Mary Ann Messier, 38

Attleboro Falls - Mary Ann Messier, 38, of Freeman Street died Tuesday evening, January 9, 2001 at her home in Attleboro Falls of complications due to Down’s Syndrome.

Born August 27, 1962 in Attleboro, she was a daughter of Adrienne (Dubuc) Messier and the late Henry C. Messier.

Mary Ann was a resident of Attleboro Falls for the past 11 years and previously resided in the Hebronville section Attleboro. She attended Attleboro public schools.

She worked as an assembler at Attleboro Enterprises, Inc. in North Attleboro for the past 14 years.

She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church in Attleboro Falls.

Besides her mother, survivors include; a brother, Charles H. Messier of Rehoboth; three sisters, Elise Servant of Attleboro Falls and Suzette Riley and Celeste Conlan, both of Attleboro; 12 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 12th at 10 A.M. in St. Mark’s Church, Attleboro Falls with the Reverend Edward Healey, Rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River officiating. Burial followed in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Ann’s memory may be made to Attleboro Enterprises, Inc. Day Rehab., 284 John Dietsch Blvd., North Attleboro, MA 02763.

Janet R. Caron Murray, 76

ATTLEBORO - Janet R. Caron Murray, 76, of Park Street, Attleboro died February 12, 2001 in Madonna Manor Nursing Home, North Attleboro.

She was the wife of the late George H. Caron.

Born October 25, 1924 in Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late John and Antonina Skawinski.

She has been a resident of North Attleboro and Attleboro all her life and worked as a clerk at the Department of Motor Vehicles office on Rt. 152 in North Attleboro and also worked several years at Balfour and Texas Instruments. She also volunteered in the gift shop at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro for many years and was active at the Attleboro Senior Center.

Her survivors include a son, Mark Caron of North Attleboro; three daughters, Kathleen Charette of Bristol, RI, Jo-Ann Lacasse of Gloucester, RI and Heidi Guay of Rehoboth, MA; a sister, Eleanor Park of Plainville; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Anna McCormick, Mary Krzywonos and Florian, Walter and Frank Skawinski.

A funeral was held from Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Thursday, February 15, 2001 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

Visiting hours were Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madonna Manor Nursing Home, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.

Beatrice G. Paquette, 80

North Attleboro - Beatrice G. Paquette, 80 , of Circle Court died Wednesday evening, January 24, 2001 at her home in North Attleboro.

Born August 3, 1920 in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Parmelia (Gregorie) Paquette.

Miss. Paquette resided in North Attleboro for over 60 years.

She worked for Le Stage Mfg. for 10 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in North Attleboro.

Her survivors include a sister, Jeanne Bizier of South Attleboro; a Godson, Alfred J. Turcotte of Madison, ME, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church St., North Attleboro on Wednesday, January 31 at 10 A.M

Baby Megan Nicole REIBELING -

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Baby Megan Nicole Reibeling died February 10, 2001.

Daughter of James and Robin (Donohue) Reibeling.

Granddaughter of Anne and Richard Reibeling of Berlin, CT, Ann Donohue of No. Providence and Robert Donohue of No. Attleboro.

Great-grandduaghter of Florence Schaffeld of Tenafly, NJ and Edward and Mary Donohue of Natick.

A private graveside service was held in Mount Hope Cemetery, No. Attleboro on Friday, February 16, 2001 with the Reverend James Fitzpatrick, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, No. Attleboro officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 295 Devonshire St., 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.

Prudence Ritchie, 90

LEXINGTON - Prudence A. Ritchie, 90, of Bridge Street died Friday morning, January 26, 2001 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was the wife of Alexander Ritchie.

Born October 20, 1910 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late James and Prudence Bartos.

Mrs. Ritchie lived in Lexington for the past 45 years and previously resided in South Boston most of her life.

She worked for Raytheon, retiring over 20 years ago.

Besides her husband of 60 years, survivors included; a daughter, Christina Scribner of Richland, GA;

a sister Ann Clawson of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also sister of the late Edna Gelzinis.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 31st at 12:30 p.m. in the McHoul Funeral Home, 354 Adams St., Dorchester. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.

Visiting hours were held on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Elizabeth V. "Betty" Roessler, 82

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Elizabeth Veronica "Betty" Roessler, 82, of Circular Street died in her home on Wednesday morning, January 31, 2001.

She was the wife of the late George Roessler, Jr., who died in 1995, for 49 years.

Born February 2, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Catherine T. (Neary) Devany.

Mrs. Roessler grew up in Philadelphia and has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1946.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella and was an avid knitter and cook.

