Kymm Marie Gerleman, 17, Monona, died Monday, November 29, 2004, rural Postville, following injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born icon February 24, 1987, in Decorah to Duane and Marsha (Everman) Gerleman. Kymm was baptized November 7, 1987, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, and confirmed October 29, 2001, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. She loved spending time with family and friends, music, scrap booking, all animals, especially her puppy Boozer. Kymm received the MFL MarMac Academic Award, United States Achievement Award, National Society of High School Scholars and President’s Education Awards Program in recognition of outstanding educational improvement. Survivors include her parents, Duane and Marsha (Everman) Gerleman; three siblings, Veronica (Seth) Colvin, Belleview, FL, Kristopher Gerleman, Lemoore, CA, Danielle Gerleman, Ossian; paternal grandmother, Leona Gerleman, Ossian; maternal grandfather, Harold Everman, Postville and one niece, Kylie Colvin. Kymm was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Hugo Gerleman and her maternal grandmother, Betty Everman.

Elverna M. "Brockmeyer" Bellamy
February 23, 1926 - November 27, 2004
Manchester, Iowa

Interment: December 03, 2004 at Edgewood Cemetery - Edgewood, Iowa

Elverna Mae was born icon on February 23, 1926, to Clarence and Loida (Koeneke) Brockmeyer at Edgewood, Iowa. She attended Woodcenter rural school, Edgewood High School and graduated from Manchester High School in 1944. Elverna was united in marriage to Ralph Bellamy on June 18, 1944, in Manchester. Together they lived in Manchester until in 1953, moved to Oelwein, lived in Hawkeye, and moved to Arkansas in 1978. While living in Oelwein, she worked for Oelwein Chemical Company for eighteen years. Elverna did childcare when she lived in Arkansas. Ralph died on January 14, 2000, and Elverna moved back to Manchester in 2002. Elverna died on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester after a brief illness. She was seventy-eight years of age. She is survived by one son, James (Karen) Bellamy of Parker, Colorado; one daughter Sharon (Cliff) Root of Simi Valley, California; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arlyn (Dorothy) Brockmeyer of Manchester, Neil (Jean) Brockmeyer of Delhi, and Bob (Carol) Brockmeyer of Manchester. Elverna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bellamy; a son and daughter in infancy; her parents; and two brothers, Carrol Brockmeyer and Lester Brockmeyer.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a great cook.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Erwin John Henry Lembke

Erwin John Henry Lembke, 100, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Elkader Care Center, of natural causes. He was the son of Charles and Minnie (Schroeder) Lembke, and was born icon April 20, 1904, in Clayton County, IA. He was baptized on June 5, 1904, by Pastor G. F. Braun of St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. On April 6, 1919, he was confirmed by Pastor Albert Daugs at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Erwin attended country school and Monona Community Schools through the eighth grade. On February 19, 1925, he was united in marriage to Mildred Sass at the Lutheran Parsonage in Monona by Pastor Albert Daugs. Two children were born icon to this union, Norbert and Valdean. Erwin and Mildred farmed on Pleasant Ridge for thirty-five years before retiring and purchasing a home in Monona in April of 1967. They enjoyed fishing, cards, dancing and visiting with family and friends. Erwin continued to live in his home in Monona following the death of his wife in August of 1981. For the past seven years he has needed additional care, and has resided at the Elkader Care Center. Survivors include his sons, Norbert Lembke and his wife Eileen, Monona and Valdean Lembke and his wife Lois, Iowa City; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred, a brother, Verni Lembke and a sister, Lorena Walker.

Wayne C. Voshell

Wayne C. Voshell, 61, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of the Wadena and Elgin area, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at his home, of a heart condition. He was born icon on May 21, 1943, in Wadena to Clarke and Lois (Mathys) Voshell. Wayne attended Wadena School and graduated from Valley High School. On July 2, 1966, he was united in marriage to Ruth Dunn at Manchester. One child was born icon to this union. They lived in the Wadena area, moving to Jonesboro, Arkansas fifteen years ago. Wayne was a farmer, enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Voshell of Jonesboro; a daughter, Gayle Voshell, Arlington, VA and his mother, Lois Voshell, Wadena. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarke Voshell.

