Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.Mr. Chandler was born November 9, 1940 in Winnfield, LA to Christopher C. and Elizabeth Vaughan Chandler and passed away Thursday, September 01, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. He was a very talented artist and musician and owned ABC Studio in Springhill for 20 years.He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joan Chandler of Springhill, LA; son Reggie Barker; daughters, Debbie Conerly and husband, Billy and Pixie Barker; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Mary J. Linda Sue Raborn Morgan
(March 5, 1941 - August 16, 2011)

Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Sue Raborn Morgan, age 70, will be held Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church, Haynesville, LA with Bro. Ben Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Old Town Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.

Mrs. Morgan was born March 5, 1941 to Aaron and Margaret Raborn in Lillie, LA and passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in Springhill, LA. She was raised in Springhill, LA. where she graduated from Springhill High School in 1959 and also graduated from Ayers Business School in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Morgan grew up in Calvary Baptist Church in Cullen, LA and was a member of First Baptist Church in Haynesville. She attended many church youth trips through the years with her children. For many years, she had a home daycare, she loved children and played the piano at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Haynesville, LA. Camping was the activity she and her husband, Gerald, enjoyed the most.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald Morgan, Jr. of Haynesville, LA; one son, Keith Morgan of Haynesville, LA; two daughters, LeAnn and Gary Miller of New Boston, TX, Jan Pickett and husband, John of Walker Creek, AR; one brother, Bennie Raborn and wife, Laura; nephew, Clay Raborn and wife, Tina; great nieces, Lauren and Erin Raborn, all of Springhill, LA; seven grandchildren that called her Grandmom, Christy Morgan of Baton Rouge, LA, Jason Morgan of Haynesville, LA, Morgan and Ty Miller of New Boston, TX; J.W. Pickett of Virginia Beach, VA, Jody and Jared Pickett of Walker Creek, AR and many other special relatives and friends.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents and a special nephew, Aaron Raborn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fountain View Nursing Home in Springhill, LA and the staff at Springhill Medical Center for the great care they gave to Mrs. Morgan.

The family also request that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Hospital.

Hubert Allen Bryan
(January 21, 1921 - August 22, 2011)

Funeral services for Mr. Hubert Allen Bryan, age 90, will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, LA with Bro. Todd Pickard and Bro. Joseph Stacks officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Walker Creek, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Bryan was born January 21, 1921 in Bussey, AR to Henry Anderson and Mary Josephine Rose Bryan and passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 in Taylor, AR. He was a lifelong resident of this area, was of the Baptist faith, member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and a US Army WW II POW. Mr. Bryan was also the owner of a service station, store owner, farmer, boat camp operator, tree farmer and gardener par excellence.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn Fish Bryan of Taylor, AR; daughter, Judy Bishop and husband, Dickie of Mt. View, AR; sons, Andy Bryan and wife, Darlene of Taylor, AR, Dr. Mark Bryan and wife, Yolanda of Magnolia, AR, David Bryan of Tucson, AZ; brother, Harold, R. “Jack” Bryan of Taylor, AR; five grandchildren, Allen Bishop and wife, Michelle, Alice Clark and husband, Briton, Bryan Bishop, Courtney Riddle and husband, Jason, Nathan Bryan and four great grandchildren, Jessica, Ben, Cameron, Amelia and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bryan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil Bryan; sisters, Cleo Stewart Walker, Deo Clary and infant daughter, Jane Bryan.

Harrell Wallace Farrar
(May 26, 1936 - September 1, 2011)

Memorial services for Mr. Harrell Wallace Farrar age 75 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Barbara Lewis officiating under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, Louisiana.

Mr. Farrar was born on May 26, 1936 to Rodale and Jewell Farrar and passed away on September 1, 2011 at Willis Knighton Bossier .He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Bennington and was retired from International Paper Company. In 1964 Harrell was the Texas State Pigeon Shooting Champion and in 1974 he was awarded the Southern Sectional Bow Hunter Championship. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed playing golf at the Springhill Country Club. Harrell was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. Harrell is survived by his wife, Faye Farrar, his mother Jewell Farrar Lowrey, children Minette Farrar Williamson and husband Shawn, James Gregory Milloway and wife Ireen, Michael Wallace Milloway, Beverly Neely and Wayne Burns; grandchildren - Josh Milloway, Jonathan Ureta, Krystle Milloway, Brittany Milloway, Blake Farrar, Emiley Reser, Kevin Willamson, Makenzie Burns; and brother Stacy Crumley and wife Diane. Harrell was preceded in death by his father.

