Diana Larocque, 94
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Diana Larocque, 94, of Fales Road died Sunday evening, July 27, 2003 in her home. She was the wife of the late Desire “Buster” Larocque.

Born August 27, 1908 in Central Falls, RI, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Louisa (Sylvester) Caron. Mrs. Larocque lived many years in Pawtucket and has been a resident of North Attleboro for the past 25 years.

She worked as a winder in the textiles industry before her retirement in 1970.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro and enjoyed Crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Chenard of South Attleboro and Judith Chaffee, with whom she made her home; a son, William Larocque of North Attleboro; five grandchildren, James Chenard of Punta Gorda, FL, Stephen Chenard of Cumberland, RI, Donald Chenard of South Attleboro, Lynne Mello of North Attleboro and Christopher Chaffee of Auburn; Also 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, North Attleboro at 10 O’clock. Burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Visiting hours were Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of CVNA, 141 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

George C. Plante, 74
PLAINVILLE - George C. Plante, 74, of Melody Drive died Sunday evening, July 27, 2003 in Madonna Manor Nursing Home, North Attleboro. He was the husband of Georgette (Boelker) Plante.

Born March 6, 1929 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Delphis and Clotilda (Rudolph) Plante. Mr. Plante has been a resident of Plainville for the past 52 years and previously lived in North Attleboro. He attended North Attleboro schools.

Mr. Plante was a press room foreman for International Insignia in Providence for many years before retirement in 1990. He served on the Angle Tree Stone Committee, the Historical Commission, the Industrial Development Commission and coached for the Plainville Athletic League for many years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Bradley Plante of North Attleboro; two daughters, Lynn Carley of North Attleboro and Georgia Moore of Medway; Two sisters, Florence Schriever and Pauline Allcott both of Plainville; Also 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Richard, Charles and Edgar Plante.

A funeral was held in the Madonna Manor Chapel, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. Visitation hours were on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. Committal service was held in Plainville Cemetery.

Leola Bailey, 87
PLAINVILLE - Leola Bailey, 87, of South Street died Saturday evening, July 26, 2003 in her home.

Born February 19, 1916 in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Roy P. and Inez (Warren) Harding. She lived in Stoughton for 18 years and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, where she was an honor student for four years. At age 17, she studied art under F. Mortimer Lamb, an artist of some renown at that time. She has been a resident of Plainville since 1977 and previously lived in Sharon and Canton for several years.

Mrs. Bailey worked as an accountant for Heath Consultants, Stoughton for 10 years before her retirement in 1981. She enjoyed painting autumn and winter landscapes. She was an avid Patriots fan and watched enjoyed watching golf tournaments on television. Leola enjoyed crocheting, sewing, tatting and playing solitaire.

She is survived by two daughters, June Young of Plainville and Pauline Whelan of Mansfield; three sons, Paul Bailey of Plainville, Raymond Bailey of Mill Valley, CA and Daniel Bailey of Palmer; Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Mark Bailey and sister of the late Alice Shaw, Roy Harding, Florence Evans and Robert Harding.

A funeral was held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Tom Bonifield officiated. Burial followed in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Visiting hours were Monday, July 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice, 3 Edgewater Dr., Norwood, MA 02062.

Robert Flett
SOMERVILLE - Robert Flett of Somerville, died suddenly, on July 21, 2003. Robert Bruce (Bobby) Flett. Son of the late David and Margaret Flett of Cambridge. Loving brother of David and Brother-in Law of Lena of Burlington. Devoted Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews, especially “Snickers”. Fondly remembered by cousins, family,all his friends at Newtowne Grille in Cambridge and his special friend Jean. Funeral services were private. Memorial donations may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Fund.

Madelyn Wilber, 94
WESTBOROUGH - Madelyn E. Wilber, 94, of Westborough, formerly of North Attleboro and Taunton died Friday, July 18, 2003 in Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Westborough. She was the widow of Albert E. Wilber.

Born October 15, 1908 in Taunton, she was a daughter of the late Aime and Florida (Fauleux) Cartier.

Mrs. Wilber has been in the Beaumont Nursing Center since August of 2002 and lived in Westborough the past 25 years. She grew up in Taunton and was a resident of North Attleboro for over 60 years.

Mrs. Wilber retired from the Jeweled Cross Company, North Attleboro in 1972 after five years there. She also worked many years at J.J. Newbury’s retail store in downtown North Attleboro and the Webster Company for several years.

Mrs. Wilber was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro and a past member of their Women’s Guild. She had also worked the voting booths in North Attleboro for years and hobbies included crocheting, reading and collecting post cards.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Roy of South Attleboro and Linda Goudas of Westborough; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was mother of the late Albert E. Wilber, Jr., Virginia Wilber and Robert Wilber; and sister of the late Annette Bourget, Roland Cartier, Leon Cartier, Andrew Cartier, Germaine Carroll, Laura Bresnahan and Jeanne Cook.

A funeral was held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Park Street, North Attleboro at 11 O’clock. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery & Arboretum

Norman A. Pinsoneault, 85
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Norman A. Pinsoneault, 85, of Raymond Hall Drive died late Wednesday evening, July 23, 2003 in his home. He was the husband of Celina ( LeBlanc ) Pinsoneault for over 62 years.

Born February 12, 1918 in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Garland) Pinsoneault.

Mr. Pinsoneault grew up in Rhode Island and was a graduate of Pawtucket High School in 1936. He attended Rhode Island College and completed a 3-year chemistry course at the Rhode Island School of Design in 1942. He has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1941.

He retired in 1980 after 40 years as a Manufacturing Engineer for Texas Instruments in Attleboro.

