Tucker, Edwin Ray

Edwin Ray Tucker, 84 of Marion, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Crestview Acres in Marion. Services are pending with Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.

Edwin was born icon September 4, 1925 in Strawberry Point, the son of Henry and Grace Tucker. Her married Lawann Marcella Stocks on November 3, 1946 in Dundee, Iowa.

Edwin is survived by his daughter, Anna Oliver of Marion; sons, David Tucker and Roger Tucker of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Marcella Heald of Belle Plaine, Brandon Tucker of Cedar Rapids, and Jennifer Tucker of Waterloo; and 1 great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lawann; son, Donald Tucker; and brother, Marvin Tucker.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 1175 Mitchell Drive, Marion, Iowa, 52302.

Siver, Thomas A.

Cemetery: Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa

Thomas Armstrong Siver, 76 of Anamosa, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Jones Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Anamosa First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Anamosa First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements.

Tom was born icon in Martelle, the son of Arthur and Mae (Armstrong) Siver. He graduated from Martelle High School and attended Iowa State University. He served 2 years in the United States Army during the Korean War. Tom married Nola Townsend in Anamosa. He farmed for 30 years and drove semi for 20 years. Tom enjoyed attending their children’s activities, family vacations, traveling, reading, bowling, listening to gospel music, fishing, boating, working at Walmart, and farming.

Thomas was a member and deacon of the Anamosa First Baptist Church, Sunday School Teacher, and a past elder of the Martelle Christian Church, member and President of the Jones County Farm Bureau, 4-H Leader and an American Legion Color Guard.

Tom is survived by his wife Nola of 54 years, sons Thomas Jon (Linda) Siver of Storm Lake, Jeffrey (Mary Ann) Siver of Tyler, Texas; daughter Jill Elliott of Anamosa; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sisters La Verta (Lou) Langenberg of Mechanicsville and Anne (Ken) Denger of Perry.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Jones County American Cancer Society or the Anamosa Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Silverman, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Veterans’ Administration, Monticello Hospice Above & Beyond, and Jones County Region Medical Center.

Tom’s friendliness will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him.

Jamerson, Timothy Robert

Cemetery: Cedar Memorial Cemetery

Timothy Robert Jamerson, 51 of Phoenix, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, January 22 in his home. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 31 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with a Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m. Private family inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Tim was born icon September 23, 1958 in Waterloo, the son of Robert and Glennes Burger Jamerson. He graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo. He married June Burkholder on March 8, 1980 in Cedar Falls at St. Patricks Catholic Church. He attended the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Education. While at UNI he was very active in Track and Field. He was an All-American Pole Vaulter in 1979. Tim worked at Allen Motor Company and for Ar-Jay Center both in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Phoenix in 2006 and worked as a respite care provider for United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona providing care for his nephew Nicholas Jamerson.

Tim is survived by his daughters Sarah (Justin) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids and Stephanie (Derc) Albrecht of Ankeny; a grandson Jordan Zimmerman; his parents Bob and Glennes Jamerson, sisters Susan (Jack) Thayer, Kris (Jim) Wahl, and Lori (Roger) Keegan; brothers Craig (Peggy) Jamerson and Paul Jamerson; ten nieces and nephews and one great-nephew all of the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Tim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harold and Bernice Jamerson and maternal grandparents Burton and Norma Burger as well as his brother Robert Jamerson.

Memorials may be directed in Tim’s name to either United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona as well as the UNI Track & Field Department and can be sent to PO Box 10542 Cedar Rapids, IA 52410-0542.

Crawford, Charles B.

Charles B. Crawford, 87 of Atkins, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Charles was born icon January 20, 1923 in Sheridan, Wyoming, the son of Charles Bert and Gladys (Olsen) Crawford.

Charles is survived by his children, Charlene (Jerry) Magstadt of California, Marcelene (Larry) Olson of Iowa, and Broch (Teresa) Crawford of Arizona; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his brother, Bill Crawford of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Murphy, "Vi" Violet

Cemetery: St. George Cemetery

“Vi” Violet (Shadid) Murphy, 90, of Cedar Rapids died Thursday, September 2, 2010. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with Fr. Fred Shaheen presiding. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 7 p.m. Trisagion Service. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangments.

