GARDEN CITY — Colleen May Mills, 76, died Feb. 29 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus in Wichita. She was born Sept. 15, 1927, at Ingalls, the daughter of Ray E. and Marietta M. Henderson Glaze. She married Calvin A. Mills Sept. 23, 1943, at Lakin. He died Oct. 14, 2001, at Garden City. A lifetime resident of Garden City, she worked for USD 457 food service of Garfield for more than 20 years, at Jennie Wilson and Victor Ornelas Elementary Schools.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren of Garden City.
Survivors include three sons, William E. and Diane Mills of Arvada, Colo., Ronald L. and Rita Mills of Friend and David L. and Mica Mills of Gastonia, N. C.; two daughters, Connie J. and Joe McMillen of Great Bend and Janell L. Mills of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one sister, Myrna Grimes of Garden City; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Martin Gauby officiating. Burial will be at Valley View cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to the church or St. Francis Burn Center, both in care of the funeral home.

Ena L. Nelson Rodie 1916-2004
LA CROSSE — Ena L. Nelson Rodie, 87, died March 1 at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. She was born July 13, 1916, in Pawnee County, the daughter of John Franklin and Effie Luella Ida May Conard Nelson. She was a 1936 graduate of La Crosse High School. She married Clifford E. Renner Nov. 26, 1936. He died May 10, 1967. She married Lloyd R. Rodie Jan. 2, 1973, at United Methodist Church in La Crosse. A lifelong resident of Pawnee, Barton and Rush counties, she was a homemaker and worked in retail, banking and medical offices before her retirement.
Mrs. Rodie was a member and active in United Methodist Church of La Crosse as well as a variety of business and community organizations.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Melvin R. Renner and wife Virgie of Rio Verde, Ariz., and Marvin L. Renner and wife Cindy of Firth, Neb.; two daughters, Sylvia J. Hawk and husband Richard of Leawood, and Sheila K. Wawrzaszek and husband Joseph of Wichita; one stepson, Gary Rodie and wife Sharon of Troupe, Texas; one brother, John Nelson of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Barbara Miller of Beloit; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glenn Nelson, Bert Nelson and Paul Nelson; and six sisters, Clio Parry, Faye McConnaughhy, Beulah Bailey, Mary Jane Brown, Ruby Eaton and Isis Walker.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Marilyn Christmore officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Beulah Bell Wallace 1909-2004
WINFIELD — Beulah Bell Wallace, 94, died March 1 at her home in Winfield. She was born April 27, 1909, in rural Nodaway, Mo., the daughter of Wayne Walter and Mary Lavian Bare Davidson. She graduated from Guilford High School in 1927. She married Merlin Earl Wallace Sept. 16, 1938, at Emporia. He died in May 1974. A resident of Winfield and formerly from Great Bend, she was a former treasury clerk for Barton County Courthouse.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of Great Bend United Methodist Church and Calvary Chapel of Arkansas City, and a former president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Kay Arnold of Winfield; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Davidson and Elvet Davidson; and one grandson, Joel Michael Arnold.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery of Great Bend. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family receiving guests from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Calvary Chapel of Arkansas City, all in care of the funeral home.

Kathryn Lucile Nichols 1922-2004
ST. JOHN — Kathryn Lucile Nichols, 81, died Feb. 28 at her residence in St. John. She was born March 8, 1922, at Robinson, Ill., the daughter of Roy and Alta Tipton. She married Ralph Nichols. He preceded her in death. A resident of St. John since 1960, she was a nurses aide.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge, both of St. John.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Richardson of Fowler, Colo., and Pat Gould of Hutchinson; one brother, Charles Tipton of Andover; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Tipton, Robert Tipton and Wilbur Tipton; and one sister, Clarice Tipton.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. Mike Irvin officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, care of the funeral home.

Evelyn Christine Harton 1921-2004
PITTSBURG — Evelyn Christine Harton, 82, died March 1 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 16, 1921, at Bache, Okla., the daughter of Harlan F. and Sallie Roden Brown. She was a 1939 graduate of Haileyville High School. She married Kenneth Ray Harton March 10, 1951, at McAlester, Okla. He died Dec. 8, 1999. A resident of Pittsburg, she was a homemaker most of her life and worked for Central Supply at Allen County Hospital and the Allen County Courthouse.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, Heart and Hand Extension Club, Informative Study Club, AARP No. 2814 and Democratic Women.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Earl Harton of Great Bend; four daughters, Billie Sue Brown of Overland Park, Rita Garnett of Oklahoma City, Okla., Amber Spencer and Sherri Beckman, both of Pittsburg; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elton Brown, Charles Brown and Fred Brown.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brenner Mortuary Inc. in Pittsburg with the Rev. Thomas Sims officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to SEK Humane Society or the Kathleen Sebelius Committee, both in care of the funeral home.

