Michael Proc, 84

Barnstable - Michael Proc, 84, a resident of Barnstable, died May 31, 2002.
He was the husband of Laura Proc, who died in 1993. They were married for more than 50 years.
Mr. Proc was born in Woonsocket, R.I., and moved to Hyannis in 1939.
A World War II veteran, he was a member of the West Yarmouth Post of the American Legion 197 and a member of the Cotuit Grange.
Mr. Proc was a commercial bus driver who had driven more than four million miles and was a member of Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1365. In 1952, after being caught in a blizzard, it took him 17 hours to get to Hyannis from Providence, R.I., and he had to spend the night in the Dan'l Webster Inn with many of the passengers.
He was a licensed pilot since 1945. He was also an avid gardener and loved to feed and watch the birds.
Surviving are a son, Michael C. Proc of Barnstable; and two brothers, Philip Proc and John Proc, both of Fall River.
A graveside service was held in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

William 'Patrick' Turner, 46

Centerville - William "Patrick" Turner, 46, a Centerville resident, died June 2, 2002, at his home.
Born in Lancaster, Pa., Mr. Turner spent his childhood in Bass River. He graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.
He made his career in the Coast Guard and was a reserve officer in Woods Hole. He was also a civilian employee of the Boston Logistics Division at the time of his death. He received numerous awards for achievement including a Presidential Medal for his work on a Y2K task force in Washington , D.C.
He was well-known to the boating community on Cape Cod as a masterful boat handler and expert on all things marine. He was active in the Boy Scouts with his son.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine M. Turner; a son, William T. Turner; a sister, Kathleen Pratt of Cotuit; his former wife, Barbara Henderson Turner; a niece; several cousins; and his friend, Bonnie Rafer of Maryland.
Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Memorial donations for the children's education may be made to Holy Trinity School, attn: Sr. Carol Clifford, P.O. Box 163, West Harwich, MA 02671; or to the charity of one's choice.

Peter B. Waage, 60

Centerville - Peter B. Waage, 60, a resident of Centerville, died June 7, 2002, at his home following a brief illness.
He was the husband of Beverly A. (Wilanson) Waage since 1963.
Mr. Waage was born, raised and educated in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y. He served with the Army at Fort Dix, N.J., and at Natick Quartermaster R&D Laboratories.
He studied engineering and drafting and was a graduate of Wentworth Technical Institute. He worked as a mechanical designer with Bird Johnson of Walpole for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He had most recently worked for Anchor Hardware in Sandwich.
Mr. Waage had resided in Franklin and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He moved to Centerville two years ago. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating and the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Scott P. Waage of Branchburg, N.J.; two daughters, Kimberly A. MacLeod of Hyannis and Kerry A. Shastany of East Sandwich; two brothers, Richard Waage of Dix Hills, Long Island, N.Y., and Frederick Waage of Florida; and five grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Dorothy Ellis Weston, 99

Yarmouth - Dorothy Ellis Weston, formerly of Yarmouth, died June 6, 2002, at Rosewood Manor in Harwich.
She was the wife of Ralph D. Weston, who practiced law for a total of 49 years in Boston. They were married in 1925.
Born in Foxboro, Mrs. Weston came to live in Yarmouth when she was 5 years old. She was educated in the Yarmouth and Barnstable public schools. In 1924, she graduated from Boston University Law School. In 1984, on her 60th alumni reunion, she was awarded a juris doctor degree from Boston University Law School.
Mr. and Mrs. Weston lived in Auburndale in Newton. After her children entered school, she became an instructor in business law at Lasell Junior College, teaching there for 15 years.
In her retirement, she devoted much of her time to the study and acquisition of antiques. She also wrote the book, Henry's Cape Cod, about her father, a Cape Cod attorney and representative in the state Legislature.
After graduating from high school, Mrs. Weston went straight to law school where she had to prove herself among college graduates. She graduated as one of only 15 women among 300 men in her class. She showed this same feistiness as she coped with blindness and the infirmities of living to be almost 100 years old.
Mrs. Weston considered herself a real Cape Codder. Her mother was a descendant of William Nickerson, the founder of Chatham. Her father's side traces back to Deacon Henry Cobb, head of the East Parish Church, Cobb Hill and Barnstable.
In later years, she resided at Thirwood Place and in her final year, she was a resident at Rosewood Manor.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally W. Hansen and Cynthia W. Mobraaten; a son, Ralph D. Weston, Jr.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Robert E. Crockett, 79

