Leoda Emma Nolte 1906-2002
Leoda Emma Nolte, 96, of Great Bend, died Aug. 16 at Integrated Health services of Great Bend. She was born June 6, 1906, at Barton County, the daughter of Arthur John and Katie Hammer Barrow. She married Otto Herman Nolte, Jan. 23, 1938, at Great Bend. He died Aug. 9, 2000. A lifetime resident of Great bend, she was a homemaker, and former cook for the Great Bend public schools. Mrs. Nolte was a member of First Christian Church, Friendship Sunday School Class, Silver and Gold Club, all of Great Bend, and the Dartmouth Club. Survivors include one son, Alvin K. Nolte of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Katherine Ruth Thompson of Newton; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Loren Lee Nolte; one brother, Elmer Lawrence Barrow; and one sister, Ethel T. Haak. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church building fund in care of the funeral home. Aug. 18, 2002

Lawrence E. Boy 1926-2002
Lawrence E. Boy, 76, of Great Bend, died Aug. 13 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born June 3, 1926, at Raymond, the son of Adolph Ottie and Nora Gordon Boy. He was a graduate of Raymond High School. He married Frances H. Hamby on Feb. 13, 1954, at Lyons. A lifetime resident of the Raymond and Great Bend communities, he was a farmer. Boy was a member of Bell Township Board for 32 years and was a former member of Sterling Bowling League. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Gary W. Boy of St. John and Brian E. Boy of Great Bend; two daughters, Carolyn S. Valenzuela and Anna M. Boy, both of Great Bend; one stepson Jimmy Hamby of Larned; one stepdaughter, Janet Hamby of San Angelo, Texas; one sister, Gladys Starr of Raymond; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel in Great Bend with Mike Yagel officiating. Burial will be at Hilltop cemetery in Raymond. Friends may call until 8 tonight at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association, both in care of the mortuary. Aug. 16, 2002

Clarence B. Vesecky 1915-2002
TIMKEN - Clarence B. Vesecky, 87, died Aug. 15 at Timken. He was born Aug. 3, 1915, in rural Timken, the son of Frank and Sophie Blazek Vesecky. He married Louise Josephine Pechanec on Sept. 1, 1936, at Timken. A lifetime resident of Timken, he was a farmer until his retirement. Vesecky was a member of Catholic Workman and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include one son, John Vesecky of Baldwin City; four daughters, Mary Boone of El Dorado, Rosalee Reitcheck of Hoisington, Margaret Klassen of Olathe and Lois Niemann of Nortonville; one sister, Sister Sophia Vesecky of Great Bend; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Vesecky; and two sisters. Vigil service and rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church in Timken with the Revs. Charles Mazouch and Ultan Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross cemetery in Timken. Friends may call from 2-7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the funeral home. Aug. 16, 2002

Aurelia Ann Hitschmann 1907-2002
Aurelia Ann Hitschmann, 95, died Aug. 14 at Integrated Health Services in Great Bend. She was born July 18, 1907, at Odin, the daughter of Alois F. and Hedwig T. Habiger Debes. She married Louis A. Hitschmann on Oct. 22, 1940. He died Dec. 19, 1953. She was a lifetime resident of the Great Bend area. Mrs. Hitschmann was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and St. Rose Altar Society, both of Great Bend. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Lytle of Great Bend; two brothers, Otto Debes of Ness City and Tony Debes of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Florentine Tina Bachand of Manhattan; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Albert Debes, the Rev. Leo Debes, Lawrence Debes, Joe Debes and Walter Debes; and four sisters, Sister Pia Debes, Sister Emanuel Debes, Eleanor Debes and Laura Reif. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Vigil service will be at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Revs. Angel Dy, Warren Stecklein and Ted Skalsky officiating. Burial will be at Holy Family cemetery in Odin. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Catholic Social Services, in care of the funeral home. Aug. 16, 2002