Her survivors include four sons, Rusty Roessler of Snohomish, WA, John and Charles Roessler both of North Attleboro and James Roessler of Pawtucket, RI;

two daughters, Mary Catherine Taylor of Nova Scotia, Canada and Angela DeFreitas of Pawtucket, RI.

two sisters, Mary Devany of Philadelphia, PA and Catherine Bishop of White Plains, NY;

Also 8 grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.

She was sister of the late John Devany.

A funeral was held on Saturday, February 3, 2001 from the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Plainville Cemetery.

Visiting Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund.

Catherine V. Stinson, 96

DORCHESTER - Catherine V. Stinson, 96, of Dorchester, formerly of Roxbury died Wednesday morning, January 10, 2001 at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Care Center. She was a widow of Edward J. Stinson.

Born September 11, 1904 in Co. Kerry, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Lucy) O’Connor.

Mrs. Stinson has been a resident of Dorchester for nearly 4 years and previously resided in Roxbury for 50 years. She came to Boston from Ireland at the age of 24.

She was a homemaker and also cleaned homes for 30 years. She also belonged to St. Patrick’s Church’s Senior’s club in Roxbury.

Her survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Averill; a son, Timothy Stinson; a step-son, Joseph Stinson and a step-daughter, Kathleen Conrod. Also 2 grandchildren.

She was mother of the late Edward F. Stinson and step-mother of the late Mary F. Stinson.

A funeral was held from McHoul Funeral Home, 354 Adams Street, Dorchester on Saturday, January 13, 2001 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ambrose Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Annette G. Sylvia, 86

New Bedford - Annette G. Sylvia, 86, of New Bedford died Monday, February 5, 2001 at the Nichols House Nursing Home in Fairhaven.

She was the wife of the late Floyd Sylvia.

Born March 15, 1914 in Springfield, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Jennie (Rosenthal) Shapiro.

Mrs. Sylvia was a graduate of New Bedford High School and resided in New Bedford most of her life.

Her survivors include: a son, William J. Fiske of Seekonk; a daughter, Jean Ann Fiske of Deltona, FL; three sisters, Lillian Reardon of Palm Beach, FL, Iicah Mellion of Coral Springs, FL, and Harriet Levy of Texas ; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place privately.

Robert A. Turner, 81

PLAINVILLE - Robert A. Turner, 81, of Plainville died late Tuesday evening, January 9, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

He was the husband of Esther (Leach) Turner.

Born February 22, 1919 in Springhill, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Farrell) Turner.

Mr. Turner was a resident of the Attleboro area since 1922. He attended Attleboro public schools and was a member of the first class of the Attleboro Jewelry Trade School.

He worked for Massachusetts Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1982.

Mr. Turner was a member of the Attleboro Moose Lodge for over 55 years and a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks #1011, North Attleboro for 25 years. He was a founding member of the Eastside Taxpayers Association in the early 1950’s.

Besides his wife of 57 years, survivors include; two daughters, Marianne Mitchell of Maplewood, Nova Scotia and Deborah R. West of Pawtucket, RI; a son, John S. Turner of East Longmeadow, MA; a sister, Dorothy Fritscher of So. Venice, FL, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 13th at 5 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., No. Attleboro.

Visiting hours were held on Saturday, prior to the service, from 2 - 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association, 1 Kendall Sq., Bldg 200, Cambridge, MA 02139 or to the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit, P.O. Box 649, Attleboro, MA 02703.

Robert M. Uetz, 77

DORCHESTER - Robert M. Uetz, 77, of Taylor Street died Friday morning, January 5, 2001 in his home. He was the husband of Jo-Ann (Moore) Uetz. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania , he was a son of the late George and Edna Uetz.

He was a resident of Dorchester for the past 20 years. He was a fire controlman in the United States Navy during WWII serving on the USS Texas and was recalled to action during the Korean War to serve in the same capacity on the USS Smalley.

Retiring in 1986 from Boston Electronic Cash Register in Brighton, he was a cash register repairman most of his life, previously working for Boston Cash Register and National Cash Register.

He was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church in South Boston. Mr Uetz was a "jack of all trades", but he especially loved to cook, paint, do various wood-working projects and work with computers.

Besides his wife of 14 years, survivors include three daughters; Laura L. Sheridan of Norwell, Liz Seaver of Brockton, Kelley Ann Murphy of Dorchester, a brother; John Uetz of Hammonton, New Jersey, a sister; Doris Irwin of Meyrsdale, Pennsylvania and two grandsons.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life was held on Monday, January 8 at 10 A.M. in the Fourth Presbyterian Church, 304 Dorchester St., So. Boston. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.

Visiting hours were held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 354 Adams St., Dorchester.