Vi was born icon July 14, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Raymond F. and Elizabeth (Solomon) Shadid. She married Thomas F. Murphy on November 15, 1943 in Alexandria, VA. Tom died October 11, 1982.

Vi proudly joined WAC (Women’s Army Corp.) and served her country in the United States Army during WWII after which she attended and graduated from Cedar Rapids Business College.

Together, Vi and Tom owned Murphy Employment Service from 1956 to 1991. Vi belonged to the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Altrusa, Cedar Rapids Women’s Golf Association, USBC, National Bowling Association, and Cedar Rapids Bowling. She was a lifetime member of St. George Orthodox Church. Vi enjoyed golf and bowling and was an active Hawkeye and Cubs fan. In addition, she loved going to Las Vegas!

Vi is survived by her daughter Chris Murphy of Cedar Rapids; her son Dennis R. (Kay) Murphy of Bettendorf; grandchildren Laura (Jeff) Kaufman, Tom (Kate) Murphy, Lisa Murphy, Don (Jennifer) Murphy, and Michele Bellamy; great-grandsons Jack Murphy, Ryan Murphy, and Zane Kaufman; great- granddaughters Rachel Murphy & Whitney Bellamy, and her sister Mary Shadid of Wichita, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tom; a daughter Teri in 1986; and her brothers Frank Shadid and George Shadid.

Memorials may be directed to Taylor Elementary School Computer Lab and St. George Orthodox Church.

Dannels, Nova

Nova Meyer Dannels, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at St. Lukes Hospital. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7 at the First Christian Church, located at 840 3rd Avenue SE. As per Nova’s wishes her body was deeded to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline (Gary) Hootman of Cedar Rapids; three grandsons Gary K. (Ann) Hootman, Richard (Becky) Hootman and Howard E. Hootman; twenty great grandchildren and twenty five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard.

She was an active volunteer at the History Center and a closing secretary at several real estate firms in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the DAR and the Swisher American Legion Auxillary. She enjoyed gardening.

Memorials may be directed to the History Center in Nova’s name.

Schaffer, Steven

Steven Schaffer, 58 of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, following a sudden illness. As per Steve’s wishes private family services will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

Feiereisen, Margaret

Cemetery: Czech National Cemetery

Margaret Ann Feiereisen, 79 of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, August 22, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with Reverend W. Bramwell Harnish presiding. A private family burial will be in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the chapel. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 61 years Richard, son Carl and wife Debbie of Boyers, Pennsylvania, and her daughter Diana of Cedar Rapids, and daughter-in-law Sally Thurmond of Carrolton, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; Bethany Daly and husband Dan of Waterloo, Tonya Evans and husband Ken of Fort Washington, Maryland, John and Rebecca Feiereisen of Waterloo, and Jeff and wife Stephanie of Springfield, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Claire, Elyse, Julia, Xiomara. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Margaret is also survived by many special friends, including Anne and Tim Hague, Rocky and Karen Pence, Rod and Kathy Mefford.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, in-laws John and Francis Feiereisen, Dorothy and Milo Kubasa, her sister Bernice Stastny and husband Tom, her son, Richard Feiereisen, her daughter, Cynthia Lightfoot, and her son-in-Law, John Lightfoot.

Margaret was born icon May 15, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Stanley and Magdalene Klepach She married Richard Feiereisen in 1949 and made Cedar Rapids her lifelong home. She was a longtime member of Hus Presbyterian Church and worked at Joey’s Drive-In in Cedar Rapids making doughnuts and constantly letting in customers before opening time. She was as loving and as giving of a woman as one could find, especially when it came to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and any animal she came across. All the dogs in the neighborhood knew they could find their way to her door for a treat and a good pet. She loved all the children that ever found themselves lucky enough to meet her and most of them will always remember to tighter than usual hugs and candy that she gave out at will.
