Doris H. Knutson, age 77 of Marengo, Iowa, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at Rose Haven Nursing Home. Memorial Services: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2014, First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Matt German officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday after 9:00 A.M. until service time, at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Knutson (Jill Jaunty) of Chattanooga, TN, and Keith Knutson (Angela) of Reidsville, NC; two grandchildren, Kristina Nice (Nick) of Omaha, NE, and Nicholas Knutson of Reidsville; a brother John Moore (Victoria) of Marengo; a niece Tiffany Dale; and a nephew Patrick Dale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Susanna Moore.
Doris Harriet Mardel Moore was born September 1, 1937 in Depew, Iowa, , the daughter of Henry Lewis and Charlotte Hohensee Moore. She attended the independence #9 School in Depew until 1955. She attended Augustana Academy in Canton, SD, and then Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. Doris worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for many years in the Medical Records Department. She retired from there in 1994. Following retirement, she worked with REA in Conroy for a short time.
Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marengo, and enjoyed her work with the Henry Moore Barn Museum in South Amana.
Doris was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Lucille E. Brown, age 80 of Ladora, Iowa, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with George Grothman officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Cemetery, Ladora, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, September 15, 2014 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Lucille is survived by her husband Duane; two sons, Steven and Duane, Jr. both of Ladora; and a daughter Brenda Lee Peters and husband Dean of Bowling Green, VA. Also surviving are her brother Robert Sebetka (Joann) of Ely, and a sister Marie Vanous of Independence, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter Maureen Brown on September 9, 2012.
Lucille Evelyn was born August 26, 1934 in rural Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of George Sebetka and Mary Marousek Sebetka. She graduated from Alburnett High School in 1952 and married Duane Grant Brown on December 15, 1955 in Cedar Rapids. Besides being a wife and mother, Lucille assisted her family on the farm. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and canning, and taking care of the chickens. She was especially fond of her cats.

Evelyn C. Griffin, age 87 of Marion, formerly of Williamsburg, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at The Villages Assisted Living in Marion. Private Graveside Services will be held Monday, September 15, 2014, with Rev. Sonda Kirsteatter officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 P.M. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Larry and wife Debbie of Cedar Rapids, and a grandson that she adored, Scott of Iowa City. Also surviving are her siblings, Murray Evans and wife Lynn of Williamsburg, Carl Evans of Solon, Ruth Baker of Iowa City, and Gladys Beasley of Marengo, a sister-in-law Bonnie Evans of Rock Island, a brother-in-law, Larry Raasch and wife Linda of Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene in 2009, a sister, Lucille Raasch and a brother Ed Evans.
Evelyn Clara Evans was born July 19, 1927 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Clara Goss Evans. She attended the Iowa county schools and married Gene Franklin Griffin on November 1, 1952 in Fairfield, Iowa. Evelyn worked at several businesses in the Williamsburg area, lastly at Amana Refrigeration for over 20 years. Following her retirement, Evelyn and Gene enjoyed winters in Florida. In later years, Evelyn enjoyed watching the Cubs (who she always thought the umpires were against), playing cards and going to the casino.
She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cindy Hanawalt for her compassionate care, and Diana and the staff at the Villages Assisted Living Facility for making Mom’s final years so comfortable and enjoyable.

Agnes E. Stone, age 91 of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Saturday evening, September 6, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
Agnes Elizabeth Sherbon Stone, daughter of James Clinton and Margaret Elizabeth Wintringer Sherbon, was born June 18, 1923, near Walker, Iowa. She graduated from the Walker Public School in 1941.
Her interest in news writing began with the high school paper, continued to the hometown paper and during WWII to a hometown newsletter to area servicemen and women, and features in the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Her newswriting interest took her to the Marion Sentinel. There she met Donald Stone. They were married August 9, 1947, and in 1954 they moved to Brooklyn, IA, where they were both employed by the Brooklyn Chronicle and the Brooklyn Paper. Her columns, “embers” and “a stone’s throw, " were of local interest. In addition, she served on the committees to research and write the history of Brooklyn and the history of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, the Patrician Club, the B.B.B., and a neighborhood group. She served on the Brooklyn Library Board for several years and served on the board for the Brooklyn Community Fund Drive. She enjoyed doing for others, as well as tending to her flowers, both indoors and out.
Agnes is survived by her children, Jamie (Ron) Ginkens of Chariton, IA; Donn (Jane) of Boone, IA; Susan (Glenn) Knox of Oskaloosa, IA; Diane (Alan) Marshall of Center Point, IA; Kristine (Craig) Robinson of Gilman, IA; Pat Howard of Urbandale, IA; Traci Carney of Huxley, IA; and Anthony (Barbara) of Lansing, MI; 25 grandchildren: Genni Ginkens Heffron, Carrie Knox VanMersbergen, Jason Marshall, Aaron Ginkens, Rachel Knox Buchanan, Leslie Marshall Althoff, Robert Knox, Ryann Ginkens, Amanda Stone Swart, Tiffany Squiers Proctor, Amy Marshall, Melissa Stone Stewart, Casie Squiers Smith, Michelle Stone Borrison, Mallory Marshall, Matthew Stone, Austin Howard, Walker Howard, Jack Carney, Parker Howard, Michael Marshall, Anthony Stone, Maggi Carney, Lesli Carney, and Gabriella Stone; 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, her infant son Timothy, her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and 13 step-brothers and sisters.

