Robert A. Mitchell, 56

West Yarmouth - Robert A. Mitchell, 56, a resident of West Yarmouth, died Oct. 30, 2001, at his home.
He was the husband of Diann (McGrath) Mitchell for 35 years.
Born in Stamford, Conn., and raised in Greenwich, Conn., he was a 1964 graduate of Greenwich High School.
He was a Navy veteran.
In 1978, Mr. Mitchell moved to West Yarmouth from Stamford. He owned and operated a home and office cleaning business for the past 26 years in the Mid-Cape area. During the past 12 years, he was also employed as a night supervisor at the Barnstable County courts.
He enjoyed his family, his dogs, cars and making home improvements. He was also a New York Yankees fan.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Jean Mitchell of West Roxbury; a son, Thomas Mitchell of Hyannis; a sister, Judy O'Hagen of Stamford, Conn.; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service was held at the West Dennis Community Church, Route 28, West Dennis.

Sally E. Pessa, 73

Centerville - Sally E. (Barca) Pessa, 73, a resident of Centerville and Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Norwood, died Oct. 31, 2001, at her daughter's home in Duxbury.
She was the wife of the late Richard C. Pessa. Mrs. Pessa was a retired travel consultant and a director of Orenda Wildlife Trust.
She was also a member of the Hyannis Kiwanis Club and Long Beach Association, volunteer Special Olympics announcer, Cape Cod Hospital fund raiser, member of Cape Cod Computers for Seniors and past member of "Doric Dames" at Boston's Statehouse. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Laura Hurvitz of Duxbury; a son, Philip Pessa of Walpole; two brothers, Joseph Barca of Norwood and Guy Barca of Plymouth; three sisters, Joanne Dietrick of Marstons Mills, Marie Walsh of Centerville and Jeanne Upton of Osterville; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, with burial in Beechwood Cemetery there.
Memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Research, Thoracic Oncology, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.

Lawrence L. 'Larry' Rayment Sr., 92

Hyannis - Lawrence L. "Larry" Rayment Sr., 92, a resident of Hyannis, died Oct. 27, 2001, at Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville.
He was the husband of the late Lillian (Shepherd) Rayment.
Born in Whitman, Mr. Rayment lived in Hyannis for most of his life, except for a 10-year period when he lived in Deltona, Fla.
He was a graduate of Northeastern University.
Mr. Rayment was a World War II veteran, serving with the Naval Seabees.
He was a vice president of Commonwealth Electric in Hyannis for 37 years, retiring in 1971.
Mr. Rayment was an avid gardener and card player, and also loved to fish.
Surviving are two sons, Lawrence L. Rayment Jr. of Hyannis and David W. Rayment of Bow, N.H.; two daughters, Sharon Rayment of Hyannis and Cathleen Rayment; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his companion, Claudine LeMoine.
A memorial service was held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 286 South St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Ralph C. Rocheteau, 77

Hyannis - Ralph C. Rocheteau, 77, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 1, 2001, at home.
He was the husband of June (Mendes) Rocheteau of Hyannis.
Born, raised and educated in Provincetown, Mr. Rocheteau was drafted in the Army during World War II. He served in the 3rd Army 12th Corps, landing in Normandy on D-Day. He also served in campaigns in Northern Europe, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe.
He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, EAME Service Medal with one silver star, the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the ETO theater ribbon.
In 1947, Mr. Rocheteau married and moved to Hyannis, where he worked for Colonial Candle Co., Baxter's Transportation Co., Rusty's Plumbing and Heating Co. and the Barnstable Municipal Airport.
A communicant and Eucharist minister of St. Francis Xavier Church, he volunteered for their CCD program. He also volunteered for the Cape Cod Special Olympics and the Fresh Air Fund of New York City.
Mr. Rocheteau was a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society, a former member of the third degree of the Knights of Columbus Council 2525 of Hyannis and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lewis A. Young Post 2152 in Provincetown. He was the recipient of the Marian Medal presented by Bishop Daniel Cronin in 1999.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Ralph Rocheteau III of Homestead, Fla., Joseph Rocheteau of Quincy and Michael Rocheteau of Centerville; two daughters, Diane Rocheteau of Cambridge and JoAnn Rocheteau of Hyannis; a brother, Albert Rocheteau of Provincetown; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Paul Rocheteau and Stephen Rocheteau.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial with military honors followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Cod Special Olympics.

Edward R. Souza, 93

Marstons Mills- Edward R. Souza, 93, a resident of Marstons Mills, died Nov. 1, 2001, at the Center for Optimum Care in Mashpee.
He was the husband of Jeannette J. (Gedrocz) Souza.
Born in St. Michael's, Azores, Mr. Souza moved to Fall River in 1910. In 1917, he moved to Santuit where he was educated.
Mr. Souza was an Army veteran, serving in World War II.
He was a member of the Cotuit Federated Church and the Dennis Thomas Post Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hyannis.
Mr. Souza loved gardening and woodworking.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Edward A. Souza of Marstons Mills; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was the father of the late Virginia F. Souza.
A graveside service was held in Marstons Mills Cemetery.

Mary I. Upton, 71

Hyannis - Mary I. (Roderick) Upton, 71, died Oct. 28, 2001, at Cape Regency Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, raised in Falmouth and educated in Wareham, Mrs. Upton graduated from Wareham High School in 1948. She worked for Stanley Home products as a regional manager, and then devoted herself to raising her children. A cancer survivor, she was a very active volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was a past president and member of the Cape Cod Bowling League. Mrs. Upton enjoyed spending time with her 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Surviving are five sons, George Upton, Michael Upton, Jim Upton and Frank Upton, all of Hyannis, and Richard Upton of Arkansas; two daughters, Trudy Boisvert of Brewster and Lisa Jorgenson of Dennis; a brother, Frank Tonge of Colorado; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis. Burial followed in the Agawam Cemetery in Wareham.
Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association Adult Day Care Center, No. 1 290 Route 130, Sandwich, MA 02563.

Murray G. Bain, 75

Centerville - Murray G. Bain, 75, a lifelong resident of Cape Cod, died Nov. 3, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Patricia (Keaveney) Bain.
Mr. Bain was born in Hyannis and was a graduate of Barnstable High School and Pittsburgh School of Aeronautics.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the destroyer Duffy and the battleship U.S.S. Boston.
He was a firefighter, emergency medical technician and paramedic for the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department for 36 years.
A lifelong resident of Cape Cod, Mr. Bain enjoyed fishing, the ocean and his family.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Robert J. Bain of South Yarmouth and Peter M. Bain of Dover; and two grandsons.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