Harwich Port - Robert E. Crockett, 79, a resident of Harwich Port and formerly of Hyannis, died April 3, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness.
He was the husband of Patricia (Galvin) Crockett of Harwich Port.
Mr. Crockett was born in Providence, R.I., and raised and educated in Newport, R.I., where he graduated from Rogers High School.
He enlisted in the Army during World II and served with the Company B 53D Signal Battalion in European and African-Middle Eastern theaters. Among the medals he received was the Silver Star. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Crockett began working for New England Telephone Co. in the Rhode Island area. He married and moved briefly to Falmouth before moving to Hyannis, where he lived until moving to Harwich Port in 1999.
He worked for New England Telephone in the New England region as a telephone toll testman, retiring in 1984.
While living in Hyannis, he was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, and while in Harwich Port, he was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich.
He was a life member of the Dennis F. Thomas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2578 in Hyannis, a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Mr. Crockett loved to swim and bike ride, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was very involved in and volunteered to be in a study to help find a cure for Wegener's granulomatosis.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Robert G. Crockett of Arlington, Va., Patrick Crockett of Los Osos, Calif., and James M. Crockett of Hyannis; two daughters, Mary Levy of Harwich and Carol Anne DeLuca of Bourne; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich.
Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hyannis Public Library, 401 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Thomas W. Fiske, 80

Cotuit - Thomas W. Fiske, 80, a resident of Cotuit, died April 2, 2002, at Norwood Hospital.
He was the husband of Idabelle F. (King) Fiske, who died in 1989.
Born in Boston, he graduated from Quincy High School in 1939.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was a retired master sergeant with the 102nd Air National Guard.
He was a member of the China-Burma Association.
Mr. Fiske was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brockton and a past Grand Knight.
He loved golf and worked at both New Seabury Country Club and Otis Golf Club.
Surviving are a son, Brian T. Fiske of Walpole; a brother, Louis Fiske; a sister, Frances DiTullio; two grandsons; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in the Massachusetts Military Reservation Chapel in Bourne, with burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery there.

Patricia Crosby Pemberton, 61

Osterville - Patricia Ellen Crosby Pemberton, 61, a lifelong resident of Osterville who with her husband founded Software 2000 (now Infinium), died April 4, 2002, of pancreatic cancer at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of Robert A. Pemberton for 39 years.
Mrs. Pemberton was raised in Osterville. She graduated from Barnstable High School, where she was a member of the band, orchestra and chorus.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in French from Regis College in Weston in 1962, she returned to Osterville and taught for several years in public schools.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Pemberton was the center of her extended family, as well as a part of life in Osterville village.
While her family was her primary focus, she also left an important mark through her work. In 1981, she and her husband founded Software 2000, in a back room of their Osterville home.
The company, a developer of business application software, was the first major technology firm on Cape Cod. It grew to have annual revenues of more than $120 million and at one time employed more than 600 people.
Mrs. Pemberton worked at Software 2000/Infinium for 20 years. She was well-known for her frugality and cost control - it was common for employees to joke about trying to "get an expense by Pat."
Most of all, however, she was known at work for her spirit and mothering nature toward those who worked there.
Mrs. Pemberton was active in the choir at Our Lady of the Assumption Church since her childhood and a parishioner there her entire life. She loved to sing and played the saxophone, piano and organ, often practicing at her home in the early mornings.
She also enjoyed gardening, daily walks to the beach and village, playing with her grandchildren, and simply spending time at or near her home.
She traveled regularly to Europe, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. In recent years, she spent much time with her husband and family on their sailboats, Ghost Dancer and Sea Hound, in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and local Cape waters.
Her favorite destination and second home of sorts was St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, which she and her family visited frequently over the past 10 years.
Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Helen (Fitzgerald) Crosby of Osterville; a sister, Gail Crosby Trafton of Quincy and Osterville; her children, Robert Carter Pemberton of Osterville, Julianne Pemberton and Brian Pemberton, both of Boston and Osterville; three grandchildren; and three nieces.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville, with burial following in Hillside Cemtery.