Gilbert J. Sander 1927-2004
Gilbert J. Sander, 76, of Great Bend, died Feb. 26 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Nov. 19, 1927, the son of Joseph J. and Adeline Meis Sander. As a young boy, his mother taught him to polka and he loved both dancing the polka and polka music. He married Joyce M. Burkhart June 25, 1947, in Hays. She died Nov. 27, 1990. He married Crystal Lietner Taylor May 12, 1995, in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 1968, coming from Hoisington, he was an oil field pumper for Lasmo Energy of Great Bend.
Sander was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a lifetime member of Great Bend American Legion and Eagles Lodge and a lifetime member of Hoisington Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobby was cooking German food and fishing. He served as a seaman in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife of the home; six daughters, Sharon M. Fox of St. Louis, Mo., Becky S. Wornkey and Shirley A. Tomlin, both of Great Bend, Debbie K. Shank of Hays, Patty L. Michael of Otis and Connie J. Sander of Denver, Colo.; one daughter-in-law, Marcia K. Sander of Irving, Texas; two stepsons, Larry Taylor of Lenora and Tracy Taylor of Kansas City; two brothers, Wilmer Sander of Great Bend and Frank Sander of Jacksonville, Ark.; two sisters, Arla Johnson of Lewisberg, W.Va., and Wanita “Sandy” Basgall of Great Bend; 13 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Jim Sander; two brothers, Melvin and Alvin Sander; two sisters, Leona Vonfeldt and Cecelia Dreiling; and one grandson, Darren Wornkey.
Funeral Mass was Monday at the church, with the Revs. Ted Stoecklein and Dermot Tighe officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hoisington VFW, in care of the Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend.

WICHITA — Herman W. VanArsdale, 79, of Wichita, died Feb. 28 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Wichita. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Geneseo Cemetery. Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce A. Loreg 1936-2004
Joyce A. Loreg, 67, of Great Bend, died Feb. 26 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born Oct. 13, 1936, at Zurich, the daughter of William and Victoria DesMarteau Benoit. She married Melvin D. Loreg Nov. 26, 1955, at Phillipsburg. A resident of Great Bend, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Loreg was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Clifford L. Loreg of Great Bend and Melvin “Junior” Loreg of Wichita; one daughter, Jeanette Sanders of Great Bend; one sister, Edna Bedard of Thornton, Colo.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Benoit and Henry Benoit; and one sister, Shirley Miller.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Ted Stoecklein officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend.

Jeanette K. Haak 1933-2004
DENVER, Colo. — Jeanette K. Haak, 70, passed away Feb. 29 at Denver. She was born Oct. 15, 1933, at Ellinwood, the daughter of Joe and Kathryn Jenisch. She was a homemaker, telephone operator and bookkeeper. Her hobbies included sewing, word puzzles and traveling. She was a resident of Ellinwood and Great Bend prior to moving to Denver in 1968. She married Clarence Haak on May 1, 1954, in Ellinwood. He survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Luetta Jenisch of Great Bend; two brothers, Dan Jenisch of Billings, Mo., and Richard Jenisch of Sublette; and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wally Jenisch.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, 2255 S. Oneida, Denver, Colo. 80224-2590.

Isidore ‘Issie’ John Rohr 1916-2004
GARFIELD — Isidore “Issie” John Rohr, 88, died March 1 at St. Joseph Memorial Long Term Care, Larned. He was born Jan. 15, 1916, in Munjor, the son of John P. and Anna Marie Riedel Rohr. He married Volda Pelzel in 1938 in Hays. He married Clarabel Irion Price May 29, 1989. A resident of rural Garfield, he worked in the body shop and ran the tow truck for the Chevrolet garage for more than 40 years, and was an appraiser for Federated Insurance Company until his retirement in 1988.
Rohr was a life member of St. Francis of Assisi Church of Munjor and past president of Eagles Lodge of Hays.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Steven Rohr of St. Charles, Mo.; one daughter, Janice Berkley of Snoqualmie, Wash.; two stepsons, Kenneth Price of Garfield and Lester Lee Price of Shanghai, China; three stepdaughters, Kay Roberts of Bellevue, Neb., Carole Tudor of Afton, Okla., and Kathy Spillman of Miami, Okla.; three brothers, Alex Rohr of San Diego, Calif., Eugene Rohr and Julius Rohr, both of Hays; one sister, Marcella Ruder of Prairie Village; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ignatius Rohr; and two sisters, Bernitia Engle and Abina Befort.
A celebration of life service will be at 7 p.m. today at Morell Funeral Home of Larned, with the Revs. Dennis Reed and Ken Walker officiating. Vigil will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Brock’s North Hill Chapel in Hays. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Myra Catholic Church of Hays, with the Rev. William J. Surmeier officiating. Burial will be at St. Francis cemetery in Munjor. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at Morell Funeral Home of Larned and from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brock’s North Hill Chapel in Hays. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Memorial Long Term Care in Larned, American Lung Association or for Masses, all in care of the funeral homes.
