Lennart C. Hultgren, 65

Wareham - Lennart C. Hultgren, 65, died June 18, 2000, in the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.

He was the husband of Barbara A. (Hill) Hultgren.

Born in Auburn, he lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Wareham in 1968.

Mr. Hultgren was a Navy veteran of Korea, serving aboard the USS Worcester.

He was a charter boat captain aboard the Aquarius III in Barnstable Harbor for many years and was employed during the winter at Ocean Reef Yacht Club in Key Largo and later at North Palm Beach Yacht Club. Previously, he worked for Herald Machine Division of Cincinnati Milicron in Worcester.

Mr. Hultgren won the Cape Cod Tuna Tournament several times and was a member of the Cape Cod Charter Boat Association and the Lodge of Elks No. 1549 in Hyannis.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Linda Hultgren of Worcester; two stepsons, Glen Johnson and Mark Johnson, both of Wareham; a brother, Robert Hultgren of Wareham; a sister, Doris M. Veach of Sturbridge; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Joseph E. Lanctot, 94

Hyannis ­ Joseph E. Lanctot, 94, of Hyannis, died June 19, 2000, at Mayflower Place in Yarmouth.

He was the husband of the late Alice (Zuidema) Lanctot.

Mr. Lanctot was born in Malden and educated in Everett. He did advanced studies at Commonwealth College. He then took over the management of Lanctot Cleaners in Watertown.

He later moved to Springfield and owned and operated a construction company. He was also a real estate broker.

During World War II, Mr. Lanctot worked for the federal government managing the Army Supply Depot in Indian Orchard, and he continued his work there for several years after the end of the war.

Mr. Lanctot built a home in Hyannis Park, retiring to the Cape in 1978. He was listed in Who's Who in America for building the first mall in Hyannis. He was a former member of the Cape Cod Real Estate Board. He was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Marion Little, 90

Osterville - Marion Little, 90, a resident of Osterville, died June 16, 2000, at the Center for Optimum Care in Mashpee.

She was the wife of Elbert Little, who died in 1986.

Born in Hyannis, Mrs. Little was the direct descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower through lineage of her great-grandparents, Washington Bursley and Sophronia Howland.

Mrs. Little attended Cotuit Grammar School and Osterville Elementary School. She graduated from Barnstable High School in 1928 before going on to Sargent School of Physical Education in Cambridge. She also graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in education in 1933.

She was a lifelong member of the Cotuit and Sandwich Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 221.

Surviving are a son, Frederick Parker Little of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and two daughters, Pamela Jane Newman of West Yarmouth and Elberta June Warburton of Bourne Village.

Miriam S. Mayblom, 88

Hyannis - Miriam Sundelin Mayblom, 88, a Cape resident since 1993, died June 18, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Felix R. Mayblom.

Born in Finland, Mrs. Mayblom was educated there and in the United States, and moved here with her parents when she was 9. She was a graduate of Quincy High School, studied at Chandler Secretarial School and took voice lessons until her marriage in 1935.

Mrs. Mayblom and her husband moved to the state of Washington , where they lived for three years and served several parishes.

In 1938, she and her husband moved to West Paris, Maine, where they served a Finnish Congregational Church for about 35 years. She moved to Hyannis in July 1993 from Oxford, Maine.

She had a soprano voice and sang at many occasions. She also taught voice, was choir director and was active in church work.

An opera buff, she loved to attend the performances of the Metropolitan Opera of New York when it came to Boston on tour. She was an avid listener of the Saturday Met radio broadcasts.

She loved entertaining and enjoyed cooking, needlework, Scrabble and mystery novels.

Surviving are two brothers, Varma Sundelin of West Barnstable and Joel Sundelin of Harwich; a nephew, Mark Sundelin of Hyannis, who was her caregiver; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Judith M. Mayblom.

Gerald D. Shirley, 93

Centerville ­ Gerald D. Shirley, 93, formerly of Belmont, Lexington and Bonita Springs, Fla., died June 19, 2000, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion in Centerville following a long illness.

He was the husband of Margaret (Tully) Shirley for 72 years.

Mr. Shirley was born, raised and educated in Belmont. He worked for the Raytheon Corp. of Brighton. Later, he worked for the former Gebott Creme Fried Cakes, now known as Drakes Cakes, of Brighton.

