Shirley E. Watson, 76

West Yarmouth - Shirley E. Watson, 76, of West Yarmouth, died Oct. 16, 2001, at her home.
Born in Somerville, Mrs. Watson graduated from Somerville High School in 1942. She moved to the Cape in 1971.
She enjoyed ceramics and her friends at the Fashion Barn in Hyannis, where she worked until April.
Surviving are two sons, George Watson of South Yarmouth and Craig Watson of North Beach, Md.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held at the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home in South Yarmouth. Burial followed at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

George D. Abrahamson, 83

Cotuit - George D. Abrahamson, 83, died Oct. 28, 2001, at home.
He was the husband of Edith (Mandigo) Abrahamson.
Mr. Abrahamson was born and educated in Waltham.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Abrahamson was print supervisor for the Massachusetts Audubon Society in Lincoln. He worked there for 22 years until his retirement in 1983, at which time he moved from Sudbury to Cotuit.
He was a member of American Legion Post 156 in Waltham and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Maynard.
He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Carl D. Abrahamson of Mountain Home, Idaho, and George R. Abrahamson of Maynard; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Sean Michael Cooper, 22

Plymouth - Sean Michael Cooper, 22, a resident of Plymouth and previously of Sandwich, died Oct. 28, 2001, in a single-car accident in Marstons Mills.
Mr. Cooper grew up in Sandwich and attended Sandwich High School, graduating from Wareham High School's evening program.
He worked for six years at Pizzas By Evan in Sandwich and was recently promoted manager.
He was an outstanding drummer and played in two Cape bands.
Mr. Cooper was highly motivated, athletic and had a passion for football.
He was in his second year with the Hyannis Hurricanes, a semi-pro team that is part of the Eastern Football League, where he played fullback and linebacker and was known as "Mongo" and "Caveman."
Last year, he won the team's Unsung Hero award for his team spirit and devotion to the game, and he was scheduled to receive this year's Team Spirit award. His goal was to become a professional football player.
Surviving are his parents, Eileen and Stephen Cooper of New York; a grandmother, Kathleen Smyth; a grandfather, Jack Cooper; two uncles; an aunt; a cousin; and his longtime companion, Erika Croft.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Marriott Courtyard on Route 132 in Hyannis.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Epiphany Church in New York City. Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., after a graveside service.

Minnie F. DeAdder, 109

Barnstable - Minnie F. (Nash) DeAdder, 109, a longtime Barnstable resident, died Oct. 31, 2001, at Windsor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth.
She was the wife of the late Robert W. DeAdder.
Born, raised and educated in Westfield, Mrs. DeAdder married and moved back to Westfield for a short time before moving to Cape Cod.
She was a domestic housekeeper for several families on Cape Cod for more than 45 years.
Mrs. DeAdder was a member of the former Barnstable Baptist Church in Barnstable. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework and making clothes.
She is survived by a son, Robert S. DeAdder of Shrewsbury, N.J.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
A funeral service was held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis. Burial followed in Cummaquid Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Ester Lyyli Flinkman, 93

Centerville -- Ester Lyyli Flinkman, 93, a longtime teacher at Centerville Elementary School, died Oct. 27, 2001, at The Optimum Center for Care in Mashpee.
Born in Centerville, she graduated from Barnstable High School in 1026 and from the Normal School in 1928. She taught elementary grades in Harwich until 1943.
Leaving Cape Cod, she was employed by Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles, the Internal Revenue Service in San Francisco, and at Dallas City Hall in Texas before her return to the Cape in 1951.
Miss Flinkman taught in Bourne from 1951 through 1955, when she received her B.S. degree in education from Bridgewater State College. In 1955, she began teaching at Centerville Elementary School and retired in 1970.
Traveling and church attendance were her main interests.
She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. William Eugene Bachman (Geraldine) of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Mrs. Joseph L. Sousa (Alma Victoria) of Mesa, Ariz.
Services were held in Osterville with burial in Ancient Cemetery in Centerville.
Contributions may be made to the Osterville Baptist Church.

Philip J. Haggerty

Centerville - Philip J. Haggerty, a resident of Centerville, died Oct. 30, 2001.
He was the husband of Carole (Benedict) Haggerty.
Born in Framingham, Mr. Haggerty graduated from Merrimack College in 1956. He lived in Andover for 30 years and moved to Centerville 10 years ago.
Mr. Haggerty was a Korean-era Air Force veteran.
He retired from Wausau Insurance after 32 years.
Mr. Haggerty was a member of St. Michael's Church in North Andover and a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, where he was also a member of the Men's Guild and minister of hospitality.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Deborah Moser of Windham, N.H., Catherine Schelling of Derry, N.H., and Judith Haggerty of Windsor, Conn.; a son, Philip Haggerty of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, Thomas Haggerty of Portland, Maine, and John Haggerty of Hopkinton; three sisters, Helen Noonan of Virginia, Margaret Haggerty and Catherine Haggerty, both of Osterville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville, MA 02632.

Leo W. Lucas, 58

Hyannis - Leo W. Lucas, 58, of Hyannis, a longtime activist for people with disabilities, died Oct. 27, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital.
Mr. Lucas was born and raised in Provincetown and attended Cape Cod Community College and Northeastern University.
He worked for the Cape Organization for the Rights of the Disabled for three years and served on the board of directors for five years. Mr. Lucas was known as an articulate spokesman for the rights of the disabled on Cape Cod and in Boston and Washington , D.C. He testified numerous times on legislation affecting people with disabilities, and was part of a policy meeting with President Clinton and national disability rights leaders in 1996.
Mr. Lucas also was a member of the national disability group ADAPT, and he served on the board of directors of the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and the Islands.
Surviving are his mother, Eleanor M. Lucas of Centerville; a close friend, Collette Tupling of England; an aunt, Mary E. Knudson of Hyannis; and an uncle, Tony Lema of West Yarmouth.
A funeral was held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in St. Peter's Cemetery in Provincetown.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Organization for the Rights of the Disabled, 1019 Iyannough Road, No. 4, Hyannis, MA 02601.
