Holly Vene, 53, of Highland Park, IL passed away at her home on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Holly is survived by her husband Christian, her beloved son MacKenzie, mother Dolores Webster of Media, PA, sister Robin Houtz of Plymouth Meeting, PA and many adoring friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Houtz of Havertown, PA, . Mrs. Vene was Chief Operating Officer and Board Member of Meditrina Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Ann Arbor, MI, and President of Strategic Partnering International LLC, a management consulting practice. She was employed by G.D. Searle & Co. for 17 years and was Vice-President of European Operations at the time of Searle’s merger with Pharmacia/Upjohn in 2000. Holly was the driving force for keeping the Searle Europe “family” connected with annual celebrations across Europe. She began her career at Pepsico, prior to joining Searle in 1983. Mrs. Vene held an MBA from New York University Stern School of Management, NY 1979, and a BS in Mathematics and French from Dickinson College, PA 1977. She also completed the International Management Program, HEC, Paris, France in 1978. Words are inadequate to describe who she was as a person. Holly was a well-traveled individual who appreciated the people, cultures, friends and business colleagues from around the world. She loved spending time in France with her husband and his family and hosting events in the Lake District in Italy. Holly will always hold a special place in the hearts and prayers of those who loved her. In lieu of flowers donations for the continued support of her son MacKenzie would be appreciated, please send donations to MacKenzie Vene, C/O Wenban Funeral Home. Ruby Pawl passed away on September 3, 2009 at age of 102 years young. She was born May 6, 1907 in Martinsville, Illinois. She grew up in southern Illinois and Indiana, enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and needlework. She will be especially remembered for her mushroom gravy, her grandmother’s cocoa cake, her hand made Valentine hearts and the many Afghans she crocheted for her family. One of her favorite memories was waving to Charles Lindbergh as he flew from St. Louis to New York. Ruby was the source of much sage advice to her family: “Do whatever you do with a happy heart.” “Enjoy the things in life and be happy” and her favorite, “Always walk on the sunny side of the street”. Ruby spread her own sunshine with her sparkling earrings, twinkling eyes and beautiful smile. Ruby was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Phillip J. Pawl, nine siblings and her parents Jesse and Eva Graham. She is survived by a son, Dr. Ronald Pawl (Mary) of Lake Forest and Hawaii and daughter, Marcia Ries (Tom) of Edina, Minnesota; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Hill; nieces and nephews; caregivers, Yelena Slovobnik and Alicia Jemez and her many friends at Hawthorn Lakes, Vernon Hills where she lived for the past 15 years. Visitation will be 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest, IL 60045. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Entombment Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Reginald Lance Eason, 47, of Lake Forest, IL, died March 26, 2010 at his home in Lake Forest. Reggie was the Director of Information Technology at Abbott Laboratories; and served on the Board of Directors at Lake Forest Country Day School, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Healthreach Clinic. As a dedicated professional, Reggie was proud of his team at Abbott, where he worked hard to achieve his goals and provide for his family. Beloved husband of Angela Smith Eason, loving father to Brandon Blake Eason, loving son of Mercedes and Tatum Eason, and loving brother of the late Hilton Dirk Eason. Visitation Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Wenban Funeral Home, 320 East Vine Ave. Lake Forest, IL 60045. Memorial service immediately following. Burial private. Kyle Adams Carney of Lake Forest, IL and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL died March 20, 2010 at age 85 following a long illness. Her beloved husband ‘Colonel’ William J. Carney predeceased her on April 21, 2005. Kyle is survived by 4 daughters – Keven C. Wilder, Kyle C. Gregory, Lisa C. Stebbins, Amanda C. Mabie and a son William Roy Carney II and 14 grandchildren. A graduate of the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT, Kyle graduated with a BA in Art History from Smith College class of 1946. Following her college graduation, she taught at the Francis Parker School, her alma mater. She was actively involved with the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Fashion Show, the Lake Forest Garden Club, the Contemporary Club and the Friday Club. She also served on the Ferry Hall School Board of Directors (now the Lake Forest Academy). An avid tennis player and golfer, Kyle loved travelling the world and entertaining her wide and loyal circle of friends. In the mid-60’s, well-ahead of her time, Kyle launched a series of entrepreneurial ventures including a daycare summer camp, an innovative coin-operated dry cleaning business and an apparel store. Visitation from 5-7PM on Friday March 26th at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest, IL. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kyle’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631.
