BRANDT, Dr. Wallace
Dr. Wallace Brandt, 66, of Durango, Colo., formerly of Flanagan and Anchor, died Tuesday 9-2-1997 at Mercy Medical Center, Durango, Colo. There will be a memorial service Saturday at First Baptist Church, Durango. A memorial service will be at St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery, Anchor later this month. Hood Mortuary, Durango, has charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home, Flanagan, or the Wally Brandt Endowment, University of Illinois Foundation, Urbana. The Wally Brandt Endowment will grant the Brandt Award annually to a senior student with an interest in rural veterinary medicine. Survivors include his wife, Bernette "Bunny" Brandt; four daughters, Lynn Wynn, Woodstock; Carol Brandt, Albuquerque, NM; Cristen Brandt, Evergreen Colo.; and Rebecca Condit, Westmont, NJ; one son, Randall Brandt, Rosemount, Minn.; one sister, Phyllis Heckenbach, Lakewood, Colo.; one brother, Virgil Brandt, Strathmore, Calif; and five grandchildren. Dr. Brandt was born 8-31-1931 at Anchor to Walter F. and Mathilda K. Brandt. His parents, two brothers and a granddaughter preceded him in death. Before retiring in 1991, he had spent 20 years in food animal veterinary practice in Flanagan and then 16 years as manager, Veterinary Clinical Research Hoffmann-LaRoche, Inc. at Nutley, NJ. While in food animal practice at Flanagan from 1955 - 1975, he specialized in swine medicine and health. He was a founding member of American Association of Swine Practitioners and served as president from 1972-73. He also served as president of the International Pig Veterinary Society in 1976, when the IPVS Congress met in Ames, Iowa. Dr. Brandt also was active in civic activities, serving as mayor of Flanagan 12 years and founding president of Good Samaritan Home, a non-profit home for the aging for eight years.
BREDING, Margaret Stroh
Margaret Breding was the daughter of Claus and Anna Paulson Stroh. She was born 3-26-1841 at Weddingstedt, near Heide, Holstein Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In the year of 1864, she was married
to Mr. John D. Breding and they resided at Hemstedt, near Weddingstedt, until 1873, when they came to America. They settled near Saybrook and later near Anchor. They were some of the first members of St. John's Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with eleven children, four of whom preceded their parents in death. 3-27-1921 her husband passed away. Several years ago Mrs. Breding had the misfortune of falling and breaking her hip. Since then she was quite disabled, and it was hard for her to get about and finally was not able to walk at all and had to spend quite a bit of time in bed, but her children did everything which would make her comfortable and nursed her tenderly. On 3-19-1924 she passed away, aged 83 years, 11 months and 21 days. She leaves two sons; Henry Breding of Gibson City; Alexander Breding; five daughters; Mrs. Magdalene (Jacob) Frahm of Saybrook; Mrs. Mary (John) Clausen of Anchor; Mrs. Emma (Peter) Schroeder and Mrs. Ella (Edward) Simpsen of Saybrook and Mrs. Augusta (Cecil) Mott of Cropsey and 45 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The funeral services took place at 12:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Clausen, and at 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. A. Hahn officiating. The grandsons of the deceased were the pallbearers and the granddaughters were the flower girls. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The funeral was largely attended.
LANDAU, Edna L. Friday
Edna L. Landau, 97, of Anchor died at 6:20 pm. Monday 4-30-2001 at Heritage Manor, Colfax. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Bruce Heck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, has charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery. She was born 3-12-1904 in Anchor, a daughter of Henry and Anna Bielfeldt Friday. She married
Ferdinand A. Landau on 2-14-1924. He died 11-29-1961. Survivors include two daughters, Betty (John) Barth, Colfax; and Darlene (Donald) Hammer, Anchor; one son, Robert (Shirley) Landau, Anchor; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and one infant daughter. Mrs. Landau, who was a homemaker, had been a life-long resident of Anchor and Gibson City. She was educated in Anchor schools. She was a member of the Dorcas Society of the church, Anchor Friendship Club; and Colfax NTO (Never Too Old).
LANDAU, Julius
The funeral for Julius Landau, 86, of Bradenton, Fl. formerly of Saybrook and Anchor, who died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday 1-6-1983 at Bradenton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. A. Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m. today at the Stensel-Calvert-Belangee Funeral Home, Saybrook, and an hour before the service at the church. He was born 8-23-1896, at Holstein, Germany, a son of Ferdinand and Antje Beckman Landau. He married
Caroline Lage 2-9-1922 at Anchor. She died 11-12-1959. He married
Louise Krum Haines 11-24-1960. She survives. Also survivng are a daughter, Norine White, Tulsa, Ok.; a step-daughter, Leah Monical, Fort Myers, Fl.; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Three brothers and six sisters preceded him in death Mr. Landau came to Anchor from Germany in 1908 and was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1942, when he moved to Saybrook. He was a member of St. Armand Lutheran Church, Sarasota, Fl.
LARSON, Lillian Riecks
The funeral of Lillian Larson, 88, a resident of Octavia Manor Nursing Home, Colfax, who died Tuesday 12-3-1985, will be at 11 a.m Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating; burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. today at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, and an hour before the service at the church. She was born 3-10-1897 at Anchor, a daughter of Edward and Elize George Riecks. She married
Walter Larson on 9-23-1922 at Joliet. He died 6-9-1964. Survivors include three sisters, Anne Marrin, Colfax; Irma Mueller, Westminster, Ca.; and Rita Riecks, San Angelo, Ca. A brother and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Larson was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. She was employed by the Chicago Board of Education for more than 40 years, retiring in 1970. She was a Bloomington area resident for nine years after her retirement.
