HUDSON -- Margaret F. (Burgess) McLaughlin, 83, formerly of Rebecca Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, in SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Millbury.

Her husband, Maurice McLaughlin, died in 1979. She leaves a son, Paul McLaughlin of Hudson; two daughters, Marie Wolik of Shrewsbury and Carol Raino of Marlboro; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Thomas, Leslie, John and James Burgess, and three sisters, Nellie Parnell, Daisy Schneider and June Burgess, predeceased her. She was born in Boston, daughter of Thomas and Daisy (Long) Burgess, and lived many years in Hudson before moving to Millbury.

Mrs. McLaughlin was a collator at American Can Co., Maynard. She was a member of Christ the King Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, from Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 48 Central St. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Massachusetts, 30 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.

Clarence R. Messier, 84
Monday, January 28, 2002

OXFORD -- Clarence R. Messier, 84, of Pine Street, died Saturday, Jan. 26, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Sandalwood.

His wife of two years, Rhea B. (Porlier) Messier, died in 1985. He leaves a sister, Eva Gallant of Oxford; nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. His wife of 40 years, Alice (Gagnon) Messier, died in 1978. He was born in Oxford, son of Peter and Regina (DeGrauge) Messier, and graduated from Oxford High School in 1935.

Mr. Messier was chief engineer at Memorial Hospital in Worcester for 31 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. Roch's Church, and enjoyed gardening, reading, and fishing.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St. Burial will be at a later date in St. Roch's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Roch's Church, 334 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing arrangements.

Douglas Midwood, World War II veteran

WORCESTER -- The funeral service for Douglas Midwood, 80, of 3902 Knightsbridge Close, a former information services manager, who died Friday, Jan. 25, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus after a long illness, will be private in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Jean (Hubbard) Midwood; a son, John D. Midwood of Wrentham; two daughters, Janet Ulz Cortes of Worcester and Michele M. Secatore of Hanson; a sister, Martha M. Baum of Cape Cod; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Arnold J. and Alice N. (Douglas) Midwood, and lived 35 years in Holden. He graduated from Exeter (N.H.) Academy and Yale University. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

John Milosz, 81

SHREWSBURY -- John "Pep" Milosz, 81, of 96A Hartford Turnpike, a retired machinist, died Thursday, Jan. 31, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

He leaves a brother, Medard M. Milosz of Shrewsbury; a sister, Jane A. Rodak of Shrewsbury; nephews and nieces. A brother, Joseph Milosz, and two sisters, Mary Sinasky and Sophie Rojcewicz, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Adolph and Sophie (Lisowska) Milosz, and lived most of his life in Shrewsbury.

Mr. Milosz was a machinist for O.S. Walker Co., Worcester, before retiring. He also played the guitar in several area bands, including The 3 Vets and the Melody Men. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Worcester.

The funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 4, from Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. A calling hour is 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester, MA 01604.

George W. Minkkinen

FITCHBURG -- George W. Minkkinen, 81, of 7302 East Oakridge Circle, Lantana, Fla., and formerly of 660 Ashburnham St., died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, Conn., after an illness. The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St., is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

George R. Joudrey, 86; retired business owner

FITCHBURG -- George R. Joudrey, 86, of 30 Summer St. and of Pleasant River, Nova Scotia, a retired business owner, died Friday, Feb. 1, in his Fitchburg home after an illness.

His wife, Eva M. (Huston) Joudrey, died in 1996. He leaves a daughter, Arlene M. McMillan of Methuen; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and his primary caregiver, Janet L. Craigue of Fitchburg. A daughter, Judith D. Holloway DeFelice, died in 1984. He was born in Pleasantfield, Nova Scotia, son of James E. and Eva M. (Mosher) Joudrey, and lived in Andover, Lancaster and Leominster and 36 years in Lunenburg before moving to Fitchburg four years ago. He graduated as a machinist from Worcester Boys Trade School.

Mr. Joudrey owned and operated Clear Tool Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1979. He previously worked at Independent Lock Co. He was a 55-year member of First Baptist Church, Leominster, and served on many church committees. He was president of North County Riding and Driving Club; a life member of Littleton Horse Owners Association; and a member of Worcester Beekeepers Association.

A graveside service and burial in Mountain View Cemetery in Troy, N.H., will be held in the spring. Calling hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to George R. Carmella Kaminski, 99

OAKHAM -- Carmella "Mollie" (Ruggerio) Kaminski, 99, of 717 North Brookfield Road, died Monday, Feb. 4, in Providence Extended Care Center, Worcester.

She leaves a niece, Carole Cordiner, with whom she lived. She was born in Saviano, Italy, daughter of Anthony and Filica (Morott) Ruggerio, and lived the past 10 years with her niece in Oakham.

Mrs. Kaminski was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Rutland.

The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main St., Rutland. Burial will be in Fremont, Calif. A calling hour is 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in Pillsbury Funeral Home, 44 Gilbert St., North Brookfield.

William H. Keith, 83

THOMPSON -- William H. Keith, 83, of 2 Jezierski Road, a retired electrician, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Webster Manor.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Alice (Belak) Keith; a son, David J. Keith of Norwich; six daughters, Susan Pobieglo in Alaska, Donna Hebert of Putnam, Wilma LaFave and Laura Boutelle, both of Webster, Wendy Larson of Zephyrhill, Fla., and Pamela Jezierski of Thompson; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Two daughters, Joyce Keith and Barbara LaMontagne, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Clayton and Eva (Jordan) Keith, and lived in Webster before moving to Thompson 15 years ago.

