Lester Philip Lembke, 92, of Elkader, IA, died Sunday morning, May 2, 2004, at the Elkader Care Center, following a long illness. He was born
September 12, 1911, in Read Township to George and Anna (Uecker) Lembke. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace United Church of Christ. He attended Denmark country school and graduated in 1930, from Elkader High School. On May 9, 1939, he was united in marriage to Roslyn Ihde at Clayton Center. They had one daughter, Geraldine. After her death in 1968, Lester and Roslyn raised their granddaughter, Richine. Lester was a life long farmer, and farmed on the home place until moving to Elkader in 1994. Lester enjoyed spending time with family, rural life and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Roslyn Lembke, Elkader; his granddaughter, Richine Sartain, her husband Jim and great-grandson, Ryan of North Liberty; a sister, Florence Gossman, Elkader and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Geraldine and two brothers, Roy and Elmer Lembke.

December 30, 1956, in Manchester, to Warren and Mazie (Trottnow) Schwietert. Dave had been living in Monticello, and worked for Mediacom Cable Company. He enjoyed working with people in the cable TV industry. Survivors include his mother, Mazie Schwietert, Colesburg; his twin sister, Deb (John) Ross, Colesburg; two brothers, Bob Schwietert, Manchester and Kenneth (Helen Grimes) Schwietert, Colesburg and nieces and nephews, Johnny, Jeff, Adam and Amber Ross. He was preceded in death by his father. A David Schwietert memorial fund has been established

Orlando William Fascher, 83, Monona, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, following a short illness. Orlando was born
on August 20, 1920, to Fred and Martha (Kuhse) Fascher on the family farm near Farmersburg. He graduated from Farmersburg High School in 1938. He was united in marriage to June Holly on September 10, 1945, at Peace United Church of Christ parsonage in Elkader. Four children were born
to this union. Orlando and June farmed near Farmersburg until their retirement in 1980. They continued living on the farm until 1996, when they moved to Monona. Orlando was an avid sports fan, enjoying hunting and fishing. He played sports in high school and enjoyed watching all sports at all levels. He was especially proud of his grandchildren�s achievements. Survivors include his wife, June Fascher, Monona; daughters, Becky (John) Rugland, Little Rock, AR, Kristy (Bill) Garms, Monona, Renee (Dave) Storkson, Prairie du Chien, WI; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Orlando was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Stephen Fascher, one grandson, Kyle Storkson, two brothers, Ewald Fascher and Otto Fascher and three sisters, Elsie Sanger, Adele Lenth and Elenor Wilkinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg.

Alfred E. 'Fritz' Thole, 75 of Manchester, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a brief illness. He was born
October 27, 1928, in rural Petersburg to Frank and Eleanore (Fangmann) Thole. He was united in marriage to Clarinda Klostermann on November 21, 1949, in Dyersville. They made their home in Manchester where Fritz and his family farmed for many years. Survivors include his wife, Clarinda Thole of Manchester; his children, James (Linda) Thole of Manchester, Dianne (Jeff) Larsen, of Manchester, Rick (Kris) Thole of Manchester, Joyce (Brian) Lambert of St. Cloud, Florida, David Thole of Manchester, and Allan Thole of Red Oak, a daughter-in-law Kathy (Frank) Kelm of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; brother and sisters, Linus Thole of Dyersville, Alice (Richard) Olberding of Dyersville, Viola (Erwin) Klostermann of Manchester, and Rita (Floyd) Feldman of Hopkinton; and sister-in-law Berniece Thole of Dyersville. Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; brothers, Charles and Francis Thole; sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann (Fred) Wessels, brothers-in-law, Cletus Feldman, and Elmer Ries; and sister-in-law Bernadine Thole.
He attended St. Peter & Paul School in Petersburg.
He was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Catholic Order of Forresters. He was a former member of the Maquoketa Valley School Board, Maquoketa Valley Booster Club, Delaware County Pork Producers, and Farm Bureau.

Allison Lee Fuelling, 76, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Guttenberg, following a short illness. He was born
on July 25, 1927, in Farmersburg to Edward and Effie (Henkes) Fuelling. Allison was baptized on October 13, 1927, at Garnavillo by Rev. Braun and was confirmed on April 7, 1946, in St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg by Rev. R.H. Steege. He attended Eno Country School through the eighth grade. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kalke on Januay 14, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center. Five children were born
to this union. Allison farmed near Farmersburg until he retired, moved to Farmersburg for twelve years, and then moved to Monona. He collected caps and toy tractors. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Allison liked to visit with neighbors; friends and he had a kind heart for everyone. He especially enjoyed his visits with his buddy Freckles. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, Monona; his children, Jeanne (Joel) Brown, Elkader, John (Becky) Fuelling, Monona, Pat (Boe) Echard, Monona, Jim (Julie) Fuelling, Luana, Bill (Sue) Fuelling, Monona; seventeen grandchildren; seven grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn (Dr. Joseph) LaManna II, Dallas, TX; his mother-in-law, Miranda Kalke, Monona; one brother-in-law, David Kalke, San Bernardino, CA and many friends. Allison was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Carle, LeRoy and Robert.

Penny L. (Bloudek) Schwendinger, 42, of Cedarville, IL formerly of Dundee died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at her home in Cedarville after a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 23, 1961 in Eldora, Iowa she was the daughter of Gene and Genevieve (Badger) Bloudek. She married Leo 'Lee' R. Schwendinger October 1, 1988 in Dubuque, Iowa. . Surviving are her husband, Lee of Cedarville, Illinois; one son, Kyle A. Schwendinger of Cedarville, Illinois; her mother, Genevieve Bloudek of Manchester; two sisters, Pamela Brown of Fulton, Illinois and Melanie 'Lynn' (Dwayne) Hettinger of Dundee; one brother, Robert (Rebecca) Bloudek of Ridgecrest, California. Her father preceded her in death.
Penny graduated from West Delaware High School in Manchester and attended Northeast Iowa Community College and Western Illinois University
A former Activity Director at Oakley Courts in Freeport and a former Domestic Abuse Advocate, she was a proud 'stay at home' Mom. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church she participated in AYSO and YMCA youth league.
To honor her wish, in lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name for her son's future education.
