Eugene B. Pelkey, 82

Hyannis - Eugene B. Pelkey, 82, of Hyannis died Jan. 11, 2003, after an illness.
He was the husband of May (Murphy) Pelkey, who died in 1984.
Mr. Pelkey was born in Worcester and attended Worcester Boys Trade High School. During World War II, he served in the Army as a technical sergeant in the 103rd Port Marine Maintenance Co. stationed in England and LeHavre, France.
After the war, he taught in the electrical department of his former high school for 20 years. While living in Northborough from 1953 to 1969, he served as chairman of both the Northborough School Committee and the Algonquin Regional High School District School Committee.
In 1969, he moved to Hyannis and taught in the electrical department of Upper Cape Cod Regional Vocational Technical School in Bourne for five years and at Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Harwich for two years.
He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 206 in Hyannis and loved reading, playing bingo and always had a joke or story to tell.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Fonseca of Hyannis; two sons, David Pelkey of Gaithersburg, Md., and Gary Pelkey of Philadelphia; two brothers, Edward Pelkey of Northborough and Robert Pelkey of Boylston; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Robert T. 'Bob' Potter, 80

Cotuit - Robert T. "Bob" Potter, 80, of Cotuit died Jan. 13, 2003, at Cape Cod Hospital.
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Peirce) Potter for 56 years.
Mr. Potter enlisted in the Navy Air Corps and served for three years during World War II. Upon his discharge, he returned to New England Telegraph & Telephone Co., where he worked for 411/2 years, retiring in 1982 as district manager. He was district manager of the Cape & Islands from 1965 to 1974. He lived in Taunton, North Easton and Cotuit for the last 19 years.
He was a navigational pilot and past lieutenant commander in the Cape Cod Power Squadron of Harwich, and was very active in the Junior Youth Hockey League of Easton. He also was an avid golfer and a member of the Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds golf course and the Cotuit Federated Church.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Diane Potter Looney of Lake Ridge, Va., and Leslie Potter MacKinnon of Hingham; two sons, Robert Gary Potter of Manassas, Va., and William James Potter of Lakeville; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in Cotuit Federated Church. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.

Cynthia Yvette Twyman, 64

Hyannis - Cynthia Yvette Twyman, 64, of Hyannis died Jan. 13, 2003, at the Mary McCarthy Hospice House in Sandwich of heart complications after a battle with cancer.
Ms. Twyman was born, raised and educated in Washington , D.C. She attended Howard University for three years and was a graduate of Sacramento State College with a degree in psychology. She had lived in the Sacramento area for several years and later moved to Hyannis after retiring in 1995.
She loved reading, the ocean and the beach.
Surviving are her mother, Winifred (Miller) Twyman of Hyannis; an uncle; and many cousins.

Blake Louis Wellbeloved

Cotuit - Blake Louis Wellbeloved, born Dec. 25, 2002, died at 5:16 a.m. the same day. He was 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and 22 inches long.
He is survived by his mother, Nicole Renée Wellbeloved; his father, Blair Douglas Wellbeloved; and a 21/2-year-old brother, Trey Robert Wellbeloved.

Donald B. Baker Sr., 90

Hyannis - Donald B. Baker Sr., 90, a lifelong resident of Hyannis, died Jan. 19, 2003, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community - Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Damon) Baker.
Mr. Baker was born and raised in Hyannis and educated in Barnstable schools.
He served in the Army infantry during World War II, and was honorably discharged with the rank of private in 1945. In 1946, Mr. Baker began driving for the former Hall's Cleaners with a route that took him from Yarmouthport to Provincetown. When Hall's closed, Mr. Baker continued to provide services to his customers until he retired in the 1990s.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans Association. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hyannis.
Mr. Baker enjoyed baseball and spending time with family. He had a passion for fishing on Sundays on Cape Cod ponds and lakes.
Survivors include two sons, Donald B. Baker Jr. of Dennis and Douglas Baker of Belchertown; two daughters, Virginia Libby of West Yarmouth and Kerry Boning of Centerville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his companion of 11 years, Margaret Goulding of West Yarmouth.
A funeral was held in the First Baptist Church of Hyannis, with burial following in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hyannis, 486 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601; or to the charity of one's choice.