Mr. Keith was an electrician, and worked many years at Westboro State Hospital, retiring in 1983. He was a member of United Christ Church Federated in Webster, where he volunteered in the soup kitchen and food share programs. He was also an usher, and cooked for many church functions. He was active with the Massachusetts Committee for Youth, and was an avid camper.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in United Christ Church Federated, 4 Church St., Webster. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Massachusetts All-Stars, c/o Webster Five Cent Savings Bank, Main Street, Webster, MA 01570; or Food Share of Webster/United Church of Christ Soup Kitchen, 4 Church St., Webster, MA 01570.

Jeanette T. King, 70
Monday, February 04, 2002

ATHOL -- Jeanette T. King, 70, of 416 Main St., died Saturday, Feb. 2, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Worcester.

She leaves three brothers, Arnold King of Orange, Donald and Robert King, both of Athol; four sisters, Arlene Vitello of Deltona, Fla., Pricilla Farrell of Louisville, Ky., Geraldine Grindle of Athol, Theresa Beroldi of Margate, Fla.; nieces and nephews. She was born in Howland, Maine, daughter of Leonard and Edna (Clark) King, and moved to Erving in 1938. She lived in Orange, Belchertown, Westboro and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and moved to Athol eight years ago. She obtained a licensed practical nurse certificate.

Miss King owned and operated a pet store and did private duty nursing and cooking at several hotels while living in Florida. She also was a nurse for the commonwealth of Massachusetts for 16 years. She enjoyed cooking. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331. Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St. is directing arrangements.

Ruby E. Kirk, 73

CLINTON -- Ruby E. (Milton) Kirk, 73, of 24 Water St., formerly of West Boylston, a retired switchboard operator, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Clinton Hospital, after an illness.

Her husband, Philip L. Kirk, died in 1992. She leaves two daughters, Joyce L. Rowell of Leicester and Linda J. Gray of Worcester; a brother, Richard Milton of Clinton; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nephews and nieces. A brother, Raymond Milton, predeceased her. She was born and raised in Clinton, daughter of Kenneth and Elsie (Rauscher) Milton, and lived 35 years in West Boylston before returning to Clinton several years ago. She graduated from Clinton High School.

Mrs. Kirk was a switchboard operator at Clinton Hospital for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of First Congregational Church of West Boylston. She was also a member and past president of the Clinton Hospital Guild and American Legion Post 204 Women's Auxiliary, West Boylston.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in First Congregational Church, 26 Central St., West Boylston. Burial will be at the family's convenience. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in James E. Watson Funeral Home, 149 Water St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church, 26 Central St., West Boylston, MA 01583; or to Clinton Hospital Guild, 201 Highland St., Clinton, MA 01510.

Roberta L. Krals, 60

WORCESTER -- Roberta L. (Strom) Krals, 60, of 1 Wigmam Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 26, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 30 years, Daniel McCarthy Sr. of Worcester; two sons, Kenneth A. Krals of Worcester and Daniel J. McCarthy of Palmer; six daughters, Deborah A. Morgan of Oxford, Cynthia J. Krals and Brenda L. Pastor, both of Rutland, Tina M. Barnhill of Lake Wylie, S.C., Tracy L. Greene of Worcester, and Dawn I. Light of Sutton; a brother, Robert Strom of Worcester; two sisters, Vera Morin of Worcester and Carol McCorquodale of Orange; 19 grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Theodore and Jenny (Andros) Strom.

Mrs. Krals worked for Iandoli Package Store, retiring in 1999. She wa previously a manager for Honey Farms.

She was a member of St. John's Church.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Millbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Resource Center, 360 West Boylston St., West Boylston, MA 01583. Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., is directing arrangements.

Freda K. Kristoff, 58
Wednesday, January 30, 2002

PRINCETON -- Freda K. Kristoff, 58, of 46 Main St., died Monday, Jan. 28, in Coachlace Healthcare Nursing Center, Clinton, after an illness.

She leaves a brother, Richard C. Kristoff, of Princeton; a niece, Dale A. Kristoff, and a nephew, Richard C. Kristoff Jr., both of Princeton. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Fred and Katherine Kristoff, and lived most of her life in Princeton. She graduated from New England School of Accounting, Worcester.

Miss Kristoff was a secretary for many years at Kinsley & Adams, an investment company in Worcester.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity.

Jerzy H. Kucala, 67

LEICESTER -- Jerzy H. "Jerry" Kucala, 67, of 316 River St., a retired die maker, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Helena J. (Lawicka) Kucala; a son, Dariusz J. "Derek" Kucala of Millbury; a daughter, Monika A. Maslen of Douglas; a brother, Kaz Kucala of Shirley; four grandchildren; a nephew and nieces. A brother and two sisters in Poland predeceased him. He was born in Lublin, Poland, son of Jozef and Michalina (Obacz) Kucala, and came to the United States in 1978. He was educated in Poland and served in the Polish Air Force.

In Poland, Mr. Kucala was a master electrician. He was a die maker for 14 years at Reed-Rico Co., Holden, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, Worcester. He enjoyed electrical work and Polish culture.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., Worcester, with Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. After cremation, burial will be at a later date in Poland. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church Memorial Fund, 34 Ward St., Worcester, MA 01610.
