BOSSINGHAM, Floyd L.

Floyd L. Bossingham, 92, of 2807 Grandview Drive, Bloomington, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday 7-18-1996 at Martin Health Care Center, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Dean Benton officiating. Burial will be Mount Pleasant cemetery, Stanford. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bossingham; two daughters, Mary Lou Schuler, Lexington; and Joan Graff, Minier; two sons, David Bossingham, Fairfield, Iowa; and Roger Bossingham, Bloomington; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was born 8-24-1903, in Stanford, the son of John H. and Elizabeth Brown Bossingham. He married Ardis L. Patterson 12-20-1926. She died 2-3-1982 He then married Dorothy Stubblefield Stephens 9-2-1982, at Funks Grove. She survives. Mr. Bossingham farmed and raised livestock. He was a charter member of the McLean County Farm Bureau. He was a nationally known breeder of Duroc swine and served on the United Duroc Record Board and was raising and showing Barrod Plymouth Rock chickens. Mr. Bossingham served in many capacities, including serving on the Stanford school board, teaching Sunday school at Stanford Presbyterian Church for 40 years and holding other church offices. He was a former supervisor of Allin Twp, chairman of the McLean County Board and served on the McLean County Board of Review. He was a member of Comet Masonic Lodge and Bloomington Consistory.

BOYD, R. Jean (Lucas)

BLOOMINGTON -- R. Jean Boyd, 72, of East Adams Street, Towanda, formerly of Bloomington, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 1994, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center. Born June 13, 1922, in Lexington to Michael M. and Lola Ross Lucas, she married Carl T. Boyd on Dec. 10, 1938, in Illinois. He died Dec. 30, 1987. One son also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Carl E. of Cooksville, John of Forrest and Terry of Lexington; four daughters, Evelyn Morgan of Normal, Charlotte Metz of Windsor, Colo., Norma Gilliam of Colfax and Mary Collins of Morton; one brother, Fred Lucas of Dallas City; one sister, LaVerta Harlan of Quinlan, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She retired from Eureka Williams Co. of Bloomington, served as an election judge in Normal and attended the former New Testament Church of Towanda. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

BRADFORD, Lyle O.

DUNFERMLINE -- Lyle O. Bradford, 64, of P.O. Box 33 died at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1993, at Graham Hospital in Canton. Born May 31, 1929, in Anchor to Roy and Celia Stretch Bradford, he married Thelma Lee on Aug. 19, 1970, in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Robert of Lexington, Mark of Bloomington, Russel and Charles, both of California; one daughter, Azalia Mecham of Bloomington; a great-niece, Dawn White of Lewistown, who was raised in the Bradford home; four grandchildren; four brothers, Bert of Colfax, Russel of Cooksville, Roy L. Sr. of Bloomington and Erman of Gibson City; and two sisters, Alice Wyant of North Liberty, Ind., and Carol Hereford of Colfax. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He worked in maintenance at Rice Lake, last working June 1. A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 16 in Canton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be one hour earlier. The Rev. John Beesley will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wiley cemetery in Colfax. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

BRANDT, Elsie E. Steinlicht

Elsie E. Brandt, 99, of Gibson City, formerly of rural Anchor, died at 8:50 p.m. Thursday 11-4-1993 at Gibson Community Hospital Annex, Gibson City. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. tonight at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and from noon - 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Mrs. Brandt was born 12-4-1893, rural Anchor, a daughter of Emil and Pauline Rhode Steinlicht. She married Otto F. Brandt, 12-20-1911 in rural Sibley. He died 10-2-1953. Survivors include two sons, Orville Brandt of McHenry, and Edmund Brandt of Gibson City; one daughter, Maureen Prettyman of Delavan; three half-sisters, Margaret Vogel, Mason City, Viola Hurst, address unknown; and Louise Mattson, Boston; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Brandt lived in the Anchor area until moving to Gibson City in 1954. She was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for seven years and was a member of the Dorcas Society of the church. She was a member of the Anchor Home Bureau. Memorials may be made to her church.

JONES, Louis

Louis Jones, 88, a resident of Blooming Grove Convalescent Center for three years and formerly of Anchor and Chenoa, died at 1:33 a.m. yesterday 5-23-1988 at Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, rural Anchor. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday at the memorial home. Mr. Jones was born 1-5-1900 in Hoyleton, a son of George and Minna Neuhaus Jones. He married Anne Louise Gerwick in Bloomington in 1932. She died 4-6-1964. Survivors include two daughters, Marcia Baker of Weldon and Evelyn Baker of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Jones, a retired farmer, had lived in Chenoa and Anchor since 1956. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, to which memorials may be made.

JONES, Emery E.

The funeral of Emery E. Jones, 85, of Saybrook will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. Pastor Melvin C. Blobaum will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Saybrook. Mr. Jones died at 5:02 p.m. Saturday 7-16-1994 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. He was born 3-18-1909 at Fisher, the son of George E. and Melvina Jordan Jones. He married Clara E. Aschenbrenner 2-10-1936 at Aston. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Byron, Saybrook; one brother, Keith, Danville; one sister, Edith Knight, Crawfordsville, Ind.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Jones was a retired farmer and a 1926 graduate of Fisher High School. He also graduated from the University of Illinois in 1930. He was a member of the Bloomington Production Credit Association for 20 years and was a member of the Saybrook-Arrowsmith school board for many years. He served as president of both boards. A member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, he served as chairman of the building committee, Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of the church board and trustee of the church's foundation. He also was a member of the East Central Brotherhood for six years and served as its president. He was a charter member of the Saybrook Lions Club and a 10-year-member of the McLean County Zoning Commission. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church Foundation or to the St. John's Lutheran Church building fund.

