Gerarda M. Fulham, 49

Osterville - Gerarda Marie Fulham, 49, a longtime Osterville resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at her home after a long illness with cancer.

Born in Boston, she lived in Osterville for 30 years and was a practicing attorney on the Cape for 20 years. Her practice was centered on advocacy for the needy and underprivileged.

A 1972 graduate of Trinity College, Washington , D.C., she received a master's degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago in 1974 and a law degree from Boston College in 1980.

She was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1980 and admitted as an attorney and counselor to the Supreme Court of the United States in 1990.

Surviving are two sisters, Trudy Fulham Sullivan of New York City and Osterville, and Maura Fulham Edmonds of Wilmington, Del.; two brothers, John B. Fulham of Centerville and Gerard A. Fulham of Marstons Mills; 13 nieces and nephews; and a grandnephew.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Osterville. Burial was private.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675; or to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Avenue, Osterville, MA 02655.

Mae Robotham, 88

Bristol, Conn. - Mae Robotham, 88, who leaves a son in Hyannis, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at the Sheriden Woods Health Care Center.

She was the wife of the late Richard Robotham.

Mrs. Robotham was born in Farmington and was a member of St. Matthew Church and the former Burlington Avenue Community Club.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Robotham of Hyannis, Mass., and Philip Robotham of Bristol; a daughter, Marylynn Savage of Bristol; a sister, Lillian Anderson of Farmington; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass at St. Patrick's Church in Farmington was followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery in Farmington.

Robert Rozen, 74

Marstons Mills - Robert Rozen, 74, a Cape Cod resident for the last 10 years, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Cape Cod Hospital.

He was the husband of Eleanor (Barnes) Rozen.

Mr. Rozen was born, raised and educated in Boston and graduated from Dedham High School. He served with the Coast Guard during World War II.

After the war, Mr. Rozen returned to Dedham, running a grocery business called Evergood for several years. He worked for about 15 years for the Herman Health & Beauty Aids Inc. of Avon and had 33 years of service with Sears, Roebuck & Co., with most of that time in Dedham and the last 10 years at the Hyannis Sears. He moved to the Cape 10 years ago.

Mr. Rozen was a sports fan, enjoyed gardening and loved to play chess and checkers.

Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Barbara Bowman of Dedham, Jean Amort of Dover, Del., and Gail LeBlanc of Middleboro; a sister, Geraldine Simone of Littleton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 895 Mary Dunn Road, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Stanley A. Woodward, 77

Plymouth - Stanley A. Woodward, 77, who leaves family on the Cape, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth.

He was the husband of June (Foster) Woodward.

Born in Rockland, Mr. Woodward lived in Scituate and Rockland before moving to Plymouth. He graduated from Tabor Academy, attended Colgate University for three years and earned an honorary degree in business from Babson College.

A World War II Army veteran, he was the part-owner and supervisor of Rockland Webbing in Rockland.

Mr. Woodward enjoyed painting, woodworking and ceramics. His home was filled with furniture, paintings, woodcarvings and hand-painted ceramic plates he had made.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Wesley C. Woodward of Sandwich; two daughters, Candace R. Keefe of Marshfield and Jill S. McCarter of Marstons Mills; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Marie F. Austin, 68

East Sandwich ­ Marie Frances Austin, 68, a retired bookkeeper, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at her home.

She was the wife of the late Herbert J. Austin Jr.

Born in Marlboro, Mrs. Austin was educated in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Cape Cod Community College, where she studied accounting.

Mrs. Austin worked as a bookkeeper for 20 years in the Barnstable County Treasurer's office and for Thorne Clinic Inc. in Pocasset. She retired in 1996.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish Center and enjoyed her daily newspaper.

Surviving are five daughters, Dianne Bleidorn of East Sandwich, Deborah Morgan of Hyannis, Lynn Odams and Heather Ranney, both of Sandwich, and Susan Wald of Wrentham; a sister, Jeanette Beshong of Holbrook; a brother, Bernard Shortsleeve of Westminster, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Theresa's Church in Sagamore. Burial was private.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mary C. Celata, 68

Hyannisport ­ Mary C. (Horan) Celata, 68, a former teacher and school administrator, died Friday, Dec. 9, 1999, at her home after a brief illness.