Anna Mae Leas, 70, McGregor, died Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon following a long illness. She was born icon on January 9, 1934, in rural Monona to Anton and Hazel (Huff) Marovets. Anna Mae attended Vlazny country school and Froelich country school. She was united in marriage to Allen Leas on June 5, 1951, at the Methodist Church, Monona. Anna Mae farmed with Allen their entire married life. They lived on the home farm south of Watson for twelve years, moving to their current farm in 1964. Anna Mae worked at White Springs Supper Club, McGregor for sixteen years. She loved flowers, birds, fishing, miniature horses, gardening and landscaping, spending time with family and friends, and was every dogs best friend. Survivors include her husband, Allen, McGregor; two brothers, Ben (Evelyn) Marovets, McGregor, Anthony Marovets, Guttenberg; one sister, Margaret Koopmann, Peterson; nieces, nephews and friends. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Marovets and one sister, Rosemary Koopmann.

Charles Norris Loftsgard

Charles Norris Loftsgard, 70, of Elgin, Iowa, died Thursday, November 18, 2004, at his home following a brief illness. He was born icon on February 2, 1934 in rural Elgin to Gilbert and Bessie Larson Loftsgard. Survivors include his brothers, Bernard and Ronald Loftsgard of Elgin and a sister, Karol Helgerson of West Union. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa.

Helen Darlene Blockhus Lawrence, 75, of West Union, IA, died Monday evening, November 15, 2004, in her home, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born icon September 24, 1929, in West Union to Elmer and Emma (Weitenhagen) Blockhus. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union. She graduated from West Union High School, and attended Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. On January 3, 1971, she was united in marriage to Guy Lawrence at the Little Brown Church. She worked for Carpenter & Kraft Redi-Mix for many years as a bookkeeper. She taught Sunday school for thirty years. Helen loved her flowers and doing activities with her family. Survivors include her nieces, Judy (Don) Eberhart, West Union and Janet (Elton) Borsheim, Decorah and a nephew, Jim (Debra) Blockhus, Allison; grandnieces and nephews; great grandnieces and nephews and her companion of eleven years, her cat Short Stop. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Arthur and sister-in-law, Francis Blockhus.

Edna Minnie Louise Voelzke, 93, Monona, died Monday, November 15, 2004, at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, following a short illness. She was born icon in Monona Township, rural Monona, to Ferdinand and Anna (Doerring) Muller on July 14, 1911. Edna was baptized in the Evangelical Church in Goody Township. She graduated from Farmersburg High School in 1929. On September 11, 1935, she was united in marriage to Carlton Voelzke. Two children were born icon to this union. They lived on a farm near Froelich, a farm east of Monona, and then moved to the Monona farm in 1944. Survivors include one son, Audene Voelzke, Maquoketa; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Voelzke, Monona; one granddaughter, Angela (Bret Ammons) Voelzke, Monona; three great-grandchildren, Corey, D.J. and Emma, Monona; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1962, one son, Jason Voelzke in 1996, one grandson, Karlyn Voelzke in 1994 and one brother, John Muller.

Shirley Ann Hoisington, 60, Edgewood, died Friday, November 12, 2004, at The Skaggs Community Rehabilitation Center, Branson, MO, following a sudden illness. She was born icon November 8, 1944, in Guttenberg to Frank and Liz (Bolsinger) Billmeyer. Shirley attended Guttenberg Community School. She was united in marriage to Merlin Hoisington on May 25, 1963, in Edgewood. Two children were born icon to this union. Merlin and Shirley lived in Colesburg, Elk Creek, Wood Center, then retiring to Edgewood. Shirley worked at Ertl’s, Products in Guttenberg and did child care in her home. She enjoyed spending time with family, collecting Indian dolls, playing cards and dancing. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sister, Clyde Billmeyer, George Billmeyer and Edna Billmeyer; half-brothers and sisters, Annie Leick; Fern Herzog, Bertha White, Don Billmeyer and Ivan Billmeyer. Survivors include her husband, Merlin Hoisington, Edgewood; sons, James Hoisington, Edgewood, Cody Hoisington, Edgewood; brothers and sisters, Harold (Elizabeth) Billmeyer, Olympia, Wash, Letha “Midge” (John) Mihalakis, Dubuque, Evalena Ingles, Dubuque, Wilma Billmeyer, Dubuque, Alvin (Betty) Billmeyer, Colesburg, Richard (Cynthia) Billmeyer, Dubuque, Larry (Kathy) Billmeyer, Dubuque; a half brother, Clarence (Barbara) Horstman, Colesburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