Mr. Pinsoneault was a past member of the North Attleboro Lions Club, a volunteer at the Hockomock YMCA, where he taught swimming and was an avid bowler.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Arthur M. of Ashburnham and Dennis J. Pinsoneault of Plainville;

Four sisters, Evelyn Richard of Pawtucket, RI; Rita Hemond of California, Gloria Bonneau of South Attleboro and Joan Microulis of Pawtucket, RI; and Four grandchildren. He was brother of the late Dorothea Beaumont.

Funeral services were private with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Attleboro Firefighters Kids Day Fund, PO BOX 3215; North Attleboro, MA 02761.

Lorraine Higginbotham, 69

ATTLEBORO -- Lorraine E. Higginbotham, 69, of Dexter Street, died Monday in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Arthur Higginbotham.

Born in Attleboro on Dec. 23, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Cyril and Janette (Bastille) Cote. She was a lifelong Attleboro resident.

Mrs. Higginbotham had been a homemaker and had enjoyed time spent with her family.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and a past member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 312.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen and John Higginbotham, both of Attleboro; a daughter, Susan Meyer of Attleboro; two sisters, Anita Graveline of Harwich and Irene Bessette of Pawtucket; two brothers, Leo and Roger Cote, both in Florida; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Romeo Cote.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Church, South Main Street. Burial is private.

Arrangements are by the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro.

Eileen Pearson, 78

ATTLEBORO -- Eileen A. Pearson, 78, of Hodges Street, died Monday in the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home. She was the widow of Ernest Pearson and former wife of the late Walter Carroll.

Born in Pawtucket on April 7, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Nora (Kelly) Ahearn. She had resided in Attleboro for 40 years, previously living in Seekonk.

Mrs. Pearson had worked for the former Victorian Mansion of South Attleboro and was an ombudsman for Bristol County Elders Service.

She had also served as a volunteer for Versa Care Inc. of Attleboro and a member of the Friends of the Attleboro Public Library.

She is survived by four sons, Walter Carroll of Brookline, Brian Carroll of Pawtucket, Gary Carroll of Seekonk and Mark Carroll of Cumberland; three daughters, Noreen Carroll of Mansfield, Eileen Krol of Sunderland and Marilyn Mooney of Attleboro; two brothers, Gerald Ahearn of Charleston, S.C., and Eugene Ahearn in Florida; a sister, Barbara Curry of South Attleboro; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late James and John Ahearn.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen Church, 683 South Main St., followed by burial in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Prospect Street, Pawtucket.

Arrangements are by the William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.

Norman Auclair, 81

NORTH ATTLEBORO -- Norman G. Auclair, 81, died Monday in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. He was the husband of Vergie (Alley) Auclair, to whom he had been married 59 years.

Born in Acushnet on Nov. 13, 1919, he was a son of the late Ephram and Antonia (Simon) Auclair. He had resided in North Attleboro since 1956.

Mr. Auclair had worked as a maintenance person at Bird machine in South Walpole for over 20 years, retiring at age 64.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 1011, North Attleboro.

Mr. Auclair is an avid fisherman and hunter and a member of the Independent Sportsmen's Club of Foxboro.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Norman Auclair Jr. of North Attleboro and Brian Auclair of Attleboro; a daughter, Dianne Doble of North Attleboro; three sisters, Ann Quintal of Santa Clara, Calif., Rose Allen of New Bedford and Alice Parent of Agawam; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Sperry-McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., with the Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Pearl Lucier, 82

SEEKONK -- Pearl Lourena Lucier, 82, of Ledge Road, died Monday in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was widow of George Lucier.

Born in Seekonk, where she was a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lourena (Warren) Prescott. She was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design.

Mrs. Lucier had worked as a designer at the former Coro Jewelers, in Providence, for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra McManus of Seekonk and Carol Rezendes of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Muriel Rheaume and Eleanor Stadnik, both of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, George Prescott of Fort Myers, Fla., Ralph Prescott in Oklahoma and Warren Prescott of North Attleboro; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral and burial will be private.

Marion Harrop, 88, grandmother of 59

NORTH ATTLEBORO -- Marion E. Harrop, 88, of North Washington Street, died Thursday at Madonna Manor, North Attleboro, where she lived the past 12 years. She was the widow of Harold T. Harrop Sr., who died in 1982.

Born in Attleboro, June 1, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Alvah and Grace (Crooker) Carpenter. She was a resident of South Attleboro until she moved to North Attleboro in 1958.

Mrs. Harrop was a homemaker who later worked as an attendant at the former Wrentham State School, now Wrentham Developmental Center, in Wrentham for 15 years before retirement.

She was a game enthusiast who especially enjoyed playing bingo.

Mrs. Harrop is survived by nine sons, Francis Harrop of Attleboro, Howard Harrop Sr. of North Attleboro, Laurin Harrop Sr. of South Attleboro, Edwin Harrop Sr. -- Plainville's Fire Chief -- of Plainville, Ronald Harrop of Pawtucket, Melvin Harrop of Bellingham, Harold Harrop of Edmonton, Ky., Robert Harrop of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Norman Harrop of Canton, N.C.; and six daughters, Constance Jenks and Shirley Levesque, both of North Attleboro, Marion Barnes of Southwick, Ruth Avery of Westfield, Evelyn Overman of Angier, N.C., and Joan O'Neil of Pittsburgh, Pa. She also leaves 59 grandchildren and 90 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Frank Harrop and Muriel Fontaine, and was the sister of the late Donald Howarth.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Commonwealth Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave., Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, with the Rev. Raymond Moquin of LaSalette Shrine and Madonna Manor officiating. Burial will follow in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls, R.I.
