William B. Smith aged 77 years of West Bridgewater, MA died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Colony House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Abington, MA after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Anna M. (Eheander) Smith of 53 years.
Born Tuesday, June 21, 1927 in Quincy, MA he was the son of the late William J. Smith and the late Margaret L. (Burgess) Smith.
William was educated in Quincy Schools and had lived in Rockland, MA for 23 years before moving to West Bridgewater in 1976. He had worked for Quincy Shipyard and retired from Space Metal Buildings in Raynham, MA. He served in WW II in the US Navy on the Battle Ship USS Wyoming and enjoyed fishing and horses. He was also a member of the USS Wyoming BB-32 Association.
In addition to his wife Anna he is survived by five children William B. Smith, Jr. of West Bridgewater, Carol A. Donovan of Battle Ground, WA, Kathleen A. Curtis of Dillsburg, PA, David S. Smith of Pembroke, MA and Shelagh M. Smith of East Bridgewater, MA; seven grandchildren Erika Smith, Dianne Smith, Stephen Smith, William Curtis, David Curtis, Anna Donovan and Amy Donovan; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Smith of Strafford, CT and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Ellen Auger.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:30 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
Arrangements are by the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA

Kendall D. West, Jr.

Kendall D. West, Jr. age 58 years passed away Thursday at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston after a battle with cancer. He was the father of Bradford West of Norfolk, VA and the former husband of Anne West of South Weymouth.
Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Kendall and Eleanor (Raymond) West. He was a graduate of Harwich High School Class of 1965 and had been a long time resident of Brockton. He was the owner of the East Side Market for 15 years and was a member the Small Business Association of Brockton.
In addition to his son and former wife, he is survived two sisters, Sandra L. Hawes of Jamaica Plain and Susan Roger of Swampscott, as well as a brother, Steven B. West of Bradford, NH; two aunts, Natalie M. White of So. Easton and Louise Walz of Miami, FL. and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, Chapel For All Faiths, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 7-9 PM

Linda Pauline Olson

Linda Pauline Olson of Brockton age 58 years passed away Saturday at South Shore Hospital after a long illness. She was the daughter of Carl A. Olson of Brockton and the late Barbara (Goodspeed) Olson.
Born and raised in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton High School. Linda also spent several years in No. Easton and West Bridgewater. She attended Cape Cod Community College in Barnstable and the Andover Institute of Business in Brockton where she also taught. She was employed for several years for Harte-Hanks, Inc., West Bridgewater, MA and prior to that for Chadwick’s of Boston in West Bridgewater.
She was involved with the Greater Brockton Camera Club, serving for several years as elected secretary as well as co-chair of the program committee. Linda was also a member of the International order of the Rainbow for Girls, Brockton Assembly # 20. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton and helped with several activities, including the golf committee. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano and is remembered by her family as a very giving person.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a brother, Carl S. Olson and sister in law, Donna Oman Olson of North Easton; a niece, Jennifer T. Streit of Saint Paul, MN; and nephew, Carl Edward Olson of North Easton. Linda is also survived by aunts, uncles, and many cousins, as well as relatives in Sweden. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main St., Brockton, MA. Interment will be in Pine Island Cemetery, Mattapoisett, MA. Arrangements are with the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main St. Brockton, MA 02301.

Gertrude ( Stonehouse) Lambert

Gertrude ( Stonehouse) Lambert aged 91 years of Middleboro formerly of Brockton died Friday, December 31, 2004 at her home after a time of failing Health. She was the wife of 57 years to the late Stanley W. Lambert
Born in Whitman, MA she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (McDonald) Stonehouse.
She had been a resident of Brockton for 60 years, and for the pass seven years made her home in Middleboro with her daughter Marilyn.
Mrs. Lambert was a graduate of Brockton High School and of Framingham School of Nursing. She had worked as an R.N. in area
Hospitals for over 40 years and retired from Brockton Hospital in 1962 after 27 years of service.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and in later years she enjoyed vacations with grandchildren and traveling with her daughter.
She attended the Immanuel Baptist Church in Brockton.
She is survived by a son Walter S. Lambert of Titisville, Florida; a daughter Marilyn Fongeallaz of Middleboro; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a loving Sister-in-law Phyllis Stonehouse of Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Frank Stonehouse.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 10:00 AM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 5, 2005 from 5-8 PM

