Died at the residence of her son John H. Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 8, 1897 at 3:30 o'clock at Colfax, Illinois, Mrs. Eliza Jane Discho aged 64 years, 1 month, and 1 day of Paralysis. Funeral services at the residence, Thursday, Dec. 9, 1897 at 7 o'clock p.m. Rev. John Wilkinson officiating. Interment at Green Valley, Illinois

DOYLE, Emily J.

LeRoy - Emily J. Doyle, 71, of LeRoy died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday 2-13-1999 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, with the Rev. Brent Anderson and the Rev. Kenneth Sloan-Couch officiating. Burial will be in Dawson cemetery, rural Ellsworth. Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the BroMenn Hospice Program, Normal, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Mrs. Doyle was born 9-11-1927 in Decatur, the daughter of Harvey R. and Lois Frink Crusius. She married Jack Doyle on 2-11-1950 in Downs. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mike Doyle, Arrowsmith; and Doug (Susan) Doyle, Bloomington. Other survivors include two granddaughters, Kristy Doyle, Ellsworth; and Katherine Doyle, Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Doyle was co-owner of Doyle Co. and Doyle Farms, Ellsworth. She was a member of the LeRoy First United Methdist Church and the LeRoy Longfellow Club. Mrs. Doyle was a 1949 graduate of the University of Illinois with a B.A. degree.

DOWELL, Ravonne "Ray"

Ravonne Dowell, 67, Colfax, died at 4:10 a.m Thursday 7-16-1998 at his residence. He had been ill. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Metzler - Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor; or the Martin Twp Library, Colfax. He was born 5-24-1931 in Havana, a son of Vernon and Bina Davis Dowell. He married Ruth Behrends on 9-2-1951 in New Holland. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jeffrey (Susie) Dowell, Colfax; two daughters, Jill A. Dowell, Sherman Oaks,Calif; and Joan Y. (Greg) Sick, Peoria; two brothers, Ronald (Barbara) Dowell, Colfax; and Reggie (Norma Jean) Dowell, Greenview; and a sister, Linda (Gail) Miller, Ashland. Also surviving are four grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. Ray was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, where he was a former president of the Church Council, Sunday school teacher, and Luther League sponsor. He served as chairman of the Stewardship Sub-Committee of the Central Southern Illinois Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. He was a graduate of Mason City High School and graduated with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1953, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in ag education and was named to the Bronze Tablet. He was a former high school ag teacher at DeLand-Weldon High School in DeLand. He has farmed in the Colfax area and was a pork producer since 1957. His farm was Illinois Farm of the Year in 1967 and the site of the FBFM State Farm Management tour the same year. Ray had been a commodities broker since 1974, when he opened Heinhold Commodities in Colfax, which now operates as R&R; Commodities. affiliated with ADM. He was serving on the board of directors of the Peoples State Bank of Colfax. He was a member of the Colfax Chamber of Commerce, was a founding member of FILM Co-Operative and was a founding member of the McLean County Pork Producers Association. He was named Illinois Pork All- American in 1970. He was also a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau and the National Introducing Brokers Association.

ANDREAE, Thelma G. "Jerry" Osborne

Thelma G. "Jerry" Andreae, 60, of rural Colfax died at 9:50 p.m. Friday 12-18-1987 at Mercy Hospital, Urbana. Her funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Anchor. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 tonight at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and one hour before services Monday at the church. She was born 4-25-1927 at Strawn, a daughter of Earl and Flossie Deer Osborne. She married Marvin Andreae 12-7-1943 at Fairbury. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Marvin Eugene "Butch" Andreae, Mansfield; two daughters, Marie Martin, Tuscola, and Delores "Dolly" Watkins, Arthur; one sister, Doris Gouge of Florida; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Mrs. Andreae was a resident of the Colfax area for five years. She was formerly of the Gibson City and Strawn areas. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

ARBOGAST, Merle

MERLE ARBOGAST, RETIRED POLICE CAPTAIN DIES Merle Arbogast, 67, of 212 Florence Ave., a veteran Bloomington police officer who retired in 1954, died at 3:15 p.m. Friday in Brokaw Hospital. He had been under a physician's care for some itme His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Metzler Memorial Home, with the Rev. Robert Ashman officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn cemetery, Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. Members of Voiture 40 et 8, American Legion will conduct a memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday in the memorial home. Mr. Arbogast joined the police department in 1929 and during the next 25 years, moved up through the ranks, ultimately being named night captain in 1949, the post he held at his retirement. He was appointed identification officer in 1940 and set up the department's first records and fingerprint system, after receiving training a the Federal Bureau of Investigation school for police officers, in Washington D.C. He was promoted to sergeant of police in 1944. While police captain, Mr. Arbogast also served as McLean County assistant juvenile probation officer for six years. He resigned from that post in 1952. He was born Nov. 15, 1899 in Downs, the son of Bernard and Nettie Phillips Arbogast Evans Crowder. He was married July 22, 1930 to Pearl Willavize in Joliet. Surviving are his wife, a son, Dan Arbogast, 810 Sheridan, Normal; his mother, 1305 W. Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Mary Sheehan, Long Island, New York; three grandchildren. His father, a brother and a sister preceded him in death. Mr. Arbogast, a veteran of World War l, was a member of the American Legion and a past commander of the Louis E. Davis Post, a member of the 40 et 8, Bloomington Masonic Lodge No. 43, Bloomington Consistory and of Centennial Christian Church.

