A veteran of the U.S. Army, he passed away at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 54 and a native and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Southside Funeral Home, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Religious service at Greater St. James Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, conducted by Rev. W. M. Finister. Interment in Port Hudson National cemetery. He is survived by his father, Richard Williams Jr.; four daughters, Eltisia Lavigne, LaQuinta Valentine, Danitra Scott, and Krystal Williams; a son, Lawrence Williams Jr.; two sisters, Margie Sheppard and Rose Gooden; a brother, Richard Williams III; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents and sister.

ZELLER, SR. GERALD
Gerald Zeller Sr., age 70 years, born June 22, 1933, died on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at his residence. He was a native and resident of Lutcher. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Co. with 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a third degree member of Knights of Columbus and a member of and longtime cook of Lutcher High School Quarterback Club. Survived by his wife, Marie Pitarro Zeller; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald Jr. and Jackie, Terry and Christine and Karl and Happy; a daughter, Donna Veron; and eight grandchildren, Carrie, Kayla, Kylie, Ryan, Alexandra, Emily, Kelsie and Claire. Survived by brothers, Elliott and Ferrell; and sisters, Alice Thomassie, Ann White and Mary Louise Dempsey. preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence Pollet Zeller; and brothers, William, Pollet and Gilbert Zeller. Visitation at Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, and 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina. Entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

ACHORD, JR. THOMAS EARL "TOMMY"
A former welder and pipe fitter for Specialty Lighting and a resident of Gonzales, he died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 42 and a U.S. Marine Corps peace-time veteran. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Visiting at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Joel LaBauve. Interment in Hope Haven cemetery, Gonzales. Survived by his parents, Thomas Earl Sr. and Glory Lambert Achord, Gonzales; a sister and brother-in-law, Pamela Achord Moran and Danny Moran, Gonzales; a brother and a sister-in-law, Chris and Hope Achord, Gonzales; three nephews, Casey and Quentin Moran and Noah Achord; and two nieces, Amanda Moran and his godchild, Gabrielle Achord. preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clyde and Clemence Achord; and maternal grandparents, Rene and Agnes Lambert. He was a 1979 graduate of East Ascension High School.

BAILEY, JR. ISAIAH "CHUB"
An employee of S&M; Asphalt Co. and a resident of Port Allen, he died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Port Allen. He was 37 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at St. John Baptist Church, 4241 Mulatto Bend Road, Port Allen, from 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, until service at 1 p.m., conducted by Elder Oscar Gordon. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by his wife, Tammy Washington Bailey; parents, Estella and Isaiah Bailey Sr.; nine children, Isaiah III, Kim, Ashley, Tamara, Mykael, Frederick, Michael, D'Andre and Christopher; a sister, Tracey Bailey; two brothers, Ronald and Anthony; and grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. BOLES, MARIE CALZAVARA
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home. She was 83 and born in Libertyville, Ill. Visiting at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Tim LaCoste. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by her four sisters, Florence and husband Carlo Zarlette of Kenosha, Wis., Poppy Jerdee of Winterhaven, Wis., Lou Williams of Fairview, N.C., and Ellie Sage of Libertyville; a brother and sister-in-law, Rudy and Gene Calzavara of Lebanon, Mo.; 10 nieces, five nephews, eight grandnieces, five grandnephews, three great-grandnieces and a great-grandnephew. preceded in death by her husband, John W. Boles; parents, Frank and Cesira Calzavara; and four brothers, Medo, Frank Jr., Oscar and Rudolphao Calzavara. The family of Marie Boles wants to give special thanks to her nephew, Leonard Foreman, niece and nurse, Lisa Wagster, and sister-in-law, Kitty Ashford, for all their caring during Marie's illness. Also, special thanks to Donna and Richard Elgin for all their loving care.

BROWN, JR. ISIAH "EYES"
A laborer and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Baton Rouge. He was 34 and a native of Port Allen. Visiting at Hall's Mortuary, Port Allen, from 10 a.m. Saturday until religious service at noon, conducted by Superintendent Elmo Sholes. Interment in Ladies of Knight cemetery. Survived by his wife, Dietra P. Brown, Baton Rouge; father and stepmother, Isiah Brown Sr. and Estelle Brown, Baton Rouge; grandmother, Velma Porter, Port Allen; a daughter, Teih LeBan, Houston; a godchild, Hendreka Stovall, Baton Rouge; three sisters, Stephanie and husband Terry Phillips, Port Allen, and Brianna Brown and Pamela Prater, both of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Melvin Brown and companion Deedra Jackson, and Little Isiah Brown and wife Debra, all of Baton Rouge. preceded in death by his mother, Helen Porter Brown.

