1920 - 2000
Viola (Studley) Bolio, 79 of Waltham died Saturday at the Weston Senior Care Center, in Weston. Born in Somerville, she then was raised and lived in Waltham all her life. Mrs. Bolio worked at the Waltham Watch Factory for a few years before working for B.C. Aimes, Lexington Street for over 40 years as a Precision Machinist. She also devoted her time for Boeing Aircraft Co., Seattle, Washington during W.W.II.
Viola (Studley) Bolio was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur B. Studley and Pearl W. (Brennan) Studley. Wife of the late Leo J. Bolio. Loving mother of Steven Bolio and his wife Sally Bolio both of Waltham. Sister of the late Dorothy Keizer, Arthur B. Studley Jr., and Walter B. Studley. Devoted grandmother of Steven L. Bolio Jr. of Bedford, Michael P. Bolio of Sudbary, and Brian C. Bolio of the U.S. Army. Loving Great Grandmother of Jenna Bolio, Kevin Bolio, and Aiden Bolio.
A Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10: 00 a.m. in the Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody St., WALTHAM. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory To Make a Wish Foundation 295 Devonshire Rd., Boston, MA. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Bernard Avila
1924 - 2000
Bernard J. "Jack" Avila, 76 of Newton died suddenly and peacefully Friday evening at the New England Medical Center in Boston. He was born and raised in Provincetown, before moving to Newton where he lived for the last 45 years. Mr. Avila entered into the United States Army where he served through the Korean War. He was a self employed master carpenter. Mr. Avila was devoted to his family and his craft.
He was the son of the late John B. & Emma (Meads) Avila, He is survived by his wife Rosalie (Castellana) Avila of Newton, Loving father of John B. Avila of Waltham and Mrs. Randy (Emila) Avila-Sinker of Long Grove, IL and their children Hilary Rose and Paige Elaine Sinker. Mr. Avila had several brothers & sisters and many nieces & nephews.
Services will be held from Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, Wednesday afternoon at 12: 00 p.m. Interment will be private. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Barbara Collings
1923 - 2000
Barbara M. (Moore) Collings, 77 of Waltham, died suddenly July 16, 2000, at home in Waltham, Mass. She was 77.
Born in Somerville, Mrs. Collings lived in Allston and Brighton for 50 years and has resided in Waltham for the past 2 Years.
She was employed with a creditor Agency as a Office Manager for 25 years.
Mrs. Collings was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Norma C. (Ellis) Moore.
She is the wife of the late Ledson Nathaniel Collings
She is survived by her loving children Linda B. Collings of Danvers, Robert L. Collings Esquire and his wife Susan Collings both of Wyncote, PA, and Richard N. Collings of Reno, Nevada. Beloved sister of Muriel LeFort of Waltham and Wareham, and Arthur E. Moore Sr. of Orlando, FL. Also survived by 6 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.
A Funeral Service in celebration of her life was held in the Chapel of The Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, on July 21, 2000 Friday at 11: 00 A.M.
Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Relatives & Visiting Hours were July 20, 2000 Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Espressions of sympathy may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115

Joyce Flynn
1947 - 2000
Joyce L. (Gatti) Flynn, 52 of Newton, died Tuesday evening June 27, 2000 in the Deacones-Waltham Hospital after a long illness. She was 52.
Born and raised in Newton, Mrs. Flynn was a lifelong Newton resident living in the West Newton and Nonantum sections of Newton. She was a graduate of Hewton High School Class of 1966 and furthered her education at Aquinas College of Newton graduating in 1989.
She was employed with Tufts Health Plan for many years in the Claims Department.
She was daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Theresa M. (Papia) Gatti Sr., and daughter-in-law of the late Cleo M. Flynn.
Wife of the late David A. Flynn, she is survived by her daughter Amy M. Flynn and Adam Flynn both of Newton. Her twin sister Janice Rizza of Newton, and sisters Linda Gatti and Debra-Ann Mazerolle both of Maynard, and her brother Lawrence J. Gatti Jr. of Waltham. In addition she is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Services were held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Friday morning at 9: 30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton at 10: 30 a.m. Interment followed in Newton Cemetery, Newton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were held in the funeral home on Thursday 6-9 p.m.

Frank McDonald, Jr.
1935 - 2000
Frank A. McDonald Jr., 65 of Acapulco, Mexico, died Wednesday afternoon August 30, 2000 in the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick after a long illness. He was 65.
Born and raised in Brighton, Mr. McDonald attended local schools and graduated from Boston English High School. He continued his education at the Boston School of Anatomy and Embalming. Upon graduation he entered the funeral business with his father. After the death of his father in 1956 he became President of the McDonald Funeral Home of Boston Incorporated. In 1958, Mr. McDonald acquired the Carley Funeral Home, Inc. of Allston. In 1976 he sold both funeral homes to I.F.S., Inc., a nationwide conglomerate which also owned the Waterman Funeral Home of Boston. Mr McDonald then became Vice President of J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Home of Boston.
In 1982 he was appointed Executive Assistant to the Register of Deeds for Suffolk County. He retired in 1989 after suffering a heart attack. Mr. McDonald was past president of the Greater Boston Association for the Retarded Children. Former member of the Board Directors of the Massachusetts Association for the Retarded Children, Vice President and director of the People’s Savings Bank of Brighton, President of the Commonwealth Avenue Citizens Committee, member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, member of the Saint Cecilia’s and Saint Anthony’s Ushers Club.
Past President of the Grey Houses of Brighton and Allston. Mr. McDonald was active in the Real Estate Business in Brighton, Allston, and Cape Cod. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Casa de la Loma Condo Association of Acapulco, Mexico. Mr. McDonald was highly active in fundraising for the Children’s Home Orphanage in Acapulco. During the 1960’s, Mr. McDonald was active in the Democratic politics in Massachusetts.
After graduation from High School, Mr. McDonald joined the United States Navy in 1946 and was Honorably discharged in 1948. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #18 in Dedham.
He was the brother of the late Joseph P. McDonald.
He is survived by his son Frank A. "Chip" McDonald III of Hyde Park.
Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.
Services will be held from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT on Thursday morning at 10: 30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10: 00 a.m. Interment will follow in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Flowers are appreciated or expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Greater Boston for Retarded Children Assoc., 1505 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton, Ma. 02135