Jane Burke, 71

West Barnstable - Jane Munsill Burke, 71, of West Barnstable, died Jan. 19, 2003, at Harborside Healthcare in Mashpee.
Mrs. Burke was born in New York City and graduated from the Westover School in Connecticut. As a young girl, she summered on Cape Cod with her family, and in the mid-1950s she moved to the Cape with her husband. In the late 1950s she bought Seaflash Farm in West Barnstable and was an equestrian instructor for 45 years, retiring from the business a year ago.
A member of the Cape Cod Trail Riders Association, she was very active in the equestrian community. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, floral design, pencil art and writing poetry.
Surviving are a son, Michael A. Burke of West Barnstable; five daughters, Mary E. Burke of Lewisville, S.C., and Melanie A. Burke, Kathleen H. Burke-Cocklereece, Patricia H. Burke and Sally N. Burke, all of West Barnstable; a brother, Marcus M. Munsill of Rumford, R.I.; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable..

Margaret Ducott Carr, 80

Centerville - Margaret (Corey) Ducott Carr, 80, of Centerville died Jan. 19, 2003, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Joseph R. Carr.
Mrs. Carr grew up in Hyde Park and Readville, and after high school attended Fisher College. She worked for the telephone company during World War II and belonged to the Repertoire Theater, performing cabaret-style shows for the local USO clubs during the war. She continued her love for theater throughout her life with the Century Players in Stoughton, the Victory Players and the Victrola Society in Centerville.
She was a eucharistic minister at St. Bernadette's in Randolph and Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville and was a leader in RCIA. She spent many years doing volunteer work for the Catholic Church, the homeless and the sick.
Later, she became the first female police officer in the town of Stoughton, and was very active in politics, becoming an executive secretary for the state Legislature in the early 1960s. After retiring, she traveled around the world with her husband and made many pilgrimages to Medgiouri.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Lori Johnson of Marstons Mills; two sons, Paul DuCott of Canton and Gary Ducott of Danville, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, followed by burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Annemarie Floyd, 57

West Barnstable - Annemarie (Cook) Floyd, 57, of West Barnstable, died Jan. 19, 2003, at the Mary McCarthy House in Sandwich after a long illness.
She was the wife of Robert E. Floyd.
Born in Boston, she graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1964. A longtime resident of Hyde Park, she moved to West Barnstable 13 years ago. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Advanced Environmental in South Dennis. She enjoyed reading and traveling.
Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Denise A. Mowles of Mansfield; a son, Dennis G. Girvan of Walpole; a stepson, Bruce Floyd of Anchorage, Alaska; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Floyd of Orleans; five sisters, Joan Meehan of North Palm Beach, Fla., Elaine Kuhns of Pembroke, Judy Villa and Janet Cook, both of Centerville, and Donna O'Neil of Mashpee; two brothers, Richard Cook of North Palm Beach, Fla., and Gary Cook of Plymouth; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Christ the King Church in Mashpee, with burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Richard B. Greenman, 97

Marstons Mills - Richard B. Greenman, 97, of Marstons Mills died Jan. 19, 2003, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Eleanor (Holden) Greenman, who died in 1985. They were married for 55 years.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., Mr. Greenman graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1923, Harvard University in 1927 and Boston University School of Education in 1939. He spent 44 years in the Acton and Swansea school systems as a teacher, principal and superintendent. He retired to Cape Cod from Swansea in 1962, and taught at Nauset Regional High School from 1962 to 1971.
Mr. Greenman was a cello player for the Cape Symphony in Yarmouthport from 1963 to 1986. He was cemetery commissioner for the town of Harwich from 1973 to 1990 and cemetery administrator from 1985 to 1990. He was a member of AARP and the Harvard Club of Cape Cod, and a 75-year Mason, most recently of St. Martin's Lodge AF&AM, Chatham. He loved teaching, music, people, travel and playing Scrabble.
Surviving are two sons, David Greenman of Marstons Mills and Peter Greenman of Block Island, R.I.; a daughter, Dorothy Ketchum of Plaistow, N.H.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a niece.
A memorial service was held at First Parish Brewster Unitarian Church in Brewster.