ARBOGAST, Paige N.

Saybrook - Paige N. Arbogast, 83, of York, Neb., formerly of the Saybrook - Arrowsmith area, died 8-27-1995 at York General Hospital. A memorial service was Sept 2 at East Avenue Methodist Church, York. Survivors, include his wife, Hester, York; one son, Lynn Arbogast, Hanover Park; one daughter, Linda Goertzen, Henderson, Neb.; and seven grandchildren. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Verna Arbogast, Hanover Park, and one son-in-law, Ron Goertzen, Henderson, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one son. He was born 5-23-1912 in Arrowsmith. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Saybrook Community High School. He served in the Army during WWII, stationed in North Africa and Southern France. He married Hester Means on 6-14-1946. Mr. Arbogast was a welder and small-engine mechanic. He was a business partner in Saybrook with his brother, Ivan, until he retired in 1968. After retiring, he enjoyed volunteer work in each community in which he lived.

AYLWARD, Thomas

Thomas Aylward died in St. Mary's hospital at Quincy last Friday. He was the only brother of Mrs. Keefe of Colfax, and spent part of his time here the past few years. Mrs. Keefe and son, Ben attended the funeral.

BANE, Charles K.
The funeral of Charles K. "Chuck" Bane, 47, of Farmer City, formerly of Saybrook, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Saybrook, the Rev. Brad Dawson, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Saybrook. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Bane died at 9:44 p.m. Thursday 12-22-1994 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana of injuries from an accident on Illinois 54, 1-1/2 miles north of US 136 in McLean County. He was born 10-12-1947 at Bloomington, a son of Darrell Lee and Rubie Messick Bane. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Bobbie and Rubie Morris, Charlottesville, VA.; three sons, Travis, Dallas; and Joshua C. and Wesley S., both of Farmer City; one brother, Terry L., Laurel, MD.; and one sister, Virginia Tidwell, Dallas. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Bane was the owner of Bull-X Inc. Farmer City. He was a member of Wesbein Methodist Church, Saybrook, and the Cheney's Grove Masonic Lodge 468, Saybrook. He was a life member of the National Rifle Assn and the Illinois State Rifle Assn. In 1985, he won the Il State action pistol championship; and in 1986 he won the high newcomer at the Bianchi Cup. He was an action pistol shooter high master and a member of the Saybrook Sportsmen's Club. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

BANE, Melba A. Beecher Quinn

Melba A. Bane, 79, of Sibley, a retired hospital employee, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday 2-5-1992 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Anchor. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and from 2 - 3 p.m. Friday at the church. Mrs. Bane was born 10-26-1912 at Anchor, a daughter of John E. and Maude Hasty Beecher. She married Lee Quinn 11-4-1933 in Covington, Ind. He died 5-19-1975. On 9-22-1979 she married Charles Bane in Anchor. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Charles Quinn, Saybrook; one daughter, Judith Glascock, Sibley; one stepson, Bill Bane, Clarence; three stepdaughters, Mary McCormick, Tolono; Rose Beasley, Austin, TX; and Patricia Farris, Elliott; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two brothers, Delmar Beecher, Pontiac, and Ralph Beecher, Bloomington; and one sister, Mildred Trembley, Colfax. Mrs. Bane spent most of her life in the Colfax-Anchor-Saybrook and Gibson City areas and moved to Sibley in 1975. She was employed at Gibson Community Hospital for 10 years retiring in 1978. Mrs. Bane was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Sibley American Legion Auxiliary Unit. Memorials may be made to her church or the American Lung Association.

ANDREAE, Wilma J. Clausen

Wilma J. Andreae, 59, of Gibson City, a medical services worker, died at 1:25 p.m. yesterday 4-6-1989 at Mercy Hospital, Urbana. Mrs. Andreae died of cancer. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and for one hour before the service Sunday at the church. She was born 7-3-1929 in Drummer Twp, a daughter of Henry and Ella Schmidt Clausen. She married Ivan C. Andreae on 11-21-1948 in Anchor. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark, Gibson City; a daughter, Janie A. Mehlan, Lorton, Va.; her mother, Gibson City; four sisters, Lois Friese, Leesburg, Fla.; Elaine Boyd, Normal; Janice Riddle, Danvers; and Frances Henshaw, Minooka; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Andreae had been a resident of Gibson City since 1948. She worked for the Gibson City Clinic for 33 years, then for Dr. Somchai Supawanich of Gibson City for 15 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Anchor, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. She also was a member of the Shufflin' Shoe Square Dance Club. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or the Mercy Hospital Hospice Care Program.
