Wullner, Gretchen Elizabeth

Gretchen Elizabeth (Fowler) Wullner, 93 of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Monday, June 8, 2009 at Crestview Acres Nursing Home. A brief memorial service will be from 2 until 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2009 at Kingston Hill, located at 202 12th Street NW. A Celebration of Life will be from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. Friday at Kingston Hill. Please come and share your memories with the family. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Gretchen was born icon August 30, 1915 in Lewistown, Montana, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Parrott) Budweiser. Gretchen was all about being around people. She wanted everyone to be happy and have full stomachs. She loved her family and often would play card games and cribbage. She loved talking to young people and was an animal lover.

Gretchen is survived by nine children, Jeanette (Ray) Black, Raymond (Nancy) Harvey, Jerome (Lucy) Harvey, Penny Harvey, Pat Fowler (Julie Kruser), Mike (Connie) Fowler, Coleen (Greg) Kint, Tim (Joyce) Fowler, and Deb (John) McCracken; 20 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Little Paws Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 14, Mt. Vernon, 52314, or your favorite charity in her memory.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Cynthia Squires, Kingston Hill, Crestview Acres, and Mercy Hospice for all they have done.

Wilson, Doris Emma

Cemetery: St. Josephs Cemetery

Doris Emma Lackender Wilson, 90 of Solon, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at her home. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon with Fr. David Wilkening presiding. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Solon where there will be 6 p.m. vigil service.

Doris was born icon January 7, 1919 in rural Iowa City, the daughter of Jacob and Emma Vitosh Lackender. She married James Wilson on January 31, 1940 in Iowa City. Doris was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed family get togethers as well as travelling with Jim.

Doris is survived by her sons, Dr. Michael (Martha) Wilson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Richard (Sharon) Wilson of Grinnell, Thomas (Tedi) Wilson of Solon, Larry (Colette) Wilson of Grinnell, Ronald Wilson of Galesburg, Illinois, and Paul Wilson of Iowa City; daughters, Barbara (Lyle) Wilkes of Dorchester, Martha Wilson of Grayslake, Illinois, Sarah (Dr. Richard) Ceragioli of Flossmoor, Illinois, and Marianne (Nick) Hill of Clinton, Missouri; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson on January 3, 1996 and a sister Darlene Doyle.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Schloss, Herman G.

Cemetery: Shiloh Cemetery

Herman G. Schloss, 92 of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. A memorial service will be 4 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2009 at First Church of the Open Bible. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Herman was born icon February 16, 1917 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Herman Hirsh and Katherine Sommers Schloss. He married Dorothy Hutchison on November 20, 1938 in Cedar Rapids. After 45 years of employment, Herman retired from Rock Island Railroad in 1980 where he served as the Auditor of Station Accounts. Herman enjoyed playing his guitar, both professionally and personally, for over 80 years.

Herman is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schloss of Cedar Rapids; his son, Dennis (Judy) Schloss of Los Osos, CA; granddaughters, Lydia Schloss and Caitlin Schloss; grandson, Jack Thomas Schultz; and brothers, Richard Schloss of Hiawatha, and Roger Schloss of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and John, and sisters, Mary, Kay, Pauline, Pat, and Ruth Jean.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lnenicka, Irene Joyce

Cemetery: Campbell Cemetery

Irene Joyce Lnenicka, 79 of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy with her loving family by her side. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW, with Reverend Kurt Veenstra presiding. Burial will follow in Campbell Cemetery in Bertram. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids and an hour prior to services Tuesday.

Irene was born icon December 2, 1929 in Lancaster, Missouri, the daughter of Theodore and Florence Ballew Bragg. She married Rudolph Lnenicka on October 12, 1963 in Oquawka, Illinois. She worked at Rockwell Collins for many years until her retirement. Irene has served as the Bertram Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Among her hobbies were horseshoes, playing cards, quilting, bowling, camping, collecting butterflies and cooking.

Irene is survived by her husband Rudy; sons Johnny Burgher (Shar) of Martelle and Mark Lnenicka of Newhall; daughters Donna (Larry) Bowers of Coggon, Terry Veenstra of Cedar Rapids, Deb (Steve) Clair of Cedar Rapids, Ruth (Bill) Cellman of Oxford and Peggy (R.J.) Graves of Cedar Rapids; fourteen grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren; brother Bud (Barbara) Bragg of Fremont, California, Richard (Karen) Bragg of Springville and a sister Connie (Bob) Lang of Cedar Rapids; a sister in law Linda Bragg of Ely; brother in law Bob (Darlene) Lnenicka of Bertram and Leonard Lnenicka of Center Point; and a sister in law Angeline Brown of Bertram.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Betty, a brother Purley Bragg; sister in laws Bonnie Lnenicka and Wilma Kulhavy, and brother in laws Ed Brown and Edwin Lnenicka, mother in law and father in law Edward and Agnes Svoboda Lnenicka.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mercy Hospice and the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Mercy Medical Center and Dr. Richard Louvar for their exceptional care for Irene.

