Lloyd E. Allen III, 81

Barnstable - Lloyd E. Allen III, 81, of Barnstable, died Feb. 27, 2001, at the Bedford Veterans Hospital following a long illness.
He was the husband of Jane Mary (Macdonald) Allen.
Mr. Allen was born in Brookline. During World War II he served in the Army. He was employed for many years by the Milton Bradley Co.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Lloyd E. Allen Jr. of Centerville, Richard D. Allen of Cohasset and Christopher S. Allen of Duxbury; a daughter, Candace A. Crowley of Wellesley; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.

J. Clive Enos Jr., 86

Cummaquid - J. Clive Enos Jr., 86, a resident of Cummaquid Heights, died of heart failure Feb. 21, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Enos was born in Charleroi, Pa., and attended Columbia University in New York City. He worked as a human resources executive for Corning Glass in Charleroi, Pa., and Danville, Ky., and at the executive offices of Raytheon Co. in Lexington. He retired to Barnstable in 1981.
An active member of the Episcopal Church, he served as a licensed layreader from the age of 16 and most recently as warden of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable until failing eyesight curtailed his commitments.
Surviving are two sons, J. David Enos of Port Isabel, Texas , and Dr. J. Clive Enos III of Jackson, Miss.; and five grandchildren.
Services were held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Main Street, Barnstable, MA 02630.

Marjorie J. Freeman, 77

Centerville - Marjorie Joyce Freeman, 77, a resident of Centerville, died Feb. 20, 2001, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was the wife of Bradford A. Freeman.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Halifax, Canada, and worked in nursing.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Joyce Hickman of Barnstable; a son, John Monaghan of Bridport, Vt.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Bourne, with burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery there.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 953, Barnstable, MA 02630.

Merle H. Lane, 82

Nicholasville, Ky. - Merle H. "Pete" Lane, 82, formerly of Centerville and a longtime Barnstable police officer, died Feb. 26, 2001, in Kentucky.
He was the husband of Marguerite Lane for more than 60 years.
Mr. Lane was born in Concord, N.H., and moved to Centerville in 1923, attending schools in the Barnstable school system. He lived on Cape Cod until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Lane was a member of the temporary Coast Guard Reserve at the beginning of World War II, providing beach and offshore patrol. He then enlisted in the Army Engineers and served in the Pacific Theater as a sergeant until his discharge in 1946. He was employed as caretaker of the Quinn estate in Centerville for more than 40 years.
Mr. Lane served as a police officer for the town of Barnstable for 20 years, as well as a volunteer firefighter for the Centerville-Osterville district and a security guard for the Paul Mellon family of Oyster Harbors.
He enjoyed entering exhibits in the Cape Cod Horticultural Society flower and vegetable shows, winning many ribbons and cups over the years.
Mr. Lane was a 50-year Mason in Mariners Lodge of Cotuit and a member of the Hart Lodge #61 in Nicholasville. He was the holder of the Veterans Medal in the Mariners Lodge and a 32-degree Mason in Massachusetts Consistory. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed playing baseball, softball, golf, bowling, sailing, hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Barbara Nunley of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Arnold C. Lane of Centerville; two granddaughters; and two nephews and a niece.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society; or to the Hart Lodge #61.

Thomas F. Norton, 88

Osterville - Thomas F. Norton, 88, died Feb. 27, 2001, at his home of cancer.
He was the husband of Margaret (Peg) Norton for 45 years.
Born in Randolph, Vt., Mr. Norton was raised in the Boston area.
He owned and operated several restaurants in Southern California, doing business as Norton's Cape Cod House. Mr. Norton moved to the Cape 35 years ago and settled in South Yarmouth. He worked at the Red Jacket Motor Inn as a chef for 12 years and at the Eastward Ho! Country Club for six years. In 1984, he retired and moved to Osterville.
Besides his wife, Mr. Norton leaves three stepchildren, Peggy Stober of Independence, Mo., James Bergquist of Mission View, Calif., and Jon Bergquist of West Yarmouth; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Jane Norton Hoffard and the late Marilyn Norton Rath, both of California.
Funeral services were private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

George L. Perry, 66

West Yarmouth - George L. Perry, 66, a resident of West Yarmouth, died Feb. 16, 2001, at the Hyannis Pavilion after a long illness.
He was the husband of Odette Perry for 39 years.
Born in Hyannis, Mr. Perry was a 1952 graduate of Barnstable High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956.
Mr. Perry worked as an auto body technician at the Rotary Autobody Shop for 34 years. Upon his retirement in 1994, he moved to Florida with his wife. They returned to the Cape in 1997.
Known as a gentle man with a positive attitude, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading to his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Brillant of Hyannis; two sisters, Aurelia Hinkley and Elizabeth Marshall of Centerville; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Beechwood Cemetery, Centerville.

William E. Sullivan Jr., 74

West Yarmouth - William E. Sullivan Jr., 74, a resident of West Yarmouth, died Feb. 26, 2001, at a nursing home in Sandwich.
He was the husband of the late Eileen (Phylis) Sullivan.
Born and raised in Lexington, Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of Lexington High School. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific.
He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, and retired after 30 years of service.
Mr. Sullivan was a past exalted ruler and lifelong honorary member of the Elks Lodge in Hyannis, a national VAVS representative and a member of the Hyannis Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Lodge, Hyannis.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Patrick Sullivan of Brunswick, Ga., and Michael James Sullivan of West Yarmouth; a sister, Jean Davis of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, Hyannis, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Patricia M. Tenney, 75

Sagamore - Patricia M. Tenney, 75, a resident of Sagamore, died Feb, 25, 2001, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham.
Born in Hyannis, she attended Barnstable schools and graduated from Barnstable Normal School in 1944. She was a homemaker and formerly worked as a bookkeeper at Puritan Clothing Co. for five years.
A member of the Federated Church in Hyannis, she enjoyed Bingo, crocheting, bowling and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Patty L. Chase of Buzzards Bay and Patty Tenney of Bourne; a sister, Claire Kerr of Texas ; a brother, Walter B. Pollock Jr. of Hyannis; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Donald G. Chicoine.
A funeral will be held at a later date.
