Christopher Edwards, 19
ATTLEBORO FALLS - Christopher M. Edwards, 19, of Towne Street died Tuesday,
September 4, 2001 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital of injuries resulting from an
automobile accident.

Born September 23, 1981 in Kissimmee, Florida, he was the son of Michael and
Gina (Trifoglio) Edwards of Attleboro Falls.

Christopher had been a resident of North Attleboro since he was five years
old and was a 2000 graduate of North Attleboro High School where he had
played football for four years, baseball for three and wrestled his freshman
year. He also played football for the Dean College team in Franklin.

He was very active in sports his entire life playing in Little League through
the Senior Babe Ruth level and was a member of the AAU all-star traveling
team. He was chief of umpiring for Little League and responsible for setting
up schedules and paying all the umpires.

He was active in the Boy Scouts Troop 32 and formerly with the Cub Scouts at
Grace Church and was active in Foxboro Baptist Church's Teen programs.

He volunteered with special needs children at Riverside Community Care in
Dedham and this summer had been working at A1 paving in Wrentham.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by a brother and sister,
Nicolas and Alexandria Edwards both at home;
two grandfathers, Frank H. Trifoglio of North Attleboro and Mack Edwards of
Florida; a great-grandmother, Virginia Davison of Alaska;
also several uncles and aunts. He was grandson of the late Estelle Trifoglio
and Audra Edwards.

Relatives and friends are invited to services in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral
Home at 15 Grove Street in North Attleboro on Saturday, September 8 from 4-8
p.m. A graveside service will be held on Christopher's birthday, Sunday
September 23rd at St. Mary's Cemetery in Attleboro Falls at 3 o'clock.

Kathleen Bowles, 92
CANTON - Kathleen (Lund) Bowles, of Canton died Monday, July 9, 2001 at
Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood.
She was the wife of the late Theodore Bowles and Henry Davenport.

Born August 10, 1908 in Leeds, England, she was a daughter of the late
William and Louisa (Hague) Lund.

Mrs. Bowles came to the United States in 1911 and settled in Methuen. She
later moved to Canton where she has been a resident since 1938. She was a
graduate of Bridgewater State College in 1929 and Boston University in 1959
with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education.

Mrs. Bowles was a homemaker most of her life, although she did have a brief
teaching career in Methuen before she was married. She then helped run her
first husband's farm in Canton until his tragic death in 1953.

She was on the Board of Trustees at the Canton Library from 1962 - 1974. She
was a member of the Canton Great Books Club and the Boston Mineral Club.

Her survivors include a step-daughter, Helene "Teddy" MacNeal of Dedham, a
step-son, Alan Bowles of So. Yarmouth and five step-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1 Blue Hill River
Road, Canton on Monday, August 6 at 1 p.m. Burial was at Canton Corner
Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church
Memorial Fund, 1 Blue Hill River Road; Canton; MA 02021.

Louise F. Brown, 72
Balfour retiree
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Louise F. Brown, 72, of High Street died Saturday morning,
August 18, 2001 in her home.

Born April 3, 1929 in St. Jean, Quebec, Canada, she was a daughter of the
late Wenceslas and Valentine (Boudriault) Boudreau.

Mrs. Brown has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1958 and worked as an
inspector at LG Balfour Co. for 16 years before retiring in 1988.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro. She enjoyed
bowling and was a member of a league at North Bowl for 15 years.

Her survivors include two sons, Robert C. Brown of Pawtucket and Michael A.
Brown of Hollywood, Florida;
three sisters, Rollande Carbray, Gisele Thuot and Pierrette Bedard all of
Canada;
three brothers, Jean Paul Boudreau, Maurice and Georges et Henri Boudreau all
of Canada;
also 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral was from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North
Attleboro on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's
Church, Park Street, at 10 o'clock. Burial was in St. John Cemetery,
Attleboro.

Gary Carpenter, 51
Vietnam War Veteran
North Attleboro - Gary Carpenter, 51, of Jefferson Place died suddenly
Thursday morning, August 2, 2001 at New England Medical Center Hospital in
Boston.
He was the husband of Elizabeth "Liz" (Francis) Carpenter.

