Doris Sanders
Doris Marie Sanders, 75, a resident of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010.
Doris was born Sept. 11, 1935, near Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy and Eugene McCammon. Doris' parents owned a hardware store in Urbana for a number of years before moving to Maquoketa. Doris attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids after graduating from high school.
Doris served many years as a multi-talented executive secretary at employers including Metropolitan Supply Company, Rockwell International, The Kansas City Star and Allied Signal.
Doris had many interests including spending time with family and friends, serving her church as a deacon, traveling to England and other European countries, knitting hundreds of baby caps, feeding stray cats and deer, creative writing and cooking.
Doris was a beautiful and vivacious lady who enchanted everyone with her delightful personality, including strangers. She was loved much and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Sanders, Doris is survived by her son, Bradford D. Harris of North Liberty; a daughter, Sabra A. and son-in-law Steve Sandy of Kansas City, Mo.; and a sister, Patricia Brown of Onawa, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at Barry Christian Church, 1500 NW Barry Rd., Kansas City, MO 64155.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Barry Christian Church.

Marjorie Anciaux
Marjorie "Marge" Ellen Anciaux, 82, of Iowa City, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Atrium Village. Funeral Services for Marjorie were held Nov. 23 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Marge was born on a farm in rural Johnson County on Oct. 12, 1928, the daughter of George and Bessie (Thomas) Aubrecht. On Nov. 27, 1946, Marge married Cecil "Rusty" Anciaux in Iowa City.
Marge enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family, friends and beloved cat, Ebby.
Marge is survived by three children, Connie Williams of Middletown, Jeff Anciaux and Becky (Roy) Zubrod, all of Iowa City; four sisters, Kathryn Hebl of Hills, Donna (Leo) Zeithamel of North Liberty, Beverly (Rashid) Al-Rashid of Omaha and Marlene Boerjan of Iowa City; her brother, Merrill "Bubby" (Betty) Aubrecht of Coralville; five grandchildren, Channon (Patrick) Galligan of Wausaw, Wis., Steven Patrie of Dallas, Texas, Jake Zubrod of Ames, Rachelle Williams of Ankeny, and Sarah (Tomas) Zurita of Danville; and four great-grandchildren, Ayden, Jayden Gabriel and Myah.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987; and five siblings, Harold and Maynard Aubrecht, Lucille Kucera, Letha Musser and Lillian Allen.

June Cullen
June Cullen, 85, a resident of The Meth-Wick Community, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial was at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Spaith and husband Donald of Madison, Wis., Vicki Clendenen and husband Dave of Cedar Rapids, Lynn Swehla and husband Gaylon of Solon, and Robin Ryan and husband Dana of Anamosa; grandchildren, Donnie Spaith and wife Brooke of Madison, Wis., Rick Clendenen and wife Melanie of Cedar Rapids, Tiffany Stull and husband Jeff of Lisbon, Kelli Swehla of Hiawatha, Ashley Swehla and significant other Andy Sweeney of Hiawatha, Cory Okken and wife Jill of Atkins, Dusty Okken of Cedar Rapids, and Carly Okken and fiance Pete Taylor of Cedar Rapids; and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Trey, Cody, Shannon, Zack, Austin, Caden and Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and her siblings, Paul Collett, Edyth McCall and Lee Shoemaker.
Mary June Cullen was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Ray and Jennie (Potts) Collett. During World War II she worked in San Francisco, Calif., as a ship welder to support the war effort. She met Richard R. Cullen who was in the Navy and they were later married on May 7, 1948, in Hurnando, Miss. She spent her time as a Navy wife and caring for her family. She was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball, as well as a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and time spent with family. She especially enjoyed time she was able to spend with her daughters, whom she called her best friends. She will be forever remembered for her humor and love.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Dean Smothers
Dean Smothers, 67, of Monticello, died Friday evening, Nov. 19, 2010, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. The Rev. Bob Wessels officiated.

