Paul F. Doherty Sr., 72

Centerville- Paul F. Doherty Sr., 72, of Centerville and formerly of Brockton, died Jan. 22, 2001, at Hospice House of Barnstable after a period of failing health.
He was the husband of Patricia A. (Bragdon) Doherty for 50 years.
Born, raised and educated in Brockton, Mr. Doherty was a 1946 graduate of Brockton High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy Air Corps for the remainder of World War II.
In 1976, he retired as manager of the A&P supermarket in Campello after 28 years with the company. He continued his career at Angelo's supermarket in Hanover and Purity Supreme on Cape Cod until retiring in 1992.
Mr. Doherty was a member of American Legion Post 133 in Sandwich and Club National in Brockton for more than 20 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville and attended St. Colman Church while living in Brockton.
He enjoyed landscaping in his yard, winter vacations to Florida and his dog Cindy Lou.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, James R. Doherty of Falmouth, Stephen P. Doherty of Brockton and Paul F. Doherty Jr. of New York City and Washington , Conn.; a brother, William T. Doherty of Connecticut; five grandchildren; and five nieces.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Brenda C. Ellis, 55

Hyannis - Brenda Cecile (Burr) Ellis, 55, a certified nurses aide, died Jan. 22, 2001, at her home after an illness.
Born in Plymouth, she was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Kingston, Tufts Hematology at Boston City Hospital and later Cape Cod Nursing.
Ms. Ellis worked as a CNA for many years on the Cape, both with Hospice and other agencies.
She enjoyed carving and was a member of Cape Cod Carvers.
Surviving are two sons, Eric W. Ellis of Hyannis and Clayton R. Ellis of Orleans; and two grandchildren.
She was the longtime companion of the late Ira S. White .
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675; or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Mary Ann Johnson, 63

West Yarmouth - Mary Ann (Norton) Johnson, 63, a resident of West Yarmouth, died Jan. 23, 2001, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born and raised in Albany, N.Y. She moved with her family to the Cape in 1976 to be near the ocean. She worked as a nurses aide and was former owner of the Sunny Sands Hotel in Hyannis.
She enjoyed quilting, decorating and taking care of her grandchildren.
Surviving are four daughters, Sara Rosenberg of West Hyannisport, Tracy Fiset of West Yarmouth, Jill Bodo of Schenectady, N.Y., and Dawn Doherty of Hyannisport; a sister, Dorothy Harmon of Albany, N.Y.; a brother, William Norton of Albany, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

John J. Kennedy, 86

Centerville - John J. Kennedy, 86, died Jan. 24, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after an illness.
He was the husband of Sadie (Nickerson) Kennedy.
Born, raised and educated in New Haven, Conn., Mr. Kennedy was in the Army during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He then married and settled in Centerville.
Mr. Kennedy worked for the federal government as a budget officer until retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Hyannis Elks and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hyannis.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Kathleen M. Kennedy of Winter Park, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles H. Kitchell, 83

Yarmoutport - Charles H. Kitchell, 83, a resident of Yarmouthport and formerly of Osterville, died Jan. 22, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Watson) Kitchell.
Born in New York City, Mr. Kitchell was a longtime resident of Larchmont, N.Y., before moving to the Cape 18 years ago. He was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School in Mamaroneck, N.Y., and Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt.
Mr. Kitchell was president of Kitchell and Damon, a New York advertising agency, until his retirement. He previously served as an executive of the Interpublic Advertising Group of Companies and Lever Bros. Inc.
During World War II, he served in the Army Special Intelligence Forces in Europe from 1942 to 1946.
A talented and ardent artist, writer and musician, he was a member of the South Congregational Church in Centerville and various volunteer organizations.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Mark M. Kitchell of Hopkinton; a brother, James Kitchell of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandsons; 10 nieces; and six nephews. He was also the father of the late Capt. Charles Kitchell Jr.

Katherine H. Landers, 103

Centerville - Katherine H. (Carey) Landers, 103, formerly of Westminister and Paxton, died Jan. 20, 2001, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Edward H. Landers, who died in 1965.
Born, raised and educated in Westminister, Mrs. Landers lived her entire life in Massachusetts. After her marriage, she lived in Worcester and then in Paxton. In 1974, Mrs. Landers moved to Nantucket, where she lived until she moved to Centerville in 1982.
As a homemaker, Mrs. Landers was an avid cook. In her youth, she enjoyed horseback riding. She took her first plane ride at the age of 80.
Surviving are a son, Richard E. Landers of Hyannis; a daughter, Margaret R. Landers of Worcester; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Stanley J. Marsh, 60

Orleans - Stanley J. Marsh, 60, a tenor who often performed special programs in churches and senior centers, died Jan. 26, 2001, at home.
Mr. Marsh was born in Hyannis and educated at schools in Arlington and Cambridge.
He attended the Boston Conservatory of Music.
He worked for 25 years as a darkroom technician and photographer, but most recently as the custodian at the Orleans Elementary School and as a sexton at the Orleans United Methodist.
He and his wife Patricia (Proctor) Marsh were co-directors of The Staff Meeting, a musical education program for young people.
He had a lifelong passion for music and was a gifted tenor soloist. He performed at the Orleans United Methodist Church and other churches and in nursing homes and senior centers. He particularly enjoyed the music of Stephen Foster and often did programs dedicated to this American composer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his brother, Thomas Marsh of Orleans; a stepson, Daniel DeJoseph of Watervliet, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Denise Gauthier of Marlboro and Deborah D. DeJoseph of Rome, N.Y.; and two granddaughters.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut St., Brockton, MA 02301 or to the Stanley March Memorial Trust for the Orleans United Methodist Church Sunday School, Main Street, Orleans, MA 02653.

Constance A. O'Reilly, 90

Hyannis - Constance A. (Brunda) O'Reilly, 90, a Hyannis resident who leaves family on the Cape, died Jan. 21, 2001, at The Greenery Nursing Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Charles O'Reilly.
Born and raised in Bridgewater, Mrs. O'Reilly spent much of her life in Brockton until her illness.
She graduated from Burdett Business School and worked as a bookkeeper for Peterson Awning in Avon and Estes Auto in Rockland.
After she retired, Mrs. O'Reilly worked part time at West Acres Nursing Home, and was a volunteer at the soup kitchen at St. Paul's Church in Brockton.
She was also a longtime member of St. Edward Church in that city.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Cohen of Hyannis; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
