Robert 'Bob' Barnet, 82

Barnstable - Robert "Bob" Barnet, 82, died Oct. 18 at his home, encircled by his family, after a short illness with cancer.
He leaves Judith (Mayer) Barnet, his wife of 52 years.
Born at home on Marlborough Street in Boston, he attended Rivers School and graduated from Philips Exeter Academy in 1938 and Harvard College in 1942.
In the Navy during World War II, he commanded the USS Algorma from 1942 to 1945, participating in the D-Day invasion of Normandy.
Mr. Barnet centered his life around family and service to others. Dubbed "Cape Cod's favorite treasurer," he served in that capacity for the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, the Aletta Root Scholarship Fund, the Cape Cod Skating Club, the Cape Cod Harvard Club, and the Barnstable Yacht Club. He was also moderator of the Barnstable Unitarian Church and president of Housing Assistance Corp. An active Rotarian, Mr. Barnet worked with the business community from his offices at E.F. Hutton and Paine Webber, from which he retired in 1990.
Mr. Barnet was a die-hard Red Sox fan and loved boating. He captained the classic wooden yacht Algorma II on Barnstable Harbor from 1968 to 2002.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, David M. Barnet of Middlesex, N.Y. and Peter H. Barnet of Marblehead; a daughter, Margot R. Barnet of Worcester; two brothers, Howard J. Barnet Jr. of Sherborn and James R. Barnet of Concord; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Barnstable Village on Nov. 9 at noon.

Harrison F. Bracket, 81

Sarasota, Fla. - Harrison Fuller Bracket, 81, a former resident of Cape Cod, died Oct. 13, 2002.
He was the husband of Bernice Brackett, his wife of 45 years.
Born in Cotuit, he lived on the Cape until 1952, when he moved to Sarasota.
Mr. Brackett was the former co-owner and publisher of SEE magazine in Sarasota.
He was a graduate of Duke University in North Carolina, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Covenant Life Presbyterian Church in Sarasota.
Besides his wife, Mr. Brackett is survived by a son, Christopher F. Brackett of Sarasota; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in November in Sarasota.

Aurelio J. 'Bill' Di Muzio, 82

Cotuit - Aurelio J. "Bill" Di Muzio, 82, a resident of Cotuit and formerly of Newton and Framingham, died recently at Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville after an illness with cancer.
He was the husband of Eleanor F. (Tresca) Di Muzio for 59 years.
A graduate of Newton schools, Mr. Di Muzio was a master machinist. He was a veteran of the Pacific theater in World War II, where he was a member of the Medical Corps and attained the rank of master sergeant.
After the war he worked as a machinist at General Electric, then for Tresca Brothers Sand & Gravel, from which he retired.
Mr. Di Muzio was a life member of the American Legion and a former post commander of George D. Carson Post 141 in Newton.
He moved to Cape Cod in 1992. An avid golfer, he was a member of Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Course, where he several times shot below his age. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening and especially time spent with his family.
He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee, where he was a member of the Men's Club and served as an usher.
Besides his wife, survivors include three sons, David Di Muzio of Grand Rapids, Mich., Paul Di Muzio of Wilbraham and Alan Di Muzio of Cotuit; a brother, Carmen "Charlie" Di Muzio of Pocasset; a sister, Adelaide Lalli of Newton; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King Church, with burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parish of Christ the King, P.O. Box 1800, Mashpee, MA 02649.

Bessie E. Hinds, 94

Hyannis - Bessie E. Hinds, 94, a resident of Hyannis and formerly of Florida, died Oct. 12, 2002, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Kenneth G. Hinds.
Mrs. Hinds was born in Burgaw, N.C. She attended Girls High School in Philadelphia and State Teachers College in Glassboro, N.J. In 1967, she was licensed in the state of New York as a practical nurse.
Mrs. Hinds graduated from Cape Cod Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She worked at Cape Cod Hospital for seven years, and also spent many years in private-duty nursing.
She was also the owner of several cottages and guest rooms for more than 20 years, prior to her retirement in 1980.
In 1988, Mrs. Hinds moved to Orlando, Fla., and then returned to Cape Cod in 1991. She was a member of the Zion Union Church in Hyannis.
She is survived by many family members.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at Zion Union Church.

