Denise Patricia Sullivan was born icon August 18, 1954, in Manchester to Donald P. and Elizabeth M. (Haas) Sullivan. In 1976, she was united in marriage to Larry Madlom, they had one daughter Mechelle. They were later divorced in 1983. Denise is survived by one daughter Mechelle Fisher and special friend Todd Hedtke of Maple Grove, Minnesota; her mother, Elizabeth Sullivan of Manchester; four brothers and one sister, Daniel (Sharren) Sullivan of Walker, LA, David (Janet) Sullivan of Aurelia, Dennis (Marilyn) Sullivan of Edgewood, DeeAnn Sullivan and special friend, Loras Sabers of Manchester, and D.J. (Carla) Sullivan of Manchester; an aunt, Monica Sullivan of Cedar Rapids; thirteen nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald P. Sullivan in 1995.

She was raised and educated in Manchester and graduated in 1972 from West Delaware High School. She attended college and earned her B.A. at Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids.

Denise was a director of Kinder Care in Waterloo, lived in Cedar Falls, and moved back to Manchester. Since 1987, she taught fourth grade at St. Mary's Catholic School in Manchester. She also taught summer school. Denise was a member of St. Mary�s Church, was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and enjoyed working with kids.

Robert Fred Williamson

January 27, 1937 - April 06, 2004

Robert Fred Williamson, 67, and his wife, Kay Frances Williamson, 64, of Guttenberg, died on April 6, 2004, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident near Guttenberg. Robert was born icon January 27, 1937, in Chicago, IL to Robert and Grace (Hudrlik) Williamson. Survivors include five children, Robert Williamson Jr., Columbus, OH, Roxanne Schmitz, Baldwin, Richard Williamson, Hull, GA, Rochelle Berg, Elwood and Russell Williamson, Baldwin; two sisters, Sally Baker, Oxford and Pam Martin, Clinton and a brother, Steve Hudrlik, Lowden. Kay was born icon December 3, 1939, in Colesburg, IA to James and Nadine Bissell. Survivors include three sisters, Kate Bente, Elkader, Marie Lowell, Guttenberg and Hulda Honn, Longmont, CO and a brother, John Bissell, Monona. Their wishes were to be cremated and no services. Leonard Funeral Home, Edgewood in charge of arrangements.

Kay Frances Williamson

Robert Fred Williamson, 67, and his wife, Kay Frances Williamson, 64, of Guttenberg, died on April 6, 2004, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident near Guttenberg. Albert Harlan Bottelman, 85, Edgewood, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital following a long illness. He was born icon December 28, 1918, in Littleport to Henry and Rhoda (Lamphere) Bottelman. He was united in marriage to Betty Jo Burgin on December 21, 1946 in Manchester, IA. They were divorced in July of 1972. Albert married Evelyn Forsythe on June 17, 1978 in Nashua, IA. He was a foreman at Spahn and Rose Lumber Company in Edgewood for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Bottelman, Edgewood; his five sons, Alan (Marilyn) Bottelman, Pomona Park, FL, Alvin Bottelman, Pomona Park, FL, Bert (Beth) Bottelman, Edgewood, Mike (Tammy) Bottelman, Pomona Park FL and Matt Hartbeck, Lake Como, FL; three daughters, Laura (Mark) Klingner, Lamont, Lillie (Stan) Stoltz, Lake Helen, FL and Betsy (Richard) Todd, Welaka, FL; four step-daughters, Deb (Robert) Kauffman, Chariton, Susan (Jon) Suhr, Oelwein, Bev (Dave) Bolsinger, Edgewood and Peggy Fry (Shane Howard) Donnellson; two step-sons, Tim Bemrose, Edgewood, Lynn Fry, Edgewood; thirty one grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; twenty-six step-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Battin, Edgewood and many nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Bottelman and Louie Bottelman; and two sisters, Pauline Burgin and Minnie Plagman.