KLINTWORTH, Edward Herman
Edward H. Klintworth, 93, of Colfax, formerly of Anchor died at 8:40 p.m. Monday 3-24-2003 at Heritage Manor, Colfax. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor; the Rev. Steven Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7:30 pm. Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, and one hour before the service Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Eastern McLean County Ambulance or a charity of the donor's choice. Mr. Klintworth was born 9-17-1909 in Anchor, a son of Henry and Emma Schleeter Klintworth. He married Eileen Laberta Hiser 3-31-1935 in Anchor. She died 8-26-2002. Survivors included three sons: Lee (Jolene) Klintworth, Anchor; Keith (Joy) Klintworth, Dunlap; and Terry Klintworth, Champaign; six grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one daughter, and one granddaughter.

KLINTWORTH, Eileen Laberta Hiser

The funeral for Eileen Laberta Klintworth, 88, of rural Anchor will be at 11 a.m Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Stephen Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, and from 10 - 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. She died at 12:10 p.m. Monday 8-27-2002 at Heritage Manor, Colfax. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church building fund; Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association; or to a charity of the donor's choice. She was born 11-17-1913 at Colfax, a daughter of Bernie and Sara Burk Hiser. She married Edward Klintworth on 3-31-1935 at Anchor and he survives. Other survivors include three sons, Lee (Jolene) Klintworth, Anchor; Keith (Joy) Klintworth, Dunlap; and Terry Klintworth, Champaign; a brother, Bernard (Joyce) Hiser, Sellersburg, Ind.; two sisters, Virginia Allen and Ramona Preston, both of Bloomington; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, a daughter and one granddaughter. Mrs. Klintworth was a homemaker. She was a 1932 graduate of Colfax High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Anchor.

KLINTWORTH, Janette Howk

The funeral of Janette Klintworth, 89, of Colfax, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. The Rev. Robert Ferro will officiate; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at Metzler - Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, and for one hour before the service at the church. She died at 5:30 p.m. Monday 2-19-2001 at her residence. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church endowment fund. Mrs. Klintworth was born 12-23-1911 in Melvin, the daughter of George Frederick and Bertha Moser Howk. She married Elmer B. Klintworth on 2-23-1936 in Melvin. He died 9-29-1960. Survivors include one son, Tom (Nancy) Klintworth, Saybrook. Also surviving are three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Howk; and one sister, Marguerite Thackeray. Mrs. Klintworth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. She was a Linotype operator for the Ford Co. Press, Melvin, for a number of years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

BREDING, John Detlaf

John D. Breding was born 12-14-1838 in Henstedt, near Heide, Holstein Germany. He was baptized soon after birth and later received religious instructions in the Lutheran church of his home place. After his confirmation he was engaged in field work. In 1864 he was married to Miss Margaret Stroh and they lived in the neighborhood of Henstedt until 1873, when they went to America in the company of Mrs. Breding's father, Claus Stroh, and some other friends. They first settled near Saybrook, McLean Co., Il., where some of their relatives then lived, and where Mr. Breding found employment on the farm. Later he farmed for himself until he took up the carpenters trade. Their marriage was blessed with eleven children; five of them were born in Germany and six in America. An infant son and a daughter, Minnie, aged 8 years, died near Saybrook and are buried there. Two daughters, Anna and Mrs. Louise (Fred) Schroeder, are buried in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, rural Anchor. Those mourning his departure are his aged widow and the following children: Mrs. Magdalene (Jacob) Frahm, Mrs. Mary (John) Clausen; Henry Breding; Mrs. Emma (Peter) Schroeder; Alex Breding; Mrs. Louella (Edward) Simpsen; and Mrs. Augusta (Cecil) Mott. Three sisters in Nebraska, one brother in Montana, 42 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church congregation since it was organized 10-28-1877. He enjoyed good health until old age and was able to work until only a few years ago, when he made his home with his children. A few weeks ago he was taken sick but seemed to recover again; but on March 22 a paralytic stroke weakened him so that his strength declined fast. He received the Holy Communion on March 22 with his wife, and on Easter morning (3-27-1921) he passed away, aged 82 years 3 months andd 13 days. May he rest in peace. (buried in St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery, rural Anchor)

BRANDT, Matilda Hansen

Mrs. Matilda Brandt, 90, died Wednesday 2-6-1985, in Santa Cruz, Ca., a memorial service was held in California on February 10. She was born 7-4-1894, the daughter of August and Julia Derrer Hansen of Thornton, Iowa. She married Walter F. Brandt of Anchor 6-1-1916 in Iowa. They farmed in Iowa for two years before moving to Illinois. Her husband died 7-9-1950. She is survived by two sons, Virgil of Strathmore, Ca. and Wallace of Kinnelon, NJ, and one daughter, Phyllis Heckenbach of Lakewood, Col.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons. Memorial services were held Sunday morning, February 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.
