Peter J. Coughlin Jr.
May 3, 1927 - April 11, 2013

Peter J. Coughlin Jr., 85, of Peru, died peacefully, surrounded by family, following a long illness, Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2013 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle where he was a resident for 4 ½ years.

A liturgical prayer service will be held at 8:00 PM, Monday, April 15, 2013 at Mueller Funeral Home in Peru with Rev. Paul Carlson, Parochial Vicar of the LaSalle Catholic Parishes officiating. Private burial with full military rites conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Spring Valley at a later date. Visitation will be 4-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Coughlin was born on May 3, 1927 in LaSalle to Peter and Elizabeth (Krewer) Coughlin. He married Lorraine Keller on April 15, 1953 in Streator, IL.

Mr. Coughlin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He worked at Carus Chemical Corporation as a production supervisor for 37 years.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth (Clare) Coughlin of Rockford; one sister, Ruth (Eldon) Golden of Ottawa; four grandsons, Eric, Peter, Kevin and Nathan Zack and their families, including six great-grandchildren; and his son-in-law, Kerry Zack.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine on May 14, 2010, his daughter, Phyllis Zack and his sister, Helen.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Pamela Ogburn
September 13, 1946 - April 7, 2013

Pamela Ogburn, 66, of Ottawa, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at OSF St. Fancis Medical Center in Peoria. Arrangements are through Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Pamela was born on September 13, 1946 at Bolling Air Force Base, in Washington D.C. to Ralph and Eleanor (Reem) Hartline. Pamela married James Ogburn on January 23, 1971 in Winston – Salem, North Carolina. Pamela was a kind and unselfish person. She was willing to help anyone when she could. She was a loving wife to Jim and always brightened his day.

She is survived by her husband, Jim and a sister, Jackie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Richard A. Salsi
August 1, 1923 - April 9, 2013

Mr. Richard 'Dick' A. Salsi, 89, of Cedar Point, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Peru followed by military rites conducted by the Peru Veteran’s Memorial Group. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Salsi was born August 1, 1923 in rural Peru to Cesare and Rose (Biagini) Salsi. He married Helen A. Kiefel on November 4, 1945 in Peru. She passed away on August 18, 2003.

Mr. Salsi served during WWII in the Merchant Marines and graduated from Bradley University. He was owner and operator of CPAK Meat Packing in Cedar Point. He was a member of the LaSalle Elks Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Anne (Ray) Wirtz of Lake Villa and Susan (Jim) Foster of Davenport, IA; one son, Scott (Julie) Salsi of Ijamsville, MD; five grandchildren, Heidi Wirtz, Jennifer Davis, Nile Foster, Palmer Foster, and Brianna Marie Salsi; and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Weiden of Cedar Point.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; one sister, Alice Brasi.

Honorary pallbearers will be his Breakfast Club.

Memorial donations may be directed to the American Red Cross in Peru or to the Valley Regional Cancer Society.

Marshall Emmett Anderson
APRIL 10, 1925 - APRIL 8, 2013

Marshall Anderson, 87, of rural Ottawa, was called to his heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family on April 8, 2013 at the Ottawa Pavilion.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Timothy Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Marsh was born April 10, 1925 in Freedom Township to Ole and Mathilde (Oftidahl) Anderson. He graduated from Serena High School. He married Magdalene Mary Dekreon on April 12, 1953 in Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Ottawa. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church. He farmed in Freedom Township which was his passion and was co-owner of Anderson –Ford dealership in Newark. He loved his family, cars and standard bred horse training.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Magdalene; four daughters, Denise Kaveney of Bloomington, Cindy (Frank) Stegman of Earlville, Monica (Brad) Warren of Ottawa and Sonja (Dale) Graffius of Chandler, AZ; six grandchildren, Peter (Janelle) Stegman, Andrew Stegman, Stacy (Dave) Grey, Clinton (Tamie) Warren, Dennis (Jessica) Warren and Shay Graffius; eight great-grandchildren, Lane, Kole, Maddi and Kadi Stegman, Jackson, Lucy, Jordyn Warren and Charlize Grey; one sister, Melva Myre of Seneca.

Marshall will always be remembered by starting each day with a trip to his favorite chair and a quick read of his favorite quote, 'Good Morning, This is God. I will be handling all of your problems today. I will not need your help. So relax and have a great day!'

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Skartveit, Dolores Krug; two brothers, Orion and Norman Anderson; a granddaughter, Abby Lynn Stegman and a son-in-law, Joe Kaveney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church or Vitas Hospice Care.

Frances M. Pacetti
April 29, 1924 - June 8, 2013

Mrs. Frances M. (Wawrzyniak) Pacetti, 89, of Peru, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2013 at her home.

Funeral services will be private at the Mueller Funeral Home in Peru with Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in LaSalle.

