Adalgisa Faieta, 84

CLINTON - Adalgisa (Fidanza) Faieta, 84, of 8 Hastings Court, died Wednesday, June 12, in Clinton Hospital after an illness.

Her husband, Antonio Faieta, died in 1981. She leaves four sons, Bruno Faieta of France, Diego and Vito Faieta, both of Clinton, and Fabrizio Faieta of Sterling; two daughters, Nerina and Graziella Faieta, both of Italy; 20 grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two sons, Luciano and Sergio Faieta, predeceased her. She was born in Pianella, Italy, daughter of Battista and Donata Fidanza, and moved to Maynard in 1970 and to Clinton eight years ago. She attended schools in Italy.

Mrs. Faieta was a homemaker. She was a former member of St. Bridget's Church, Maynard, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

The funeral will be held Friday, June 14, from Philbin - Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the funeral home.

Raymond Faucher, 60
Monday, June 10, 2002

GARDNER - Raymond Faucher, 60, of 156 Green St., a retired head custodian, died Sunday, June 9, in Leo P. Lachance Center after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Audrey A. (Stone) Faucher; a son, David R. Faucher of Gardner; and a daughter, Mary Ann Faucher of Gardner. He was born in Gardner, son of Arthur and Stella D. (Croteau) Faucher, and graduated from Gardner High School in 1960.

Mr. Faucher was head custodian for the Gardner Public School System for 23 years, retiring in 1996 because of illness. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church; was formerly active with Boy Scout Troop 4; was a Gardner call firefighter for 15 years; and was a ham radio operator for many years. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 13, from Lamoureux - Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St. (www.fletcherfuneralhomes.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to House of Peace and Education Inc., 20 Barthel Ave.; or to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 4, c/o Alan Rousseau, 211 Betty Spring Road, both Gardner, MA 01440.

Joseph J. Fortier, 67
Friday, June 14, 2002

WORCESTER - Joseph J. Fortier, 67, of 1050 Main St., died Tuesday, June 11, in Clark Manor Nursing Home after a battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 17 years, Marion (Hazen) Fortier; and a twin brother, John J. Fortier of Worcester. He was born in Boston, son of Raymond and Maryanne (Joyce) Fortier, and lived in Boston and Woburn before moving to Worcester. He had served in the Army.

Mr. Fortier was a factory worker.

Funeral service and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 72 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01603.

Teri A. FoxTree, 38

WORCESTER - Teri A. (Rowan) FoxTree, 38, of 56 Bowdoin St., a former home health aide, died Tuesday, June 11, at home.

She leaves her parents, Richard W. and Carolyn M. (Mariano) Rowan of Santa Monica, Calif.; a brother, Richard W. Rowan Jr. of Santa Monica; three sisters, Melanie Landsberg of Los Angeles, Carrie Daigneault of Northboro and Andrea Freidus of Worcester; nieces and nephews. She was born in Utica, N.Y., and lived in Northboro before moving to Worcester several years ago. She graduated from Algonquin Regional High School, Northboro, and Endicott College, Beverly.

Ms. FoxTree was a home health aide in the Worcester area until her medical condition disabled her in 1995. She enjoyed music and American Indian culture.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, in Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St. After cremation, burial will be at the family's convenience. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 20 Walnut St., Suite 318, Wellesley, MA 02481; or to National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc., 1 Hanover Park, 16633 North Dallas Parkway, Suite 600, Addison, TX 75001.

Eleanor H. Frantz, 93

LANCASTER - Eleanor H. (Johnson) Frantz, 93, of 13 Highfield Drive, died Wednesday, June 12, in Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Westboro, after an illness. Philbin - Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Eleanor H. Frantz, 93

LANCASTER - Eleanor H. (Johnson) Frantz, 93, of 13 Highfield Drive, a retired teacher, died Wednesday, June 12, in Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Westboro, after an illness.

Her husband, George Clinton Frantz, died in 1988. She leaves a daughter, Mary E. Phillips of West Carrolton, Ohio; a son, George C. Frantz of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren. She was born in Scranton, Pa., daughter of Mary (Fagan) and Hubert D. Johnson. She attended Marywood Seminary and Marywood College, both in Scranton, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1931. Because of her blindness, she lived in assisted living facilities in Rhode Island, Ohio, Marlboro, and most recently, at Leominster Crossings.

