Shirley Steward Gilmer

Shirley Sue Steward Gilmer, 63, of Zwolle, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at her home. Shirley was born to Bill and Peggy Steward on August 23, 1951 in DeRidder. She was raised in Beaumont, TX and graduated as Salutatorian from French High School in May 1969 and from Lamar University with a B.A. in Mathematics with Teacher Certification in June 1973. She married
Pete Geisen in 1977 and had one daughter. Sadly, Pete was killed in an automobile accident in 1979. In 1985, Shirley met Jerry Gilmer and they were married
in September, 1986 and they had one son.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Gilmer; daughter, Amy Dyson (Jimmy); and son, Ethan Gilmer, both of DeRidder, LA; stepdaughters, Julie Vining (Glen) of LaPorte, TX, and Jennifer McAnaly of Zwolle, LA; beloved grandchildren, Jacob Osborn, Phillip and Ana Williams, Haleigh Dyson, Colby Rowe, Jordan McAnally and fiance’, Cooper Miller, Hunter and Peyton McAnally, James, Bailey, Abbie, Valiree, and Lorelai Vining; sisters, Peggy McCabe of Madison, WI, and Cathy Murphy (George) of Beaumont, TX; brothers, Bill Steward, Jr. (Betty) of Nome, TX, and Gary Steward (Janet) of Jennings, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Peggy Steward; former husband, Peter Leo Geisen III; son, Joshua Travis Gilmer; and granddaughter, Kylee Rose Dyson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service is Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11:00am at Unity Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Newlin cemetery in Singer, LA. Bro. Girard Forrest Bordine, 70, of Evans, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his home. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dolores (Dolly) Bordine of Evans, LA; son, William O’Neal Bordine and wife Charlotte of Grant, LA, daughter, Robin Ann Memminger and husband Demond of Hammond, LA; brother, James Elliott of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Gloria Hayes and husband Johnny of Keithville, LA, Becky Saucier and husband Steve of Ocala, FL, Linley Bordine-Houseman and husband Wayne of Battle Creek, and Shane Bordine Albert MI; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dulcie Elliott, and father, Jack Forrest Bordine.

Susie Low, 67, of Bon Wier, TX, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Beaumont, TX. Susie liked sewing clothes for her kids and grandkids and loved visiting her family. Family was everything to her. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don Low of Bon Wier, TX; sons, Keith Higginbotham of Bon Weir, TX, Markous Purdy and wife Sara of Durham, NC, and Tristan Harrington of Bon Wier, TX; daughters, Wanda Snyder and husband Junior of Pocahontas, AR, and Maranda Purdy of DeRidder, LA; brother, Tommy Joe Foraker of Longville, LA; sisters, Rosemary Foraker of Lincoln, NB, Betty Henson, Kathy Foraker, Retta Woodard, Tina Foraker and Joyce Foraker all of DeRidder, LA, Florence Barber of Longville, LA, and Minnie Foraker of DeRidder, LA; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Blanche Bryan
December 22, 1924 - March 17, 2015
Blanche Marie Bryan, 90, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Mrs. Bryan was born on December 22, 1924 in Florien, LA and lived most of her life in DeRidder. She was a faithful member of Westview Baptist Church. She enjoyed many activities in her life including playing cards, bingo and dominos with various women’s groups, the Council on Aging and with Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Inc. Mrs. Bryan, known as Gunga to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, adored her family and enjoyed spending quality with them.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Hank Bryan of Repton, AL, and Boyd Bryan of DeRidder; grandchildren, Paul Bryan (Celeste), and Karl Bryan (Alison) all from Lake Charles, LA and Russell Bryan (Claudia) from Dothan, AL; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Gabrielle, Haley, Kimberly, Chasidy, Will and Russ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Bryan, and a son, William R. Bryan.
Visitation will begin at 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. A Private Burial for family will be at Cooper Memorial cemetery. Pastor Kari Ifland Will officiate.

Lela Perkins, 80, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Those left to cherish her memory are her daugher, Donna McConathy and husband Seth J. Jonathan “Brady” Pennington, 31, of Deridder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in Houston, TX.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 9 years, Peggy Pennington, his 6 year old son, Preston Alexander Pennington and his 3 year old son, Parson Grant Pennington all of Deridder, LA; parents, Kenneth and Carma Pennington of Burr Ferry, LA; brother, Brett Pennington and wife Kelli of Burr Ferry, LA; sister, Shaunda Mitchell her husband Kade and daughters, Kami, Kyli, and Kadi of Leesville, LA. Grandmother, Von Savell of Kirbyville, TX; brother-in-law, James Jeane of Lake Charles, LA; mother-in-law, Liz Terry and husband Stacey; father-in-law, Jerry Jeane and wife Debbie, grandmother-in-law, Peggy Jeane all of Leesville, LA; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thurman Fee; grandfather, Leo Pennington; grandmother, Vada Chance, and uncle, Jerry Pennington.
Brady was a family man who loved his wife and two sons dearly. He valued time spent with all of his family. He was a good friend to many. He was a 2009 Graduate of McNeese State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a maintenance engineering supervisor at Packaging Corporation of America in Deridder, La. He was also a master cabinet builder and finish carpenter. He took great pride in all of his endeavors. He was an honest man who believed in hard work. He was a great example to us and he will be missed by many.
