Native of Dorchester, he resided briefly in Connecticut and was graduated from Brockton High School in 1983. Jim was employed in health care management currently as a provider network manager at Commonwealth Care Alliance in Boston and previously at Harvard-Pilgrim in Hingham and United Health Care in Westboro. He was a lifelong auto enthusiast and enjoyed drag racing in New Hampshire. Known to family as “Randy”, he was the beloved son of James M. Stone of Brockton and Carole Stone of Wareham, loving father of the late James R. Stone Jr., grandson of Elsie Thimas of Wareham and the late Bishop Robert L. Stone and Bessie B. Stone, stepson of Dynese Stone and Claudette Mathieu, dear nephew of John Thimas of Taunton, Susan Rezendes of Pawtucket, RI, Cynthia Fernandes of Marietta, GA, Vivian Thimas of Wareham, Robert L. Stone Jr. and his wife Doris of California, Arthur P. Stone Sr. of California, the late Evelyn B. Leeper, Dorothy F. Mathis and her husband George,cousin of Stephanie Rezendes, Amie Thimas, Brittany Hillman, Casey Gilbert, Jordan Fernandes, Olivia Fernandes and many first, second and third cousins in the Stone family and close friend of many including Jeff Burgo. Maria L. (Nelson) Belcher, 66, of Kingston, formerly of Brockton, died on April 17. Native of Dorchester, she was a caring daughter to her late parents, Russell and Katherine (Cronin) Nelson of Braintree. She resided in Brockton for over 30 years where she was a true homemaker, raising her three sons and enjoying her home, gardening and great cooking, especially Sunday dinners. Despite lifelong health issues, Maria was a hard-working and generous person who put others first and she was an animal lover. Maria was the devoted wife for 51 years of John J. “Bubba” Belcher, a retired Braintree police officer, the loving and beloved mother of John J. Belcher Jr. and James R. Belcher, both of Lakeland, Florida and Gregory N. Belcher of Waitt Funeral Home in Brockton, dear sister of Christine Ayoubi of Malden and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Melinda Sue Hammond, 31, lifelong of Brockton, died on Feb. 10. She was an office manager for Rocco Rose Insurance Agency. TRACEY, Christopher W., of Brockton, age 41, Sep. 1, beloved husband of Michele Dincecco-Tracey, loving father of Marc Dincecco and Meagan Tracey, son of William and Constance Connor, grandson of Alice Weston, all of Brockton, brother of Chanda Connor of Avon, William Connor of Brockton, Paul Connor of Wisconsin and the late Mark Tracey, uncle of many and “Best Buddy” of his nephew Billy Connor.

Vladimir Jimmy Weljkovic, 56, lifelong of Brockton, died Aug. 26, 2008. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and was employed as a maintenance operator for the state. Jimmy was a kind, gentle and simple guy. Son of Anna of Brockton and the late Ratko, he was the brother of Dusko “Duke” and his wife Nancy Weljkovic of Brockton and Michael Weljkovic of East Bridgewater, father of Melissa (and Jason) Kucinski and Tania (and Michael) Homer and grandfather of Jason Kucinski Jr. and Michael Homer Jr., all of Brockton and an uncle. Mary V. (Sylvia) Torrey, 71, of Leesburg, Florida since 2003, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2008 under hospice care in Florida after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 9, 1937, Mary was a daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Knight) Sylvia. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School in 1955. Mary came to Brockton in 1965 and ran a homemaker service called Handy Home Aides. She enjoyed bingo, casinos, camping (weekends at Scusset Beach) and especially loved her grandchildren. Carol M. (Hanley) McNeal, 65, of Brockton, died Sept. 26, 2008. Native of Mattapan, Carol resided in Brockton for the past 40 years and was employed in billing at King’s Department Store, Hills Department Stores office in Canton, Pharmerica and more recently at U.S. Laboratories in Brockton. Carol, known as “Goofy Grandma,” loved her five grandchildren, trips to Foxwoods, traveling to Georgia, her annual Halloween parties for family and friends, Christmastime and collecting