George F. Ehrmann, age 90, of Amana, Iowa, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, First Presbyterian Church, Marengo with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial: West Amana Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the charity of the donor’s choice or the First Presbyterian Church, Marengo.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; a daughter Debra of Marina, CA; a son Jeffrey (Barbara) of Bettendorf; two grandsons, James (Kelly) of Bellevue, WA, and Timothy of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Henrietta Schwarting and four brothers, Alfred, Walter, Roy and Richard.
George was born May 4, 1923 in West Amana, Iowa, the son of Fred and Ida Schoenfelder Ehrmann. He received his education in the Amana schools and graduated from Amana High School in 1941. George then attended night school, taking many management courses. He married Ruth L. Meyer on April 24, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
George served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army. He served in the field artillery forward observers group. He was awarded three bronze battle stars serving in the battle of the Bulge in the Bastone area where he was injured and received the Purple Heart. George and his four brothers all served in the armed forces during World War II.
Upon his return from service, George returned to work at Amana Refrigeration as production manager. He retired in 1989 as Manager of Quality Assurance.
George was an active 63 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Elks Club in Cedar Rapids, the American Legion, the VFW, the Amana Heritage Society and also served on the Amana Boy Scout Committee. He was the Director of the North Iowa County Red Cross for 18 years, which then merged with the Cedar Rapids Grand Woods Chapter. He tremendously enjoyed the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with his son Jeff as guardian.
George was an avid follower of sporting events. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Elmcrest Country Club. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and loved to take care of the yard and flowers around his home. He especially enjoyed visiting his children in Bettendorf and Monterey. During his 50 years of employment George touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed by all.

Rachel Hope Morton Denny, age 26, of Coggon, formerly of Marengo, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Central City. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 23, 2013, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Marion, IA, with Rev. Gregory Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. A memorial fund has been established for the medical care of her daughter Izabella.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Christopher Denny of Walker; her children, Isiah and Izabella; her father Douglas Morton (Nancy) of Brooking, SD; two sisters, Rebecca Klinge (Bradley) of Columbus, IN, and Melinda Flick (Seth) of Riverside, CA; two brothers, Jeffrey Steelman (Ida) of Belton, MO, and Aaron Morton of Ames; her paternal grandparents, Donald and Ruth Morton of Cedar Rapids; and maternal grandmother, Reva Winkle of St. James, MO; and ten nieces and nephews, Grace, Madalynn, Alyssa and Savannah Steelman, Olivia and Laina Klinge, and Noah, Micah, Elijah and Judah Flick.
She was preceded in death by her mother Pamela Morton in 2011 and her grandfather Roy Hance.
Rachel Hope Morton was born August 21, 1986 in Columbia, MO, the daughter of Douglas and Pamela Hance Morton. She attended the Iowa Valley schools in Marengo and graduated from the Kirkwood High School program in 2004. Rachel was employed with Channel Fusion in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Robert C. Davis, age 81, of Williamsburg, formerly of Marengo, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 20, 2013, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo, with Military Honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, May 19, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with a Scripture Service at 4 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Bob is survived by his wife Genevieve; his children, Mary Hadenfeldt (Ed) of Solon, Bill (Margaret) of Marengo, and Tom (Bridget) of Edina, MN; seven grandchildren, Adam Hadenfeldt (Jenny), Aaron Hadenfeldt, Augie Hadenfeldt, Tyler Davis, Sonya Swift (Bob), Anthony Davis, and Neil Davis; a great-grandson, Mark Hadenfeldt; four step-grandchildren, and four step- great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Larry Davis (Sharon) of Ladora. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Greta Rader.
Bob was born February 19, 1932 in Ladora, Iowa, the son of Thomas Davis and Mabel Hocker Davis. He attended the Lincoln Township School and graduated from Victor High School in 1950. Bob served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He married Genevieve McGarry on July 26, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Bob farmed, then owned and operated the Marengo Locker. He also owned and operated Davis Plumbing and Heating. Later he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, while continuing to keep his hand in farming his whole life.
Bob was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo, the Knights of Columbus, the Marengo American Legion Post #76, and the Williamsburg VFW #8797. He was past president of the Marengo Golf Club, and enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He also was a member of the Ladora Saddle Club and a volunteer firefighter. Bob liked to play cards, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He and Gen enjoyed traveling to all fifty states and 11 countries and were snowbirds in Arizona and Texas for 18 years.

Beatrice Hollopeter, age 84, formerly of Ladora, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Brooklyn Community Estate, Brooklyn, Iowa. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Ohio Cemetery, Ladora. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, May 20, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Beatrice is survived by her children, Susan Johnson (Jim) of Ladora, Patsy Imhoff (Jerry) of Marengo and Larry Hollopeter of Ladora; four grandchildren, Eric Johnson of Tiffin, Brandy Enochson (Troy) of Marengo, Matt Imhoff of Marengo and Cindy Johnson of Changzhou, China; two great-grandchildren Beau Enochson of Ames, and Brice Enochson of Marengo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean in 2012 and a brother Charles “Chuck” Van Blaricom.
Beatrice Van Blaricom was born October 7, 1928 in rural Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Jessie and Mabel Haman Van Blaricom. She graduated from Ladora High School with the Class of 1947. She married Forrest Dean “Bud” Hollopeter on September 12, 1952 at the Zion Reformed Church in Millersburg. The couple farmed in the Ladora area for many years. Beatrice was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She also was employed over the years at Wilson Meat Packing in the office, the University of Iowa Hospital, and also Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana. Beatrice was a member of the Ohio Methodist Church in Ladora.