Mary Elizabeth “Bette” (Gillis) Hallin

Mary Elizabeth “Bette” (Gillis) Hallin aged 79 years of West Bridgewater, MA died Wednesday, January 05, 2005 at Brockton Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of Milton E. Hallin of 58 years.
Born Sunday, May 24, 1925 in Brockton, MA she was the daughter of the late George L. Gillis and the late Beatrice (Gammons) Gillis. She was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High School and had lived in Brockton until moving to West Bridgewater in 1963. She was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church in Brockton and was presently a member of Grace Bible Church in East Bridgewater, MA.
She had worked as a volunteer at Bridgewater Visiting Nurse Association, as a teacher’s assistant at the Brockton Christian School and retired from Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home after 15 years of service as secretary.
Bette enjoyed singing as a soloist and quilting. She also belonged to the Kindred Quilters at Grace Bible Church.
In addition to her husband Milton of 58 years she is survived by two daughters Meredith McCann of Lexington, MA and Roy (Barbara) Barker of West Bridgewater; a son Kenneth M. Hallin of Somerville, MA; seven grandchildren Timothy, Matthew, Joseph and Leanne McCann, Sara Blinn and Andrew and Stephen Barker; five great-grandchildren; a sister Barbara A. Hall of Wareham, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lyman E. Gillis and the late Russell H. Gillis.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 1:00 PM in Grace Bible Church, Central St. East Bridgewater, MA.
Arrangements are by the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA.
Visitation will take place on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Old Colony Hospice, 14 Page Terrace, Stoughton, MA 02072.

Arnt Johan Sundseth

Arnt Johan Sundseth aged 78 years of Brockton, MA died Friday, December 31, 2004 at Brockton Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Esther Stella (Cohen) Sundseth.
Born Thursday, April 8, 1926 in Oslo, Norway he was the son of the late Arnt Johan Sundseth and Ingrid C. (Krug) Sundseth.
Arnt was educated in Norway and had moved in Brockton in 1971. He served as Tech Sergeant in the US Air Force for 21 years and then worked for the Federal Reserve Bank as chief of security until retirement. He was a former member of Sons of Norway and enjoyed collecting wines. He also enjoyed many types of food and was an avid winter sports man and was also a seaman and enjoyed sailing and swimming.
He is survived by three Children Janis E. Cappiello and her husband Louis of Brockton, Arnt J. Sundseth and his wife Mildred of Kernersville, NC and David Ray Sundseth and his fiancé Susan M. Dauwer of Brockton; 8 grandchildren Matthew, Michael and Sarah Cappiello, Sean, Stacie and Magen Sundseth and Paul and Ashlynn Dauwer; 6 great grandchildren Destiny Love, Morgan Grace, Austin Johan, Taylor, Ava and Skylar, a brother Erik Sundseth of Norway; a nephew and a niece. He was also the brother of the late Kirsten Sundseth.
A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 5-7 PM.
Friends wishing memorial gifts may be given to Old Colony Hospice, 14 Page Terrace, Stoughton, MA.

Vivian J. (Livie) Leonard

Vivian J. (Livie) Leonard aged 85 years of Lakeville, MA formerly of West Bridgewater, MA died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at Tufts New England Medical Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Raymond Leonard and the late Gordon M. Livie.
Born in Cambridge she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Bertha (Merriam) Jones. She was educated in Roslindale Schools and was a graduate of Burdette College and had lived in West Bridgewater for 30 years moving to Lakeville 17 years ago.
She was a member and Sunday School Teacher at the West Bridgewater Baptist Church and a former member of Trinity Baptist Church in Brockton.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter Marilyn J. Lawson and her husband Paul of East Bridgewater; three sons Ronald A. Livie and his wife June of Middleboro, Rev. Robert N. Livie and his wife Cindy of Dixfield, Maine and Richard E. Livie and his wife Diane of Mashpee; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the West Bridgewater Baptist Church 83 N. Elm St. West Bridgewater, MA. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery in East Bridgewater, MA. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford St. Lakeville, MA

Karen Diane Demers

Karen Diane Demers age 57 years passed away unexpectedly Monday at her home in East Bridgewater. Born in Brockton she was the daughter of Francis W. and Phyllis P. (Olson) Nielsen of Brockton.
Karen was a graduate of Brockton High School and the former Chandler School for Women in Boston. She also earned her certificate as a paralegal from Stonehill College in Easton. Karen was a long time resident of East Bridgewater and worked as an executive secretary for the Shaw’s supermarket home office in East Bridgewater. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton and was involved with the Trivent organization through the church. Karen also enjoyed quilting, crafts, gardening and cooking.
In addition to her parents she is survived by two daughters, Melody (Lauzon) Reuss and Joy Marie Demers both of East Bridgewater, five step daughters, Theresa Dineen of New Bedford, Julie Allen of Kentucky, Lori Dumas-Godfrey of Middleboro, Kathleen Miller of Taunton and Kelly DeVincent of Haverhill, three sisters, Joanne Shotwell of Medford, Gail Sprinkle of Maryland and Paula Friski of Virginia. Grandmother of 15. She was also the former wife of James R. Demers. As well as the mother of the late Kristy Lee Demers. Her nephews, aunts, uncles and several cousins also survive her.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church 900 Main St. Brockton, MA. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
Visitation will take place on Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 647 Main St. Brockton, MA.