Marie E. Staman, aged 90, of Amana, Iowa, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Colonial Manor in Amana. She died following a short illness from a recent fall suffered in her home. Visitation with the family present will be 4:30 to 7:30 P.M. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo, IA. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the family receiving friends after 1:00 P.M. until service time. Private burial services will be held at the Amana Cemetery. Memorials in Marie’s name can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids designated for children’s ministry or to the Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation designated to eldercare. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
Marie Emilie was born December 9, 1923 in the village of Amana, the daughter of Peter G. and Louise Herman Zimmermann. Her birthplace was in the family home which is now the location of the Ronneburg Restaurant in Amana. Her early life was spent in the final years of the Communal time in Amana and the years immediately thereafter. She graduated from Amana High School in 1941. She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, as well as Central College in Pella and Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls for summer terms. Marie served as an elementary and middle school teacher in the Amana Schools for 12 years and a substitute teacher for more than 20 years. She then took time to be at home with her family. Later in life she enjoyed working in retail sales for the Kitchen Sink in Amana and especially enjoyed the annual Amana Easter Egg coloring event.
Marie participated in a two month long study trip to Europe in 1954 visiting many countries as well as the Ronneburg Castle where her ancestors resided prior to coming to America. Marie and Gilbert revisited many of these sites with a trip to Europe in 1987 and a special visit with longtime friends the Pfeiffer family of Wiesbaden, Germany. She enjoyed family trips to Door County, Wisconsin for more than 30 years and looked so forward to the annual harvest of fresh cherries. She also enjoyed 20 years in retirement of wintertime getaways to Ft. Myers, Florida.
Marie was active in many parts of the Amana community serving as a founding leader of the Girls Scouts and Campfire programs. She also was active as a leader in Y-Teens and Cub Scouts. Marie was an almost 60 year member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she served on several committees and was active in the Presbyterian Mariners and Presbyterian Women’s Chapel Society. She was a founding member of the Amana Heritage Society, working many hours to help curate portions of the original opening of the Museum of Amana History. She was also a member of the Amana Artist Guild, PEO Chapter GM, and served 25 years on the Colonial Manor Care Review patient advocate committee. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, making Amana quilts, gardening, and feeding the birds.
Marie is survived by her husband Gilbert, whom she married at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 18, 1956, her son Paul and daughter-in-law Margaret of High Amana, and her granddaughter Rachel Staman of Baltimore, Maryland and her fiancé, Alan Mejibovsky. Oma was so proud of her granddaughter Rachel who also entered the teaching profession. Also surviving are her special cousin and husband, Elsie and Bill Oehler of Amana and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter G. and Louise Herman Zimmermann and her sister and brother. Marie will be deeply missed by her family.
A special thank you to Pastor Herb Isenberg, Pastor Heather Hayes, and Deb Sedlacek, Faith Community Nurse of First Presbyterian Church, for their care of Marie and her family. Also the family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all staff and medical providers at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, Lakeview Village, Colonial Manor, and Essence of Life Hospice for their care of Marie over these past weeks.