Besides his wife, Mr. Shirley leaves a son, Gerald R. Shirley of Bluffton, S.C.; one daughter, Janet Shirley Hill of West Medford; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Walter R. Shuley, 65

Barnstable - Walter R. Shuley, 65, an architect and longtime Cape resident, died unexpectedly June 17, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

He was the husband of Claudette C. (Higgins) Shuley since 1958.

Mr. Shuley was born and raised in Boston. He graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1953 and worked as a draftsman for several engineering companies while attending college. He graduated from the Boston Architectural Center in 1969. He lived in Quincy and later in Weymouth before moving to Barnstable in 1972.

After graduation, Mr. Shuley worked for several architectural and design companies in the Boston area. He was working for Holmes and Edwards Co. of Quincy, specializing in the design of churches.

Over the years, Mr. Shuley was directly involved in the design of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Orleans, the Community Center at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Falmouth. He was instrumental in creating the design for the MBTA "T" logo with circle, as well as the design of the New England Aquarium.

Mr. Shuley was an avid Red Sox and hockey fan, and attended many Bruins and high school hockey games at the old Boston Garden. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and was a volunteer consultant for the design restoration of the Sturgis Library and for the new Barnstable firehouse. He was known to donate his services for the design of family homes and to assist with the handicapped. He designed his own three homes.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Keith J. Shuley of Petaluma, Calif., and Brian R. Shuley and Craig M. Shuley, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Nadine A. Speers of Plymouth; three brothers, Joseph Shuley Jr. of Munson, Paul Shuley of Quincy and Donald Shuley of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Brian S. Zicko, 39

Hyannis - Brian S. Zicko, 39, died June 19, 2000, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born, raised and educated in Natick. He moved to Hyannis shortly after high school.

He served for a short time with the Air Force, stationed in Mississippi and Texas .

After returning from the service, Mr. Zicko settled in Natick and worked at Bernardi's Honda as parts manager. From time to time he worked at the Anderson Cycle Works in Framingham. He returned to Hyannis in 1996.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Barney of Framingham; two brothers, Bruce D. Zicko of Hyannis and Robert J. Zicko of Apex, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Warren T. 'Barney' Baxter Jr., 60

Hyannis - Warren Thatcher "Barney" Baxter Jr., 60, owner of Baxter's Boathouse Club, died of cancer June 25, 2000, at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands in Sandwich.

He was the husband of Brenda Anne (Wolff) Baxter, who died in 1973. They had spent much of their time boating on the waters of Cape Cod and the islands.

Born in Hyannis, Mr. Baxter graduated from Barnstable High School in 1958 and then enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served for four years. He then returned home to help his father change Baxter's Fish Market to Baxter's Boathouse Club and Fish n' Chips.

A talented wood carver, he hand carved many of the "knees" and signs in the boathouse that added to the displayed family memorabilia. He also hand carved buckets that adorn some of the Cape's most well known vessels.

Mr. Baxter was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America, One Hundred Club of Massachusetts since 1971, Marine Corps League and the American Legion. He was also a guest speaker of many organizations on the history of Cape Cod and a friend of Bill W.

Surviving are two sons, Benjamin D. Baxter of Osterville and Samuel T. Baxter of South Hyannis; a daughter, Amy Baxter Seiss of Marathon, Fla.; a sister, Cynthia Ryder of Chelmsford; two grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor L. Caisse, 83

Hyannis - Eleanor L. (Thompson) Caisse, 83, of Hyannis, died June 24, 2000, at home after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late Edward W. Caisse.

Mrs. Caisse was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and educated in Vermont schools. She was a secretary for her husband's construction company for several years before moving to Massachusetts. She then worked as a supervisor at American Electric Cable of Holyoke. Mrs. Caisse moved to Cape Cod in 1982.

She enjoyed sewing stuffed animals and was a member of Elder Craftsmen of Philadelphia for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing cards and Scrabble.

Surviving are two daughters, Angelina Tallman of Hyannis, with whom she lived for many years, and Carol Gallagher of Springfield; a son, Edward Caisse Jr. of Florida; a sister, Jennie Roberts of Richmond, Vt.; a brother, William Thompson of Clinton, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late George Caisse.

A service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington, Vt., at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, MA 02346; or to a charity of one's choice.