Born September 5, 1949 in Attleboro, he was a son of Marjorie (Doble)
Carpenter of North Attleboro and the late Roger Carpenter.

Mr. Carpenter was a resident of North Attleboro for most of his life and
resided in Wrentham until the age of 11. He was a graduate of King Phillip
High School, Class of 1968 and also attended North Attleboro High School for
2 years.

Mr. Carpenter was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a manager of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #443 in North Attleboro
and was their Quartermaster for the past 7 years. Previously, he was an
independent contractor in the building industry in the North Attleboro area
for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Benevelent Protective Order of Elks #1011 of North
Attleboro, the American Legion Post #217 of Plainville and the Plainville
Beagle Club. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and boating. He also
loved to travel.

Besides his wife and mother, survivors include; a brother, Mark Carpenter of
Seekonk; four sisters, Janet Jackson of DeLand, Florida, Susan Pina of
Middleboro, Deborah LeBlanc of North Attleboro and Lynn Lepointe of North
Attleboro; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St.;
No. Attleboro on Saturday at 5 p.m with the Rev. Carole Baker, pastor of the
Central Congregational Church, Attleboro Falls, officiating.

Stephen E. "Buster" Cragan, 85
HOLDEN - Stephen E. "Buster" Cragan, 85 of Oakwood Street died Sunday
evening, August 19, 2001 in Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center
in West Boylston. He was the husband of Audrey (Ritzi) Cragan.

Born December 4, 1915 in Worcester, he was a son of the late Stehen and Mary
(Danahy) Cragan.
Mr. Cragan has been a resident of Holden since 1951 and previously lived in
Worcester all his life. He and his wife summered on Cape Cod in Dennis for
19 years from 1978-1997.

He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in Worcester in 1934, where he
was captain of the basketball team and played baseball. He earned All-City
honors in both sports and in 1996 he was inducted into The St. Peter's Hall
of Fame as a 2 sport standout.

Mr. Cragan was a member of the US Naval Reserve in Worcester and served 4 1/2
years in the US Navy during World War II. After the war he became Sales
Supervisor for Massachusetts Electric in the Worcester office where he worked
for 44 years before his retirement in 1980.

He was a member of the American Legion Eastside Post #201 on Plantation
Street in Worcester, a member of the Worcester Executive's Club, Toastmasters
Club and Men's Club of St. George's Church. Throughout his life he was an
active leader in organized youth baseball and basketball.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Stephen E. Cragan Jr.
of Wilton, CT, Peter J. Cragan of North Attleboro and Mark J. Cragan of
Carlisle; two daughters, Claudia Holland of Paxton and Andrea Berg of
Wilmington, VT; a sister, Clare Thorell of Princeton and 16 grandchildren.
He was brother of the late Marion MacKenzie.

A funeral was held from the ATHY MEMORIAL HOME, 111 Lancaster Street,
Worcester on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. George's
Church, Brattle Street, Worcester at 10 o'clock. Burial was in St. John's
Cemetery.

Alfreda Crotty, 89
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Alfreda Crotty, 89, of North Washington Street died
Sunday, September 2, 2001 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was
the widow of Daniel Crotty.

Born May 29, 1912 in Auburn, Maine she was a daughter of the late Frederick
and Sarah J. (Harvey) Jones.

Mrs. Crotty grew up in Maine and has been a resident of North Attleboro since
1956, she previously lived in Plainville for 20 years.

She was a former seamstress at Whiting & Davis for several years and is a
member of Plainville United Methodist Church. She loved sewing, knitting,
cooking and painting.

Her survivors include a daughter, June Crosta of North Attleboro; two
brothers, Thomas & Fred Jones; two grandchildren, Tammi Schmidt and Timothy
Crosta; also 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral celebrated by Rev. Dr. John Grenfell was held in the SPERRY &
McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Burial followed in Plainville Cemetery.