Joseph R. Masil, 46

Barnstable - Dr. Joseph R. Masil, 46, a resident of Barnstable, died Oct. 17, 2002, at his home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Morag (Glasson) Masil.
Dr. Masil was born and raised in southern India.
He graduated with honors from St. Xavier's College in Palai, India, in 1970, and earned a MBBS degree from St. John's Medical College in Bangalore in 1976.
Dr. Masil moved to London and in 1984 became a licentiate of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London and a fellow in the Royal College of Surgeons (general surgery).
In 1990, he became a fellow in the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
In 1992, he moved to the United States and attended Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, completing his first year residency in psychiatry.
From 1993 to 1995, he completed his second- and third-year residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and then did a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Brown University in Providence, R.I.
From 1977 to 1978, Dr. Masil worked as house physician at Holy Cross Hospital in Quilon, India, continued in private practice in Azhagzi from 1978 to 1980, and was a National Health Service physician in Great Britain from 1981 to 1992.
In 1995, he joined Cape Cod Hospital as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and had recently started his own private practice.
He held numerous memberships, including the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Board of Forensic Examiners, American Society of Addiction Medicine, and British Medical Association.
He was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth and the Highland Light Scottish Society.
He had been a co-worker of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and was a Samaritan for 15 years.
Surviving besides his wife are his mother, Gnanarethinam Masil of India; his children, Iona R. Masil and Emily M. Masil, both of Barnstable, and Anuja Masil of India; two brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth.

Freida M. Peterson, 94

West Yarmouth - Freida M. (Fletcher) Peterson, 94, a resident of West Yarmouth and formerly of West Hyannisport, died Oct. 15, 2002, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after an illness.
She was the wife of the late Alvah E. Peterson and the late Donald N. White .
Born, raised and educated in Hyde Park, Mrs. Peterson lived in Watertown until moving to West Hyannisport in 1960. She moved to South Yarmouth in 1987 and to West Yarmouth in 2000.
Mrs. Peterson was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross in Hyannis during the 1960s and 1970s. She also volunteered as a health aide on Cape Cod for many years.
A former member of the Hyannis Garden Club, she enjoyed knitting and braiding rugs.
Survivors include a son, Richard S. White of Centerville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece.
A funeral was held at the United Methodist Church of South Yarmouth., with burial in Beechwood Cemetery in Centerville.

Harold F. Still, Jr., 79

Barnstable ­ Harold F. Still, Jr., 79, a resident of Barnstable and Rydal, Penn., died recently of liver cancer at his home in Pennsylvania .
He was the husband of Virginia "GeGe" Still for 55 years.
Born in Boston and raised in Needham, and in Jenkintown, Penn., he graduated form Jenkintown High School and Amherst College.
During World War II, he served primarily in the Mediterranean, and also participated in the invasion of southern France in 1944.
His career in commercial banking commenced with a period of training with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. For the next 40 years, he led Central Penn Bank and its successor, Meridian Bank, until his retirement in 1988.
After retirement, he spent his time equally between his cottage in Barnstable, a home in Harbour Ridge, Fla., and his original home, with proximity to his grandchildren, in Philadelphia.
He loved sports and played on his high school and college tennis, squash, and golf teams. He was an active member of Hyannisport Golf Club, Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club, Pine Valley Golf Club, Seaview Country Club, and Harbour Ridge Golf Club. At Hyannisport, he was the Senior Club Champion for three years running in the early 1990s. He played in the Philadelphia Suburban League for more than 30 years as a member of Manufacturers'. At one time, he was named by Fortune magazine as one of the "Top CEO Golfers" in the country.
Mr. Still took active leadership roles with the United Way of Philadelphia; his church home, Grace Presbyterian Church; and Abington Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Union League Club.
He participated on numerous alumni boards on behalf of Amherst College, which honored him with its Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002. He interest in Amherst continued wit the graduation of one of his sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren from the college.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, David B. Still of Rosemont, Penn., John D. Still of Oreland, Penn., and James S. Still or Oreland; a sister, Barbara Ritter; and eight grandchildren.
A private interment will be in Lothrop Cemetery in Barnstable Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. Those wishing to pay their respects may attend a reception at the Hyannisport Club from noon to 3 p.m.
