Lydia "Lottie Hudnall" Loyd

Oct. 1, 1920 - Feb. 21, 2004

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Lydia "Lottie Hudnall" Loyd, 83, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.

Burial will be in Consuerella cemetery in Waterproof, LA under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Loyd was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Ferriday, the daughter of William and Lena Brooks Hudnall.

She was a homemaker.

Ms. Loyd was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Louis and James Hudnall.

Survivors include one daughter, Kim (Joe) King of Ferriday; two sons, Thomas Hudnall (Debra) of Miami, FL and Charles Hudnall of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, George Hudnall of Ferriday; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Arthur James "A.J." Gardner

Feb. 26, 1922 - Feb. 23, 2004

VIDALIA, LA - Services for Arthur James "A.J." Gardner, who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Vidalia.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mr. Gardner was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Richland Parish near Rayville, the son of Shelly Israel and Myrtle Pardue Gardner.

He worked at International Paper Company for 46 years and retired in 1985. He was elected to the Vidalia Board of Alderman from 1960 through 1968. He served as Mayor Pro Tem from 1964 to 1968 during Sidney Murray's administration. He was a member of the Louisiana Municipal Association from 1960-68. He served on the Industrial Development Board from 1960 to 1968. He was an active member of the Vidalia Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was an active deacon at First Baptist Church in Vidalia for many years. He was chairman of the Multi-purpose building and other committees throughout his life. He coached Little League Baseball in the 1960's. He was an avid sportsman and especially loved to fish.

He served as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Phillipines during World War II and was honorably discharged in February 1946.

Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Earl, all of Bastrop, LA.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Bowerman Gardner; his son and wife, Ronny and JoAnn Gardner of Vidalia; one daughter, Linda Jaynell Gardner of Baton Rouge, LA; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Guy Sanford of Moselle and Bridget & Leigh King of Baton Rouge; three great-granddaughters include JoAnna Denise Sanford, Cameron Michelle Sanford of Moselle and Morgan Nicole King of Baton Rouge; one sister, Marguerite Oliver of Bastrop; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be T. E. Brasher, Shane McDaniel, Greg Randall, Rudy Rodriguez, Clare Shields, Bill Walden and Reggie Walker.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Craft, Bill Dennis, Travis Gore, Dan Greenlee, James Jones, Leigh King, Charles Lane, J. W. Randall, Percy L. Rountree, Guy Sanford and Hershel Walker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Vidalia or the American Cancer Society.

Ralph Thomas Thornhill Sr.

Jan. 26, 1929 - Feb. 24, 2004

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Ralph Thomas Thornhill Sr., 75, of Natchez, formerly of Sicily Island, LA, who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel of Ferriday with the Rev. John Collard officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thornhill was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Wisner, LA, the son of Alan Arthur and Georgia Lee Brown Thornhill.

He was a resident of Natchez for 7 years and a former resident of Sicily Island. He was a retired farmer and a Christian.

Mr. Thornhill was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Susie Bell Davis and Christine Matthews; two brothers, Roger Thornhill and Jerry Thornhill; and a grandson, Christopher Halford.

Survivors in three sons, Ralph "Pete" Thornhill of Monterey, LA, Ricky Thornhill of Dunbarton, LA and Alan Thornhill of Olla, LA; three daughters, Sandra Marshall of Arcadia, LA, Connie Reid of Ruston, LA and Kathy Ellis of Natchez; five brothers, Roy "Buddy" Thornhill of Wisner, LA, Bruce Thornhill, Donald Thornhill, Steve Thornhill and Raymond Thornhill, all of Clayton, LA; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Ellis, Mickey Ellis, David Ellis, Tony Thornhill, Ricky Reid and Frankie Smith.

Honorary pallbearer will be Clifford Halford.

ST. JOSEPH, LA - Services for Mr. Lora Wayne Penton, 79, of St. Joseph, who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Tensas Care & Rehabilitation in Newellton, LA, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Baptist Church with Dr. Kelly Barnett officiating.

Burial will be in Legion Memorial cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Jerry Pat McNeely Sr.

Oct. 19, 1938 - Feb. 23, 2004

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Jerry Pat McNeely Sr., who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria, LA, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Wayne Gray and the Rev. Randy Coleman officiating.

Graveside servcies will be at Lismore Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mr. McNeely was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Lismore, LA, the son of Fount McNeely and Mary Harp McNeely.

