Leo Mulford
Leo John Mulford, 89, of Aurora, died Thursday morning, Nov. 4, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Memorial services were held Nov. 7 at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Winthrop. Inurnment of Leo and Burnita was held in Fremont Township Cemetery, Winthrop.
He is survived by four children, Bruce (Rita) Mulford, Solon, Barbara Mulford, Nantucket, Mass., Rosa Lea (Joe) Reese, Fort Worth, Texas, and Lauraine Harding, Ely; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rozella Morgan, Golden Valley, Minn., and Neva Mae Arnold, Independence; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Burnita in 2005; a sister; Mary Stiles; and two brothers, Dean and Dale Mulford.
Leo was born June 7, 1921, in Westgate, Iowa, the son of Frank and Helen (Cook) Mulford. He graduated from the Rowley High School with the class of 1938. On Sept. 9, 1945, he was married to Burnita Schweitzer at the Methodist Church in Independence. Leo served with the U.S. Marine Corps 12th Defense Battalion as an anti-aircraft gunner of 38 months in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Leo and Burnita started farming the family farm in 1945, living there 65 years. He also served as an ASC committee member for 20 years. Leo was a member of the Aurora American Legion Post 435. He enjoyed his family, farming, fishing and playing.

Marjorie Nading
Marjorie Marie Nading, 78, of Mederville, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at her home. Funeral services were held Nov. 18 at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, with Pastor Andrea Mericle officiating. Burial was at Mederville Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Nading of Mederville; two sons, Ricky Gentz of Garnavillo, and Harley Gentz and friend Julie Ostrander of Wadena; three grandchildren, Chad Gentz of Mederville, Matthew Gentz of Guttenberg, and Ashley Gentz of Wadena; five siblings, Marilyn (Luther) Pugh of Elgin, Gene (Janice) West of Strawberry Point, Viola (Stanley) Erickson of Elkader, Pearl Dunkel of St. Olaf, and Orville West Jr. of North Liberty; and a sister-in-law, Arlene West of Farmersburg.

Wendell Whitford
Wendell Whitford, 67 of North Liberty, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Memorial services were held Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, with the Reverend Samuel Massey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Wendell's memory to First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, Iowa City Chamber Singers, or the Friends of the Boundary Waters. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web at www.gayandciha.com.
Floyd Wendell Whitford Jr. was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Ft. Bragg, NC, to Floyd Wendell Whitford Sr. and Jewel (Gragg) Whitford. The family moved to West Union, Iowa, where he was raised and completed high school. He went on to graduate from Iowa State University in Ames with a teaching degree. On Dec. 28, 1968, Wendell was united in marriage to Judy McConnell in Osceola, Iowa. The couple raised their family in Cedar Rapids where Wendell was an Industrial Arts Instructor at Franklin Junior High School for many years, until accepting a similar position at Moorhead High School in Minnesota. While living in Minnesota, Wendell and Judy owned Isleview Resort on South Lida Lake. After teaching for 36 years, he retired in 2002. At that time he and Judy returned to Eastern Iowa to join his son in rebuilding their house. Wendell was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and the Iowa City Chamber Singers. He was an avid outdoorsman and craftsman who traveled to the boundary waters with family and friends over 20 times, sharing his enthusiasm for life's details at every turn.
His family includes his wife, Judy; son Brien and his wife, Jennifer, their children, Savannah, Brookelyn, Kennedey and Charleigh; daughter Cara Whitford and her husband, Mason Gordon and their children, Olivia and Eliza; Wendell's siblings, Jo Griffith, Clark Whitford (Ebby), and Mary Wickstrom (Russell); step-sister Wanda Whitford (Don); step-brothers, Stan Shaffer (Sharon) Dennis Shaffer (Anita) and Jon Shaffer (Vera).
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Clara Whitford.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Wendell's family and his services.

Rae Young
Rae Young, 81, of Panora, formerly of Solon, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Guthrie County Hospital. Services were held Nov. 20 at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Richard Collins
Richard A. Collins, 73, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon. Burial was in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery, with military rites.
Surviving Richard is his daughter, Sherian Collins and friend Vic Rahn of Solon; two grandsons, Steven and Joseph Steggall; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Art Collins of West Branch, and Bob (Cora) Collins of Mount Vernon; a nephew; and many nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years; a brother, John and wife Velma; a sister, Wanda Kaplan and husband Kenneth; three half sisters, Hazel Hoffman, Mildred Thompson and Mable Whitman, a sister-in-law, Kathleen Collins; and a great-granddaughter, Missy Stice.
Richard was born on the family farm west of Mount Vernon on March 23, 1937, the son of Arthur and Minnie (Thompson) Collins. He joined the Air Force in 1954. He met Gloria Hollingsworth while serving his country and married her Oct. 21, 1955, in Marietta, Ga. After his tour of duty, the couple moved back to Mount Vernon in 1959. Richard worked for Sanitary Dairy in Cedar Rapids for 29 years before retiring. Richard loved fishing, hunting, camping, horses, playing pool and working on small engines. He especially enjoyed afternoon coffee with the gang at Hardees.
A memorial fund in Richard's honor has been established.