She was the wife of Stephen P. Celata.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Celata was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1948. She also attended Boston University and received a master's degree from Bridgewater State College.

Mrs. Celata began her career in education in 1968 as a sixth grade teacher at the Putnam School in Cambridge. She joined the Sandwich school system in 1969 as a fourth grade teacher at the Sandwich Elementary School. She had served as curriculum/program coordinator of that school until 1990 when she became the first principal of the Oak Ridge School in Sandwich. She retired in 1996.

As a teacher and administrator, she was a guiding influence to not only her students but also her peers. Her commitment to education and children had been unwavering.

She gave nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the betterment of schools and the education of children.

An avid golfer, she also enjoyed her books and the beach.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Kathleen I. Hinckley of Barnstable, Laureen Browing of Weymouth and Stefanie Celata DelPapa of Quincy; and six grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late Charles A. Chick.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis. Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.

Gertrude M. Clarke, 95

Bourne ­ Gertrude Margaret Clarke, 95, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 8. 1999, at Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was the wife of the late Waldo Clarke.

Born and raised in Yonkers, N.Y., Mrs. Clarke attended Normal School after graduation from high school and was certified as a teacher. She married in 1925 and moved to Franklin, N.J., where she worked with her husband at their engineering firm, W.J. Clarke Engineering Associates. She also taught kindergarten in he Ogdensburg, N.J., schools.

In 1969, she and her husband moved to Englewood, Fla., where they lived for 22 years before moving to Tryon, N.C. She moved to Barnstable in 1991 and lived with her daughter until 1994 when she moved to the Cape Cod Nursing Home.

Mrs. Clarke was active in the Girl Scouts while living in Franklin, N.J., as a leader and commissioner. She was also a deacon in the Presbyterian Church in Tryon, N.C., and a member of the Weavers Group.

She was active in community affairs and drove for the Meals on Wheels program. She was also an avid gardener and artist.

Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Gertrude M. Clarke of Whippany, N.J., and Carol Clarke DiVico of Barnstable; a son, Waldo H. Clarke of Lebanon, N.H.; a sister, Ruth Minihan of Jefferson , Ohio; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late David A. Clarke.

The funeral will be held at a later date.

Edward G. Corso, 90

Hyannis ­ Edward George Corso, 90, a Cape resident since 1972, died Thursday, Dec. 9. 1999, at his home.

He was the husband of Jean (Vigliotti) Corso.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Corso attended Columbia University, New York University, City College of New York and the New York Stock Exchange Institute. He lived and worked in the New York City area until 1972 when he and his wife moved to the Cape.

As a young man, he was an ardent, amateur photographer. He also had a talent for music, wrote for the piano, wrote poetry and loved to draw.

During World War II, he began a long career on Wall Street, selling mutual funds and later as an administrative assistant for Muriel Siebert, the first woman to hold a seat on the New York Stock Exchange.

Mr. Corso was an active member of the Republican party on Cape Cod and a member of the Osterville Men's Club. He was also a member of the Art and Humanities Club, Hyannis Civic Association, coordinator of funding for the YMCA in the town of Barnstable and a member of the MSPCC.

He loved hiking, camping, swimming and learned to ski in his 60s. He also was an avid golfer.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Carol L. Derry of New York and Edwina Tona of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Ralph Corso of Farmington, Conn.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.

Monica 'Mona' Cummings, 92

Centerville ­ Monica "Mona" (Molony) Cummings, 92, a longtime resident of Centerville, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at her home after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Cummings.

Born in Manchester, England, Mrs. Cummings moved to Centerville in 1910 and was a 1924 graduate of Barnstable High School. She lived in Natick and Delano, Fla., before returning to Centerville in 1964.

She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Hope Chapel, which her father helped build.

An avid seamstress, she was well known for her creative knitting and detailed needlepoint skills.

A knowledgeable historian, she loved talking about the old days and how Cape Cod and the town of Barnstable grew and developed.

Surviving are a daughter, Grace McLean of Centerville; a brother, Wilfred Molony of Florida; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Jean Cummings.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, West Barnstable. Burial was private.