He was a native and life-long resident of Concordia Parish. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ferriday. He spent his life working in the Petroleum industry, was a self-employed consultant since the 70's, which he thoroughly enjoyed and was a worker in the Little League Baseball program for many years enjoying the youth. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

His parents, one brother, James Fount McNeely and one sister, Maurice Willson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hester McNeely; one daughter, Jana McNeely Lincecum and husband, Charles of Ferriday; one son, Jerry Pat McNeely Jr. of Lumberton; one grandson, Aaron Lincecum of Ferriday; one brother, Bobby Ray McNeely of Natchez; one sister, LaVerne M. Moore; and one uncle, Oscar Kyler McNeely, both of Ferriday.

Pallbearers will be Seth Moore, Mark Moore, Danny Merrill, Wayne Miley, J.L. Barker, Mark Zimmerman, Ray Routon Jr., Ricky Raven and Rickie Blunschi.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Odenwald and the men of the Adult Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Ferriday, Glenn Gremillion, Randy Maxwell, Charles Campbell and Marvin Van Allen.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Ferriday, Huntington School or the charity of one's choice.

W.B. Spinks Sr.

JONESVILLE, LA - Services for W. B. Spinks Sr., 90, of Jonesville, who died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Columns Nursing Home Jonesville, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jonesville with the Rev. James Busby and the Rev. Don Blackmon officiating.

Burial will be in Heard cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.

He was a retired farmer and former owner of Sandy Lake grocery. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over fifty years.

Edna Mae Posey Roberts

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Edna Mae Posey Roberts, 66, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood, OH, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Allen Stephens and the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

She was a resident of Ferriday, an image consultant for Beauti-Control Cosmetics, a member of Franklin Piecemakers Quilting Club, Ridgecrest Baptist Church Love Circle and a long time member of the First Baptist Church Ferriday. She worked with the Concordia Electric Co-op for 42 years.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Dixie Lamar Roberts and parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Willard Posey.

Survivors include sons, Wayne and Ramona Roberts of Alexandria, LA and Tracy and Christine Roberts of Natchez; step-daughter, Angelia and Joe Stringfellow of Shreveport, LA; sister, Mary Lou Frisby of Jonesboro-Hodge, LA; brothers, John Willard Posey of Sicily Island, LA and Aubrey Lee Posey of Franklinton, LA; and five grandchildren, Mia F. Roberts, Adam B. Roberts, Katherine Junkin, Phillip M. Roberts and Evan M. Roberts.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Ferriday, LA or American Heart Association.

William Brown, Jr.

May 5, 1918 - Feb. 12, 2004

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for William Brown, Jr., 85, of Norcross, Ga. formerly of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at VA Hospital in Decatur, GA, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Concordia Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown was born May 5, 1918, in Sicily Island, LA, the son of William and Lees Walker Brown.

He was a retired brick layer, served in the US Army during WWII and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Brown and one son, Terry Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Brown and wife, Miriam of Norcross, GA and William Brown, III and wife, Betty of Harvey, LA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Aaron Williams of Natchez and Sam Williams of Jonesville, LA; four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Davis and Jeanette Williams, both of Ferriday, Louisa Avery of Houston, TX and Rosa Redd of Greenville, SC.

Otis Smith

Funeral arrangements for Otis Smith, 71, of Vidalia, LA, who died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

William "Billy" Eugene Tiffee

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for William "Billy" Eugene Tiffee, 72, of Clayton, LA, who died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel Ferriday with the Rev. Gordon Finley and the Rev. Jon McKim officiating.

Burial will be in New Pine Hill cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Doyle Harris

April 22, 1913 -- April 9, 2004

FERRIDAY -- Services for Doyle Harris, 90, who died Friday, April 9, at his Vidalia residence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ferriday Church of God with the Rev. Larry Parker, Rev. Paul Burress and Rev. Dick Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Providence Memorial cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the church.

Mr. Harris was born on April 22, 1913 in Amity, Ark., the son of L.B. and Nada G. Harris.

He was a resident of Vidalia for over 35 years and a truck driver for the city of Vidalia. He was a member of the Ferriday Church of God.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Harris; three brothers, Harlous Harris, Leon Floyd and John Floyd; a sister, Delia Floyd and two infant sons.

Survivors include seven daughters, Jeanett West and Violet Huff of Crowville, La., Betty Thompson of Kingston, Helen Parker of Columbia, La., Glenda Harris and Patricia Thornton of Vidalia and Sharon Wyant Thornton of Lithia Springs, Ga.; one brother, Jack White of Shreveport, La., 15 grandchildren, 32 great- grandchildren and six great-great- grandchildren and two sisters, Leola Bean of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Lottie Gardner of Amity, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Mike West, Will West, Paul Thompson, Roger Ward, Mike Ford, Kenny Finley and Greg Wyant.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Moreno and James Steele.

FERRIDAY -- Services for Robert "Beedie" Johnson, 77, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, are incomplete at Concordia Funeral Home.