BRANDT, John F.
John F. Brandt, 81, Golconda, and formerly of Anchor, died at 5 p.m. Friday (March 1965) at Rosiclare Hospital at Rosiclare, where he had been a patient for a day. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. He was born 1-3-1884 near Anchor, a son of Henry and Minnie Frahm Brandt. He lived at Anchor until moving to Golconda ten years ago. He is survived by a brother, August, of Gibson City; and three sisters, Elsie Brandt, Gibson City; Amanda Swaim of Rantoul; and Wilhelmina Parker of Danforth. He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
BRANDT, Mary A. Lanz
Mary A. Brandt, 97, a lifetime resident of the Anchor-Colfax areas and the oldest member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, died at 1:50 a.m. yesterday 2-14-1991 at Octavia Manor, Colfax, where she had been a resident two days. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Duffy-Pills Memorial Home, Colfax, and from 1 - 2 p.m. Monday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. Mrs. Brandt was born 2-15-1893 in Baltic, Ohio, a daughter of Andrew and Emma Anliker Lanz. She married
Louis J. Brandt 1-14-1915 in Sibley. He died 1-9-1958. Survivors include two sons, William A. Brandt of Union Grove, Wis.; and Leon D. Brandt of Colfax; two daughters, Emalyn Thomas of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Lois Wise of Dalton; two sisters, Emma Mayhugh of Goshen, Ind. and Kathryn Crow of St. Joe, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, one daughter, six brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Brandt was a member of the Dorcas Society of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a Gold Star Mother of the Colfax Davis-Kerber American Legion Auxiliary Unit 653.

Edna H. Brokate, 87, a resident of Gibson Manor, Gibson City for 10 months died at 3:29 a.m. yesterday at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. today at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and from 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Brokate was born 9-20-1904 at Saybrook, a daughter of Henry L. and Mary M. Hansen Fasking. She married
John H. Brokate 8-15-1948 in Anchor. He died 3-3-1976. Survivors include one sister, Clara Thedens, Gibson City. One sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Brokate was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Society of the church, and the Garber Club, Gibson City. Memorials may be made to her church.
JOHN BROKATE
John Brokate, 82, died at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday 3-3-1976 at Gibson Community Hospital,. His funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor with Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Brokate was born 7-26-1893 at Osgood, Ind., a son of William and Mary Thielbar Brokate. He married
Minnie Roesch 12-16-1919. She died 3-9-1947. He then married
Edna Fasking 8-15-1948 near Anchor. Surviving are his widow and a brother William of Gibson City. His parents and three sisters preceded him in death. He farmed in the Anchor area before retiring and moving to Gibson City in 1948. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Men's Brotherhood of the church. Mr. Brokate was a WWI veteran and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post of Anchor.
HINRICHSEN, Ralph
Ralph Hinrichsen, a retired farmer who resided in Colfax, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday 7-20-1969 in Gibson Community Hospital at Gibson City. He had been ill the past three weeks and a patient in the hospital. He was brought to the Harper Funeral Home, Colfax, where visitation was held on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor. Rev Alexander Youck officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. He was born at Anchor 2-3-1908, a son of Herman and Emma Beecher Hinrichsen. He married
Hazel Taylor of Anchor on 2-212-1929 at Bloomington. Survivors are his wife, two sons, Gerald of Anchor; and Randy at home; three daughters, Doris Hyett of Colfax; Dorothy Sanders of Columbia, Mo.; Connie Fackler of Anchor; a brother, Roy of Colfax; and a sister, Anna Schleeter of Anchor; 15 grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. Mr. Hinrichsen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Anchor.
HINRICHSEN, Hazel Irene Taylor
Hazel Irene Hinrichsen, age 88, a resident of Heritage Manor in Gibson City and formerly of Colfax, died at 6 p.m. Friday 9-24-1999 at the nursing home. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor with the Reverend Robert Ferro officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 9 - 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Mrs. Hinrichsen was born 11-25-1910 in Anchor, a daughter of William and Eva Austin Taylor. She married
Ralph H. Hinrichsen on 2-221-1929 in Anchor. He died 7-20-1969. Survivors include three daughters, Doris Hyatt of Colfax; Dorothy (Milton) Sanders of Columbia, Mo and Connie Fackler-Peters of Gibson City; two sons, Gerald (Marcell) Hinrichsen of Monticello, GA and Randy (Nancy) Hinrichsen of Colfax; two sisters, Lois Bielfeldt of Anchor and Louise Hoffman of Pontiac; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur andd Floyd Taylor and two sisters, Edith Riecks and Cleo Blundy and seven half-brothers and sisters. Formerly of Colfax and Anchor, Mrs. Hinrichsen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Anchor. Memorials may be given to her church or to the Gibson Area Telecare.
HONNER, Lillian (Phillips)
Pantagraph Nov. 1983 Bloomington, Illinois - DOWNS - Lillian (Phillips) Honnor, 96, of Rialto, Calif, a retired teacher and Downs native, died Nov. 13, 1983, in Rialto. Cremation rites were accorded. Her graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 30, at Hopewell cemetery, Downs, the Rev. Fred Belcher officiating. Mrs. Honnor was born Nov. 1, 1887, a daughter of Solomon and Sarah (Teter) Phillips. She married
George Honnor in 1911. He preceded her in death. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Five brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Honnor began teaching at age 16 and continued for 12 years. She was a member of the Downs United Methodist Church for many years and was active in the Farm and Home Bureaus. Memorial may be made to the Downs United Methodist Church.