Browning Sr., Lucious

Lucious C. Browning, 93 of Cedar Rapids died Thursday, July 2, 2009. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Gospel Tabernacle Church with burial to follow in Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangments.

Schut, Ardis Ruth

Cemetery: Oakwood Cemetery ~ Pella

Ardis Ruth Klein Schut, 92 of Solon, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Solon Nursing Care Center. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Visitation will be half an hour prior to services at Brosh Chapel in Solon. A private family inurnment will follow Saturday August 22, 2009 in Pella.

Ardis was born icon January 12, 1917 in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur ‘Aartje’ and Antoinette (Neels) Klein. Ardis married Harold J. Schut on September 2, 1937 in Pella. Harold passed away in 2000. Ardis attended Central College in Pella and graduated with courses at State University of Albany in New York. She was a secretary, bookkeeper, minister’s wife, tax advisor, and teacher. She and Harold lived in Iowa, New York State, South Carolina, Colorado, Chicago, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and St. Thomas Virgin Islands. They loved to travel and saw all of the 48 contiguous states and traveled to Europe, Israel, and Venezuela. She was a member of PEO, and Solon United Methodist Church.

Ardis is survived by her son, Arthur Schut of Westminster, CO; daughter Martha (Doug Peters) Schut of Iowa City; grandchildren, Joshua Schut, Rachel Schut, and Aaron Schut; step grandchildren, Jenifer (Michael) Kaufman, Sean (Sarah) Daly, Kathleen (Hugh) Golden, Colin (Amy) Daly, Matthew (Jessica) Peters, Timothy (Evy Pinto) Peters, and Anne Peters; 13 great grandchildren; her brother, Paul (Jean) Klein of Lake Oswego, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, and loving cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Solon Care Center, Iowa City Hospice, and/or Solon Education Foundation (Schut Fund).

Gaylord William Trappe

May 30, 1915 - April 21, 2004

Funeral Service: 1:30 P.M. April 26, 2004 at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Monona, IA

Interment: at Monona City Cemetery

Gaylord William Trappe, 88, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a brief illness. He was born icon May 30, 1915 on the family farm in rural Monona, to Victor and Ella (Kurth) Trappe. Gaylord received his education in the country schools. He farmed his entire life. Gaylord enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, dancing and fixing fence. Survivors include his five brothers, Willard (Lucille), Charles City, Elmer (Mary) Manley, Emmet (friend Vanita Shaw), Monona, Herb (Donna), Monona, Robert (Sharon) Monona; fifteen nieces and nephews and many friends. Gaylord was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Trappe. Lunch will be served following the funeral service.

Moore, Gerald Anton

Cemetery: Czech National Cemetery

Gerald Anton Moore, 87 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Methwick Community. Private family services will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery.

Gerald was born icon February 8, 1922 in Neligh, Nebraska, the son of Anton and Lulu Peterson Moore. He married Prudence Nelsen on November 2, 1941 in Neligh, Nebraska. Gerald served in the U.S. Naval Reserve during World War II as a Warrant Officer. He worked for the Civilian Naval Air Transport., Pacific Division, out of Fairfield, Ca. He operated Ainsworth Aero Repair in Ainsworth, Ne. from 1947-1953. He was service manager for Dakota Aviation in Huron, S.D. from 1954-59. He retired from Northern Natural Gas Aviation Dept in 1986. He had been active in Civil Air Patrol in Nebraska and S. Dakota in the 50's and 60's. He started a ciruit board business MORTEC after retirement. Gerald was a member of Central Park U.C.C., and later Northwest Hills U.C.C. in Omaha, Ne.

Gerald is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Jim) Macek of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jamie (Bill) Golden of Milaca, MN, Brian (Kelly) Macek of Cedar Rapids, Kathy (Chris) Rix of Elk Grove, CA, and Jessica Brown of Tahatchapi, CA; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Reice Golden, Chazesin Higgins, Annabelle Brown, Ava and Annabelle Macek, and Lilly Rix; sisters, Donna Vinci of Sullivan, IL, and Virginia Tingle of Kearney, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Prudence in 2006, and his daughter Patti in 1995.

Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