Edwin Emil Atzenhoffer Jr. 1921-2002
PULASKI TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Edwin Emil Atzenhoffer Jr., 80, died Aug. 3 at his residence in Pulaski Township. He was born Oct. 12, 1921, at Jackson, Mich. He was married to Myra for 43 years. She preceded him in death. A resident of Pulaski Township, he was a retired Conrail electrician. Atzenhoffer was a lifetime member and past commander of Concord-Pulaski American Legion Post 81, Disabled American Veterans William Sparks Chapter 10, the Consolidated War Veterans Council of Michigan and a lifetime member of the Jewish Veterans Post 529 of Southfield, Mich., and a longtime member of Temple Beth Israel in Jackson. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having retired as a major. He was stationed at the USAR Center in Great Bend from 1968-1972, and while in Great Bend he was a scout master, a member of the Lions Club, Sunflower Shrine Club and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3111. Survivors include two sons, Mark Atzenhoffer of Avon, Ohio, and Edwin S. Atzenhoffer of Orlando, Fla.; four daughters, Sharon Emfinger of Grants Pass, Ore., Janis Morris of Ypsilanti, Mich., Ellen Chestnut of Onaga and Beth Anker of Orlando; one brother, Phillip Atzenhoffer of Michigan Center, Mich.; two sisters, Virginia Miller and Marilyn Carroll, both of Michigan Center; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial service was held on Aug. 7 at Temple Beth Israel in Jackson. Cremation has taken place. Burial was at Ft. Custer National cemetery in Augusta, Mich., with military honors. Memorials are suggested to Temple Beth Israel or the veteran's cause of the donor's choice, in care of Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home in Michigan Center. Aug. 15, 2002

Duane 'Sandy' F. Hann 1933-2002
HANSTON - Duane "Sandy" F. Hann, 68, died Aug. 13 at his residence in Hanston. He was born Aug. 30, 1933, at Hanston, the son of John B. and Opal Salmans Hann. He married Maxine Bamberger on Aug. 9, 1953, at Ness City. A lifetime resident of Hanston, he was a custom harvester and farmer. Hann was a member of First Baptist Church of Hanston, was a church trustee and sponsored a child in Children International. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Tony Hann of Hanston and John T. Hann of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Ronda Blahut of Clinton, Mo., and Suzan Smith of Jetmore; his parents of Hanston; two sisters, Lee Webster of Tucson, Ariz., and Terry Shaw of Broomfield, Colo; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Smith. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Revs. Mitch Reece and Carl Vincent officiating. Burial will be at Hanston cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call until 8 tonight at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of St. Catherine of Garden City, in care of the funeral home. Aug. 15, 2002

Paula C. Graves 1907-2002
ST. JOHN - Paula C. Graves, 94, died Aug. 13 at Stafford District Hospital in Stafford. She was born Oct. 19, 1907, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Frank H. and Louie A. Cost. She was a 1925 graduate of Hutchinson High School, where she was class valedictorian and a member of National Honor Society. She was a 1930 graduate of the University of Kansas, with a degree in both English and journalism. She married Dr. Louis G. Graves on Aug. 19, 1930, at Hutchinson. He died April 17, 1970. A resident of St. John since 1939, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Graves was a member of First United Methodist Church, Martha Rebekah Lodge, both of St. John, and Gamma Phi Beta sorority at KU. Survivors include two sons, Louis G. Graves III of St. John and Jerome C. Graves of Barstow, Calif.; one sister, Carol Meyer of Hutchinson; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lucile Cost. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. Casey Crosby officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of the chapel. Aug. 15, 2002