Louise Margaret Stambaugh, age 95 of Amana, formerly of Homestead, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital/Unity Point in Cedar Rapids, IA. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 10, 2015, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation; 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, January 9, 2015, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Louise is survived by her sons, George (Trudie) Stambaugh of Fort Worth, TX, and William (Faye) Stambaugh of Northwood, IA; seven grandchildren, Roy (Sue) Zuber of Mesa, AZ, Vicki (Rich) Cobb of Marengo, Connie (Jeff) Johnson of Roanoke, TX, Janelle Stambaugh of Fort Worth, Kevin (Amy) Stambaugh of Northwood, Christopher (Audra) Stambaugh of St. Charles, MN, and Kenneth (Kara) Stambaugh of Northwood; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Bertha Pearson of Marion, Mary (Gerald) Schupanitz of Cedar Rapids, and Joyce Reihmann of Middle Amana; and a sister-in-law Nancy Klaner of Palo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Warren in 1995, a daughter Ruth Zuber, and three brothers, James Klaner, Lavern Klaner, and Leonard who died in infancy; a son-in-law Mervin Zuber, and brothers-in-law Vernon Reihmann, and Wayne Pearson.
Louise Margaret Klaner was born February 5, 1919 in rural Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Hazel Brink Klaner. She received her education in the Linn County and Cedar Rapids schools. Louise and Warren Charles Stambaugh were united in marriage on May 13, 1939 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion, Iowa. She worked as an assembly person with Amana Refrigeration for 30 years, retiring in February of 1981.
Louise enjoyed gardening, and her flower gardens. She liked making handmade crafts and various knitted items to give as gifts. Louise walked many miles at the Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids as a member of the Mall Walkers. But most of all, she loved her family, and spending time with the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo.

George Patrick Cadden, age 45 of Brooklyn, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral Mass: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 3, 2015, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial will be in the Hayes Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 8 P.M. Friday, January 2, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
George is survived by his wife, Judy; his sons, Carson Patrick, and Benjamin George, both at home; his mother Margaret Cadden Brown of Pattonsburg, MO; a brother, Kenny (Diane) Cadden of Brooklyn; sisters, Mary Oliver (Jim Murphy) of Stewartsville, MO and Karen Timm of Williamsburg; nieces, Jennifer (Cory) Richmond, Stephanie (Dylan McCrabb) Timm, Michelle Timm, Tanja Rasmussen, Veronica McMurtry, Emily Cadden and Kaitlyn Cadden; nephews, James Cadden, Kyle Cadden, Eric Cadden, Brian Cadden; a great-nephew Dempsey Richmond; and special family friends, the Findlays.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Cadden, and step-father Marvin Brown.
George Patrick Cadden was born February 25, 1969 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Margaret Fuerst Cadden. He graduated from BGM High School in 1987 and married Judy Thomae in St. Lucia on April 12, 2002.
George was a farmer and milked cows. He was proud to grow up and live on the family farm his entire life. One of his greatest joys was teaching his sons about raising crops and cattle. He was happiest when they were all together in the tractor tending the land. George received a 24 year award from Swiss Valley Farms for quality milk production. He was a member of the Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed yearly family trips to Duluth to watch the ships come in, and driving through Wisconsin looking at dairy farms and implement dealers. He liked attending the Iowa State Fair along with his nieces, and going to machinery shows. He enjoyed ice cream, movies and airplanes. He loved to take his boys sledding. In his earlier days he enjoyed attending rock concerts. But above all, George loved his wife, boys and extended family most.

Carol Joie Beebe, age 58, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2014, Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford, with Rev. Mike Townsley officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carol Joie Beebe was born December 24, 1956 in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the daughter of Gordon and Anna Smoley Beebe. She graduated from Benton Community High School in 1975, and attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. She had been employed with Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids, the Lutheran Home in Vinton, and also in home health care.
Carol enjoyed collecting candles, angels, and other knick-knacks. She loved to bake and cook, and spend time outdoors. She was a loving person, and dearly cared for her family and those she cared for in her professional life. Her family was foremost in her thoughts, and she loved spending time with them whenever she was able.
Carol is survived by her son James Behnke (Alysia Gilbert) of Marion; two daughters, Jennifer Tucker (Carldray) of Marion, and Stephanie Land (Craig) of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; her siblings, Stuart Beebe (Linda) of Kansas City, MO, Marcus Beebe (Lynn) of Cedar Rapids, and Leita Privett (James) of Bells, TN; a daughter-in-law, Samantha Behnke of Marion, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Rosella Pettit, and a brother-in-law, Ivan Pettit.