George Jacobs
1907 - 2000
George Edward Jacobs of Waltham, died suddenly Friday evening September 8, 2000 in the Metro-West Medical Center in Natick. He was 93.
Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr. Jacobs lived briefly in Waltham before moving to Boston where he resided for over 50 years.
Mr. Jacobs graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1931 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and furthered his education graduating from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 1934 with courses in Organic Analysis, Microanalysis and Petrography.
He was employed with General Chemical Co. of Edgewater, New Jersey as an Analytical Chemist, both American Cyanamide Co. of Bound Brook, New Jersey and Makalot Plastics Co. in Waltham as a Research Chemist, Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. of Boston as Chemical Plant Draftsman and Designer, Rustproof & Metal Finishing Co. of Cambridge as a Research Chemist, and the Thompson & Lichtner Co. of Brookline as a Chemist. For many years Mr. Jacobs was a private consultant and writer. At the age of 88, Mr. Jacobs published a book on chemistry. He was admired and very well respected individual in the field of chemistry.
Mr. Jacobs obtained a patent for describing a method for obtaining black finish on steel with both military and decorative applications.
Mr. Jacobs bought a 1931 & 1935 Harley Davidson Motorcycle which he wore driving on cross country trips. For many years was a Ham Radio Operator being one of the first licensed operators. He loved cats and all animals.
He was son of the late John and Magdelena Jacobs.
Husband of the late Corrine F. (Funderburk) Jacobs, he is survived by his daughters Nancy Jacobs of Framingham and Linda McGreal of Waltham, his son Roderick Jacobs of New Hampshire. His niece Marie Hennessey of Canajoharie, New York. Also survived by several great nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be celebrated in the Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Wednesday morning at 11: 00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday evening 5-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Save A Dog, P.O. Box 1108, Framingham, Ma. 01701.

Charles Vasquezi
1951 - 2000
Charles W. Vasquezi, Jr., 49 of Norwood died suddenly Saturday morning at the Norwood Hospital. Born in Waltham and lived there until moving to Norwood 8 years ago.
He was employed in the building trades most of his life.
He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, and was an avid fisherman.
He was the son of the late Charles & Ann Noreen ( White ) Vasquezi, Sr. He is survived by his wife Justina Kay (Lazar) Vasquezi, his children, Sally Vasquezi of Waltham, Charles W. Vasquezi III of Dracut, Carissa Lazar of Norwood, William C. Vasquezi of Marlboro, & Alice Vasquezi of Norwood, his sister Mrs. James (Deborah A.) Grant of Rhode Island, Mrs. Paul (Jane M.) Gullotti of New Hampshire & his brother David Vasquezi of Rhode Island.
Service will be held Thursday morning at 8: 00 a.m. from the Brasco Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, Massachusetts with a mass of Christian burial in Saint Mary's Church, 145 School Street, Waltham, Massachusetts, Internment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne Massachusetts, Thursday afternoon at 2: 00 p.m.
Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Shannon Vicente
1969 - 2000
Shannon P. Vicente of South Boston, Massachusetts died in a tragic car accident outside Pruem, Germany on March 22, 2000. She was 30 years old. Ms. Vicente was the Director of Mande Muda Inc. and a certified instructor in Pencak Silat, an ancient Indonesian form of Martial Arts. She was a World Class Champion and received the highest Honor ever bestowed on any woman in that discipline. Ms. Vicente traveled throughout the United States, Europe and Asia with her loving partner and teacher, Herman Suwanda who also died in the accident. They were returning from a performing and teaching seminar of this traditional art form. Shannon was also an ardent student of Chinese medicine and healing.
From South Boston she set out on a journey in search of becoming a better person, helping those less fortunate than herself along the way.
Raised in South Boston, Massachusetts, her everyday actions always centered on others. She had a profound impact on everyone who knew her and were inspired by her example and enriched by her friendship. Her friends literally spanned the Globe from Southie to Indonesia.
-She leaves her mother and best friend, Maureen G. Stewart of South Boston, Massachusetts. She affectionately offered some simple advice to her friends that “You should treasure the special love that only a mom can give”.
She also leaves a brother Robert P. Vicente of California. She was the devoted niece of Joanne Stewart of Baypoint, California, John F. Stewart of Eastport, Maine, cousin to Denise Hagan of Fall River, Massachusetts and Peggy Pernock of Canton, Massachusetts, along with several other cousins.
A prayer service will be held on Saturday, April 15, at 11 A.M. at the Casper Funeral Home, 187
Dorchester Street, South Boston, Massachusetts. A graveside service will follow. Her interment is at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, Massachusetts.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 27, at 11 A.M. in St. Vincent’s Church in South Boston, Massachusetts. All family members and friends are invited.
-In lieu of flowers, a scholarship foundation is being established in Shannon’s name. Arrangements will be handled by the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, Massachusetts.
