Mattie Lee Davis Moore
Mattie Lee Davis Moore, 71, of Louisa, died Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital in London, Ky. She was born Aug. 7, 1938. Her husband, Richard Moore, survives.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa. Burial will be in Ledocia Short cemetery in Mattie.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel.
Christopher Branham
1984-2009
Christopher David Branham, 25, passed away Dec. 5 in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., after a five-year battle with leukemia. He was born Sept. 20, 1984, in Ashland.
Surviving are his mother, Kimberly Scott Branham of Clarksville, Tenn.; his father and stepmother, John and Karen Branham of Louisa; a sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Ronnie; two nephews, Kaden and Chad Howerton of Clarksville; a brother, Johnathan (Scotty) Branham; a stepsister, Jessicah; a brother-in-law, J.R.; a nephew, Gavin Wells of Louisa; his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Pauley of Louisa; uncles Bobby, Jim, David, Mac and Carlos Branham; an aunt, Brenda Pack; maternal “Pap,” Kenneth Scott of Wurtland; aunt and uncle Vicki and Mark Yeager; uncle and aunt Kenneth and Melonie Scott of Greenup County; and many cousins and great-uncles and great-aunts, all who will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his “nan,” Joan Cumpton Scott.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church on Bellefonte Road in Raceland by the Rev. Anthony Keeton.
Family and friends are welcome to attend.
James M. Jones
1929-2009
BLUEFIELD — James M. Jones, 80, of 203 Crabapple Lane, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital. Born on August 10, 1929 in Decota, W.Va., he was the son of John E. and Opal E. Miller Jones who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, stationed in the Far East for two years during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the America Legion, Bramwell Masonic Lodge # 85, Bluefield Shrine Club and Scottish Rite. He was retired from Beneficial Finance Company. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Jones.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Julia Bartman Jones of the home; son, Matt Jones and wife Tammy and their children Mason and Sarah of Morristown, Tenn.; daughter, Deborah Gilpin and husband Lynn of Uniontown, Pa.; grandson, Adam Gilpin and wife Holly and son Ryan Cole of Cambridge, Md.; granddaughter, Amanda Davis and husband Mark of Bluefield; sister, Mary Ellen Fitzpatrick and husband Jim of Lancaster, Ohio; brothers, John E. Jones and wife Nina of Sweetwater, Tenn., Ulysses C. Jones and wife Opal of Huntsville, Ala.A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Rev. Stephen Rector officiating the service. Jack Cordle, 80, of Louisa, died Tuesday in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
He was born May 21, 1929, in Van Lear.
His wife, Vivian Bailey Cordle, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Bailey cemetery at Grahn.
Della Hargis

Della Mae Hargis, 74, of Louisa, died Sunday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Nov. 13, 1935, in Clifford.
Her husband, Lynn Hargis, preceded her in death.
There will be no funeral or visitation.

James Mullen

James Scott Mullen, 50, of Winchester, died Dec. 18 in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
He was born April 21, 1959.
His wife, Susan Birch Mullen, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in Brown cemetery.

Ray Litteral, 63, of Louisa, died Monday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 2, 1946, in Riceville.
His wife, Lana Moore Litteral, survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa. Burial will be in Litteral cemetery in Louisa.

Linda Mitchell Taylor
1944-2009
Linda Mitchell Taylor, 65, of Louisa, went to be her Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at her home.Linda was born Nov. 3, 1944, in Louisa, Ky., the daughter of the late Woodrow Cecil and Mary Ethel Preston Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a brother, Charles (Banty) Mitchell. She was a customer service representative and member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Bennie Taylor of Louisa; a daughter, Angela Adams, also of Louisa; a son, Harry Morris (Sam) Akers of Medway, Ohio; a sister, Dorcas Fannin of Ashland, Ky.; a brother, Woodrow Cecil Mitchell Jr., also of Ashland; six grandchildren, Danielle Steele, Eden Steele, Brittany Akers, Cheyenna Steele, Erica Kylee Akers and Michael Adams; and two great-grandchildren, Rayaunna Steele and Aubryaunna Steele.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa by Brother Jim Farley, Brother Jim Crum and Brother Doug Kelly. Burial will follow in Mitchell cemetery on Route 581 in Louisa.

Dewitt Diamond
1928-2009
Dewitt Talmadge Diamond, 81, of Louisa died Saturday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, following an extended illness. He was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Green Valley, the son of the late Dewitt and Frances Marie Rice Diamond. He was the husband of Barbara Ann Riffe Diamond, who survives. He was a retired Ironworker with Local 769 and he was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Bobbi McCoy and Diane Whitt, both of Louisa, Sharon Cunningham of Wheelersburg, Mary McCalev of Gallipolis, Ohio; seven sons, Michael D. Diamond of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Kenneth David Diamond of Pedro, Ohio, Danny Joe Diamond of Ashland, Terry Lee Diamond of Point Pleasant, Paul Franklin Diamond of Nicholasville, Samuel Lynn Diamond of Louisa and Shannon Ray Diamond of Louisa; one sister, Dorothy Jordan of Westwood; 30 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Diamond cemetery on Big Catt Fork Road, with the Rev. Jim Osborne officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Patrick Fitchpatrick, 85, of Louisa, died Monday in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Louisa.
His wife, Betsey Fitchpatrick, survives.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Louisa Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fitchpatrick cemetery in Louisa.