Mrs. Frantz was a children's social worker at the New York Foundling Hospital. Later, she operated a series of schools for children, and taught ballroom dancing and social education in both Iowa and Pennsylvania. She also founded schools at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. She later taught elementary grades in parochial and public schools in Bethesda, Md. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband opened an antiques shop and a Christmas shop in Maryland. An accomplished pianist, she had a radio show in Scranton during her youth, and studied classical piano with Earl Eztemach. She also wrote a novel and a play.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, in the First Church of Christ Unitarian, Lancaster Common. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, in Quidnessett Cemetery, North Kingstown, R.I. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, in Philbin - Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.

Florence A. Gauthier

STURBRIDGE - Florence A. (Cody) Gauthier, 83, of 166 Lane 8, died Wednesday, June 5, in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after an illness.

Her husband, John F. Gauthier, died in 1977. She leaves a sister, Rosilda B. Rivers of Sturbridge; nephews and nieces. A brother, Thomas A. Cody, and a sister, Alice E. Hatch, predeceased her. She was born in Charlton, daughter of Thomas M. and Rosilda M. (Mongeon) Cody, and lived most of her life in the area.

Mrs. Gauthier worked at Webster Lens Co. before retiring. Previously, she worked at Charlton Woolen Mill. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Southbridge and the United Optical Workers Union Local 408. She enjoyed crocheting.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, in Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 700 Worcester St., Southbridge. Burial will be in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.

Peter J. Gilmore, 28

BARRE - Peter J. Gilmore, 28, of 1299 Wauwinet Road, died Friday, June 7, in Barre.

He leaves a son, Peter Gilmore Jr.; his father, Norman W. Gilmore of Athol; his mother, Jane M. (Olechnicki) Gilmore of Barre; two brothers, Matthew and Lucas Gilmore, both of Barre; a sister, Pamela Gilmore of Barre. He was born in Worcester and graduated from Barre High School.

He was a well driller the past 18 months for Pioneer Well Drilling Co. in Belchertown.

The funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Road, is directing arrangements.

Brother John R. Gore

SPENCER - Brother John R. Gore, 79, with the Cistercian Order of Strict Observance Trappists of St. Joseph's Abbey, died Wednesday, June 5, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a short illness.

He leaves a sister, Margie Akers of New York City. He was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., son of John and Gretchen (Bragdon) Gore. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a monk for 57 years.

The funeral Mass will be at 7 a.m. Friday, June 7, in St. Joseph's Abbey Church, 167 North Spencer Road. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Abbey Cemetery. There are no calling hours. J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, is directing arrangements.

Paul Gottlieb, 67; published art books

NEW YORK - Paul Gottlieb, who for two decades ran one of the country's most prominent art book publishing companies, died Wednesday of a heart attack. He was 67.

Gottlieb was publisher, president and editor in chief of Harry N. Abrams. Under his leadership, the small company became the dominant publisher of illustrated art books in the United States.

Gottlieb developed new markets for expensive, high - quality illustrated art books. He made bids for the rights to distribute the exhibit catalogs of famous museums, partnering with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney, among others.

After retiring from Abrams, but remaining as vice chairman of La Martiniere Group, its parent company, Gottlieb became executive editor of the photography publisher Aperture. He was recently named chairman of the Academy of American Poets.

Richard M. Greenwood

CLINTON - Richard M. Greenwood, 41, of 292 Water St., died Wednesday, June 12, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his mother, Marion A. (Lecher) Greenwood Noel of Clinton; a brother, Brian Greenwood of Brighton; three stepbrothers, John Noel of Norwood, and Robert and William Noel, both of Michigan; two sisters, Donna R. Witte of Windham, N.H., and Linda M. Ventura of Lancaster; a stepsister, Dawn Randall of Michigan; nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Cambridge, and graduated from Cambridge Latin High School in 1979. He lived 10 years in Clinton. He served in the Air Force.

Mr. Greenwood was an electrical technician and worked for several companies in the Boston area.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, in James E. Watson Funeral Home, 149 Water St. Burial will be in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancers Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