Surviving are his wife, Terry; and three children, Andy of North Liberty, Troy of Chicago, and Michelle (David Omar) of Mount Vernon.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Westfall.
Marvin Dean Smothers was born April 5, 1943, at North English, Iowa. He was the son of Marvin W. and Sadie (Fitzwater) Smothers. He received his early education in the North and South English Schools. Dean graduated from North English High School with the class of 1961. Dean enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Army Reserve as well. He was employed as parts manager at Strohman's Inc. in North English. Dean married Terry Nelson on Aug. 29, 1970, in Mount Vernon. The couple lived in Kirksville, Mo., and Austin, Minn., where Dean was the parts manager at the John Deere dealerships. In July 1973, the couple purchased the Vanourny John Deere dealership in Monticello. In 1997, they added the Cigrand Bros. John Deere dealership in Cascade. They retired in October 2006, following 33 years in business.
Dean had been a board member of the Iowa Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association. He had also been active in Cub and Boy Scouts, the Monticello Chamber of Commerce, and the Fourth of July Celebration along with various school organizations. Dean was an active member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and served on the church council.

Tyler Fetters
Tyler J. Fetters, 19, of North Liberty, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, from injuries received in a car accident.
Funeral services were held Sept. 21, at the West Branch United Methodist Church, with burial following at the West Branch Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.

Tyler Joe Fetters was born Sept. 6, 1992, in Iowa City, the son of Darren S. and Tari H. (Loring) Fetters.
He attended Iowa City Schools, Grant Wood Elementary, South East Junior High, and graduated from City High School with the Class of 2010.
During high school and following graduation Tyler worked for Pearson, and most recently has been working for Steak and Shake in Coralville.
Tyler enjoyed his life, he loved driving his car, hanging with his friends, playing video games, card games and challenging his dad and others in disc golfing.
His family includes his father and stepmother, Darren and Theresa Fetters of North Liberty; stepfather, Rik Hansen of Iowa City; siblings Kyle Fetters (Nicole Chalupa) of Solon, Brianna (Nick) Pledge of North Liberty, Katherine Haddock of North Liberty, and Matthew Haddock of Wisconsin; niece, Averi, and nephew, Aiden; grandparents William Fetters of Iowa City, Ruth Parson of North Liberty, Virginia Gruwell of Plymouth, Ind., and Emy and Joe Weldon of Iowa City; great-grandmother Mildred Blankenship of Keokuk; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Tari Hansen; grandmother Beatrice Fetters; and grandfather Eugene Gruwell.

Dorothy Foraker
Dorothy Lacina Foraker, 95, passed away in North Liberty at the home of her granddaughter, Tracy Lacina, and her husband, Steve Riggan, on Sept. 20, 2011. A celebration of Dorothy's life was held Sept. 23 at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.
Dorothy Mae Krall was born in rural Johnson County on March 27, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Mae Krall, the second of seven children. She was joined in marriage to William C. Lacina on June 26, 1934, in Iowa City. Dorothy and Bill raised three children together: Janice, David William and Mary Jean. Her beloved husband, Bill, passed away in 1963.
Dorothy worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for many years before reacquainting herself with Alvin Foraker whom she dated as a young girl. They were united in marriage in 1976. Al passed away in 1984.
Dorothy's life was defined by her love for her family. She was always a port in a storm for anyone who needed sanctuary. If you stayed in Dorothy's home, you were safe and protected. She survived many adversities throughout her life and amazed all who knew her with her resilience. She was very close to her brothers and sisters and their spouses. They had more fun together than most siblings, enjoying euchre parties, picnics and dance parties. The matriarch of the family, she was known for her ferocity as well as her great capacity to love. No family member escaped the legendary "Dorothy Eyebrows" If they touched- you were in trouble- get out with your life.
She lived a long, challenging and rich life and she will be so greatly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her son, David W. (Dianne) Lacina of Tiffin; daughter, Mary Jean Gearhart of Iowa City; stepdaughter, Pat (Jerry) Cooper of Iowa City; grandchildren, David John (Penny) Lacina of Oxford, Michael (Jennifer) McComas of Minneapolis, Tracy (Steve Riggan) Lacina of North Liberty, Lane (Kim Hawker) Lacina of Oxford, Kristin Gearhart of Denver, Colo., Lindsey Gearhart of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Shaina C. Lacina of Coralville; step-grandchild, Micah T. Myers of Seattle; great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Seckel, Joe (Katie) Burns, Lydia McComas, Zach McComas, Shelby Lacina, Malcolm McComas, Mila Hillman and Caleb Lacina; step-great-grandchildren, Zach Riggan and Seth Riggan; one great-great-granddaughter, Aydin Seckel; sister, Marian Knowling; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill Lacina and Alvin Foraker; daughter, Janice McComas; siblings, Donald, Richard, Ralph and Joseph Krall; sister, Bernice Gough; and grandson, Gavin McComas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Iowa City Hospice or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