snowmen. Stacia M. (Verbiski) Franciosi, 87, of Whitman since 1951, died on Sept. 24, 2008. Native of Brockton, Stacia’s employment included Eaton Shoe, George Knight Company and Handy Hannah. Stacia was active in women’s clubs and at Our Lady of Ostrobrama Church. The wife of the late Armand, she was the beloved mother of Linda Franciosi-Uftring of Whitman and Robert Franciosi of Brockton, grandmother of Robert and Andrew Franciosi of Pembroke and Brad Chasen of New York, great-grandmother of Dion Chasen of New York, aunt of many and sister of the late Sophie Starr, Blanche Colombo, Joseph Verbiski and Albert Verbiski. Robert L. Royal, 80, of Brockton, died Sept. 21, 2008. Native of Boston, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University. He was employed as an industrial electrician at Northeastern Electric in Boston for many years. Bob resided in Brockton for 45 years, enjoyed playing golf and was a skilled craftsman in building projects. The husband of the late Gloria L. (Selig), with whom he enjoyed 55 years of marriage, Bob was the loving father of Robin L. of Brockton, Jo-Ann of Taunton and Peter R. and his wife Jo-Anne of Abington, devoted “Bampa” of Jake Reid Royal and Zachary Thomas Royal, brother of the late George Royal and Thelma Royal and uncle of several nieces and nephews. Marion L. (Webber) Quinn, 87, lifelong of Brockton, died on Sept. 17, 2008. She was class president and a graduate of St. Patrick School in 1939 and graduated from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She was a registered nurse at accident and admitting at Boston City Hospital then was in Maternity at Brockton Hospital from 1955 until retiring in 1979. She was a member of Nurses Guild of St. Richard and St. Edward School Guild and she enjoyed family and reading. Marion was the widow of William F. Quinn Sr., beloved mother of William Jr. and his wife Judy of Brockton, Betty O’Sullivan and her husband Joseph of Hanson, James and his wife Janis of Haverhill, Paul of Abington, Elaine Iannarone and her husband John of Connecticut, Kathy Kelley and her husband Bernie of Brockton, Kevin of Boston and the late Robert Webber Quinn, grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 3 and sister of the late Florence Strickland and Robert Webber. Robert A. Hayden Sr., 83, retired Lieutenant, Brockton Fire Department, of Wareham, formerly of Brockton, died Sept. 14, 2008. Native of Brockton, a son of the late Charles and Laura (Poitras) Hayden Jr., he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was aboard the USS Stephen F. Austin and LST 911, saw action at Leyte Gulf in the Philippines and was part of the occupation force in Japan. After 34 years of service with the Brockton Fire Department he retired as a lieutenant in 1981. Bob enjoyed dancing, ice hockey, boating, woodworking, summers in Wareham and winters in Florida. He was a former member of Wareham Elks, Redmen’s Club and the LST Association and a life member of VFW in Bourne. The beloved husband of Mary M. (Donahue) Hayden, he was the loving father of Edward (and his wife Mary) of Brockton, Kathleen Yule (and her husband Russ) of Raynham, Robert Jr. (and his wife Jean) of Abington and William (and his wife Linda) of Raynham, a devoted grandfather of ten and brother of the late Edward Hayden, lost at sea aboard the U.S.S. Hornet in 1942 during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. Ruth Draper (Collier) Whynot, 93, of Florida, died August 24, 2008 at Englewood Hospital. Born April 5, 1915 in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late Albert Gardner Collier and Lillian (Burns) Collier. Ruth resided in Brockton and Randolph then Pittsfield and Barrington, New Hampshire prior to moving to Palmetto, Florida in 1983 with her husband Elmer Evans Whynot who died in 1986. She joined the Randolph Chapter of The Eastern Star in 1955 and was also a member of the Brockton and Northwood, New Hampshire Chapters and had served as Worthy Matron in both the Randolph and Northwood Chapters. Ruth was very active in charitable works in Tree Lakes Park in Palmetto, Florida, collecting stuffed animals and toys for