Carroll L. Schafbuch, age 79 of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Brooklyn Community Estate, Brooklyn, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 20, 2013, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Memorials may be contributed to Grace United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Hospice Compassus.
Carroll is survived by his wife Elaine, his three sons, Randy Lee (Vicki) of Gilbert, AZ, Rodney Carroll (Lori) and Ricky Allen (Daneen) all of Brooklyn; six grandchildren, Jennifer Callard (Andy) of Gilbert, AZ, Austin Schafbuch of Tempe, AZ, Lexi Schafbuch, Dylan Schafbuch, Alexis Lynd Schafbuch, and Logan Schafbuch all of Brooklyn, and a great-grandchild, Huxley Callard of Gilbert, AZ. Also surviving are two brothers, Gary (Joan) and Wayne (Terrie), all of Victor, IA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Carroll Lee Schafbuch was born August 5, 1933 on a farm near Deep River, Iowa, the son of Harlan Jacob Schafbuch and Eileen Winnifred Goodman Schafbuch. He graduated from Victor High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 – 1956, stationed in Korea. Carroll married Elaine Arlene Blaess on August 31, 1958 at the Central Christian Church, in Boone, Iowa. The couple farmed in Iowa County for a time, and then purchased their first farm located west of Brooklyn in 1966. His lifelong passion was farming, but he also enjoyed dancing and having a good time with his friends. Sunday evening dances were a favorite date night for Carroll and Elaine. His legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren. Carroll was a member of the Farm Bureau, Grace United Methodist Church, and the Malcom American Legion Post 733.

Lance D. Stormm, age 39 of Muscatine, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Lance is survived by his mother Karen Bahr and husband Ricky of Marengo, and two daughters, Keyairen and Gabriella. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother Gary, grandparents, Kenneth and Twyla Snyder, and Rose Martin, and great-grandparents, Marjorie Jackson, and Albert and Alma Snyder.
Lance D. Stormm was born February 7, 1974 in Corydon, Iowa, the son of Gary Martin and Karen Snyder Martin. He graduated from Solon High School in 1993 and was employed as a technician with the ADM railcar division.

Wilma L. Moore, age 92 of Marengo, formerly of Estherville, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, Iowa. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 29, 2013, First United Methodist Church, Marengo, with Rev. Matt German officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, June 28, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry A. Markley (Jennifer) of Spencer, and James M. Markley of Perry; two daughters, Joan Heldt (Harry) of Homestead, and Joyce Harris (Bob) of Waynesville, MO; eight grandchildren, Michael Heldt of Boulder, CO, Marsha Heldt of Coralville, Monica Kersten of Columbus, IN, Jerry Markley, Jr. of Ruthven, Wayne Markley of Spencer, Scott Larson of Estherville, Bobbie Harris of Waynesville, MO and Tonnia Markley of Des Moines; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Hugh M. Markley and Claude A. Moore, two brothers, William and Carl Hiveley; and five sisters Annie Hiveley, Agnes Bunnell, Marie Clark, Leona Schubert, and Jenny Hanson.
Wilma Louise Hiveley was born November 11, 1920 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of William and Goldie Thompson Hiveley. She received her education thru the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Hugh Markley in 1940. He passed away, and she then married Claude Moore. Wilma was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Wilma enjoyed playing cards, going bowling and baking. She especially enjoyed caring for her children and her home.

Russell E. Blomme, age 69 of Marengo, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 28, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Mercy Hospice Chaplain Joe Kane officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hartwick Cemetery, Hartwick, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by his wife Carol; a son Jon Blomme (Vicki) of Victor; a daughter Stefani Vaverka (Jon) of Brooklyn; and a grandchild, Camiel Blomme. Also surviving are a brother, Vernon (Mary Ellen) of Belle Plaine, and a sister Beverly Maschmann of Marengo, and special friends, Donna Poessel and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Colton Blomme, three brothers Richard, Virgil, and Howard, and a brother-in-law Russell Maschmann.
Russell Emiel Blomme was born July 27, 1943 in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Emiel and Marie Steyaert Blomme. He graduated from Victor High School in 1961. Russell served his country as a member of the Army Reserves. He married Susan Duffus, and two children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. He married Carol Lea Miller on October 11, 1986 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Russell was employed over the years at Maschmann Gulf Gas Station in Victor, the Fetzer Gas Station, which he later purchased and renamed Russ’ DX. Russell then went to work at Dusty’s Tire in Coralville, and lastly was employed by the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Russell was a member of the Victor American Legion Post #54. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time.
