June 19, 1916 - December 30, 2012

Shongaloo, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Odessa Wynne, age 96, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the New Era United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Payne Officiating. Burial will be in the Western Cemetery, Emerson, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at New Era United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Wynne was born on June 19, 1916 to John and Nora Holladay Cason and passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Bossier City, LA. She was an active member of the New Era United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She will be remembered was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Mrs. Wynne is survived by daughters, Melba Jean Wynne Miller of Benton, LA; Louise Wynne Dodson of Haughton, LA; daughter-in-law, Sandy Wynne of Bayou Vista, LA; grandchildren, Sheree Phelps, Suzann White, Kristi Walls and husband, David; Stacey Shumate and husband, David; Kimberly White, Stephanie Bridges and husband, Tom; Charles Melvin Wynne, Jr., Gregg Wynne and Courtney Wynne; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Johnnie Cason of New Iberia, LA; sister-in-law, Inez Wynne Haynes of Shongaloo, LA and, brother-in-law, Denzil Pearson of Springhill, LA and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved family. Mrs. Wynne was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Melvin Wynne; her parents, son, Charles Melvin Wynne, Sr.; grandson, Nathan Clements; great-granddaughter, Brooke Phelps; son-in-law, Leon Miller; sisters, Margaret Pearson and Mary Nealy.

Pallbearers will be David Walls, Gregg Wynne, Nick Phelps, Tom Bridges, Steve Duggan and David Shumate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the New Era United Methodist Church, 25475 Hwy. 157, Shongaloo, LA 71072

Ronnie Lee "Catfish" Duncan

September 2, 1949 - February 6, 2012

Ronnie Lee Catfish Duncan, age 59 of Spearsville, La. passed away in his home on Monday February 6, 2012. He was born September 2, 1952 in Bastrop, La. to Wilbur Benjamin and Audry Mae ( Little ) Duncan. Following High School he graduated from Langley College in California and worked his entire career as a self employed carpenter. His love of fishing and the outdoors earned him the nickname Catfish to all his friends.

He is survived by his wife Judy Duncan of Spearsville, La., a son, David Allen and Sheila Duncan of Cleveland, Tn., a stepson Randall James Smith of Monroe, La. two daughters, Kimberly Lee Nipper and fiance, Otis Dison and Ashley Denise Duncan and Jonathon Richmond all of Junction City, Ar., two sisters, Glenda Sue Walker of Oatley, Ca. and Gloria Jean Jackson of Ft. Orchard, Wa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Skylar Marie, Alexis Danielle, and Hannah Belle Nipper, Hunter Allen Fruge, Hope Elizabeth Duncan, Austin Kyle, Ayden Keith, and Aaron Gadge all of Junction City,Ar.

Cremation arrangements were provided by Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR.

Gwen Adams

July 21, 1931 - October 24, 2011

Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Martha Gwendolyn Oglesby Adams, age 80, will be held Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Bradley United Methodist Church with Rev. John Braden officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Adams was born July 21, 1931 in Smackover, AR to Lowman and Ophelia Oglesby and passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 in Bossier City, LA. She was a resident of this area, graduated from Stamps High School, Stamps, AR and Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, AR and was a Real Estate Licensee. She taught school at Bradley High School, Plain Dealing Academy and also taught Sunday school at Bradley United Methodist Church. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed camping, water and snow skiing and dancing. She loved her family and life.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Carl Adams; son, Carl Wayne Adams and wife, Gail; daughter-in-law, Connie Adams Bradshaw; granddaughters, Carlee Gwen Adams, Caitlyn Scott Adams, Tina Kay Adams; grandson, Chris Wayne Adams; numerous great grandchildren; one great great grandson and seven step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Chris Todd Adams, Scott Adams, Michael Adams and one great grandson, Jarred Adams.

Honoring Mrs. Adams as pallbearers will be Chris Adams, Austin Adams, Justin Spence, Joseph Dunlap, Adam Dunlap and Robert Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Dunlap.

Miles Kenneth Adkins

December 3, 1927 - December 5, 2012

Graveside services for Miles Kenneth “Ken” Adkins, age 85 will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Cotton Valley Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Morgan officiating and eulogy by Jeff Thompson. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley, LA.