Linda Redda Waldron Garner
(December 27, 1938 - September 15, 2011)

Mrs. Linda Reeda Waldron Garner, 72, of Haynesville, passed away following a heart attack she suffered while at home on Thursday, September 15, 2011. Mrs. Garner was born in El Dorado, AR, on December 27, 1938, to Mr. and Mrs. Guy Waldron. Linda moved to Haynesville where she graduated high school with a great group of friends that she cherished for life. Following high school, Linda attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston.

Mrs. Garner met her future husband of 38 years in Dallas, TX, in 1972. She and James Garner were married in 1973 at a ceremony held in her mother’s home in Haynesville.

Linda was a very kind, patient, understanding, and caring person who never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family, singing in the choir, and taking trips with her friends.

Mrs. Garner is survived by her husband, James Garner of Haynesville; daughter, Jennifer Fowler and husband Jay of Minden; step-son Ronald Everett Garner and Gina of Lansing, KS; brother, Jerry Waldron and wife Betty of Haynesville; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home in Haynesville on Sunday afternoon from 2-5PM.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Haynesville on Monday September 18 at 10AM officiated by Dr. Shelby Cowling.

Parey Pershing Branton
(November 17, 1918 - September 15, 2011)

Funeral services for Parey P. Branton, age 92, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Mt. Paren Baptist Church with Dr. Johnie Adkins and Rev. Charles Garner officiating. Burial will be in the Union Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Saturday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Mr. Branton, a native and lifelong resident of this area died Thursday, September 15, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on November 17, 1918, the first child of Marion M. and Addie Mae Martin Branton of Shongaloo, LA. He grew up on the family farm just one mile southwest of the community center.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Georgia Lusby Branton; two sons, Daniel Miles Branton and wife, Renee’ of Ruston, LA, Parey Pershing Branton, Jr. of Shongaloo; brother, Harold M. Branton and wife, Elsie B. Branton of New Caney, TX; sister, Mutelle B. Thompson of Springhill, LA; grandchildren, Carson and Scarlett Branton; nephew, Jack Crace and wife, Emily of Shreveport; nieces, Ann Branton, Karen B. Freeman, Gail B. Holder, Barbara Jo Murray, Patricia C. Turner and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy B. Patton.

Mr. Branton received his early education at Shongaloo High School, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge and University of Texas, in Austin, Texas. He volunteered for service at the commencement of World War II with the United States Signal Corps. His first duty assignment was a special school in advanced radar, enemy air planes and ships at sea. While in the Signal Corps school in Avon, KY, he met and married the love of his life, Georgia P. Lusby. Upon completion of his studies, the two traveled to the west coast to join the Signal Corps Pacific Coast Watch Team.

After World War II, Mr. Branton obtained employment with the American Airlines Company in El Paso, TX. In 1948, he was promoted to Sales Operations for the company in San Francisco and Los Angeles as well as his home office in El Paso. In 1951 he was obliged to return to the family farm in Shongaloo. Later in the year, Mr. Branton, deciding to remain at the farm, took the position as Assistant Personnel Manager and Employee Payroll Accounting with International Paper Company in Springhill, LA.

Being forever public minded, he served on the Webster Parish School Board during 1952 to 1958, as a member, vice president and, finally President of the Board. In all of these positions, he pressed consistently for excellence in the classroom and efficiency in budget management and in public property maintenance.

Mr. Branton will long be remembered for his diligent services as LA State Representative, representing Webster Parish from 1960 to 1972. During his tenure, he served on several legislative committees.– Appropriations Committee; Judiciary “D” Obligations and Services Committee; Wild Life and Fisheries; Transportation and Highways; Chairman of the State Retirement Committee and, Public Education Committee. In addition, he sponsored legislation addressing Federal Aid Programs for the State of Louisiana and all Police Jury legislation. His emphasis in these challenging work assignments was honesty and fairness for all parties.

Serving as mayor of Shongaloo, his hometown, Mr. Branton always said, was his most enjoyable endeavor. During the period of 1960 to 1972, he was successful in building a town civic center, which is today the meeting place of choice for practically all Shongaloo civic functions. Mr. Branton retired from public service in 1990.

Throughout his life Mr. Branton was an active member and served as deacon of Mt. Paren Baptist Church. While he continued to work on the farm, he also became active as an oil and gas lease broker . He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. During his lifetime, he consistently viewed the future with highest hopes and optimism.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Crace, Ronny Martin, Dan Festervan, Randy Frye, John Ward Woodson and Steve Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Ural Cox, Rodney Martin, C.C. “Cat” Cox, Doug Black and Grover Washington.

The family would like to thank Dr. Alan J. Borne and Dr. Stuart Blum for the many years of care of our loved one.

For the way you always cared, for the good times we’ve shared. For the lessons you have taught, for the happiness you brought, we, your family, will never stop loving you.
