilson High School in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart Bernard Beranek on December 26, 1952.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Bernie, son Terry (Fran) of Cedar Rapids, two daughters Joni (Gary) King of Eldridge and Cindy (Hoeger) Beranek of Toddville; six grandchildren Corey (Stacie) King of Coralville, Kristi(Nick) Cummins of Bettendorf, Chad and Carrie Hoeger, Jenny (Rick) Rigel, Lynn (Karren) Smith; three great-grandchildren Colin and Allyson Cummins, Alexander Rigel; a sister Donna (Bruce) Nunemaker; two brothers Jim(Kathy) and Dean Kruse all of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Richard “Dick” Kruse.
Yvonne and Bernie owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store on 16th Avenue in Cedar Rapids for 20 years. Yvonne worked at Sadler Power Train in the early 80’s after the store was sold. She enjoyed bowling, trapshooting, fishing trips to Canada, boating, golfing and traveling. After retiring they spent their winters in Port Isabel, Texas until her illness caused them to stay in Iowa.
Yvonne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all.