Merlin Huff
Merlin Cecil Huff, 81, of Winchester, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at his home. A memorial service was conducted Nov. 9 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Va. Interment will be private.
Mr. Huff was born in 1929 in New Columbia, Pa., the son of the late Benjamin and Ethel Huff. He was vice president of engineering for Lear/Automotive Industries until his retirement in 1992. Also, he served in the U.S. Army. He married Carol Roose on Nov. 28, 1964, in Michigan.
Surviving with his wife are five daughters, Donna Young and her husband, Rod, of North Liberty, Jan Ricketts and her husband, Carlton of Winchester, Va., Kim Powers and her husband, Mike of Dover, Pa., Mary Nielsen and her husband, Brent of Winchester, Va., and Jen Scannell and her husband, Dan of Burlington, Mass.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his faithful companions, his dog, Chrissy, and cat, E.T.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Pauline Hastings; and two brothers, Harold Huff and William Huff.

Keith Keim
Keith K. Keim, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at his home. Services were held Nov. 10 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William Harnish officiated. Entombment was at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Joel (Heather) of Marengo and Kerry of Solon; a daughter, Cindy (Kevin) Lawler of Carroll; two stepchildren, Deborah (Michael) Milot of Longmont, Colo., and Jonathan (Sharon) Enabnit of Pueblo West, Colo.; two sisters, Marian (Herb) Davis of Oregon, Ill., and Joyce (Gerald) Strength of Mississippi; and his significant other, Sue Thompson of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by grandchildren MaKayla, MaKenna, Zane, Zander and Zayden Keim; three step grandchildren, James (Eileen) Egger, Julian (Neal) Horan and Nicole D'Alessandro; and two step great-grandchildren, Ovivia and Owen.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick; and stepson, Jerome Iowa.
Keith was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Chicago, the son of George and Zella (McGinty) Keim. He married Beverly J. Weber on Nov. 22, 1975, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2004. Keith was owner and operator of Kennedy Paint Co. for over 32 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Elk Lodge 251. Keith was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, watching wrestling and especially the time he shared with his beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established in Keith's name.

Joan Enochson
Funeral service was held Nov. 4 at the Lutheran Church, Conroy. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Enochson of North Liberty, Brian Enochson of Point Pleasant, and J.J., and Julie Herrick of Algonquin, Ill.
Memorials are for the Lutheran Interparish School.

Wayne Gregory
Wayne T. Gregory, 75, of Camanche, former owner of Reliable Service, Inc., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at his home after a short courageous battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial was in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Serving as pallbearers were Todd Card, Eddie Doyle, Jack Bullard, Matthew Kinkaid, Wayne Lueders and Stan Wilden.
Wayne Thomas Gregory was born Dec. 20, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Helen (Kunz) Gregory. He was a 1952 graduate of Clinton High School. Wayne repaired appliances in the Clinton area for over 50 years. He owned and operated Reliable Service, Inc., for 40 years until his retirement in 2004. Wayne married Jane E. Bullard on May 4, 1957. He later married Marcia Hamilton Volrath on June 1, 1985.
Wayne will be remembered for his honesty, generosity, integrity and hard work. He was always ready to help someone in need and he could fix or build anything. He enjoyed many fun times at his cabin at Storm Haven on the Mississippi River. He loved to garden and camp, and always had a project. His grandchildren were very important to him. After retirement he lived for his winters in Yuma, Ariz., and the many friends he made there. He was a member of the VFW, Clinton Moose Lodge, First Baptist Church in Camanche and Sundance RV Club in Yuma, Ariz. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.
Wayne is survived by two daughters, Winnie (Randy) Hofsommer of Solon and Mari (James) Mathiesen of Clinton; six grandchildren, Greg and Nick Hofsommer, Emily (Kendall) Dykstra, Matthew (Jessica) Kinkaid, Aimee (John) Hannan and Robert (Erica) Mathiesen; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joy (Marion) Tilton of Hoodsport, Wash., Carol (John) Langrehr of Davenport and Elaine (Glenn) Trout of Bettendorf, one brother, Jay (DeReva) Gregory of Killeen, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and one infant brother.
A memorial fund has been established in Wayne's memory.