Mr. Adkins was born December 3, 1927 in Haynesville, LA to Littleton John and Kathryn Beene Adkins and passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in Arcadia, LA. He was a graduate of Homer High School. He was a letterman on the baseball team at LSU where he graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was Pacific League batting champion. He was a retired superintendent at Marathon Oil Company with 40 years of service. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and sports and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by a son, Mark Kenneth Adkins, on April 21, 2012; by his parents; sister, Beatrice McCadden and brother, Aubyn Lester Adkins.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Letitia Smith Adkins; daughter, Camille Adkins and husband, Larry Bromley of Ft. Worth, TX; son, Scott Davidson Adkins and wife, Naomi of Shongaloo, LA; grandchildren, Kacie Czapla and husband, Ty, Whitney Hargis and husband, Casey, Clint Adkins, Stephanie Adkins, Emily Clavier and husband, Brett.

MSGT William Michael Zagorski
April 28, 1928 - September 26, 2012

Funeral services for MSgt. William Michael Zagorski, age 84, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in Cotton Valley with Jon Mark Zagorski and Jerry Slack officiating. Burial will be in the Cotton Valley Cemetery, will full military graveside rites, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley, LA.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Cotton Valley.

Mr. Zagorski was born April 28, 1928 in Ridlay Park, PA and died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Dallas, TX where he had been a resident since 1979. He was a former resident of Hawaii for ten years. Mr. Zagorski was a member of the Church of Christ, was a retired veteran of the U. S. Air Force with 20 years of service and from the AAFES with 20 years of service. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Slack Zagorski; his parents; and son, Michael Wayne Zagorski.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Z. Roberts; son, Jon Mark Zagorski and granddaughter, Alyssa Zagorski Cohen, all of Dallas, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Betty Slack of Cotton Valley, LA; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Eulyne Morgan Adkins

October 9, 1909 - July 22, 2010

Dallas, TX/Shongaloo, LA - Born on October 9, 1909, Shongaloo, Louisiana, and moved to her Heavenly Residence on July 22, 2010 100 years, 9 months old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, M.D. Adkins.

She is survived by three sons, Doug (wife Carole), Bob (wife Suzette), and Ron (wife Alice), Adkins of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren Mindy, Gregory, David, Christopher, Alexander, Micah and Andrew and fourteen great grandchildren a brother, Willie D. Morgan of Lafayette, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Northwestern State College of Natchitoches as the outstanding woman athlete, and was recognized as an all American basketball player while playing for the Meadows Draughon Business School of Shreveport. She taught school at Evergreen and Shongaloo and worked for over 30 years with the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. She served as a leader in many civic organizations and was a member of the Old Shongaloo Methodist Church, but she attended Mt. Paran Baptist Church every Sunday with the love of her life, her husband M.D. She felt her sweet family was her greatest achievement. Mom Ene was idolized by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. As the matriarch for the O.C. Morgan family, she was known for her strong Christian faith, love of family, fabulous food, unselfish generosity and unfailing wisdom which served her well as a confidant and encourager to many. Mom Ene was a kind and gracious lady whose boundless hospitality was known to all. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.

A celebration of her home-going will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 211 Murrell Street, Minden, Louisiana, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010. The family will receive visitors at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, July 24, 2010 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The funeral will be under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.

Donations in her memory may be made to Mt. Paran Baptist Church, Shongaloo, LA. 71072.

Marcile "Peggy" Hudson Johnson

October 14, 1931 - January 4, 2013

Funeral services for Marcile “Peggy” Hudson Johnson, age 81, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2012 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lyn Story officiating. Burial will be in the Welcome Cemetery, Taylor, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born October 14, 1931 in Carthage, TX to A. L. and Jewel Soape Hudson and died Friday, January 4, 2013 in Plano, TX. She was a former resident of this area and had lived in the Dallas, TX area the past six years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church and a retired LPN.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. and James Pace of Plano, TX; son, Roy Stephen Edwards of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Angela Thompson and husband, Pat; Scott Lemons and wife, Liz; Anthony Lemons; Tammy Walters and husband, Shane; great-grandchildren, Drew, Abby, Anna, Jocie, Savannah, Cori, Sophia, Grayson and Madison; brothers, Bo Hudson and wife, Joyce of Sarepta, LA and Buddy Hudson of Shreveport, LA.

Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Lemons, Scott Lemons, Pat Thompson, Shane Walters, James Pace and Drew Horst.