David Jerome Carolan

David Jerome Carolan, 68, of Elkader, IA, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness. He was born icon July 8, 1935 in Dubuque, IA to Raphael and Gertrude (Willson) Carolan. He was united in marriage to La Rae Kussatz on November 3, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elkader. David was in the retail business in Elkader for twenty years. In his later years, he enjoyed solving the problems of the world with his friends at the “round table”. David’s favorite pastimes were reading, and the many fishing trips he took with his family in northern Minnesota. Survivors include his wife, La Rae of forty-eight years; five sons, Stephen and wife Linda of Peoria, IL, Daniel and special friend, Kelly of St. Olaf, Michael and wife Catherine of Viola, Robert and wife Beverly of Dubuque and Thomas and wife Shannon of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Jennifer of Coralville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Gertrude Carolan of Elkader; a brother, Douglas and wife Lois of Overland Park, KS and two sisters, Janice and Robert Hamilton of Barrington, IL and Viki Carolan and husband Howard Mayer of Elkader. A daughter and his father preceded David in death. There will be no visitation; David deeded his body for medical research at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

David Duane Hicks was born icon May 8, 1960, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, Iowa, to Oscar William Hicks and Phyllis (Nelson) Hicks. At the age of two, the family moved to Manchester where David attended West Delaware Schools. For the last twenty plus years, David has spent his life in Arizona and the Washington-Oregon area. David Duane Hicks formerly of Manchester, died March 31, 2004, in Ontario, Oregon after a lengthy illness. He was forty-three years of age. Survivors include his parents, Oscar (Charlotte) Hicks of Manchester, and Phyllis (Roger) Gordon of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Larry (Betty) Hicks of Manchester, Mike (Kristi) Hicks of Marion, and Bill Hicks of Denver, Colorado; twin sisters, Melissa (Joe) Rempt of Coralville and Melinda (Anthony) Czarkowski of Downers Grove, Illinois; maternal grandparents, Marion & Lolita Nelson of Cedar Rapids; step brothers Randy Rempt of Cedar Rapids and John (Debbie) Gordon of Alburnett; step sisters, Christine (Dave) Argotsinger of Mt. Vernon, Terrie Solomon of Marion, Jan (Tom) Dole of Anamosa, Cyndy Vogel of Elbe, Washington; and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Arleta Nelson and paternal grandparents, Oscar D. and Hattie Hicks.

Hattie A. Phelps, 94, of 500 Line St., Manchester, IA, formerly of Edgewood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at her home, following a lengthy illness. She was born icon on August 7, 1909 at Volga City, IA, Clayton Co., the daughter of William and Gertrude (McFall) Jones. She was united in marriage to Eben L. Phelps on September 12, 1928 in Fayette, IA. Hattie worked at the egg plant, Muters, and was the main cook at the Strand Café in Edgewood for the last ten years prior to her retirement in 1979. Survivors include her four daughters, Linda Chambers (special friend Urban Feltes), Manchester, Marieta (Myron) Smith, Monroe, WI, Louise (Gus) Lutz, Elkader and Ina (Robert) Davis, Dundee; a son, Vern (Georgia) Phelps, Deputy, IN; twenty-nine grandchildren; sixty-five great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Marge) Jones, Edgewood and a special daughter-in-law, Shirley Phelps, Madison, IN. Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Wayne Phelps, three daughters, Margaret Crary, Vivian Knospe and Mabel Phelps, six brothers, Lloyd, Dale, Bert, Vern, Sid and Abe Jones and three sisters, Goldie Harbaugh, Mertie Cruiser and Alberta Funk.

Geraldine Mabel “Jeri” Hoisington, 62, Edgewood, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a long illness. She was born icon August 15, 1941, to John B. and June (Livingston) Hansel in Rockford, IL. On April 27, 1963, she was united in marriage to Charles Hoisington in Rockford, IL. Two children were born icon to this union. Jeri was a homemaker who loved to spend time with her family, watch movies, Elvis Presley, collecting music boxes and ceramic dolls. Survivors include her husband, Charles, Edgewood; her sons, Scott (Elizabeth) Hoisington, Colesburg and Michael (Crystal) Hoisington, Oelwein; five grandchildren; brother, John (Rita) Hansel, Rockford, IL; sister, Vicky (Hansel) Rowley, Rockham, SD and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merlin and Shirley Hoisington, Edgewood and several nieces and nephews. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents.