Mrs. Pacetti was born on April 29, 1924 in Peru to Walter J. and Josephine (Strozewski) Wawrzyniak. She married Dustin F. Pacetti on September 15, 1945 in St. Hyacinth’s Church in LaSalle. She attended Brown Business School and worked at Westclox in Peru for 16 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane Pacetti of Lima, Ohio; two sons, Danny J. (Wendy) Pacetti of Peru and Mark A. Pacetti of Peru; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dustin F. Pacetti on January 19, 2001.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph’s Church in Peru.

HAROLD W.F. LEPPIN
April 26, 1930 - June 6, 2013

Harold W.F. Leppin, 83, of LaSalle, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013 at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley. Harold previously resided in the Illinois Veterans’ Home in LaSalle since September 2012.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru with Rev. Timothy Kenyon, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood with full military rites. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle.

Mr. Leppin was born on April 26, 1930 in Altamont, IL to Wilbert and Clara (Nordbrock) Leppin. He married Sharon Feltes on June 12, 1965 at Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He owned and operated a home improvement business for many years.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru where he previously served as a board member. He was also a PADS volunteer, Mendota Lutheran Home board member, and 4-H leader.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of LaSalle; two daughters, Carolyn (Ernoe) Illes of Lombard and Amy (Tim) Van Tassel of Homer Glen; two grandchildren, Alexander and Michael Illes; one brother, Walter (Merrellee) Leppin of Ocean City, Maryland; one sister, Florence Leppin of Effingham, IL and one niece and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru, PADS or to the local Alzheimer’s Association.

Hilda Tharp

Hilda A. Tharp, 91, of 1606 N. Kellogg St., Galesburg, formerly of Avon, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. Born May 15, 1908, in Macy, Ind., to Wallace P. and Lillian Schindler Murphy, she married Donald E. Tharp on April 7, 1928, in Waukegan. He passed away Dec. 20, 1976. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jack Tharp, one daughter, two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Dolores) Starr of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. An Avon resident from 1963 to 1976, she owned a business there from 1963 to 1992. She was a member of First Christian Church in Galesburg. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. The Rev. David Seitz officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home.

Patricia Swanson

Patricia 'Pat' I. Swanson, age 69, of 310 Regal Park Drive, Valrito, Florida, formerly of Bushnell, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000 in Bushnell.

Born Nov. 28, 1930, in Bushnell to Lewis W. and Irene Dilts Hutchins, she married Robert L. Swanson on Dec. 28, 1984, in Bushnell. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Irene Hutchins of Bushnell; three sons, Larry (and Fay) Ebbert and Charles H. ( and Theresa) Ebbert, both of Bushnell, and Richard P. (and Jackie) Ebbert, Avon; two stepsons, Jeffrey (and Debbie) Swanson of Aliso Viejo, California, and James R. Swanson of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Rebecca K. (and Roger) McFetridge of Loveland, Colorado and Regina Gail Ebbert of Grand Prairie, Texas; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Swanson of Denver, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Kenneth Hutchins of Macomb; and one sister, Linda Spangler of Bushnell. Also surviving are two aunts, Marge Hovell and Carrie Lomax, Abingdon.

She worked as a custodian for the Bushnell-Prairie City School District for several years and was a charter member of the Jolly Twenty Club. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brandon, Florida. She was a former member of Bushnell Grandmother’s Club.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, with the Rev. Mary Jo Williams officiating.

Burial was in the Bushnell cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Bushnell Recreation Center, M.D.H. Hospice or New Philadelphia Methodist Church.

Lula 'Lu' M. Wilde

A graveside service for Lula 'Lu' Mae Wilde, 68, Roseville, were held Saturday, Jan. 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Biggsville cemetery, with Rev. James Oliver officiating.

Mrs. Wilde passed away Dec. 29, 1999, at 10:42 p.m. in Cottage Hospital, Galesburg. Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to the LaMoine Christian Nursing Home’s activity fund.

A daughter of William T. and Anna Mae Rude Salyers, she was born July 13, 1931 in Farmington, Iowa. She married Norman Wilde on June 2, 1957, who survives.

She also leaves: a son, Ronald Wilde, Virginia Beach, Va.; four daughters, Brenda Davis and Cindy Adkisson, both of Roseville, Mickie Osborn of Monmouth and Vickie Resor of Norwalk, Ohio; one brother, Ralph Salyers, Roseville; a sister, Betty Oaks, Seward, Neb.; 13 grandchildren and two great-gandchildren.

Her parents, a daughter, three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wilde grew up in Farmington, Iowa, and lived in Missouri and Ohio before moving to Monmouth, where she managed the Dog & Suds, and worked at the Monmouth Country Club and the Filling Station Restaurant. She also managed the Tower Inn in Roseville and was owner and operator of the Roseville at the time of her retirement.