children at Christmas and serving as corresponding secretary for many years. She knitted hats and lap quilts for cancer patients at Tidewell Hospice Center and knitted hats for infants at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. Ruth is survived by her son Russell “Brad” Hurd and his wife Priscilla of Port Charlotte, Florida and South Easton; four grandchildren, Bruce Hurd and his wife Pamela of Raynham, Brenda Peterson and her husband Mark of Raynham, Linda Hurd of Rehoboth and Lisa Rollo and her husband Edward of Taunton and eight great-grandsons. Following cremation, all are welcome to calling hours Saturday 9-11 a.m. and 11 a.m. memorial service in Belcher Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and burial at Central Cemetery, Randolph. Francis A. “Frank” Bukunt, 64, of Brockton, died October 9, 2008 from cancer. A son of Beatrice and the late Anthony J. Bukunt, Frank was a graduate of Brockton High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stonehill College and a Masters degree in Counseling with a concentration in Psychology from Suffolk University. Education was important to Frank as he continually broadened his educational background to include various certifications such as The Measurement of Intelligence, Residential Appraising at Stonehill College, and Service Training for Professional Persons at Fitchburg State College which allowed him to lead and be responsible for Vocational Technical Education for Massachusetts. For the last 25 years Frank proudly served the City of Brockton as an Assessor until his retirement in August of 2008. Previously he served as an assistant to the former State Representative Peter G. Asiaf Sr. and was a certified appraiser for Smith & Co. of Abington. Frank gave freely of himself, utilizing his training and talents to improve the lives of others, volunteered at several Massachusetts prisons by counseling inmates, as an accomplished organist played during Mass for several churches. Frank was a member of Knights of Lithuania and a communicant of St. Casimir Church, and enjoyed gardening and rides to the Scituate area for dinners and seawatching. In addition to being a devoted son to Beatrice, Frank was the brother of John J. Bukunt and his wife Irene of Bridgewater, Patricia A. Rodericks and her husband Manuel of Brockton, Paul F. Bukunt and his wife Janice of Port St. Lucie, FL and Dorothy E. Smith and her husband Edward of Hull, uncle of Jeffrey Bukunt, Gregory Bukunt, Douglas Bukunt, Lisa Rodericks, Linda Berolini, Ronald Rodericks, Sherry Bukunt, Mark Bukunt, Robin Hovey, Nancy Lacerda, Robert Machinski, Tracy Constantino and Jennifer Gilligan, grand uncle of 22 and great-granduncle of 2. Maryhelen (Stover) Price, 81, of Brockton since 1965, died Dec. 5, 2008. Native of New York, she was educated and employed in the retail industry there. She was employed as assistant director of the volunteer department and as a switchboard operator at Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton. She enjoyed volunteering there, birdwatching, gardening, reading and sports. Maryhelen was the wife of the late Joseph A.J. Price, beloved mother of Jody Price and her husband Griffith Jones and Krista Pratt and her husband Ted Pratt, all of Brockton, loving grandmother of Andrew Pratt, Shauna Atkins and her husband Robert, Griffith Jones and the late Nicholas Pratt, great-grandmother of Nicholas Atkins, sister of Linda George and her husband Vasil of Ohio and sister-in-law of the late Maryanna Pomichalek. Pearl (Sorgman) Duval, 86, lifelong of Brockton, died Dec. 1, 2008. She was a 1940 graduate of Brockton High School and was employed in the office at Knapp Shoe for 29 years. She enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles and watching old movies. Wife of the late Gerald B. Duval, she was the beloved mother of Diane White and her husband Clay and Richard Duval and his wife Hong, all of Brockton, loving grandmother of Bob D’Arcy, Michael D’Arcy, Brian Duval and Scott Duval, great-grandmother of 2, devoted sister of Eleanor Duval and Frances Sorgman of Brockton and the late Edward and George Sorgman and a dear aunt.