BROWN, NETTIE M.
Died on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at home. She was a native of Lorman, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. After graduating from St. Mary of the Pines, Chatawa, Miss., she spent 30 years of loving service in the teaching profession as a School Sister of Notre Dame. After leaving the teaching order in 1968, Nettie taught in East Baton Rouge Parish public schools at Istrouma Middle and Southeast Middle. She retired from the public schools in 1984. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Saturday, August 2, 2003, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Brown; three brothers, Joe, Walter and J.D.; and two sisters, Katherine Brown Cockerham and Sara Brown Dent. She is survived by a brother, Wilton Brown, Pattison, Miss., and nieces and nephews in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, Baton Rouge Area Retired Teachers Association and AARP. She earned a bachelor of arts degree at Quincy University, Quincy, Ill., and a master of arts degree at Arkansas State University. Pallbearers will be Claude L. Cockerham III, Burnie Brown, Ray Brown, Charles Segrest and Brad Segrest. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the School Sisters of Notre Dame, P.O. Box 38, Chatawa, MS 39632.

BUGGAGE, SR. WILFRED JOSEPH "CHIEF"
He was an assistant warden with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, where he served honorably until his health required him to take a leave of absence. He died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Prevost Memorial Hospital, Donaldsonville. He was 63 and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville. Visiting at Demby & Son Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003. Visiting at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 421 St. Patrick St., Donaldsonville, from 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, until recitation of the rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. George Burden. Interment in St. Phillip Baptist Church cemetery, Modeste. He leaves to cherish his memory his dedicated wife, helpmate and friend, Yvonne Stewart Buggage; two sons, Glenn Stewart and friend Joyce Green of Donaldsonville, and Wilfred Buggage Jr. and wife Michelle of St. Louis; two daughters, Angela Steib and friend Willie Picou of Donaldsonville, and Cynthia Buggage of Houston and Washington, D.C.; a sister, Shelia Davis of Donaldsonville; father-in-law, John Johnson; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Breaux and Jules Buggage Sr.; his mother-in-law, Mahalia Bryant Johnson; father-in-law, Eliott Stewart Sr.; a brother, Jules Buggage Jr.; and a sister, Cheryl Buggage Ester. Wilfred trailblazed in many areas in the Donaldsonville and Ascension Parish political arena. He had the uncanny ability to bring communities together for a common cause. As his life was very full, his legacy will be most fulfilling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wilfred Buggage Scholarship Fund, 1021 Nolan Ave., Donaldsonville, LA 70346.

BUQUOI, MICHEL EMILE
A retired machinist and retired taxidermist and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 83 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Air Force sergeant and was awarded the Legion of Merit Service Award during World War II. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. until service at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, conducted by the Rev. Ken Spivey. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Sibyl Fulton Buquoi; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert David and Robyn Buquoi and Richard Michel and Gail Buquoi; two sisters, Amy Ward and Bertha Hite; a brother, Gerald Buquoi; and five grandchildren. preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Nancy Jean Buquoi Adleman. He was a longtime member of the Baton Rouge Orchid Society. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity or the American Heart Association.

CALANDRO, VICTOR O.
A retired county agent with the LSU Agricultural Cooperative Extension Service, he died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Meadow Crest Hospital, New Orleans. He was 90 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Joey Angeles. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jessie Smith Calandro; a son, Victor Michael Calandro and wife Beverly Williams Calandro of New Orleans; three sisters, Catherine Hoffman, Florida, Rosalie Crawford, Jacksonville, Fla., and Camille Spitale, Franklin, Tenn.; and three brothers, Samuel, Baton Rouge, Frank L., Houma, and Joseph D., Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Caterina Orlando and Santo Calandro; two brothers, B.J. and A.J., who were of Baton Rouge; and a sister, Mary Calandro Inzenga, who was of Baton Rouge. He was a teacher at Buras High School in Buras, and in Donaldsonville. He was an assistant county agent in New Roads, Pointe Coupee Parish. In 1949, after completing his master's degree at LSU, he was assigned as county agent for St. John the Baptist Parish and resided in Reserve. Upon retiring in 1973, he moved to Baton Rouge where he resided until his death. During his retirement he spent most of his time between family and his church, St. George Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George Catholic Church.