Nicole June Wamsley 1976-2002
AURORA, Colo. - Nicole June Wamsley, 25, died Aug. 9, the result of a pedestrian accident in Aurora. She was born Nov. 8, 1976, at Wichita, the daughter of Bob and Sandra Burroughs Wamsley. She was a 1994 graduate of Aurora High School. A resident of Colorado since 1979, she was a courtesy clerk at Albertson's in Aurora. Wamsley was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Aurora. Survivors include her father and stepmother, Bob and Mary Wamsley of Conway Springs; her mother and stepfather, Sandra Wamsley and Dino D'Angelo of Aurora; one brother, Ryan Wamsley of Aurora; one sister, Jeniffer Tirrell of Aurora; one half brother, Rob Wamsley of Aurora; one half sister, Danielle Wamsley of Castle Rock, Colo.; one stepbrother, Bo May of Conway Springs; two stepsisters, Kelly May and Rose May, both of Conway Springs; her grandfather, Earl Burroughs of Denver, Colo.; and her grandmother, Marie Prilliman of Conway Springs. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Don Wamsley, and her grandmother, Betty Burroughs. A memorial service was held today at the church in Aurora. A second memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Baptist Youth Group of Aurora. Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood is in charge of local arrangements. Aug. 14, 2002

Nick LoBurgio 1923-2002
ELLINWOOD - Nick LoBurgio, 79, died Aug. 13 at Lyons District Hospital in Lyons. He was born Feb. 9, 1923, at Marion, Ill., the son of Joe and Jennie LaSusa LoBurgio. He married Betty J. Robl on Feb. 5, 1946, at Ellinwood. A resident of Ellinwood since 1946, coming from Marion, he was parts manager for Staab Motors and Gaughn Motors, former owner of Waxy's Cafe, former office manager of Ellinwood Welding, salesman for Casey's Office Supply and Mid Kansas Produce, both of Great Bend, and retired in 1978 after owning H&H IGA for 25 years. LoBurgio was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was a school basketball coach, recreation program baseball coach, served on the city council, hospital board and school board. He was also a high school football announcer for more than 40 years, was granted the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1981 and was the 2002 Parade Grand Marshal of Ellinwood After Harvest Festival. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served in World War II at the Great Bend Air Base. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Nicholas J. LoBurgio of Littleton, Colo., and Michael F. LoBurgio of Great Bend; three daughters, Trudy L. Fry of Beaumont, Texas, Jeanette Emerson of Great Bend and Susie Petz of Ellinwood; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a K of C rosary, both at the church. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may call from 5-8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood Public School Foundation, Ellinwood Area Health Care Foundation or to the church, all in care of the funeral home. Aug. 14, 2002

Crystal Dawn Harris Delgado 1986-2002
Crystal Dawn Harris Delgado, 16, of Great Bend, died Aug. 13 in Stafford County, near St. John. She was born Jan. 15, 1986, at Great Bend, the daughter of Aaron Delgado and Karen Harris. She was a student at Great Bend High School. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was employed as an interior decorator at Cornerstone Interiors Distinctive Draperies. Delgado was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Great Bend High School Drama Club. She was an Oakland Raider and Nebraska Cornhusker fan, an avid snow skier, had a love for animals and loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include her father and stepmother, Aaron and LeAnne Delgado of Great Bend; her mother and stepfather, Karen and Todd Milsap of Great Bend; two brothers, Jacob Delgado and Colton Delgado, both of the home; one sister, Janay Delgado of the home; her grandparents, Frank and Gwini Delgado, Thomas and Shirley Harris, LeRoy Saindon, Jane Saindon and Margaret Milsap, all of Great Bend; and two great-grandmothers, Alberta Delgado and Wilma Martin, both of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Carol Ann Delgado. Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Angel Dy officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. The life she lived was as pure and pristine as her name, Crystal Dawn. Rest in peace our beautiful child. Aug. 14, 2002

James H. Farmer 1909-2002
STAFFORD - James H. Farmer, 92, died Aug. 10 at Handmaker Hospice in Tucson, Ariz. He was born Sept. 21, 1909, in Colorado, the son of Fred and Eva G. Price Farmer. He was a graduate of Kansas State University, with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He married Mynette Coder on June 10, 1985, at Manhattan. A resident of several Arizona communities, he was a former chief executive officer of Brunner's Furniture in Oakland until his retirement. Farmer was a member of the KSU Alumni Association. Survivors include his wife. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Stafford Cemetery. Minnis Chapel in Stafford is in charge of arrangements. Aug. 14, 2002
