Thomas N. Chamberlin, 78
Centerville - Thomas Norman Chamberlin, 78, a resident of Centerville, died June 2, 2002, at his home.
He was the husband of Judith A. (Case) Chamberlin.
Born in South Boston, Mr. Chamberlin graduated from South Boston High School and Northeastern University.
In World War II, he served in the Navy and was assigned to the Marines. He was a sergeant first class in the Army in the Korean War.
He lived in the Leominster area in the 1950s, and the Springfield area in the 1960s. He worked as a senior tax auditor for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, retiring in 1992.
On Cape Cod, he worked for the Environmental Corp., volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was an advocate for people in nursing homes with no family.
He sang with the Surf Tones.
Besides his wife, survivors include a stepson, Stephen Cochrane of East Haven, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Susan Nye of Brockton and Cheryl Whitaker of Centerville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills.
Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Nellie G. 'Natalie' Churchill, 89
Hyannis - Nellie G. "Natalie" (Woodman) Churchill, 89, a Hyannis resident, died June 1, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care-Pavilion after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late George E. Churchill.
Born in Westboro, Mrs. Churchill lived in Hyannis for many years. She worked for a brief period of time at Old Harbor Candle Co. in Hyannisport. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Churchill had been a member of Willing Hand Rebekah Lodge 139 of Hyannis. She was a past noble grand, a past district representative, past president of the Cape Cod Noble Grand Association, and was active with the Rebekah Social Club. She was very devoted to her family and church.
Survivors include a son, Peter W. Churchill of Randolph; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held in St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable. Burial was in Oak Neck Cemetery
in Hyannis.

Margaret C. Drifmeyer, 87
Centerville - Margaret C. (Chadwick) Drifmeyer, 87, a resident of Centerville, died June 6, 2002, at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care-Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Richard Drifmeyer of Centerville.
Born in Augusta, Ga., she resided in Richmond, Va.; Wilmington, N.C.; Washington , D.C.; Boston; Quincy; Scituate and Falls Church, Va.
She loved Cape Cod and was living in Centerville at the time of her death.
Mrs. Drifmeyer was a homemaker and foster parent for Boston Children's Services for more than 10 years. She helped to raise a total of 46 children.
She loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to being a nature and bird lover, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, music and was an avid reader.
She was also a communicant of the First Lutheran Church in West Barnstable.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Fred W. Drifmeyer of Centerville and Jeffrey W. Drifmeyer of Boerne, Texas ; a brother, William Chadwick of Vienna, Va.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews.
She was also the great-grandmother of the late Andrew Drifmeyer.
A funeral was held at the First Lutheran Church in West Barnstable.
Burial followed in Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.

Margaret 'Peg' Frederiksen, 77
Barnstable - Margaret "Peg" (Cahill) Frederiksen, 77, a resident of Barnstable, died May 30, 2002, at her home.
She was the wife of Henning "Hank" Frederiksen.
Mrs. Frederiksen was born in Watertown and was a Plainville resident for 40 years. She spent summers in Barnstable, moving to Barnstable full time 10 years ago. The Frederiksens also were winter residents of Long Boat Key, Fla.
A homemaker, she was also an avid golfer. She was a member of the Kings Way Golf Club in Yarmouthport and a past member of the Foxboro Country Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Ruggiero of Natick and Carol Graham of Burlington; three grandchildren; two sisters; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Martha's Church in Plainville, with burial following in Plainville Cemetery.
Kathleen A. Horton, 93
Osterville - Kathleen A. (Nickerson) Horton, 93, a resident of Osterville, died June 3, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community-Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of Malcolm L. Horton for 69 years.
Born in Taunton, Mrs. Horton lived there before moving to Cape Cod 49 years ago.
Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Ruthann Smith of Osterville; and two grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held in Mosswood Cemetery
in Cotuit.

Janice Ruth (Jacobson) Kavanaugh, 64
Pinckney, Mich. Janice Ruth (Jacobson) Kavanaugh, 64, formerly of Hyannis, died June 1, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, William; a sister, Marilyn Ferber of Salem; and a brother, Russell Jacobson of Osterville.

Francis L. McGillen, 86
West Barnstable - Francis L. McGillen, 86, a resident of West Barnstable, died June 3, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Lois B. McGillen, who died in 1994.
Born in Haverhill, he lived in Barnstable since 1928 and graduated from Barnstable High School in 1935. He played football for Barnstable High School and Barnstable Townies
Mr. McGillen worked at New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1980 as a construction supervisor.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Hyannis Lodge of Elks and St. Francis Xavier in Hyannis.
An avid Patriots fan, he also loved animals.
Survivors include three sons, James F. McGillen II of Osterville, John P. McGillen and Ralph J. McGillen, both of West Barnstable; a daughter, Ruth M. Jenkins of West Barnstable; a sister, Jeanette Mikesell of The Colony, Texas ; 11 grandchildren; a friend, Patricia Atkins of Marstons Mills; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline Pierce, 86
Centerville - Pauline (Chaffee) Pierce, 86, a resident of Centerville, died June 3, 2002, at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.
She was the wife of the late George L. Pierce.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Red Beach, Maine. During World War II, she was on the executive board of the USO.
She served for many years as chairwoman of Cape Cod Hospital Gray Lady Volunteers. She was on the executive board of the West Yarmouth Matrons Club, where she held various leadership positions, including president.
Mrs. Pierce was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She was a communicant of the Federated Church of Hyannis.
Survivors include three sons, George L. Pierce Jr. of Southbridge, Gregory C. Pierce of Topsham, Maine, and Richard C. Pierce of North Reddington Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery
in Hyannis.
