APOLONIO J. RIOS
SATANTA -- Apolonio J. Rios, 50, died Friday, January 16, 2004, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
He was born April 10, 1953, to Dionicio R. and Juana (Juarez) Rios in Ojinaga, Mexico.
He moved from Mexico to Satanta in 1969.
Survivors include four sons, Apolonio Rios Jr., Leon Rios, Jesse Rios and Adam Rios, all of Great Bend; two brothers, Jose Rios and wife, Araceli, Liberal, Manuel Rios and wife, Nancy, Satanta; three sisters, Rita Urquidi and husband, Javier, Satanta, Maria Aranjo and husband, Alvaro, Satanta, Guadalupe and husband, Ramon, Juliet, Ill. and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Sinai Pentecostal Church in Sublette with the Pastor Felix Salazar presiding.
Burial will be at the Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. Monday at the Sinai Pentecostal Church in Sublette.
MELVIN WAYNE RIEGER
Melvin Wayne Rieger, 80, died Sunday January 18, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born August 13, 1923, at Burlington, Okla. to John and Mary (Staiger) Rieger.
Melvin was beloved by his family and friends.
He graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, Okla. and then farmed in the Burlington area.
On July 22, 1946, he married Mary Pauline Curry in Anthony and to this union, one son Monty was born.
In 1960, Melvin and his family moved to Liberal and he worked as a real estate broker until his retirement.
He was a member of Trinity Faith Church in Liberal.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
He is survived by his son Monty and wife Marlene, Liberal. A dear friend and sister-in-law, Doris Curry, Hugoton who was so supportive and helpful during his illness.
Two brothers, A.D. "Bud" Rieger and wife, Imogene, Wichita and Dale Rieger and wife Barbie, Lafayette, Colo; one sister, Zelma Reynolds, Wichita and several nieces and nephews that were very dear to Melvin.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Faith Church with the Pastor Dee Estes presiding.
Burial will be from 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Alva Municipal Cemetery
in Alva, Okla.
Calling time will be at 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

JOHN C. BARTEL
MEADE -- John C. Bartel, 77, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at Via Christi Saint Francis in Wichita.
He was born May 22, 1926, to John B. and Elizabeth T. (Classen) Bartel in Meade.
He married Katie L. Thiessen Aug. 30, 1952, in Morris, Manitoba, Canada. She died Sept. 20, 2000.
He was a lifetime resident of Meade and was a self-employed carpenter, having worked with many area carpenters. He also worked as a sales consultant for Meade Home Lumber.
He was a charter member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade, having served as a Deacon and the Sunday School Treasurer for several years.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence J. Bartel and wife, Lois, Liberty, Mo.; one daughter, Arlene J. Ediger and husband, Laural, Meade; one brother, Dick Bartel, Reedley, Calif.; three sisters, Marie Bryant, Pratt, Sara Reimer, Meade, and Margaret Bartel, Meade; three grandchildren, Krista Bartel, Liberty, Mo. and Briann and Brock Ediger, Meade.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George C. Bartel and Henry C. Bartel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade with the Reverend David Cummings presiding.
Burial will be at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery
in rural Meade.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

BETTY ANN BULTMAN
ELKHART -- Betty Ann Bultman, 75, died Monday, January 19, 2004, at Comfort Care in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 10, 1928, to Glenn and Ruth (Whitecraft) Reazin in Phoenix, Ariz.
She married Eldon F. Bultman June 6, 1954, in Texhoma, Okla. He survives.
She graduated from Elkhart High School in Elkhart in 1946. She was a bookkeeper of Bultman Inc. and Bultman L.P. Gas Delivery Service in Elkhart, Hugoton and Ulysses.
She was a longtime member of the Elkhart City Council, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Christ Lutheran Church, former president and secretary of the local Aid Association for Lutherans and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Elkhart Senior Center.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Bultman and wife, Patty, Hugoton, and Gary Bultman and wife, Clydene, Los Altos Hills, Calif.; three brothers, Vernon Reazin, Vida, Ore., Willard Reazin, Ruidoso, N.M., and Dr. Walter Reazin, Wichita; one sister, Myrta Ruth Moore, Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren, Brandon, Hugoton, and Danielle and Katie, Los Altos Hills, Calif.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Darrell, Eldon, and Warren Reazin and one sister, Helen Hinch.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Elkhart with the Pastor James A. Lucas presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.

VERLA MARIE SULLIVAN
ROLLA -- Verla Marie Sullivan, 86, died Tuesday January 20, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital in Guymon, Okla.
She was born Jan. 29, 1917, to Harrison Ora and Ida Catherine (Frede) Brunkauin Claremore, Okla.
She married Charles William Sullivan June 29, 1942, in Manchester, Conn. He survives.
She graduated from Chase Kansas High School in 1934. She attended Breese College in Hutchinson and Bethany Peniel College in Bethany, Okla. where she graduated with her B.S. Degree in Religious Education.
She was a third grade teacher in Richfield, Rolla and Elkhart for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Elkhart Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed working in the card ministry.
She enjoyed doing different crafts and beadwork.
Other survivors include one son, Ron Sullivan and wife, Deanna, Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Judy Ensminger, Fairview, Okla.; Jan Sullivan, Olathe; six grandchildren, Jayson and Jodi Ensminger, Colorado Springs, Colo. Jaymi and Stephen Smith, Tuscon, Ariz., Jayci and Kenny Howardson, Fairview, Okla., Valerie and Anthony Henry, Oklahoma City, Okla. Vicki and Vanessa Sullivan, Amarillo, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Elijah and Charis Smith, Kendra and Kaycee Howardson; and two sisters, Roma and husband, Kenneth Taylor, Overland Park, and Erline Brunkau, Bethany, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Carol Jean Sullivan, one granddaughter, Staci Dianne Ensminger, and one son-in-law, Glenn Ensminger.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Nazarene in Elkhart with the Pastor Jimmye Cole presiding and Pastor Danny Joiner assisting.
Burial will follow at the Rolla Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time at the Elkhart Church of the Nazarene on Friday.

BILLIE JEAN FLORES
ULYSSES -- Betty "Jean" Flores, 64, died Wednesday January 21, 2004, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
She was born Feb. 10, 1939, to William Robert and Ada Elizabeth (Parret) Hagan in Nowata, Okla.
She married Manuel C. Flores April 14, 1984, at Ulysses. He survives.
She was a homemaker. She was one of Jehovah's witnesses.
Other survivors include her husband, Manuel C. Flores, Ulysses; four sons, Frank Perdue and wife, Tari, Lawrence, Randy Rossi and wife, Christina, Phoenix, Ariz., Ruben Flores and wife, Stella, Ulysses; David Flores and wife, Jodi, Ulysses; four daughters, Rae Borthwork and husband, Marvin, Ulysses, Elvira Esser and husband James, Ulysses, Martha Gonzalez and husband, Cesar, Elizabeth, N.J., Sarah Munoz, and husband, Leonard, Dixon, Calif.; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 929 N. Joyce, Ulysses with Barry Hagerman presiding.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
GARY STEVEN ELLEXSON
GARLAND, Texas -- Gary Steven, Ellexson, 60, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004.
He was born May 17, 1943, to Rondal Franklin Ellexson and Ruth Hope Stevens in Huntington Beach, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one son, Gary Brian Ellexson; one daughter, Angela Ellexson; one sister, Sherry Ellexson; three grandchildren and one niece.
Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the Eastgate Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be at 3 p.m. Lane A, DFW National Cemetery
