Dorothy May Drake, 79

Hyannis - Dorothy May (Cort) Drake, 79, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 3, 2003, at her home.
She was the wife of Earle Richard Drake since 1973.
Mrs. Drake was born, raised and educated in Taunton.
After graduating from Taunton High School she went to work for the telephone company, where she worked until retiring in the 1970s and moving to Hyannis with her husband.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and enjoyed antiques.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Patricia Conley Daby of West Boylston; a sister, Florence Palko of Dover, Del.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two nephews.
A funeral was held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Middleboro.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Hyannis, MA 02601; or to the charity of one's choice.

Guy Darby Drake, 47

Hyannis - Guy Darby Drake, 47, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 3, 2003, in Key West, Fla., while traveling home.
He was the former husband of Bonnie J. Drake.
Mr. Drake was born in West Virginia and spent summers on Cape Cod. He moved here in his early teens and graduated valedictorian and class president from Barnstable High School in 1974. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and majored in horticulture. Shortly after, he started his travels, extending throughout Central America.
He enjoyed traveling, studying religion and language. He also loved gardening, nature, the Lord and his family. He was a writer, poet and artist whose creativity spawned an innovative fish-farming system. For many years, he fished commercially out of Hyannis.
Surviving besides his former wife are his father, Guy Drake Sr.; four children, Lucas Brendan Darby Drake, James Robert Darby Drake, Joseph Micha Darby Drake and Kateri Juli-Ann Drake; two stepchildren, Kelly Jean Lawson and Sienna Rose; a sister, Carol Joy Prebianco; a brother, David Drake; a niece; a nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in the St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.

Adam C. 'Artie' Heck, 88

Osterville - Adam C. "Artie" Heck, 88, of Osterville, died Jan. 11, 2003, at the Cape Regency Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Centerville.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Banking and the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard University Business School.
He was the husband of the late Ester J (Engellau) Heck for 60 years.
Mr. Heck served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star while serving as an infantry captain on Luzon in the Phillipines.
Mr. Hecked worked on Wall Street at the Chase Manhattan Bank for 40 years. He moved to Massachusetts in 1970, where he was the president of Chase Manhattan Mortgage and Realty Trust until his retirement in 1980.
He enjoyed golfing and swimming.
He is survived by a son, Gary Heck of Zionsville, Ind., a daughter, Judy Heck of Arlington; and two grandchildren.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Healthcare Foundation of Cape Cod, 4 Bayview St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Katherine Worthen Horton, 43

Pensacola, Fla. - Katherine Worthen (Andrews) Horton, 43, a former resident of Centerville, died Jan. 4, 2003, as a result of a hit-and-run accident in Pensacola.
She was the former wife of Steve Horton of Franklin, N.C.
Mrs. Horton was born in Fall River and raised in Barrington, R.I., and Centerville. She lived most of her adult life in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. She was employed as a service employee in the hospitality and restaurant industries.
Surviving besides her former husband are her parents, Alan Andrews of Albuquerque, N.M., and Patricia (Roe) Manly of Brookline; a daughter, Brenna Faye Horton of Franklin, N.C.; and a sister, Leigh Heinz of Foxboro.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River.

Annie Hull, 75

Hyannis - Annie (Pina) Hull, 75, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 6, 2003, at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Samuel W. Hull, Sr.
Mrs. Hull was born and raised in Marstons Mills and graduated from Barnstable High School in 1946. She lived in Marstons Mills until moving to New Bedford and then to Germany. She returned to the U.S. and resided in Hyannis, where she lived for many years.
While living on Cape Cod, she worked for F.W. Woolworth and Jordan Marsh department stores as a sales representative. She also worked as a housekeeper for Angell Motel and as a nurse's aide for Whitehall Nursing Home.
She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, and a Fresh Air Kids sponsor. She loved playing bingo and was known as "Lucky Annie." She also enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Samuel W. Hull Jr. of Harwich and Steven P. Hull of Great Barrington; four daughters, Camilla M. Pope of Atlanta, Rebecca L. Hull of Brewster, Rachael E. Hull of South Dennis and Jessica J. Hull of New Bedford; a brother, Joseph F. Pina of Osterville; two sisters, Mary Mitte and Laura Andrade of New Bedford; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Sandra A. Hull.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.

Alice L. Lorrett, 92

Hyannis - Alice L. (Burke) Lorrett, 92, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 1, 2003, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Arthur B. Lorrett.
Mrs. Lorrett was born in Brockton and attended Barnstable schools. She worked for many years for New England Telephone as an operator, retiring in the early 1960s.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, loved knitting mittens for the Hyannis Public Library for gifts to children's charities, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Red Sox.
Surviving are a son, John F. Lorrett of Hyannis; a daughter, Lillian L. Harne of Peoria, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

B. Eurdeane Lynch, 75

Hyannis - B. Eurdeane (Coughlin) Lynch, 75, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 2, 2003, at Windsor Nursing Home in South Yarmouth after a long illness.
Ms. Lynch was born and raised in Hyannis and educated in Barnstable schools. She was a lifelong resident of Hyannis.
She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis and she loved the beach.
She is survived by a son, Trevor M. Peterson of Hyannis; two daughters, Bridget A. Ribar of Park Ridge, N.J., and Erin P. Van De Stadt of Salem; a brother, George I. Coughlin of Centerville; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills.

Louise Mildred McLean, 96

Hyannis - Louise Mildred (Taylor) McLean, 96, a resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 7, 2003, in Marion.
She was the wife of the late Gordon J.B. McLean.
Mrs. McLean was born in Boston and grew up in Hopedale. After high school, she attended the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1926. She taught nursing at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, working until 1938. She raised her family in Belmont, summered on Cape Cod for years in Craigville and wintered in Boca Raton, Fla. In 1984, she became a resident of the Cape.
Mrs. McLean was a Red Cross volunteer in blood donation during World War II and the Korean War. She also was president of Peter Bent Brigham Alumni Association.
Surviving are a son, Keith McLean of Belmont; three daughters, Kathy Gillis of West Tisbury, Judy Hargreaves of Hyannis and Ann Sund of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Norman Taylor of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held in the South Congregational Church in Centerville. Burial followed in Beechwood Cemetery there.

Joseph Roppolo, 93

Centerville - Joseph Roppolo, 93, a resident of Centerville, died Jan. 7, 2003, of complications from congestive heart failure and bladder cancer.
He was the husband of Anne (Giurlando) Roppolo, who died in April 2002. They were married for 62 years.
A native of Queens, N.Y., Mr. Roppolo lived in Queens Village for 17 years, moving to Long Island in the early 1970s. For more than 30 years, he was operations manager for Inter-County Clearance Co. in New York City.
After retiring in 1979, he played in chamber groups and symphony orchestras. He played second violin with the Senior "Pops" Orchestra of Long Island for 20 years and also played with the Massapequa Philharmonic.
In 1998 he and his wife moved from Massapequa, Long Island, to live in Centerville with their daughter, Joanne, and granddaughter, Leia. Mr. Roppolo spent time at Centerville's adult day care program and with the town's caregivers' respite program.
He was passionate about chamber music and enjoyed telling stories. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Joanne Irwin of Centerville and Naples, Fla.; a brother, Steve Roppolo of Kinderhook, N.Y.; a sister, Millie Roppolo of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; a granddaughter; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills. Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to the Senior "Pops" Orchestra of Long Island, P.O. Box 1473, Melville, NY 11747.
