Deborah Ann Malchman, 48

Hyannis - Deborah Ann Malchman, 48, of Hyannis, died May 1, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.
She was born in Hyannis and raised in Provincetown, graduating from Provincetown High School. She was a teacher.
She is survived by a cousin, Pauline A. Roda of Orleans.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the one's choice.

Pauline M. Montaquila, 60

Marstons Mills - Pauline M. (D'Agostino) Montaquila, 60, of Marstons Mills, formerly of Mansfield, died April 28, 2001, at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.
She was the wife of Ronald R. Montaquila.
She was born, raised and educated in Providence, graduating from Mount Pleasant High School. She received a bachelor's degree in business from Bryant College.
She was a former resident of Mansfield, where she was employed as a bookkeeper at Mansfield Town Hall.
In 1986, she and her husband moved to Marstons Mills, where she was employed as a coordinator at the Sheraton Tara Hotel. She was most recently employed at the Radison Hotel.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two brothers, David D'Agostino of North Scituate, R.I., and James D'Agostino of West Greenwich, R.I., and many nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Albert and Antonetta (Schiavino Pasarelli) D'Agostino.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701.

Helen Marie Sommer, 76

Osterville - Helen Marie (McCaffrey) Sommer, 76, of Osterville, an accomplished floral designer, died April 29, 2001, at Hospice House in Barnstable.
She was the wife of the late Robert L. Sommer.
Mrs. Sommer was born in Cambridge and reared and educated in Belmont. She was a graduate of Rosary Academy in Watertown and of Regis College.
Mrs. Sommer's floral work was exhibited in various art museums, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, with numerous other exhibits and flower shows throughout the Boston area. She was a member of the Belmont Garden Club and a member of the Home and Garden Guild.
Mrs. Sommer was a longtime resident of Belmont, moving to Osterville in 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth A. Harrigan of Needham; two sons, Thomas J. Sommer of Scituate and Robert A. Sommer of Ridgefield, Conn.; a sister, Ann Louise Kearney of Franklin; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House, 88 Railroad Ave., Barnstable, MA 02630.

Rita G. Stewart, 76

Marstons Mills - Rita G. (McClatchy) Stewart, 76, of Marstons Mills, died May 4, 2001, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Richard J. Stewart.
She was born in Norwood, and graduated from Norwood High School. She lived many years in Randolph before moving to Marstons Mills.
She leaves five sons, Richard Stewart of Bourne, Kenneth Stewart and Edward Stewart, both of Plymouth, John Stewart of Sandwich, and Daniel Stewart of Dresden, Maine; three daughters, Bernice Konary of Cotuit, Eileen Stewart of Sandwich, and Anna Marie Guzzetti of Sandwich; two sisters, Vera Ledbury of Franklin and Anna Marie Ruggles of Plymouth; and 27 grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late William Stewart.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Mary Church in Randolph, with burial in Central Cemetery there.

Pierre G. Borodine, 77

Centerville - Pierre Georges Borodine, 77, died May 5, 2001, of cancer.
He was the husband of Margaret (Stebbins) Borodine of Hyannis.
He was born in Bizerte, Tunisia, and grew up in Morocco. He was a graduate of the French University in Casablanca, Morocco, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering.
Mr. Borodine was a resident engineer with North American Aviation at Sprague Electric in North Adams until 1964. He also worked at GTE Sylvania in Needham on the Minuteman program, then as a private consultant until his retirement.
He lived in Concord for 20 years and retired to the Cape in 1983. He was fond of clamming, fishing, and gardening. He was a former member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Georges Borodine of St. John, Ind., Jon Borodine of Minneapolis, Minn., Michael Borodine of Wrentham, and Peter Borodine of Garland, Texas ; four daughters, Anne Borodine of Gallatin Gateway, Mont., Suzanne Klein of Westford, Marny Borodine of Franklin, Tenn., and Lisa Cook of Center Harbor, N.H.; 13 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at South Congregational Church in Centerville, followed by a private scattering of ashes on Squam Lake, N.H.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Ruth May Cash, 77

South Yarmouth - Ruth May Cash, 77, died May 9, 2001, of cancer.
She was the wife of the late Gordon F. Cash and a longtime friend of Vernon Blackmer, who died in 2000.
She was born in Falmouth and was a longtime resident of South Yarmouth. She graduated from Yarmouth High School.
Mrs. Cash was a legal secretary in Hyannis for many years. She also worked for Grant's stores in Hyannis; as a waitress at Mildred's Chowder House, Margaret and Al's and Shirdan's restaurants in Hyannis; and at the Belmont Hotel in West Harwich and the Blue Waters Hotel in South Yarmouth.
She was a member of the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cash was a past District Deputy President of the Willing Hand Rebeka Lodge No. 139, Hyannis, where she was a member for 50 years.
She loved reading, sewing, crossword puzzles, sports and spending time with her family. She traveled extensively and visited many countries.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Deratany of Osterville and Janice Lawson of South Yarmouth; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to Make a Wish, 99 Bedford St., Boston, MA 02110; or to a charity of the one's choice.

Arthur S. Gomes, 75

Centerville - Arthur S. Gomes, 75, died May 9, 2001, in Falmouth Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Gomes was born in New Bedford. He served in the Massachusetts State Guard, and in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the Second Division. He fought in D-Day, the Remagen Bridgehead Battle and the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
He was captain of the rescue squad and chief of the Cotuit Fire Department in the 1960s, and was also a police officer in Barnstable for several years. He was worked as a mechanic at Cape Motors and Central Cape Dodge.
Mr. Gomes was active in many projects, including cartography planning for numbering houses, raising money for the first Cotuit ambulance, restoration of the antique fire engine now used in parades, and the establishment of the Cotuit Fire Department Scholarship Fund. He also worked for the Barnstable Recreation Department, and was an umpire for Little League games.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also active in efforts to commemorate the Battle of the Bulge.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Gomes of Mashpee and Dorothy Carter; a son, Gary Gomes of Centerville; his former wife, Wilhelmina; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service was held in Marstons Mills Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cotuit Firemen's Association.

Ramond Hallett Jr.

South Yarmouth - Ramond Hallett Jr. died May 6, 2001, at Windsor Nursing Home in South Yarmouth.
He was the husband of Marilyn (Ellis) Hallett.
He was born and raised in Hyannis.
Mr. Hallett worked for Barnstable County Supply for many years and also at Harwich Concrete Block.
He enjoyed spending time at the ocean and with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Russell and Robert Hallett of Hyannis; three daughters, Sharon Norton of Hyannis, Betsy Hallett of Hyannis and Christine Hallett of South Dennis; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also the father of Michael and Douglas Hallett.
A graveside service was held at the Dennis Village Cemetery, Dennis.
